Salubata: At a time when tensions are escalating globally, with growing hostility involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, you would expect a country constantly portrayed as extreme and intolerant to suppress any form of religious diversity. But reality, as always, tells a more complex story.
While access to one of Christianity’s holiest sites, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem was reportedly restricted, Christians in Iranian cities like Tehran, Tabriz, and Urmia still gathered to mark Palm Sunday, openly practicing their faith even amid the anxiety of conflict and the sound of bombings in the region.
Let that sink in. In the middle of geopolitical tension, sanctions, and threats of war, religious minorities are still observing their traditions. Not erased. Not hidden. Still present. Yet, I came across a comment claiming that the real fear is Iran “Islamising the whole world.” That statement reflects something deeper, not reality, but perception shaped over years.
Because if we’re being honest, the same Iranian state being feared globally hasn’t even imposed a single, uniform religious identity across its own population. There are still churches. There are still Christians. There are still public observances like this.
So the question becomes: what are we really reacting to? facts, or narratives? For decades, especially since the early 2000s, fear has been one of the most powerful tools used in global politics. Entire regions were destabilized under the banner of “security” and “liberation,” based on narratives that were rarely questioned deeply enough. Today, similar patterns continue: repeated messaging, selective coverage, and emotionally charged framing.
This is not about defending any government or ignoring political realities. It’s about refusing to be intellectually passive. Because when the image you’ve been sold doesn’t fully match what you can clearly see, it should at least make you pause.
Think. Question. Look deeper. Not everything is as simple or as one-sided as it is presented.
Those people are hiding to worship in a church in Iran or the church is in a very obscure location. Why not ask for the number of open church services that are allowed in a country of over 90million people.
PMForce: Evidence that Palestinians came from another land than canan.
The Arabs that are now being called ''Palestinians'' never came from Canaan. The land of Israel belongs to Israelites and Jews. All the tribes on the land had either been conquered, or assimilated or inter-married with Israelites and the Israelites had produced several kings on the land in their long history. The ''Palestinians'' are Arabs from Syria, Egypt, Jordan who migrated to live in the land of Israel but refused to leave when the State of Israel was declared in 1948. Their counterparts that accepted to live in peace with Israel after its creation are all living in Israel today as Araba Israelis with all the rights, privileges, freedoms of citizenship.
megawealth01: Na MEGAWEALTH01 be the only audio billionaire in this world oooooo
NGX is a crazy market, truly! NAHCO that I bought and sold when it was around N5-N7 is now N200+ This is how directors could become billionaires overnight! Imagine those who bought like 10m units at the IPO
GeeKudi: This corporate action is not enough to move OANDO when they already 'officially' pegged the price at 50.
I think the N50 is to serve as benchmark for a particular scheme for sometime. It will not remain there for ever; it may soon move to another threshold or benchmark in due course.
debeey87: They have not started producing. There are only two wells in that block currently drilled with oil confirmed in one across several depths. They still need to drill more. That's according to the release.
VOsimhen144: Nigerians should learn to respect other country’s decisions. If South Africa 🇿🇦 doesn’t want a king in Nigeria’s community over there then obey their instructions.
Una no find “leader or chairman” as title, you people went as far as “king”. That’s was too deep.
One secret you should know is that South Africans see Nigerians as a very big threat, so please let be guided.
Nobody sees Nigerians as a threat. Rather, they see us as big nuisance when we fail to respect their laws and cultural values. Just respect the laws and cultural values of their country. Period!
ppogba: In simple terms, it is just about Sanusi showing is typical VINDICTIVE nature. He had axe to grind with Akingbola and Mama Ibru as at then. As at the time the two banks were taken over, Skye Bank then was systemically injured and wounded.
Bottom line, never joke with a contemporary on the same level with you who suddenly gets upgraded above you. Especially as a regulator. Above all, a crab can swallow a Whale in Nigeria.
The bolded is inaccurate and misleading. A CBN governor cannot just liquidate a whole bank just because of vindictiveness or because he/she did not like the CEO. There are rules and laws that guide the operations of banks. Let's stop this tendency of bringing up wild, unfounded conspiracy theories to support or defend big men who might have committed crimes or looted and destroyed our institutions., thereby jeopardizing the economy and millions of jobs. Has Akingbola, Ibru or any other former CEOS been able to challenge the CBN in court and won? I think Bank PHB went to court and they lost! For instance in the case of Ibru, one of her atrocities was that she approved huge personal loans (unapproved by the Board of Oceanic Bank), collected the money, and then used it to build hundreds of branches which she then rented out to the bank at huge annual sums. What do you call that? Depositors funds were being endangered in all these. There were several other issues as well. The truth is, we needed a no-nonsense person like Sanusi, who was bold enough to stand up against the crimes going on in the banking sector, the oil sector with NNPC, and even the legislators who were consuming 25% of national overheads and nobody could talk. We Nigerians always complain that many things are wrong in the country but when we see someone who is bold enough to address these things, we turn around to cook some funny excuses, rumours and stories to muddle the issues
nicestlady: If you sell your shares a day after the qualification date, will you still be entitled to the dividend or bonus?
