You mean the company paid 325b for 4.29b of its own shares?
Yes, the company paid off the equity of some shareholders (who took the company to court) and retrieved the shares from them

They repurchased treasury shares. This reduced their shares outstanding.

Iskalamong!

.
But the repurchased shares are still meant to be redistributed to shareholders so it should not reduce the outstanding shares (technically speaking), unless they want to give out cash instead of shares or they are deliberating delaying the redistribution to make the EPS look better
Infact 1.2b of the 4.18b shares have been redistributed already so it cannot be 8billion shares

That will create additional 60 billion shares if N3 Trillion debt is converted to equity
Oando does not need to convert all the N3 trillion to equity.
But they need to convert some and also raise enough funds to drastically pay off the interest- bearing commercial loans in order to eliminate or reduce the Finance costs. Once that is fine, equity and profit would be boosted significantly.

Dividend payment is not possible in the next 15 years until Trillions of Naira is injected into the business in form equity. This will enable the business to stabilize
I prefer to analyse Oando in the context that they have publicly announced plans to raise. capital via equiry shares, other instruments and also convert debt to equity.
There is also N287b Treasury Stocks (i.e fully issued shares now repurchased and paid for by the company) which contributes to the negative equity of N553b. Otherwise the actual negative equity would be about N266b.
Oando's debts are secured against its huge reserves.

SpiritedCheer:
Ahmed Bola Tinubu is the most incompetent and criminally corrupt President Nigeria has ever had. In fact, incompetence does not explain the dire situation Tinubu has put Nigeria. He is enriching his family with the destruction of Nigeria. Tinubu’s nephew, Wale Tinubu, is the primary importer of refined petroleum products into Nigeria, though Oando Petroleum, through OVH Energy Marketing Limited. They export Nigeria's clean sweet, crude, and import cheap, dirty petroleum products. Tinubu subsequently enacted energy policy that massively increased price of petroleum products, thereby, creating huge profit for his family - and caused miserable hardship for the country. How much wealth is enough tor Tinubu! Tinubu knows only bribery and corruption. And the only thing that matches Tinubu's insatiable greed for self-enrichment is lust for power. He has used bribery of law makers to turn himself into virtual Dictator. Tinubu looks half-dead, but want to be President-For-Life. He has used bribery to turn the military and security service into his political thugs.
I am not a fan of Tinubu, but you typed about Oando is largely false.
Oando is now an upstream oil and gas company dealing in the extraction and sale of crude oil. And Oando had been operating in the oil and gas industry since the 1990s, long before Tinubu became president in 2023!
Tinubu's performance in govt is not impressive to me, but that does not mean everybody bearing the name ''Tinubu'' must be victimized or lied against because of the poor performance of the president.

Lol.

More than 4 countries allowed the US to use their bases and airspace to fight Afghanistan.

Why didn't they fight Afghanistan all the way from America since they're so powerful? Why use other countries?

The US have never fought any war without military support from all their allies.

Russia went into Ukraine without anyone's support. Despite 35,000 sanctions, they're still fighting till today.
I did not mention anything about ''support''.
I specifically mentioned sharing land boundary

If Russia is taking 4 years to fight Ukraine that they share land boundary with and there is no sign of imminent victory, then that should tell you how strong Russia is.
By the way, if you must know, Russia went to fight Afghanistan and they suffered heavy, severe defeat; more than what you think the US suffered in Afghanistan. Go do your research.

There must be reasons why it took the US 20 years to fight ragtag goat herders and the poorest country in the world Afghanistan. Despite NATO sending thousands of troops to help the US.

Ukraine has recruited Africans, Americans, British, German, French, Italian, Polish, Australians, Finns, Swedes, Colombians, Canadians, Georgians, Spaniards, Japanese, Mexicans, South Koreans, Former ISIS members, Prisoners and fighters from every corner of the world. In their tens of thousands.

