africaken: uganda people defence forces was and is still in CAR hunting Kony, seleka has tried to engage UPDF but they have being met with severe resistance Your point? The UPDF never engaged the Seleka force reinforced by units commanded by the brother of a certain president. Which took Bangui or should I say. The reason UPDF is there is a strategic one. |

africaken: you claim your the best trainer's in africa and the many countless of countries you have trained(even thou most of this trainers are former apartheid era soldiers) then you tell us how gallant your were in CAR.When the truth you were forced to leave(no wonder your giving out that book about your false account in CAR free)the victor stays and the loser leaves
Do this soldiers look to you went to CAR as trainers or to protect the capital from falling to the seleka ! The majority of the SANDF general and senior officers are from the cold war era wars. With a lot of experience in both counter-terror and terror ops. Both sides which fought each other. If the force was to deploy for COIN ops and difficulties were met solutions or answers wouldn't be outsourced or found with heavier casualties at a later stage. A slight number of instructors are from what you describe as "apartheid era". |

Do this soldiers look to you went to CAR as trainers or to protect the capital from falling to the seleka ! The strategic decision to withdraw was made by the Commander in Chief not the guys on the ground. After a meeting in Chad. The regional blog refused to provide a relief force if an invasion ops was to carried. The enemy force left behind was mauled and later harassed by anti-balaka. Their sf backers left them. |

Anyone saw the frontal view of this soldier's kit?....... So cool!!!
It makes any SF soldier not wearing the new S.F uniform look like a vegetarian. I did. Isn't he a marine though? |

Henry240: Nigeria has been acquiring mobile tactical Radars, we got a couple units of Tri Shield 36DG Tactical radars in 2015.
The Nigerian Air Force would operate mainly in the West-African region, the JF-17 has enough juice to cover a significant part of the region, the SU-34 would completely cover the region.
The way i've set-up my ideal Air Force is very manageable. Not necessarily. |

Henry240: Forget the SU-35, 6 units of SU-35s would not save us from an impeding rape by French Rafale fighters.
What we desperately need is the SU-34 Fighter-Bomber. Have you seen............ I mean have you seen that plane and the capabilities it can perform? It's simply unbelievable!
My ideal setup:
18-20 units of JF-17 Block II
12 units of SU-34 Fulback
24 units of L-15 or 24 Yak-130 By trying to strategically position the Nigerian armed forces as a force to counter and defeat an enemy the size and powerful as the French without a relief force from a super power is impossible. As maintaining such a force would be highly expensive and a whole political ammo crate for the opposition. In my view the French should be countered by Nigeria offering a security umbrella for countries in west Africa: - A capability to produce and supply weapons in the region. - Building an expeditionary force able to respond within short notice able to bring to the ground a battalion group with support such as armour, artillery etc Regarding fighters: The numbers should allow the air force to externally deploy 4 - 8 frontline fighters. The money for Fullbacks should go to acquiring mobile or air transportable ground based air force radars with long range (100km+) and command systems(mobile and air transportable). Cause the JF-17 with airial refuelling and the right ammo can bring a strong strike capability. It is a multi- role aircraft after all. |

andrewza: the old SA defense review had a requirement for two light fighter squadrons and one meduime. Yet we got only the light. Things change and any case buying in small batches here and there is costly. Better to buy a larger batch even if it is on credit. It more cost effective The 98 recommendation was still to replace the 250 fighter aircraft we had that time with 50 advanced jets. which is what was done. The SAAF as seen with project curver initially wanted a fighter in the class of the Eurofighter Typhoon or Rafale. they simply had to balance the requirements. |

africaken: india air force is not keeping its SU-30 in the hangar they are seriously abusing those machines .they are being invited to red flag also the royal air force have invited for joint training ,they have won within visual range combat against F-15 and euro typhoon and when it comes to beyond visual range combat non of the western combat jets can compare with the number air to air missiles the russians su-30 jets can carry .a su-30 with modern digital radio frequency memory monopulse jammers is capable of causing likely much more than a 50 percent degradation of beyong visual range missile kill probability also a SU-30 can switch off its radar and use its OLS-30 laser-optical Infra-red search and track to shoot its opponent Why are you ignoring the infra-red search and track capability of western fighters? The west currently has better AAMs both SRAAMs and BVRAAMs. |
