I studied insurance. I didn't school in unilag eventually so I might not know any gist about their actuarial science being reckoned wit or not. But I know actuarial science is a course that will never leave u jobless if u have at least a good result

yea dats right, career prospects aint too encouraging in Nigeria for now, but its crazily in high demand overseas where actuaries are needed in a large number

Unilag offers actuarial science to jambites on a platter of gold with cut off mark as low as 52. Once u are good with calculations this course won't be a problem

I actually learnt unilag actuarial sci degree isn't reckoned with by SOA nor FSA because most of their lecturers there av not taken d professional exams

I'm a trained Actuary. Studied Actuarial Science/Insurance. About going for M.sc in Act. Sc in UK. This field is so so unexploited in Nigeria. Just get in it and u'll get offers you wouldn't even believe. Everybody wanna go for big big courses, but I know what I've got.

Are they called actuarial scientist or actuary/actuarial? Though I didn't study actuarial science, I did intro to actuarial science as a course and believe me actuarial science is a nice field which application to real life situation is vast. Would've studied the course, but unilag was making a big deal of it by requesting for a credit in further maths at ssce level.

It's easy to coerce students especially if the field work is a course of 4 or 6 units. You simply threaten everyone with a D and the result is the choir we are reading above.

Norway Quota Scheme for Students from Developing Countries

Scholarship Overview

The Norwegian government provides scholarships for students from developing countries and countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia through the Quota Scheme.
Most of the programs offered are at Master’s or PhD level, but the Quota Scheme also offers certain Bachelor’s study programs.

This is an excellent scholarship but can be difficult to understand.

You may also search the online Master’s programme catalogue which provides an overview of all study programs at Master’s level that are offered in English at Norwegian universities and university colleges.

What does the scholarship cover?

Each student receives the same amount of money as a Norwegian student would do in an equivalent educational programme. 40 per cent of the amount is given as a grant and 60 per cent as a loan. However, the loan portion may be waived when the student returns to his/her home country after completing the course of study. Students who stay in Norway after finishing their studies or take up residence in another country than their home country must repay the loan.
Travelling expenses for entry into Norway may be reimbursed (fixed price).
Students can apply for one annual home visit if the educational programme lasts longer than one year and for financial support for travelling expenses for field work during the course of study.
When the student returns home within 3 months after finishing his/her studies, the cost of travelling home is covered by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund.

Am I Eligible to Apply?

The Quota Scheme will only enroll students from institutions (organizations, universities, authorities) which have collaboration agreements with Norwegian universities or university colleges. Norwegian institutions usually do not admit free movers (individual applicants) to this scheme. Only in very special cases will free movers be considered. Please contact the institutions directly for individual information.

All candidates should typically have the following basic qualifications:

Secondary school certificates
Minimum two years of higher education from their home country
Most of the study programs offered under the Quota Scheme are taught in English. Applicants who are not native English speakers therefore must document their proficiency in English

How to I Apply – Next Steps

All inquiries should be directed to the International Office at the institution in question. Applications should be sent directly to the institutions and SIU is not responsible for received applications.

I am a mechanical engineering student of one of the prominent Federal Universities of Technology in Nigeria studying mechanical engineering. I am in my 300L now second semester.

I have always been a hardworking and bright student but the thing is that my hardwork is not yielding fruits compared to the effort I put in. I starve myself of the University pleasures and activities and sacrifice my time on the Alter of Studying to make sure I get good grades but instead my result is not showing my hardwork.


Currently I am a 3.17 CGPA student and I need advice on ways I can boost it to a second class upper.
