emmanuelewumi:Are you just following the trend of Oando's audited accounts? People would even commend them if they are able to release the 2023 accounts in September 2024 |
emmanuelewumi:The accounts for one financial year must be audited and filed with statutory and regulatory bodies e.g. CAC, FIRS, NUPRC etc before interim or quarterly results of subsequent years can be released. The FY2023 audited accounts for Oando is due for release by ending September |
k4kenny:Please seek more enligthenment on this issue if you don't mind. OVH belongs to NNPC (Group) Ltd |
emmanuelewumi:Q2 2025 results can only be released after FY2024 audited accounts had been released, and that is schedule to be out on or before Sept 30. |
BabsO2:It also depends on the timing of the 2024 results. They may delay and release it together with the Q1/Q2 2025 results when the SHF would be showing positive numbers |
Princkez:What is the source of this , and which officer of Oando confirned the story? This kind of report can create another needless controversy , so we should wait until there is official announcement by the company. The MD of Oando Energy Resources stated clearly in the Arise TV interview that they have no interest or plan to play in the downstream and refinery business. |
Yemy3m:I think the ENI deal might have affected their earlier plans, and they probably decided to seal it to boost their value/ratings before going out to raise more capital. So how has Oando been able to fund their 2024 operations so far? From the Afrexim Bank loan alone or additional loans to be disclosed in the HY2024 results? |
BullBearMkt:Share Holders Fund |

BabsO2: |
BabsO2:You may be right, after all. I was only being very conservative and cautious in my expectations of Oando's performance in 2024. I read a report on the 2023 results stating that its oil exploration and production activity constituted only 4% of total revenue, but contributed 53% of operating profit and 41% of pre-tax profit, indicating very high margins. If this trend is sustained or improved on, then the ENI assets (which fall under production) could make very huge impact for Oando, starting from Q3 2024 |
BabsO2:Oando's shareholders fund position can only improve a bit; I doubt if it would turn to positive with the 2024 results. May be in 2025 or 2026 |
robobo:Smart guy, smart question!; getting set to unleash! |
Sunrisepebble:I have been hinting on the potential impact of FMN's acquisition of Honey Well, although HWF has reorded losses in three straight years after the deal. But I believe the acquisition will yield some strong positives in synergy in logistics, cost efficiency and enhanced profitability for Honey Well as their factory is located near FMN in Apapa. The company is undergoing some restructuring so watch out for a turnaround very soon. |
designking:Lol! Please, be mindful how you use Oando as a yardstick or benchmark for comparing or analyzing other stocks. The stock ''Oando'' and its antecedents is not something that everyone on this platform likes or is comfortable with. So you don't end up having some unnecessary antagonists, like it has happened to some folks. To those antagonists, anyone that is excited about Oando must be either an APC agent, or doing MH (they call it ''Monkey Hunting'') business. Wish you all the best in your investments, whether in FBN, GT, ZB, UBA, JP or Oando or whatever |
FreeStuffsNG:It is sheer ignorance of the people, crooked politics by politicians, ethnic bigotry, biased misleading reportage by jaundiced media, lack of desire to learn by the masses, and permit me to say, their willingness to swallow every foolish story, that are responsible for the terrible situation of Nigeria. It is only people who do not have any basic understanding of corporate governance, and merger and acquisition of companies that would believe the false story that OVH had acquired NNPC Retail! The transaction between OVH and NNPC Retail Ltd. could not have been an acquisition because there was no exchange of any instrument of consideration like payment of cash, issuance of shares or deferred. consideration between the two entities. The transaction was a merger and these are the background info that guided the steps taken by NNPC NNP(Group) Limited in merging NNPC Retail Ltd into OVH, and then renaming OVH as NNPC Retail: 1. Oando was established through the acquisition of Unipetrol filling stations, and later AGIP filling stations in the early 2000s. Unipetrol and AGIP had been operating in Nigeria for decades before year 2000. 2. OVH was marketing Oando products (in former Unipetrol and AGIP) filling stations. i.e. in a total of about 500 locations. 3. Oando divested fully from OVH in 2019, but Vitol(V) and Helios(H) continued to use the brand name ''OVH'' in all the 500 locations. 4. Meanwhile, NNPC established some filling stations (under NNPC Retail Ltd) a few years ago. These filling stations were much fewer (and younger) than the Oando/OVH filling stations. I think the NNPC had roughly about 100 filling stations before they acquired OVH 5. As a result of the above history, it is just common sense to realize that OVH would have a lot more of administrative records, transactions, asset locations, customers, buildings, accounting books and tax records etc. which it inherited from Oando, than NNPC Retail would have. 6. During a process of merger between the 2 entities, the better option is to merge (i.e. transfer) the fewer records from NNPC Retail into the bigger and more complex OVH in order to save time, cost and resources. Let us assume or imagine that every filling station has 100 records, transactions, files etc. of their customers, employees, buildings etc. 6. So, for illustration, OVH would have like 50,000 records and NNPC Retail 10,000. It therefore makes better administrative and economic sense to first merge the smaller entity (NNPC Retail) into the bigger entity (OVH), then go back and effect any name change (NNPC Retail) that you desire after the merger. It is cheaper to move (integrate) the smaller entity into the bigger entity than to move (integrate) the bigger into the smaller entity. This is the professional and rational approach to adopt, and that is what the NNPC(Group) Limited has done. But ignorance, political and ethnic bigotry would not allow some people to educate themselves and learn. Once they hear ''OVH merges with NNPC Retail'', they go to town shouting. Now, NNPC has changed the name of the combined (merged) entity to NNPC Retail Ltd, and it is still a full 100% subsidiary of NNPC Group Limited. My advice to Nigerians; Always scrutinize whatever you hear from politicians before you believe them hook, line nd sinker. NB: I am not a fan of Tinubu. He and his govt are total failures and a disaster as far as I am concerned. But the NNPC Retail - OVH deal is purely about principles of corporate governance, and merger and acquisition |
