Kaczynski: ![]() Remember, the best things of life are free, and no one can live without them. The air we breathe, the sun, the rain, etc. The rich would want people to pay for these things, if not by His grace! |
Coolcash1:Patience and long term focus is very key in this stocks market game. I bought some 3million units of that RT Briscoe at about 0.60k and sold off around 0.80k. Now it is almost N15! Unbelievable! |
unite4real:Great advice. Even sometimes when it becones too cagey and too risky, just make sure you secure your capital FIRST and leave every other target for the time being. Live goes and you recover in due course |

pluto09:You said the CBN does not allocate forex to BDCs. But the article reads inter-alia, ''The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved the participation of licensed Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), allowing each operator to purchase up to $150,000 weekly. That is imposing an allocation limit of $150,000 weekly per BDC player, if successful. The CBN can equally increase or reduce this threshold. That is a way of ''allocating'' or ''assigning'' the maximum amount a BDC can buy, for the purpose of managing forex availability and its potential effect on rate in the parallel market. Abi, did I offend English language? ![]() |
pluto09:Why are you so defensive on any thing about govt:? The CBN routinely allocates or decides the threshold of forex to be made available to BDCs in the NFEM, as a way of managing the rate: The CBN regulates the NFEM (Nigeria Foreign Exchange Market) by determining the allocation threshold to BDCs Please refer to this news item: https://thebureau.com.ng/cbn-approves-150000-weekly-fx-access-bdcs/ https://www.nairaland.com/8616324/cbn-approves-150000-weekly-fx |
magoo10:Lol ![]() You dey craze! Wetin specific wey you wan hear? |
yMcy56:This is what may also happen when Providus-Unity is eventually listed. The funds in the market will pursue it like mad |
presiade:It is about which GDP component generates the required forex revenue, from which the govt gets its dollars allocations to the BDC. Oil revenue is still the largest and dominant contributor to Nigeria's forex revenue, and it is affected by volume and price |
presiade:All these beautiful policy intentions rely on our ability to generate the needed forex, which relies heavily on oil revenue. Once oil revenue does well, every other thing will be fine. Otherwise, all these na audio. |
leo1234: ![]() Agba na Ijebu man! |
NSEstudent:Yeah, my standing order would be to buy at any price available in the market, hoping that I should be able to get some good number of units before my funds run out. If they do a public offer shortly (e.g. few weeks) after the listing, the price may not be too high. |
SonofElElyonRet: ![]() I pray it gets to wherever Agba wants it.. I am not in Oando for the short term, so the lower it gets, the better opportunity for me to load more. Nothing shakes me! |
NSEstudent:Yeah, I understand that. It will be scarce in the first few days or weeks after listing. My plan is to leave some reasonable funds in my brokerage account, so I can place a standing order once the suspension is lifted and it is listed for trading. The other option is to subscribe heavily if they come via public offer. |
megawealth01:Thanks for this heads up. I will not let Providus-Unity pass me by, God willing. And thanks for all your stock picks in 2025 |
ppogba:WEMA Bank experienced financial challenges and was under suspension for a very long time, running into years. They received support from CBN, and has now recovered fully with over 2000% return or gain. He is saying a Unity Bank would experience a similar thing. |
presiade:Well, you are free to believe in whatever lies or rumours you decide. It is your right. The rule of the game is evidence, especially after several comprehensive investigations all over the world including Nigeria, UK, US, Dubai etc. Atiku has not sued OBJ after all the allegations because he is a politician who is still vying to become president and mayvbe hoping to leverage OBJ's influence to win. Please Note: I am not saying Atiku is better than anybody for the post of president. No. I am only restricting myself to some of the political lies and rumours that some people believe out of ignorance or naivety. Similar other political lies were said against Tinubu himself in opposition; he appeared before the ICPC and was cleared/discharged. One of the persons that made those allegations against Tinubu then, Nuhu Ribadu, has now taken up appointment as National Security Adviser under the same Tinubu that he once described as corrupt. How about that? Of course, he needed to tell the lie against Tinubu in order to impress OBJ who appointed him as EFCC chairman, and now he needs to accept the appointment under Tinubu so he can be politically relevant and make some money as well. But Atiku was even far more investigated than Tinubu or anybody else in the history of Nigeria. |
pluto09:Okay, I agree with you entirely on this. |
Kaczynski:I wont look at Texas. I would rather look at other developing OPEC countries like Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Brazil, Russia, Libya, etc. and learn from what they have been able to achieve. The US would have overrun Venezuela oil industry decades ago if Venezuela had privatized their national oil company (like NNPC) because they can easily front different companies to buy it off. US could not achieve that, hence Trump had to use the crooked lies to physically attack and abduct the president. A week after the abduction, Trump started talking about Venezuela oil reserves and how US companies should be allowed access to the reserves. That is how strategically important the oil industry is. You don't give it out to outsiders anyhow. Other assets may be privatized 100%, but not the national oil company. |
presiade: The question you should ask is this: will the US govt leave a criminal to go free because he was traveling with a friend who is a Senate president? Atiku traveled with his own passport in his own name. If he was a criminal wanted in the US, he would be arrested. No questions about that. There is no shared immunity. President Maduro of Venezuela is a clear case. OBJ was the head of the govt who takes the final decision on privatization of state enterprises. EFCC, ICPC, SSS, Police, DSS, SFIU, US, UK, Dubai, etc. were all mobilized by OBJ and investigated all Atiku's dealings and business transactions in and out of govt. They found NOTHINHG! |
presiade:Atiku was never involved in the Halliburton scandal nor the privatization deals under OBJ. The privatization of State enterprises was handled by El-rufai, the DG of Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) who was reporting directly to Obasanjo and National Council on Privatization(NCP). How wss Atiku involved in this? Atiku has been investigated extensively and comprehensively by all the investigative bodies in this country and abroad., including the Halliburton scandal. NOTHING was found against him. People just spread rumours and tell lies. The same way they said he was wanted in the US for fraud and that he could never travel to US because he would be arrested. That was a well planned blackmail, The man eventually travelled to US and nothing happened. |
faoogoke:This is strange! ![]() |
Kaczynski:Are we really sure? Strategically speaking, it could be a huge mistake and dangerous for a nation to sell 100% stake in its national oil company (like NNPC) outrightly to private hands. This is why no single member of OPEC has done that. Countries like Saudi, Qatar, UAE, Brasil, Kuwait, Russia, etc all have some significant share in their national oil companies, even though the majority share may go to private investors. |
https://www.thecable.ng/wale-edun-says-fg-will-commence-sale-of-state-owned-assets-in-2026/ Finance Minister, Wale Edun Says FG Will Commence Sale of State-owned Assets in 2026. If it is absolutely impossible or very difficult for govt to operate and manage these assets, why not find credible partners and lease these assets over some years e.g. 20,30,50 years instead of outright sale?. The intervening lease period would afford govt the opportunity to assess how well the new managers are operating the assets and use the information to make further decisions. Why just sell off outrightly? Can govt not even sell like 51-60% to a majority investor while govt keeps like 40%? |

brotherly:Real blessing. I would have made huge money if I was liquid at the time he gave most of his stock picks |
