get materials and read on your own. i have materials - video tutorials + simulators. if u in lag, then we can work sth out |
are they from CBT Nuggets? |
@codeb and aspiring CCNA test takers, I think @ the CCNA level, packet tracer should be used. introducing GNS3 at this level will cause undue stress as they'd have to battle with downloading individual cisco IOSes for each router model and don't forget the inability of GNS3 to emulate catalyst switches - i ktnow there's a work-around but i don't think it's worth it at this level. i used packet tracer and even routersim and they were both very intuitive supporting all the commands required at the ccna level. Hey AJ, i really appreciate your contributions on this thread. this is my background/Question: i have a Hpnours degree in civil engineering, but always had a natural flare in IT.started out polishing my IT skills back in school and secured a job in a Telecoms company shortly after graduating as an NOC engineer. that helped me brush up on my skills in application development, server/network infrastructure.after 18months i moved to an ISP also as an NOC backbone enginner. i've gained microsoft certifications up to PRO level in windows server 2008, cisco CCNA, and Oracle. i have fantastic and almost limitless exposure etc to network infrastructure(servers, routers, switches , routable IP addresses etc) as i manage them. My challenge is, i feel my career is on a plateau. what are the steps needed for me to move on to the next level?more studying, certifications(am working on CCNP) how do i get the exposure to the companies that require staff that possess my skillset etc. i really want to move . do i need to branch off and consider manager-level diplomas/certificates?. Any advice will be greatly appreciated |
TVContinental nor get money na, |
Hey nicesoul, i've sent u an email. so how du you think we could have a meeting of minds and have like probably an online discussion group on cisco topics, jobs in d industry and general stuff. we'd begin by introducing ourselves and give details of our job/work descriptions. so we all have a sense of brotherhood. i really hope this works. |
Yeah, i'm all in for an email group. please guys this forum should be kept alive by you and i to ensure we sharpen ourselves and encourage aspiring professionals in this beautiful field of Cisco Networking. |
hmm. dragnet is conducting it. try to find out dragnet's test format and you'll be prepared for what they bring. |
LOL, this reminds me of the thread also on the front page where the OP came to 9ja to get a wife and he's now lamenting that she's this n that. Please tell me where dremoney will go to find a wife if he can't get in UK,America or even Nigeria, |
yes o! the passion is the key, but to get by in the industry, certifications are necessary, |
with earpiece and charger intact. |
i have one for 48k. philip i called u and u promised to call me back. |
@OP, this thread has the reputation of being worthwhile. You should kickoff with a discussion germane to the thread title, e.g the challenges/benefits etc, of the industry, |
@bachman, i presume you ISP is running on a VSAT backbone right? just ask your service provider(Gilat/Intelsat et al) for an upgrade patch for the firmware on your modem or replace your modem. All should be fine. For learning cisco to whatever level, lab hours entered cannot be overemphasized. if you can't afford to tinker with production routers in your office, buy one or two. if you can't afford it, then download simulators e.g packet tracer, routersim etc. |
is it Apple vs Non Apple computers or Apple's Mac OS versus other Operating sytems that we're discussing? I beleive if microsoft made hardware to run it's Windows OS, it would make something as Novel as Apple does. But it does not! They focus on OS softwares to run on an Ubiquitous and cheap Architechture. That's why they're making so much money from software sales. You talk of apple and security in terms on viruses etc. It is only logical for Virus writers to write malicious software code for the most common OS available. Just as you dont hear of viruses attacking an Android OS, or Apple's iOS, instead they focus on Nokia's Symbian OS because you have more Nokia Phones Out there than any other. So Stop the no-virus BS. Alot of views that have been potrayed here especially those leaning towards the Mac are biased. My take on Apple versus non apple computers, i'd go for Non-apple computers because of what i do everyday. I want a non-apple computer/server i can decide whether to run RedHat or Windows server 2008 etc, not a rigid architecture that permits only Apple's OS. Something i can quickly and easily do Hot Swaps for memory and Gigabit Network Interface cards. Something Easily upgradeable et.c |
@OP this is 2 years down the line from your initial post. do you care to tell the house what you did next; in essence what other exam you took between then and now, how it's affected you with respect to your job and advice/regrets, |
@poster: Thank God for you! Just try to think 'outside the box' and set a legacy for yourself and others to follow. PS: its an opportunity to beef up your CV, concomitant with the job should be opprtunities for seminars, workshops and trainings. be attentive, learn from the best in the industry and dont forget to do more certifications e.g MBA, CIMA et al, Wish you the best! |
Wonderful thread! I've gained alot of insight! keep it up Guys, |
@tudor, u only quote the part of the bible that supports your argument. you quote the bible, but do u beleive in it? you talked about missionaries building schoole etc in d past and u wondered why modern churches do not emulate same. i'm not here to argue for or against, but i wonder if you'd even accept the teachings of the same missionaries whose qualities you extoled earlier? i just want clarity so i understand where you're coming from and your posts, |
dating girls in school sef is too much work! they have issues, it's hard for them to be faithful even if they plan to because other guys abound except you.money et al, |
@OP: you need to act with lots of caution. don't let "love" get in the way of informed judgement! She may have been romping with someone else in lagos. If she truly loves you, she'd have contacted you first thing when she got to lagos. i guess she was in a compromising spot and didnt want u to know of her 2-timing prowess. But eh, still hear her out to get a balanced view but leave out the ring and the job part during the discussion! |
@denzel2009, naija banks impose a surcharge if you make withdrawals less than 20k or so over the counter. They say they're trying to decongest the banking hall. so your advocation for people to drop their ATM cards won't hold much water coupled with the fact that if everyone dumps their cards, the banks will just abandon the idea of ATM instead of finding a lasting solution to the issue. |
please dont give out your genuine card details online indescriminately. if u have to enter your pin number on any site, make sure it's the java type where you have to click in your pin no with your mouse and enusre you see the interswitch secure logo as well as the "https://" before the site domain name. the "s" in http(S):// tells you the connection to the remote site is of a secure nature to prevent ur information being sent in plain text format. |
poster has found greener pastures na, dem girls want a piece of da action ![]() |
LOL @ Pastor Tatase! ps- hope you're good? |
