ABIA NORTH: Sen Kalu Distributes 5000 Bags Of Rice, Fertilizer Reaffirms Better Days Under Tinubu. The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Saturday distributed 5,000 bags of rice and 1,000 bags of fertilizer to his constituents, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), OUK Movement, and Reality Organization. The event, held at his Camp Neya country home in Igbere, was attended by chieftains of the APC. It reaffirmed the former Abia State governor’s commitment to uniting party members and promoting peace and unity. Senator Kalu praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating bold reforms and acknowledged the economic challenges faced by Nigerians. He expressed confidence in the president’s efforts to revitalize the economy, saying: “President Tinubu knows Nigerians are hungry, but I am confident he will fix the economy.” Speaking at the event, the senator outlined the purpose of the meeting: “The aim of this gathering is to strengthen our structure, assess our strengths, and ensure the working committees of the local governments are in order. I can confidently say that our team, comprising the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Woman Leader, Youth Leader, and PRO, is intact. We remain the largest political family in Abia State. “I make it a duty to engage with our members regularly, not just during elections. It is important to support the APC at all levels. Our president is aware that the reforms have caused discomfort, and I have discussed this with him both privately and publicly. He is determined to address these issues. “What we have done today is ensure these relief items reach the grassroots. I urge everyone to work together. There is no distinction between APC, Reality Organization, and OUK Movement. Democracy is about the people, and we must all focus on our shared goals, ignoring distractions.” The state chairman of Reality Organization, Barr. Peter Ndukwe, urged members to rally behind Senator Kalu: “We must do everything possible to ensure OUK progresses because his destiny is tied to ours. Let us all put in our best effort. Orji Uzor Kalu is a father and a true leader. We should follow him with reason and obedience.” Similarly, Hon. Ojisi Ogbaja, Chairman of OUK Movement in Abia State, emphasized the importance of collective effort: “Politics is about people. Resources alone won’t win elections. It would be wrong to have these groups and not achieve results. Senator Kalu is in the Senate because we elected and supported him. “As stakeholders from Arochukwu and Ohafia, we must put in more effort. If we secure two state assembly seats for the APC, it will strengthen our position. Let us get our acts together, work harder, and win elections. Diligence in assigned tasks is key, and collective success will make others take us seriously.” The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Hon. Robinson Otuwe Kalu, Hon. Ignis Ifeanyi Ogbonna, Hon. Paul O. Uche, Prince Engr. Emma Nwosu, Hon. Perfect Okorie, Chief Chukwuemeka Izuka, Barr. Sam Ogbonna, Chief Okey Ezeala, Arc. Dike Nduka, Barr. ABIA: Sen. Kalu Rallies Support For Tinubu's Reforms, Receives Business Mogul Kelvin Jombo Into APC. The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the country. Kalu made this appeal while receiving Chief Kelvin Jombo, a prominent businessman and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abiriba. He noted that the APC remains the largest political party in the country, despite what he described as smear campaigns by the opposition. The senator acknowledged that reforms are challenging worldwide but expressed confidence that President Tinubu’s hard decisions will yield long-term benefits for Nigerians. “We are the largest party in Nigeria; forget what people are saying in the media. Reforms are very difficult. It took me three years to get a grip of Abia as a governor, and I know that people are hungry. Just give us a little time to put things in order,” Kalu said. He urged the people of Abiriba to support Kelvin Jombo in his future plans for the community, emphasizing that the APC would strengthen its presence in states like Abia and Enugu. “We’re going to build strong partnerships, and I urge you to support Kelvin Jombo and everything about the party—not just here, but in every other part of Abia and Enugu. We’re not going to allow anybody to deceive us. We’re going to work for the well-being of our people. You all know me as someone who works for the common people.” Chief Kelvin Jombo, a billionaire businessman, expressed gratitude to the APC leadership during his acceptance speech at Abiriba Stadium. He described his defection as the will of God and pledged to bring value and the dividends of democracy to the party for the benefit of his people. “I strongly believe that Abiriba, Nkporo, Arochukwu, and Ohafia will fully embrace the APC,” Jombo said, promising to contribute to the party’s growth and development. Ikechi Anya, who was also received into the APC, expressed joy at the warm reception, describing it as the beginning of a new chapter for Abiriba. In his remarks, Otuwe Orji Kalu affirmed that Abiriba and Nkporo in Ohafia are firmly APC strongholds. He assured the people that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s leadership would bring the dividends of democracy to Abia North. Former Commissioner for Transport, Nnenna Obewu, described the event as a historic day for Abiriba APC. She emphasized the importance of women in electoral success and praised the defection of Chief Kelvin Jombo as a significant boost to the party. The Abia State APC Chairman, Kingsley Onunugbu, thanked Chief Kelvin Jombo for joining the party, assuring him that his decision would be fruitful. He described Abiriba as a key area for the APC. Prince Emma Nwosu, the LGA APC Chairman, reiterated the party’s commitment to unity and reconciliation. “We stand here as the people of Ohafia to accept new members into our party as one united and strong body. Our chairman, Kingsley Onunugbu, has initiated reconciliation to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections. We are confident that the caliber of people joining us will help us secure victory,” Nwosu said. AS APC's PRESENT DOMINANCE IN OHAFIA, RETIRES OHAFIA PDP -Ex Deputy Speaker, Ifeanyi Uchendu. In Ohafia Local Government, there is no longer a PDP party presence. I have successfully convinced all former PDP members to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). The only people left in the PDP here are a small group of close associates, often referred to as a "committee of friends." This shift has greatly strengthened the APC’s position in the area. I, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu Ph.D, former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and a dedicated APC chieftain, have played a central role in making this transition happen, solidifying the APC’s influence in Ohafia.

