When i checked my admission status on jamb website, my course was stated but when i checked lasu web, i saw my name but the course column was blank. Hope im safe. Did it happen to u too. see pic below.
Sheettle pls respond abeg it's like that cus you selected putme result checker not admissions status checker. Go to lasu homepage and where you see new students click there, you'll see a column for checking admissions status. Congratulations, did you chose lasu as first choice and what did u use in applying? A'levels |

Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Millex(m): 4:42pm On Dec 09, 2015 |
dearpiriye: I have no idea y dey do dat but im sure dey have very strong reasons for it. They need to state it clearly that " we would consider you but likely not admit you" cus quite a few people in zoology, mcb, nd some other departments are doing the courses cus the have the hopes that at the end of their degrees they can apply using it for Direct entry. Nigeria can just make someone frustrated, cause they state that those with A levels, Degree equivalents can apply. They should have just said only first class can apply. Nigeria isn't just it at all. |
Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Millex(m): 12:47pm On Dec 09, 2015 |
Vcojuro: The University of Ibadan admission into mbbs through direct entry is the very transparent. Either u come in through A-level or the normal second class upper. But it is is advisable you have a very strong second class upper in a relevant field such as biological sciences such as microbiology, zoology and basic medical sciences such as physiology, anatomy. For the A-level it Is advisable u have a minimum of AAB in Cambridge A-level examination. They don't accept ijmb. This newly admitted set of mbbs are 27 but previous years they were higher than 27. My friend had a very high 2:1 BSc Physiology yet no issue. |
Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Millex(m): 12:25pm On Dec 09, 2015 |
dearpiriye: that's kus dey favoured alevels as most of dem had very good results Without giving consideration to Degree applicants. That isn't a basis for merit No is it fair to Degree applicants. Then it's nigeria there is nothing like fairness. |
Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Millex(m): 12:10pm On Dec 09, 2015 |
Vcojuro: Direct entry into medicine in the University of Ibadan is based on merit. A total of 27 students were admitted into 200 level mbbs programme. The mistake I noticed aspirants aspiring to be admitted into medicine and surgery programmes in Nigeria medical schools is that most aspirants don't know the admission policy of certain schools. some certain schools like uniben and unilorin don't release their cutoff so most candidates that chose those don't know whether they attained the stipulated cutoff or not. I have heard cases of people scoring as high as 80 and still not admitted. The second mistake that I noticed aspirants do make is seeking for admission in schools that has a low merit quota I.e the no of candidates that they admit on merit is less than 50 percent for each set. It is not that they don't admit candidates on merit but the no they admit through influence is equal or more than the merit quota schools like unizik, aau, delsu, oau, uniben, unilorin. Schools with 60 %- 80%percent for merit quota in medicine and surgery are UNN and unilag. Schools with 95 percent merit quota for medicine is UNIBADAN I.e ui. Then lastly the fault lies with the candidates, some candidates don't know how to prepare for jamb and post jamb. Some have not started preparation for next year jamb up to this moment that I am typing the article. some are preparing with irrelevant materials and textbook No offense but you didn't explain anything about DE, |

Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Millex(m): 12:00am On Dec 08, 2015 |
Vcojuro: If u want to study medicine and enter hitch free without any delay in admission it is advisable u pick the University of Ibadan. Their merit quota is very high it is like 95 percent. A total of 109 students were selected on merit for medicine that was when the cutoff was 74 for mbbs.
After that the cutoff was further reduced to 72 though not official, 37 candidates were selected. I knew a lot of guys who had 72 and 73 that were selected. These guys didn't use influence neither did they pay any dime they were just hoping onto God. There are 147 newly admitted set of mbbs students and it is very certain that at least 130 students had above the cutoff . There was a guy who scored 72 and he thought the admission board won't reduce the cutoff to 72 for medicine. so he applied for change of course to physiology when the supplementary list came out he was admitted for medicine. If anyone tell you that most Universities don't have a merit quota that person is lying. In fact all Universities have a merit quota but the merit quota for most Universities is very small, some are not even up to 30 percent of the Class. In the process u waste ur time, energy and money especially your time . And one might suffer psychology and the experience may traumatizing leading to erosion of confidence and poor self esteem Some school will tell you that they are the best but go and check the merit quota for their top courses like medicine, law and accounting and compare it with those they admit through influence, lobbying and long legs. You will see that those of influence far out numbers those on merit. A year wasted is an opportunity wasted. Don't say you were not informed. So wise up. You have no excuse for not studying medicine if that is your passion. I repeat NO EXCUSE How about their DE?, did they use merit for that too |
