pluto09:You can educate me. You may have superior facts which may change my mind/opinion. Since you are now defending the govts. (I am not referring to the current BAT/APC govt alone; they started telling those lies from OBJ/PDP era) |
Racoon:Stop the silly lies and ass licking! Buhari did not cast anybody. Amaechi disagreed with Tinubu even when he was minister in Buhari's govt. |
pluto09:I agree. I only used it as an example to make the point that subsidy does not have to go entirely directly to the people that need it most. It is a fallacy, a lie that has been sold to the people and unfortunately, many have believed and accepted it as ''truth'' |
pluto09:This is one of the lies that they have used to deceive the people. There is no where in the world where subsidy goes entirely directly to the people that need it most. When subsidy is given, the benefit is usually for the general populace. When Agric, transportation services are subsidized in the US or Europe, everybody enjoys the passthrough effect, both the rich and poor. Rich men use the same transport system and consume the same farm produce that the poor consume. The focus is that the poor who are in the majority should benefit more, even if some rich people also benefit. Free or subsidized education is another example. Our govt has successfully deceived the people by making many to believe that subsidy is not going directly to the people that need it, hence it must be abolished. For instance, were the ordinary citizens buying fuel at cheaper rates not enjoying it? Which poor man is better buying fuel at N1,000 instead of N200? |
Ginalex:Thanks a lot. It is advisable we have a fair idea of the track record and antecedents of people on this platform, before we start ascribing some tendencies to their name/words/actions. |
emmanuelewumi:Subsidies are meant for redistribution of income, reducing poverty, improving standard of living etc and must not necessarily come from ''surplus''. The US, UK, etc. all have subsidies for their transportation, Agric. sectors etc. They even have food banks for people who are hungry to go collect free food to eat. But we Africans are becoming increasingly influenced to believe that any form of subsidy is bad or unnecessary |
STNWAUME:Na wa ooo By the way, I can count about 7 (or more) stock recommendations by @Megawealth in the last 1 year and each one has delivered more than 100% gain. The most recent is Deapcap; he recommended it at less than N1 towards end of 2025. Today, it is selling at N8.25k (700% gain). So I am the one ''trapped'' in it now, and I am enjoying it. ![]() I am looking forward to be seriously trapped in Unity Bank as well (even NGX common sense should tell us that a newly listed Providus-Unity Bank will gain in price after listing) |
TimiofAbuja:Shut it, please. Tinubu did more than that when he was in opposition |
megawealth01:Thanks |
megawealth01:My guy, thanks for the heads up. What are you dropping for guys in 2026? I am still riding DEAPCAP like a horse on steroids! ![]() |
KarlTom:DJT wants US to be dominant and inward looking in all spheres. And he doesnt want US resources to be used to aid and develop other countries to achieve greatness. The debt is secondary. Anyway, you have your points |
KarlTom:Yeah, I agree. But USA is a unique case, not a very good example of sovereign debts. They have the singular privilege of the debt being denominated in their national currency. So they do not necessarily have to produce and export before they can repay. They can virtually decide to print the dollars and use it to pay their debts. (theoretically speaking, quantitative easing). So no country should ''farawe'' or do follow follow with US on foreign debts |
Pauldollars:Simply engineering failure. One major reason I vowed not to buy Honda cars, especially Accord models |
Agbalowomeri: ![]() The one that enters my pocket is what matters ooo I don't necessarily benefit when Otedola or Elumelu pump and dump their shares to blow NGX |
Agbalowomeri:Agba!!! Positivity galore for the economy! But when it gets to NGX, you tighten your face. Hope you are also positive that NGX go blow this year and Access and other stocks go hit 100% |
Agbalowomeri:The effects and implications of borrowings are not exactly the same for a sovereign (national govt) and a corporate entity. |
chimex38:Yeah, |
Kukutente23:It is a lie. They just want to keep importing because of the quick profits and inherent corruption. When did the nation experience any fuel scarcity or shortage as a result of lack of capacity by Dangote refinery before they decided to import more fuel? |
Vixlot:Tinubu only giving priority to election matters while the whole country is burning due to insecurity |
KarlTom:Kindly reconfirm: I am seeing Oando did +1.65% today on some other platforms, including Stock bubbles |
Malubi:https://ngxgroup.com/exchange/trade/becoming-an-investor/find-a-broker/ See the list above. You may want to do some due diligence and consider factors like office location address, means and ease of transacting business, online platforms to monitor trade, etc to pick your choices. |
awesomeJ: ![]() |
nosa2:AMEN! AMEN!! AMEN!!! It will be to my advantage if it happens. But I have listened to thousands of such prayers/assurances before and I recall that Alh. Dangote even warned that FGN should do everything possible so that dollar does not get to N500. |
awesomeJ:So your horizon is only from 2022-2025? And that explains all you know about the economic history of Nigeria? You seem not to know that Nigeria may even ''do everything right'' and the naira may still depreciate against the dollar because other actions/initiatives can be taken by US govt which are not under the control of FGN. I can see that your choice of words about the other person is always in a particular direction..... . I am done with you on this matter. Wish you best of luck |
awesomeJ:This is not the end yet of currency movements; things can change a few months from now. Let's be circumspect in the choice of words, especially when it is derogatory. Nobody knows it all. NSEMPA is not IMF nor WB boardroom.. |
crownprince2017:The chances are high. Nigeria operates a less diversified, import dependent economy, so it is prone to revenue and hence exchange rate fluctuations |
crownprince2017:It would depend on the purpose and the time horizon. In the short-term, the dollar is not expected to be too strong because of some domestic issues in the US, geopolitics etc In the long run, I would favour the dollar as the naira may be affected by various factors e.g. if US raises their interest rates, if govt revenue or oil price/volume goes down, which may force govt to devalue, socio-economic instability, etc |
The president of Ghana is transforming the roads in all the 16 regions in Ghana using a budget of $10billion( approx. N14trillion) over a period of 5 years. The president of Nigeria is using N15rillion to build a single road from Lagos to Calabar. The roads in Ghana will definitely contribute more to the development because they are linking all the regions thereby boosting economic activity with higher multiplier effect, than the one being constructed in Nigeria. |
Naya261:Go to Germany or Austria instead, if you are interested Reasons: 1. A lot of courses/programmes taught entirely in English in a lot of universities 2. very low of free tuition, so you save big on your tuition fees 3. you have the chance to stay and work after your studies. 4. Germany's economy is the biggest in Europe and offers more job opportunities. 5. more stable immigration rules, so you can plan better. Not like UK where they change the rules every now and then |
awesomeJ:Are you aware of the purpose and how long (time horizon) for which the person is holding the dollars?. What would you say if for instance, the person is hoarding the dollars to pay future school fees in 2030 and it gets to N1,800 by then? Nobody can predict with certainty, hence no one should boast or sound condescending or derogatory |