The court instructed that parties with claims to the funds must present their case within 14 days of the publication. A hearing to review compliance with the order has been scheduled for February 3. The EFCC, in its motion, disclosed that the sum of ₦228,497,773.12 is domiciled in a commercial bank and is tied to Effdee Nigeria Ltd. Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu has lauded Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for his remarkable leadership and dedication to the successful hosting of the Igbere Festival, a cultural event that has become a hallmark of the community. In his address, Uchendu highlighted the critical role that such cultural events play in fostering unity, preserving traditions, and promoting the rich heritage of the Igbere people. He praised Senator Kalu for his consistent efforts in ensuring that the festival not only remains a cherished tradition but also serves as a platform for attracting both national and international attention to the beauty of Igbere's cultural practices. According to Uchendu, the Igbere Festival stands as a testament to the resilience and vibrancy of the Igbere people and their deep connection to their history and customs. Uchendu further emphasized the need for a concerted effort to invest in the culture and tourism sectors to harness the full potential of the community's cultural wealth. He called on the government, both at the local and federal levels, as well as private sector stakeholders, to direct more resources into preserving the diverse traditions of Igbere and the wider southeastern region. By doing so, he believes that Igbere can become a prime destination for tourists, which would stimulate economic growth and create job opportunities, particularly in hospitality, arts, and crafts. Additionally, Uchendu reiterated the importance of culture as a key driver of sustainable development, noting that by showcasing the unique aspects of Igbere’s culture through events like the Igbere Festival, the community could further establish itself as a key player in Nigeria’s tourism sector. Happy New Year And Welcome To 2025, A Year Of Extraordinary Divine Elevation. By All Intents And Purposes, Year 2025 Shall Be An Extraordinary Fruitful Year. I Welcome All Of Us Into The Year 2025... As clearly stated in 2 Corinthians 5:17 about old and new. It is absolutely natural and true that the old must give way to the new. Nature functions in line with this law. Each new day becomes old and is replaced by another new day every day; each new breath after giving energy to body cells is replaced by another new breath after the exhalation. Everything in this world changes nothing remains the same and in this process old probably replaced with the new. You have to change according to the time otherwise it will be considered that you remained back with the time. Our past experiences over the years and especially year 2024 can motivate and influence our future actions. We have to give space for new experiences and undertakings and at the same time allow our past to rest in memories. Therefore, on behalf of my family, supporters and admirers, I wish all my friends and well-wishers a resounding happy new year. May the light of the most High God shine upon our path as we journey into the year 2025. Happy New Year... Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah PhD, (CON) FCA.

Former Deputy Speaker Abia State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu PhD, Expresses Deep Sympathy Over Fire Victims In Ohafia, Calls For Immediate Action. Fire Outbreak in Afia Nkwo Market: A Call for Urgent Action Yesterday, tragedy struck at Afia Nkwo Market in Elu Ohafia as a devastating fire broke out, reducing shops and valuable goods to ashes. Our hearts go out to the victims who have suffered the loss of their livelihoods, and we stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time. The loss is not only personal but also a significant blow to the entire Ohafia clan and the state. In light of this heartbreaking incident, I am compelled to use this moment to urgently plead with the Abia State Government to take immediate action regarding the Abia North Fire Service Station, which I had the honor of building and handed over to the government. It is disheartening that, this station has not yet been made operational. The people of Abia North need this fire service station to be functional now more than ever. We can no longer afford to stand by and watch as our markets, businesses, and homes are at risk, with no fire response in sight. The fire that devastated Afia Nkwo Market could have been contained, or at least minimized, had the fire service station been operational. We cannot afford another tragedy, as each passing day increases the threat of more destruction. I am calling on the Abia State Government to prioritize the activation of the Abia North Fire Service Station, as it is essential to safeguarding lives and property in the region. The government must act swiftly to ensure that this vital service is available to our people before we experience another devastating loss. May we never have to witness such a calamity again. Let us come together and advocate for the well-being of our people, ensuring that the necessary resources are in place to prevent future tragedies.