Yes. Just don't sell before the qualification date if you want to receive dividend or bonus. But the share price will be adjusted for the dividend or bonus on the day after the qualification date.
EDUECO: Why are you so concerned about ACCESSCORP that will pay dividend for 2025 financial year?
You should be concerned about Last Bank (First Bank) that won't pay dividend, but the stock price has been pump from ₦30 to ₦52.
I don't understand your comment. Somebody said he is not seeing the price of Access on the equity list and I told him Access is selling around N26. And I jokingly asked him if he was feeling dizzy. So many folks here have Access in their portfolio, even if they are making fun just to amuse ourselves. I just finished loading my units last week.
ppogba: If you are familiar with the position of the two banks then, what Access was owing Intercontinental had nothing to do with the normal short term inter- bank settlement or indebtedness. Akingbola bailed out Access at a point when their position was precarious. You may wish to argue further perhaps just like I said, if you are not deeply familiar with the case then.
As a caveat, my position is not to pass judge me on any body.
My comments are general, and not meant to contest or disprove your opinion. Access Bank management might have betrayed Akingbola, which is bad!
But the bottom line and fundamental question(s) is/are: Which person or entity broke the Banking law and regulations in a way that compromised or endangered depositors funds and financial health of his bank? Access Bank might have committed some infractions but not all infractions have the same consequences or penalties Access might have been struggling when Intercontinental was doing much better and helping them. But the entity that broke the law and jeopardized depositors funds and financial health of the bank is the one whose license would be revoked. It was just bad that the people that Akingbola helped turned around to betray him (if the story is true). This however does not absolve Akingbola of the wrongs and offences that CB accused him of. Betrayal by friends or partners in business is painful and bad, but there is no law against it. Same way Otedola said Tony Elumelu betrayed him.
ppogba: The same Access Bank that was indebted to the same Intercontinental before the acquisition or which one?
Banks always have inter-bank transactions so owing one another is normal. What is not acceptable is for a CEO or management to violate the banking law, rules and regulations and indulge in or perpetuate fraud or criminal activity that jeopardizes depositors funds and financial health of the bank
Greed may be immoral but it different from fraud or crime! .
The 109 properties in London (IF TRUE), paints a picture of a greedy person who amassed wealth in the midst of poor people around him that may be suffering. But did he break any law? If yes, then let the CBN go after his estate and anybody that may be involved. Access Bank started operations in 1989, and with the kind of money that these bank CEOs made during Soludo's bank recapitalization of 2004-2006 when dollar was around N120, these guys could have acquired billions of their bank shares for as low as 0.50k (nominal value) at inception and sold as high as N30 or N40! Imagine someone having N50billion when dollar was N120 or N150. That is about $300m - $400m which could conveniently buy 100 houses in London (as investments for future streams of income). Then add the billions of dividends received annually.
It could be morally wrong, but did he break any law or steal depositors' or the bank's money?
And sometimes, we should even blame shareholders who only care about receiving dividends and close their eyes to bad corporate governance. As long as dividend is paid, they keep singing praises of management until the bubble bursts. That was the case of banks like Intercontinental and Oceanic Bank. If Access Bank directors are also guilty of breaking the rules, the CBN must deal with them as well. Simple
Even Sanusi Lamido is reported to make N474m just as non-executive director of MTN, just for contributing to corporate governance and attending board meetings
alfajohn: The late guy man was running things for the political establishment that was why Akingbola said people crying at his burial know the reason why they were crying not just to mourn the passing of the deceased.
Which Akingbola? Is it Erastus Akingbola, the former CEO of Intercontinental Bank who was sacked? If Yes, then he is just jealous and pained that Access Bank acquired Intercontinental Bank after he was sacked by Sanusi Lamido for running the bank aground.. He is obviously throwing shades as Sanusi who cried at Wigwe's burial. Sanusi explained his relationship with Wigwe and Access bank during his speech at the burial. I suggest you google the video and play it.
panafrican: Let's set the record straight. Netanyahu is the troublemaker in chief, He wanted that war, he was at war long before Trump took over. He aggravated Iran then called for a backup.