Ukraine is forcefully conscripting men from the streets, there are thousands of videos of Ukraine kidnapping and brutalizing Ukrainian men and forcing them to the war front.

But you're concerned about Russia that recruits a handful of Africans and North Koreans who left middle of last year?? Iran and China have never sent a single soldier to Russia.
Does the US share boundary with Afghanistan?
Russia and Ukraine are neighbours and they share a vast area as land boundary between the two countries.
That is different from US that had to fly and travel thousands of kilometres to fight in Afghanistan.
Some of you people cannot contextualize issues properly.

No sir.

Russia has lost 50 million people.

So where are the bodies of the Russians? Or are you eating them?

Why does Ukraine keep sending 30, 50, 60 Russian bodies if Russia has lost millions?
The number of Russians or Ukrainians killed is not my main issue.
There must be reasons why it has taken Russia 4 years to fight a neigbhouring country like Ukraine, even with the forceful conscripting of innocent Africans, plus recruiting Chinese and N. Korean soldiers,

The comedian president just pushed his country into a deep mess and scattered everywhere.

I only pity the Ukraine women because very soon majority won't be able to find a husband.
This your way of thinking is so warped.
You are blaming Ukraine that did not throw a single stone or shoot guns at Russia before Putin declared war that has killed thousands of Ukrainians. You support Russia for killing Ukrainians unprovoked.

But disgustingly, you blame and attack Israel for defending itself and waging war against Hamas terrorists who mercilessly went into Israel and murdered 1,250 citizens and took 250 hostages.

Russia has lost over 1 million soldiers in the war and is now desperately luring and forcing helpless African migrants, and contracting Chinese and N/ Koreans to fight in this war.

@Megawealth is a gem and very helpful on this forum; his stock picks have been goldmines that should enrich a lot of people here on NSEMPA.
He recommended Deapcap at around N1,00. His track record made me do some checks on the stock, bought some units at N1.70 but sold off when I needed cash. Somehow the price rally started 4 days after I sold off. I had to buy back at N3.99 and it's now moving towards the N10-N15 range.
In the last 1 year, he has recommended stocks that have yielded 100% gains and more: Cadbury, PZ, Universal, NB, Tantalizers, Deapcap, etc.

Unserious and confused govt. It is wrong to rely on using under the bridge as bus terminal instead deliberately creating some vast, wide open spaces for the purpose. There is no society that just sells every available space for real estate development without planning for open spaces for bus terminals, recreation etc
Foreign Affairs › Re: Nigeria Is The Fifth-largest Producer Of Electricity In Africa by mikeapollo: 2:21pm On Jan 27
DrMB:
Is Nigeria really an "Energy Giant," or are we just scratching the surface? 🇳🇬⚡️
According to the International Energy Agency, Nigeria is the 5th largest producer of electricity on the continent.
Nigeria’s position among Africa’s top five producers is a profound paradox: despite being a "top" generator, defined by chronic energy poverty. While South Africa and Egypt use their massive outputs to sustain industrial economies, Nigeria’s similar total output is diluted by a population of 240 million, leaving the average citizen with 20 times less power than their South African counterparts.
This creates a "Giant with Clay Feet" scenario where Nigeria’s grid provides just 170 GWh per million people, a staggering contrast to the 3,522 GWh available in South Africa or the 2,001 GWh in Algeria.
If you could solve one part of the energy chain: Generation, Transmission, or Distribution, which would it be?
Let’s discuss the future of the grid in the comments! 👇

This your list is flawed. Do you know what gigawatt means?
Nigeria does not have 40,000 GW of electricity.
Go look for current data and revert

Who forged the tax laws that the LIRS people are trying to rely on now?
If care is not taken, people would go to court and the new law would be declared unconstitutional, null and void and we go back to square one.
Only a dubious govt would go behind the NASS to alter tax laws to give itself powers it does not have.

This is the thievery they want to execute, that is why they forged the tax law so that they can do whatever they like in their bid to extort money from people in the name of tax collection.
