Patchesagain: Sorry, what I ment is more comprehensive med-aid bags - not just somma a plaster and bandage. Buddy aid. It is for chaps to help each other before the medic/doctor arrives. Like they can stop bleeding, cover wounds etc. |

Patchesagain: - tactical vests are better in the bush. Seen american soldiers lumbering around in videos in A-stan? Even the Americans after Joint Accord I commented on how quickly our guys moved in the bush.
- Yet it provides limited protection against frag
- Side arms are meaningless, moving away from rifles to carbines is a more meaningfull improvement.
- Meh... there is a circular argument about boots right now. Leather ones provide better support, last longer and provide more warmth when it gets cold (like in the desert), material ones are lighter.
More meaningfull improvements would be: - individual comms sets - personal med aid-bags - optics for weapons - carbines - better load bearing harnesses - lighter squad MG's (South AFrica did this with the SS-77 [pics]) The R4 with a 50 mag is used in the SAW role in the SANDF. First aid can be carried in the vest. and it is. And oh you forgot: Blue force tracker down to every infanteer. |

Henry240: Tactical vests and bulletproof should be a single unit. Not two different items. Why? Only major western nations do that. Plate carriers are also heavy. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by MikeCZAR: 8:42pm On Jan 28, 2016 |
Henry240: Only the OPS Core helmets and Side arms can go to specialised units. The others would remain for the Infantry man. Also a change of service rifle, more mordernised rifles chambered in the 7.62, 5.45 should remain with specialised units. Tactical vests? |

Henry240: "Why, why?" ........ It's a basic gear that's why. Makes soldiers look smart and very photogenic.
-Besides bulletproof vest shouldn't come separate from the Tactical vest. They should be one single unit.
- the OPS Core FAST helmet is currently the best in the world, it stops 7.62mm at close range.
- Secondary side arm should be a compulsory asset.
- the old boats are to heavy, soldiers should all switch to the more efficient, durable and light boats. Specialised infantry not regulars. |

South African defence industry does NOT produce jet fighter rocket pods, Nigeria makes them at NAF weapons industry, we beat yöu on that !!!
Go dië of envy, you import rocket pods for SAAF jets, NAF staff makes our own at home !
. It is a copy or licence produced of a pod already integrated on the Alpha jet. SAAF jets don't use unguided aerial rockets. |

agaugust: Nigerian Airforce reconfigures Trainer aircraft bought from USA
“Convinced that the project would work, the NAF consequently assembled a team of technicians to develop a feasible model for the project. The weapons model worked on ground, and the weapons has since been mounted on the Alpha Jets, and test flown successfully.
“This feat is a major research and development breakthrough for the NAF and the Nation as a huge foreign exchange saver given that the project only cost about N400, 000.00 compared to what would be required to have it done abroad” the statement concluded.

Henry240: - Prove the Aircraft Electronics in the Gripen are better than on the JF-17
- the JF-17 carries Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground, Anti-Shipping missiles.
- Thrust in both Aircrafts are thesame. A. Operates inferior weapons needs to be upgraded to use other weapons. Raising costs. - Similar to your ipad or computer operating system you won't have certain features or use some applications if you're stack with a previous operating system. With that said to use say 5th generation missiles like the IRIS-T SRAAM you'll need "certain features" to use them. So your country will have to pay millions for this. - Mostly which are inferior to what is available in the market. Like in terms of air to air weaponry it is limited to Chinse and a few Brazilian AAMs. Nothing impressing besides the PL-12. - The RD-93 is just problem. One SA company fitted the original one the 33 on a Mirage. |

Henry240: We sure won't be struggling to raise 9 pilots for our fleet after 16 years.
We also won't be paying $65 million dollars a unit for planes which are essentially JF-17s, unlike a certain air force in Southern Africa. - Avionics. - Weaponry. - Propulsion. |

Henry240: That's the thing, in an ambush, they'll all die. The weather alone is enough to even break them.
The best vehicle i've seen is definitely the vehicle proforce is offering for it's Special Combat Vehicle category. My only problem is, there is no provision for a GPMG for the front passenger gunner.
The Gurza 2 from Azerbaijian is also nice, but it does provide enough protection.
Pound for pound, the Gurza 2 satisfies on all parameters and is the best SF vehicle I've ever seen. They're unlikely to fall into ambushes. As they operate mostly outside the battlefield. If they do those vehicles carry a heavy punch. What did the Selous scouts use during Operation Eland? |

Henry240: Does this comment make any sense to you?
It's unbelievable how you South-Africans think to be honest. The reason you're acquiring that turkey is because of the warm relations between Pakistan and Nigeria. Is that what are saying? Not doctrine, defence policy, operational requirements and costs. |

agaugust: Reason why I hate those open body SF vehicles, if terrorist AK-47 dont kill the SF, heavy rain, sand storm, whirlwind, super hot sunshine will bastardize the men, degrade their equipment, and weaken their bodily stamina. I have those type of uncovered open body special forces vehicles. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by MikeCZAR: 4:20pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
Henry240: With the JF-17 multi-role fighter, it was and has always been a forgone conclusion. The Nigerian Air Force was always going to get JF-17s from PAC/CATIC.
The relationship we have with the Pakistanis, especially in the Air Force is very very strong. 50+ years of a strong relationship with the Pakistani Air Force ensured that we were always going to get them.
The JF-17 as well as the J-10, MIG-29 & SU-30 were the only other options. Two engine jets were off the question, leaving the JF-17 and the J-10. Capabilities and requirements ignored basically? |

Henry240: A human body can only resist bad, punishing weather for so long....... Then he breaks, it's nature.
Staying under the rain for a couple of days don't mean much. Can a body continuously receive punishing weather, no. Rough and tough men are trained to withstand the elements. The vehicles have covers. |
