I was just laughing from ear to ear watching and reading about the APC rally in Ibadan. Come on!!!

The APC is the ruling party for God's sakes. After failed rallies in Abj, the nation's capital,failed rallies in many Northern states. He's been literally pushed to the defensive by holding mini rallies at his home front.

What a shame from a supposed ruling party!

The Labour Party pulled a nation wide, hell, international rallies, simultaneously, on Nigeria's independence
day and over shadowed the celebrations. Who watched the President's speech? That's right, few!

My people, there was three different LP rallies in the North Western state of Kaduna, in a day. Three! A structureless party. No be juju be that?!

There are indications that the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka will no longer be in charge and officiate liturgical activities at the Adoration chaplaincy.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that Fr Mbaka on Thursday announced in a statement that Adoration Ministry activities would resume on Sunday.

However, SaharaReporters gathered that drama unfolded as an attempt to replace Mbaka with another priest by the Enugu Catholic Bishop Callistus Onaga was resisted on Sunday as the congregation attempted to mob the new priest.

Mbaka had barely announced his successor when Adoration faithful who had thronged the Emene ground to receive him after about three months of suspension went wild in protest.

They were shocked by the transfer of Mbaka after months of suspension and vehemently rejected the new Chaplain.

SaharaReporters learnt that the revolt was soon directed at the new priest identified as Fr. Anthony Amadi, who had to be whisked away as the crowd surged to attack him.

Mbaka according to sources will be going to a monastery for the time being.

Meanwhile, some of the Adoration faithful, who spoke to SaharaReporters have vowed that no other priest would be welcome to the Chaplaincy, alleging a gang-up from certain quarters in the church against Mbaka.

The Catholic Bishop of the diocese, Most Rev Onaga, on June 3 banned Fr Mbaka from commenting on partisan politics.

Shortly after the initial ban was lifted, Mbaka violated the ban and verbally attacked Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, describing him as a 'stingy man'.

Following outrage and condemnation that trailed the attack on Obi, the Bishop issued a pastoral injunction on attendance to Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu, and enjoined all Catholics to stop visiting the ministry till further notice.

The Bishop also advised the Catholic faithful to pray for Mbaka.

Onaga had said, "In the light of the happenings in the Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu; capable of undermining the Catholic faith and teachings; and after several fraternal corrections and admonitions to Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka, the Chaplain of the Ministry; and after having given him pastoral directives and guidelines for the Ministry Chaplaincy, which he persistently violated.

"And in fulfilment of my pastoral duties as the Chief Shepherd with the obligation to promote and safeguard the Catholic faith and

morals in Enugu Diocese, I hereby prohibit all Catholics (clergy, religious and lay faithful) henceforth from attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry until the due canonical process initiated by the Diocese is concluded.

"My decision is based on the fact that some of the teachings and utterances of Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka at the Catholic Adoration Ministry are not consistent with the teachings and faith of the Catholic Church."

As political campaigns officially kick off Wednesday, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has asked Nigerians to learn from the ‘mistakes of the past’.


Mr Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, in a statement on Wednesday, also urged the people to be “wise and discerning” as they prepared to choose the country’s next president, in the 2023 general election.

“We must show that we have learned from mistakes of the past. We must be prepared to make difficult decisions. We must be wise, we must be discerning; we must choose progress. We must favour reason over sentiment,” Mr Tinubu said in a message to mark the official commencement of the 2023 presidential election campaign activities across the country.

Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today officially lifted the ban on campaign activities for the political parties ahead of the next year’s election.

INEC, last weekend, released and published the names and details of the political parties’ candidates qualified to participate in the poll.

Messrs Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) are considered the top contenders among 15 others in the race to take over from incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

Since the former Lagos governor joined the race to succeed Mr Buhari, his health status has been a major concern with many Nigerians, especially critics questioning his suitability for headship of a country that prides itself as a ‘giant of Africa’.

Videos of Mr Tinubu, 70, showing his clothes soaked, suggesting the APC presidential candidate’s possible struggle with incontinence, have been constantly pointed out by his critics to draw reservations on his frail health.

Despite this, Mr Tinubu said he was ready to lead the country to greater glory through innovative ideas, pleading with Nigerians to join him in his ambition of clinching the country’s top seat.

He said he and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, are set to share their vision of a prosperous Nigeria as they begin their campaigns of convincing the people to vote them to power.

“I invite all Nigerians to join me and HE Senator Kassim Shettima on this exciting and important journey as we set our shared vision of renewed hope for the people of our dear country, Nigeria.

“I am prepared and ready, with my running mate, to provide the leadership that will inspire our country to greater glory with new thinking, innovative ideas, and vision. I call on all Nigerians to please join us,” the APC presidential candidate added in the statement.

“We will, in weeks and months ahead, be taking our dream of a functional, safe, secure, and prosperous Nigeria to every part of Nigeria and as we continue to put forward our plan to lead this country towards its best future.”

Mr Tinubu further explained, “Our nation stands at a threshold of history. We, like almost every other nation in the world, face significant challenges. Some have been our own making, others, the consequences of factors well beyond the control of any Nigerian. One thing, however, remains certain, we cannot afford to get this one wrong.”

The adoption of a Muslim-Muslim ticket by Mr Tinubu has also been a major odd for the APC as the party prepares to start its campaign.

The APC presidential candidate flying Mr Shettima, a serving senator on the same faith ticket, has generated criticism even though the former claimed his action was based on merit as against religious consideration.