His contributions to key national issues, particularly in the areas of economic development and legislative reforms, have been noteworthy. He has consistently advocated for policies that aim to improve the livelihoods of Nigerians, while also ensuring that his constituents are well represented. Overall, his performance in the Senate can be rated positively, reflecting his experience, commitment, and efforts to enhance the legislative process.” Abia-born Pentecostal cleric, Bishop Silas Eke, said: “Judging by the performance of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, all we can do now is for the entire [community] to rally round him and support him in his future endeavours. He has done excellently well, and we’re begging him to run again in 2027.” A women leader and humanitarian, Barr. Rosemond Uche, said: “I rate him (Senator Orji Uzor Kalu) as the Overall Best in Constituency delivery of infrastructural developments compared to his colleagues. He stands as one of the foremost, having to his credit more than 25 bills that are of great value to the country.” The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ohafia North State Constituency in the 2023 elections, Hon. Robinson Otuwe Kalu, described Senator Kalu as the best thing to have ever happened to Abia North Senatorial District. “Our Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is the best thing that ever happened to Abia North. So if you come for a rating, I will give him 100% because he deserves it.” Hon. Ojisi Iro Ogbaja, the Abia State Chairman of the OUK Movement, said: “The history of senatorial representation in Abia North since 1999 has been marked by varied levels of performance and impact across the five local government areas (LGAs) of the district. In 1999, Senator Ike Nwachukwu was elected to represent Abia North. He served for four years but left no significant impact across the LGAs during his tenure. “Following his tenure, Senator Uche Chukwumerije took office from 2003 to 2015. His extended period in the Senate also recorded little or no tangible achievements within the five LGAs of Abia North. “After Chukwumerije, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa assumed office from 2015 to 2019. Unfortunately, Mao followed the pattern of his predecessors, failing to effectively reach or impact the lives of the people. “The underwhelming performances of these three Senators created an opportunity for a new wave of leadership. In 2019, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) emerged as the Senator representing Abia North. His tenure has been marked by unparalleled productivity and visible achievements, making him the most distinguished and celebrated Senator the district has produced since 1999. “Due to his unique and selfless approach to governance, Senator Kalu has transformed the narrative of Abia North senatorial representation. His contributions include: infrastructure development; construction and rehabilitation of numerous rural roads across the five LGAs of Abia North; the Red Roof Revolution, which symbolises his commitment to revamping dilapidated school blocks in all primary schools across the district; installation of high-tech solar-powered streetlights in various rural communities, improving security and economic activities; and consistent and impactful programmes that directly improve the lives of his constituents, which he approaches as a personal calling. “Senator Kalu’s presence in the Red Chamber has demonstrated his charismatic leadership and dedication to quality representation. His efforts have earned him the loyalty of the people, transcending party affiliations across the five LGAs of Abia North. “Since his election in 2019, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has been a blessing and a God-sent leader to the people of Abia North. His unique performance and commitment to good governance have firmly established him as a trusted representative who is poised to be re-elected repeatedly by his constituents.” On his part, the Abia State Chairman of the Reality Organisation, Barr. Peter Ndukwe, said: “Distinguished Senator (Dr) Orji Uzor Kalu is phenomenal in the history of Abia politics, South East Nigeria and Nigeria at large. His credentials in terms of performance at the 10th Senate are unprecedented. He is credited as the best-performing Senator in the 10th Senate so far, the best-performing Senator of Abia extraction since the creation of Abia State, and, without contradiction, he is unparalleled and unrivalled in infrastructural development in the history of the Abia North Senatorial District. His giant strides are acknowledged even by his political enemies and detractors. OUK, as he is fondly called, is a blessing to the Abia North Senatorial District, South East Nigeria, and indeed Nigeria. He just won the Senate Press Corps Award as the best-performing Senator, an award he has won consecutively for the third time. All hail the indefatigable OUK.” Legal practitioner and state secretary of the OUK Movement, Barr. Sam Ogbonna, said: “H.E. Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s representation of the Abia North Senatorial Zone has shown that a Senator can impact the lives of his constituents. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is equal to none. He is a political Iroko who knows what he wants and how to go about it. The award he has won for the third time is not by accident. He deserves even more.” Prominent community leader and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Engr. Emma Nwosu, said: “Senator Orji Uzor is generally referred to as the most distinguished Senator, implying that he has exceptionally distinguished himself from others or colleagues. “He has changed the narrative of representation in both arms of the National Assembly with his activities and results so far. “He has and is still performing excellently well beyond people’s imagination, in every aspect of the developmental needs of the constituents and others, namely in education, infrastructure, human capital, and general human empowerment, to mention only a few. “His overall performance so far has created doubt in many whether he belongs to the legislature and not the executive, whose primary function is to provide for the good and welfare of the people. “Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has indeed demonstrated leadership and representation in all ramifications to the people of the Abia North Senatorial District in particular and Nigeria in general. “[I am] praying that God will continue to guide and equip him with wisdom in piloting the affairs of the committee assigned to him, ensuring quality representation and service to Nigeria.”
