Chelsea head to Germany for the Round of 16 first leg tie against Dortmund.

Dortmund are in good form having won their last seven games in all competitions, scoring 22, on the other hand Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four games, winning one and drawing three.

UEFA confirmed that Jesús Gil Manzano (ESP) will take charge of the two sides in Germany.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has hit back at criticism that he lacks passion and does not get angry enough.

Former England defender Rio Ferdinand suggested Potter needs to be like Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho in post-match interviews.

Potter added: "It's an emotional thing but I have a responsibility to Chelsea, the game and myself to act in a certain way for me."

Meanwhile, Potter has played down a potential fallout between Mykhailo Mudryk and Marc Cucurella.

January signing Mudryk appeared to like an Instagram post criticising Cucurella after expressing frustration with his team-mate during Saturday's draw at West Ham.

"There's no problem in terms of anything sinister at all," said Potter. "If anything it's just team-mates understanding each other.

"It's quite a common problem, I would say - when to pass, at what point, at what time."

'Not easy' to analyse Chelsea
The Bundesliga side are in superb form, winning all six of their matches this year and currently sit third in the league.

However, head coach Edin Terzic says it will be difficult to know what to expect from their English opponents with Chelsea spending lavishly on the likes of British record signing Fernandez in January while still being without N'Golo Kante.

"It is not easy to analyse [Chelsea]," Terzic said.

"After the Champions League draw we watched their games but then in the transfer window there was so much movement from them.

"They sold key players, brought in other key players. Then we saw the official Champions League list but then there was the transfer of Joao Felix, for example," Terzic added.

"So you don't know how they will play. In defence they played with four but before also with three in the back. We will prepare for everything."

Chelsea's midfield must step up
The loss of Sterling, who also missed Saturday's Premier League trip to West Ham with a knee problem, will come as a blow to manager Graham Potter, who for all Chelsea's January spending did not see an established goalscorer arrive at Stamford Bridge.

With Aubameyang - the club's only proven goalscorer at this level - unavailable against his former club, Glenn Hoddle, who managed Chelsea for three years between 1993-1996 says the club's midfielders will have to contribute more.

The Blues have won once and scored just four goals in their last eight games in all competitions.

"They haven't got a 20-plus goalscorer, so everyone's got to come to the table to get Chelsea over the line in games," said Hoddle.

"The key to their success will be the likes of Mason Mount, Mykhailo Mudryk and Kai Havertz all chipping in scoring.

"The Champions League, if they get through Dortmund, could be the tipping point for him [Potter] going on a really good run, for getting the confidence in the squad.

"The problem is they don't look like a functioning team at the moment. They missed out on a striker, which was surprising."

Chelsea will be without England forward Raheem Sterling for the game in Germany, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left out of for the knockout stages along with several of their January signings.

Joao Felix, Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk may start, and centre-backs Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana have also travelling.

Dortmund's teenage forward Youssoufa Moukoko is out with an ankle injury.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a 10-day extension for Nigerians to swap their old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes for the new ones.
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Godwin Emefiele spoke with reporters after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in his Daura country home.

He said banks will continue to give out the new notes in exchange for the old ones till February 10, 2023.


The CBN Governor, who visited the President from around 11am, also said from February 10, Nigerians will have the grace of visiting the CBN to deposit their old notes for new ones for another seven days, which ends on February 17, 2023.

“We have today sought and obtained Mr. President’s approval for the following: one, a 10 day extension of the deadline from January 31, 2023, to February 10, 2023, to allow for collection of more old notes, legitimately held by Nigerians and achieve more success in cash swap in rural areas in our villages and communities, after which all old notes outside the CBN lose their legal tender status,

“Our CBN staff currently on mass mobilisation and monitoring, together with officials of the EFCC and ICPC, will work together to achieve these objectives in the coming days.



“Two, a seven-day grace period, beginning on February 10, to February 17, 2023, in compliance with Section 20, subsection 3, and section 22 of the CBN Act, allowing Nigerians to deposit their old notes at the CBN after the February deadline, when the old currency would have lost its legal tender status.

“We, therefore, appeal to all Nigerians to work with the Central Bank of Nigeria to achieve a hitch-free process for the implementation of this very important program,” he said.

According to him, 75 percent of the N2.7 trillion held outside the banking system has been recovered.


He said: “We are happy that so far, the exercise has achieved a success rate of over 75 per cent of the N2.7 trillion held outside the banking system.


“Nigerians in the rural areas, villages, the aged and vulnerable have had the opportunity to swap their old notes; leveraging the Agent Naira Swap initiative as well as the CBN Senior staff nationwide sensitization team exercise.

“Aside from those holding illicit/stolen Naira in their homes for speculative purposes, we do aim to give all Nigerians that have Naira legitimately earned and trapped, the opportunity to deposit their legitimately trapped monies at the CBN for exchange,” he said.
