Ok I think that we are on the same subject, what im saying is that the edge ATGM had on tanks has reduce with passive/active PS but ATGM like you said are very good. (I havnt said ATGM are obsolet to but are less effective or maybe going to be obsolet against modern day tanks ). An example is with Trophy on the Merkava. No tanks were damaged during Operation Protective Edge, with the Trophy Active Protection system performing over a dozen interceptions of anti-tank weapons including Kornet, Metis and RPG-29.
For sure ATGM are very used, build it in the country will be a better investment than buy it from another country. Why I want a tank because it is more easy to buy a ATGM during a heavy fight than buy a tank when you are under fire. Im not expert in military thats why I listen to experts and they basicly all agree attack is the best defense.
And in APS Russians has the lead they are the first to devolp it and say that the APS used on Armata is the best in the world...

There is a move to produce munitions capable of hitting vehicles with AP systems(eg Denel's proposed stealth Ingwe missile). There just isn't a huge need for those yet.

There is no such thing as "best in the world" that system might not perform well in Africa. Similar the SA system had to undergo changes for the European environment.

everything is wrong with a trainer being used in combat roles. its not right it only shows that the air force is unserious with its defense.

At the maximum a trainer can only carry two 250kg bomb with two rocket pods. with that bombload how many aircraft or how many sorties do you think you would need before you put an enemy base out of commission?

During a night patrol on the Blida-Tipaza axis, a rescue helicopter belonging to the Naval Forces was crashed on Sunday at 9.40 pm after having struck high-voltage power lines , causing the death of the members of its crew, composed of three officers.

The COAS is under command of the CDS.

The CDS has the navy, air force & army under his command.

Not according to my knowledge. Rheinmetall were pushing for their system as a possible upgrade within the inner tier of an air defence system.

Most technology advanced projects in SA especially Denel's are on halt cause of funds.

The have been mentions of projects like the Small guided bomb, Stealth Ingwe ATGM, LED-150 etc.

Air power. The technological advances in air power I think has seen air dropped munitions taking the roles filled by heavy guns or howitzers.


Only those offering smaller fire power compared to available air dropped munitions are currently still widely utilized. 155mm and lower countries utilizing anything above are probably offsetting a serious need for air bombardment.

If the effectiveness or the capability in terms of destruction is available in air power then I think it is to avoid having your nuclear arsenal exposed to special forces or or similar forces shadowing your conventional forces.


Just adds stress to tactical commanders similar to the president showing up on the battlefield. Command is a stressful thing. The land isn't the ocean. The written S.O.P for moving them around would be composed of 4000 pages.

I think sometimes you tend to underestimate how truly Dangerous these missions really are.Please understand these SF are going into embedded Enemy territory.The surprise is not to sound cold is that the Casualties are low.These are extremely very Dangerous missions.

They are being misused.