DevilsEqual:We started when we allowed those useless home videos with occultic money rituals to dominate our TV screens. That was when these things are fed into the souls of youth |
CodeTemplarr:So who should we blame for the reckless decision to float the naira? Where in Africa have you seen or heard that they float their currency and allow the so-called ''market forces'' to determine its value? Did you see or hear any of the previous presidents float the naira.? Is Tinubu wiser or cleverer than all the previous presidents that refused to float the naira? Floating of the naira is just another example of the recklessness, cluelessness and incompetence of Tinubu and his gang of Lagos commissioners that he has now appointed as ministers and advisers |
yMcy56:I am more interested in how FMN's acquisition would turnaround the fortunes of HoneyWell Flour Mills, especially because of synergy, cost savings, efficiency etc as Honey Well is located near FMN in Apapa, Lagos. Honey Well is selling at N4, and FMN at N50 |
Agbalowomeri:Don't mind those people who only specialize in accusing entrepreneurs who are trying to add value to peoples' life and boosting economic activity via jobs creation and value addition. Dangote has not stopped anyone from establishing a cement factory or oil refinery , yet they accuse him of monopoly, while the NNPC that has 4 useless refineries cannot even refine 1 litre of fuel in 30 years and it is busy importing and increasing price of fuel for ever. |
ololufemi:Lol! My bad! Thanks for the clarification. Monkey Hunting ke? Na wa oo. I must be an ''old skool'' type in this NGX business! Apologies to anyone who might have been misled by my wrong interpretation of ''MH'' Kindly re-align my comments accordingly. |
godlyguy:It is not about Oando. I am talking generally! What you call MH (media hype; hope my interpretation is correct), could be a strategic info to someone else! It depends on the level of appreciation or significance or relevance that you attach to such info. For instance, someone has given me an insight info about Unity Bank, and I believe it to be a strategic one that I can use to invest now. But another person would not believe in such info and would rather wait for Unity Bank to release their results before he/she buys the stocks. . Both of us are neither perfectly right nor wrong! It is just a matter of difference in strategy and approach. You may call it media hype, if you wish. But if it works for me, so be it. The end justifies the means. |
godlyguy:How on earth you could decide which shareholders of what stocks are sincere, less sincere or more sincere from the comfort of your laptop/phone, probably hundreds and thousands of miles away from the shareholders, beats my imagination! This forum is for NGX Market Pick Alerts! It is NOT for gauging the level of sincerity of shareholders! So let us help ourselves by releasing the stocks that we believe or know can help us all to make money. If you do not like my choice of stocks, just ignore, and say your own choice. None of us can be said to be sincere or insincere because we have various perceptions of the stocks we choose. Investing is a risk-laden business and we all know it. What we all need are alerts on stocks that can make us achieve good returns; that is what you and I should focus on, not just ringing alarm bells on the stocks we do not like! |
godlyguy:Remember, people have different investment goals and strategies. There are people who have made multibillions by either diversifying their portfolio or taking the risk to focus on a single stock and maximising their returns. At the end, no one is begging for money to invest. I know peope who sold millions of units of good stocks like GTB, Zenith etc and put the money in Oando, and the value has multiplied more than ten fold. |
Harvestock01:I made a similar request few days ago, but he said and I quote, '' that is not my responsibility''! |
ositadima1:Perfect submission! |
kk2027:It is simple! Market Cap = No. of shares in issue x Market price per share Oando has about 12billion shares in issue. Multiply that by about N91-N94 which is the current price range on NGX. The answer gives you the N1.trillion. Mind you, market capitalization is not fixed. It can rise today and fall tomorrow, based on the price trajectory on the NGX. Again, the the number of shares listed by a company on the NGX is also a factor. |

ProphetUtuocha:We are still waiting for the new gem that you promised to release Thanks for your inputs on Oando, but please release the next one. |
Choiceguy:That would tell you about the mindset....immaturity and lack of proper understanding of market dynamics |
Mpeace:Good. Thanks for this. We now have a better perspective of the potentials of SEPLAT and Oando. The article also indicated that there were problems hindering the divestment from Mobil to SEPLAT, which many have ignorantly and mischievously blamed on the preference to favour Oando against SEPLAT. |
Xendre22:Please leave Dangote alone and stop accusing him of monopoly. He has not stopped anyone from doing business or building their own factory. There are other cement manufacturers and oil refineries in Nigeria. So what onopoly are you people accusing Dangote of? A man that employs hundreds of thousand of people in a county with high unemployment and you people still talk nonsense about him. Haba! Your NNPC has 4 refineries that have not produced 1 liter of refined product in 30 years despite billions of dollars spent on maintenance, and you people are shameless accusing Dangote of monopoly. Let your NNPC run their refineries and produce PMS and diesel and there will not be any monoooly, that is all. |