The next Israeli PM will be more brutal than Netanyahu. Before Netanyahu, there was Ariel Sharon who was thought to be too hard and brutal. Now, people are talking about Netanyahu No Israeli PM would sit down and allow their enemies to destroy Israel. The only language the enemies understand is superior brute force.
DomPerignon: You are the gaslighting propagandists here
The holiest church in Christiandome which is the Church of Holy Sepulchre located in Jerusalem has been under lock and key by the satanic zionists.
This church is believed to be sited on the grounds were Jesus was crucified.
Also, both the Al Qasa mosque and the Golden dome rock mosque have both been under lock and key.
The implications of this is that Muslims were denied access to their mosque to celebrate the end of Eid. While Christians will not be allowed to worship throughout this lent and Easter period in their church.
The Jew is denying both Christians and Muslims their holy places of worship.
To the Jew, only they are supposed to worship God and we Christians and Muslims can only worship God through Jew worship which is what you IPOB goons are already doing.
This article below was written by a Jew converted to Christianity
You are the one gaslighting people here. Christians are not fighting Israel or Jews. It is the Muslims and Palestinians (living on Israel's land in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria etc) who are fomenting violence and trouble that made Israel to close those places. Even the place you call Al Aqsa mosque; it is originally the site of Solomon's Temple. There was no mosque there when Solomon built the Temple. You said Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem at a time when there was nothing like Islam and nobody called Palestinians in the area. But today, Muslims and so called Palestinians are fighting and claiming that Jerusalem belongs to them. This i why the place must be secured and protected by Israel. Can you see why there is always crisis and violence in the area? Because some people just want to claim the land of Israel from Israelis/Jews
PMForce: The Latin parish priest of the last entirely Christian village in the West Bank appealed for the solidarity of Christians worldwide in the face of new attacks by “fanatical Israeli settlers” seeking to displace the local population.
Father Bashar Fawadleh issued an appeal on Saturday, March 21, telling ACI Prensa, the Spanish-language sister service of EWTN News, that the lands seized this week by Israeli settlers “belonged to the people of Taybeh and were, moreover, our private property.”
It is highly misplaced and mischievous for anyone to describe Israelis and Jews as ''settlers'' in their ancient land of Judea and Samaria (which some Arabs and others call West Bank). That is partly where the problem is coming from because you don't call people derogatory names on their ancestral land. Imagine Fulani Muslim or Christian i 100 years from now describing Benue and Plateau people living in Makurdi and Jos as settlers.
QuinQQ: Igbos are Israelites but NOT Jews. Their founder left long before establishment of ancient Israel. Where did Igbos get all the Jewish customs in the Bible that they have always followed religiously??
The Jews and Israelites have not accepted or acknowledged it yet, but it is being forced on them? Do you know how many ethnic groups or tribes that have similar Jewish customs? So it does not mean it is only the Igbo.
This is a global feat inspired by Ghana, a country that some ignorant people call ''ordinary Ghana''. The so called ''giant of Africa'' was just there, looking.
Image123: Even me i vote against compensation, especially monetary. It will be largely embezzled. Cunning man wants to collect billions of pounds and dollars for another person's suffering hundred years ago. Na you go first slave abi? Imagine Israel waiting for slave money from Egypt instead of going ahead with their lives and development. Na only black man be slave before? Who is going to pay for the worse than slave trade treatment of many workers around the world today, especially in Africa and Asia? Abeg, leave sentiments.
QuinQQ: The proof is all over the Bible. Igbo or Ibo is a corruption of the name "Hebrew". Eri, one of the sons of Jacob, left Egypt and headed south before the rest of Israel left via the Red sea. Many original Igbo villages are named "Eri's children" and there are many words that intersect. Then there are conmon customs like circumcision, burial rites, etc
How come Israelis and Jews accepted and acknowledged Ethiopian Jews but did no accept the Igbo as Jews?
Mrexcell: But no isreal or US troops is on ground yet in iran currently?
There is no decision yet to deploy ground troops in Iran. There are different types of war and different strategies. This war is not meant to defeat Iran's military on the ground. It is meant to destroy Iran's nuclear and ballistic capabilities, and possibly inspire a change in regime, if conditions warrant.
QuinQQ: I thought Idi Amin chased out Jews and Indians from the same Uganda
But Idi Amin was not doing the wish of the people. He was a tyrant dictator who misruled Ugandan in a way never seen before and to date When he was overthrown, he went into exile in Saudi Arabia. He was a muslim.
Mrexcell: No real Christian nation will ever wish for the total destruction of isreal but I don't think Uganda has the capacity to assist isreal in this ongoing war of sophisticated missiles and armed drones.
Every country can help. Help can come in different forms. Africans contributed troops to the World War as far back as 1940s.
