Politics / Re: Soldiers Burnt Houses In Naka, Benue In Reprisal Attack - Army Spokesperson by midastouch: 3:53pm On Apr 20, 2018 |
While this madness was happening yesterday, the reports that my colleague (a Benue indigene) got live via a phone call was that soldiers were burning houses in reprisal of the killing of a soldier. The deceased soldier in question was among a group of soldiers that were walking in the bush in the company of herdsmen. The villagers have had enough experience of seeing herdsmen dress in soldier uniform to wreck havoc in the past. They did not know that this soldier was real!! The real question is why would soldiers of the Nigerian Army be escorting herdsmen grazing their cattle on foot, through the bush and not on their trucks or troop carriers as it should be? 38 Likes 2 Shares |

Primesky: Nice Arguement. Let us recall an important event in the live of Jesus Christ that We also ought to replicate in our day. The event is described in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 2:22–40). According to the gospel, Mary and Joseph took the Infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem forty days (inclusive) after his birth to complete Mary's ritual purification after childbirth, and to perform the redemption of the firstborn son, in obedience to the Torah (Leviticus 12, Exodus 13:12–15, etc.). Luke explicitly says that Joseph and Mary take the option provided for poor people (those who could not afford a lamb; Leviticus 12:, sacrificing "a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons." Leviticus 12:1–4 indicates that this event should take place forty days after birth for a male child Why do Christians not offer a lamb (for wealthy ones) or 2 young pigeons (for poor ones); when they take their first born sons (that open the womb) to the Church? Are we not also going to hell by not doing this? 2 Likes |

godwinelijah: Please tell me one thing that Tim Cook said that is false... He was just highlighting the differences in the business models of the 2 companies. Companies that give out free services (Google, facebook, WhatsApp etc.) must make money somehow (by selling their subscriber data to advertisers). Apple sells physical tangible hardware; making money in the process. Other software/platform companies like Oracle, Microsoft actually charge money for their wares. Hence, you do not hear them being embroiled in user data controversy. If you are not paying for it, YOU are the PRODUCT!! 2 Likes |

Kingcesar: I think your recollection of history is not accurate. RIM (blackberry) is almost DEAD (just like Nokia) due to technology disruption. I recall that they had issues with countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran ... even China; that wanted access into the data/communications of their citizens. RIM did not budge; but their decision did not make them shutdown. Apple (IOS) and Google (Android) killed Blackberry and Symbian used by (Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericsson and the rest). |

fk001: This is a dangerous suggestion. What if she converts and dies immediately, do you think she will still be with Jesus? Since the beginning of Christianity, the blood of martyrs have been the fertilizer for the propagation of the Gospel. We should not be afraid to shed our blood for the name of Jesus. We are called to do this as Christians. |

We are in 2018 not the 70's , 80's or the 90's. A lot of governments have divested from the airline business. Governments of Developed countries do not run airlines today. British Airways if now private, Air France is now private, KLM is now private, e.t.c. It is more efficient for the government to provide enabling environment for the private airlines operating in Nigeria to thrive. With our population and our travelling history, Airlines based in Nigeria can become the dominant hubs/brands of aviation on this continent if they are well managed. This is 2018, for a country as poor/under-developed as we are; we do not need A National Airline, a National Shipping Line or a presidential fleet. All these are relics of the last 70 years. The world has moved on. 3 Likes |

felixomor: Jews DO NOT TITHE in 2017. But in the past (when the Temple still stood) when they did, this is how it was done: Biblical Tithes or “Taxes” Before discussing any taxation system in Jewish law, it’s necessary to get a sense of the various tithes Jews had to give. Although these aren’t “taxes” in the conventional sense of funds going towards the government, Jews were obligated to pay these dues: Terumah: a tithe levied to support the priests, who did not own property and devoted themselves to the communal good, including serving in the Holy Temple. According to rabbinic mandate, a fortieth, fiftieth or sixtieth of the total produce (depending on the generosity of the payer) was given. Ma’aser: an annual 10-percent tithe on agriculture (ma’aser rishon) that supported the landless Levites in their service of the Jewish people. Depending on the year, an additional tenth was given to support the poor (ma’aser ani) or was eaten by the owner in the capital city of Jerusalem (ma’aser sheni). Additionally, there was a ma’aser taken from newborn animals, which like ma’aser sheni was to be eaten in Jerusalem (with portions given to the priests). Leket, Shikchah and Peah: portions of the harvest that were left for the poor. Leket and shikchah refer to stalks that fell during reaping, or sheaves that were forgotten in the field after harvest. Additionally, a corner of the field, peah, was left untouched by the owner for the poor to harvest for themselves. Machatzit Hashekel: an annual donation of a half-shekel that every Jewish man over the age of 20 was required to give to the Temple coffers. This was used primarily for communal offerings, but was also used for many communal needs, such as maintaining the Temple and salaries for judges. Additionally, all Jews had to contribute to the building of the Temple, which could be a one-time donation. |

If this prophecy also foresees the rebirth of Nigeria, from a consumer country to a producer country, then it is all good. Fiat currency gains value from production not consumption. If we remain a consumer country, then I am afraid that there is no way this prophecy can come to pass. Faith without works is DEAD! |

Chuksgeo: My sentiments exactly. For Nigerians living abroad, BVN registration is ONLY AVAILABLE IN 5 COUNTRIES!!!! WTF! Does this mean that Nigerians only live in 5 countries of the world. I remember that Abike Dabiri mentioned that Diaspora monetary remittances back home topped $36b in 2016 alone! Nigerians living abroad have not been provided sufficient/proper opportunity to register for BVN in their countries of domicile. Is it now their fault? Why would the government want to STEAL their money in broad day light? 2 Likes |

Medically, there are some people that do not fall into the 2 genders of male and female. These people are called intersex - as they have both male and female Instruments. If this law was made to accommodate them, then good. If it is to accommodate other reasons, then good luck to them and their plans. |

Please tell you friend to work with his fiance and warm up relations to his mother, sister or brother. The truth is that there is a lot of prejudice and mindset that needs to be dismantled smartly. It helps in this battle to have staunch allies in the unconquered territory. Tell your friend to become best friends with the guys sister, mum or brother. This strategy worked for me. Gradually, all the other family members will warm up to her once they get to know her 1-on-1 and drop their preconceived prejudices. My spouse is now the darling of the whole family. But it cost me a lot of years of patience and strategy. 1 Like |

I lack words to express my confusion. It appears that all primary health care professionals in the South-South and South-East are on annual leave; otherwise, how do you explain the fact that the Nigerian Army is now the vehicle of vaccine administration? UNICEF and the WHO have administered vaccines in these areas in the past and they have established structures for achieving these aims. A lot of goofing by the Army. Providing vaccination for the public and to minors (without the consent of their legal parents /guardians) is NOT the job of the Army. Now, assuming this exercise is altruistic, why not carry out massive sensitization and publicity prior to doing this! It is even more respectful to have the parents of these children consent before going ahead. A lot of people should lose their jobs over this botched job. Nobody is even telling us what diseases the vaccines are for. 8 Likes |
