PoliticsRe: British-born Michael Adeboloja Labelled A Nigerian: Why? by MiloRambaldi(m):
KingPradas: Let's get some facts clear here. These two men killed a British Soldier, not an innocent civilian. They clearly identify themselves as Muslims, but that doesn't mean they represent the religion of Islam and/or over 2 Billion Muslims worldwide.

The British Army/Navy has committed heinous crimes throughout the world, and still continue to do so in Muslim countries today. In these countries, innocent Muslim women and children are killed or maimed every day, LITERALLY. Imagine living with that type of terror. The Media wants you to believe that these Men hate YOU, the civilian, and your way of life. But thats false. They want to save their people from oppression. They want the killing of innocent Muslims to stop. "Eye for an eye, Tooth for a tooth".

The problem is people in the west don't understand how these Men are willing to give their life for complete strangers that have no connection to themselves other than the religion of Islam. So they assume that they're insane/crazy or what-have-you. The fact is Islam teaches Muslims that they are all ONE body. and if One body part is experiencing pain, then the whole body feels it, and of course must do something to remedy the pain

What is the difference between a Drone bomb and a beheading? Why is one less savage then the other? Why are western countries consistently invading poor Middle Eastern countries? Why did the news anchor cut out most of this Man's words and talk over him? Was this man not speaking English?

I don't excuse this Man's actions, because I don't know if that British Soldier was a good man or not. If he actually killed innocent Muslims or not. But perspective is important. This news anchor wants you to pick a side. You don't always have to pick an absolute side, but it is better to understand both sides. That's where the truth is.
So, according to you, it's ok for devout Muslims to avenge supposed injustice to Muslims by killing those who are perceived to be the cause. Thanks for the explanation- it shows it's about Islam after all. Seems Mujahid was acting out a legit Islam script then.

Fyi, the British and others are in Afghanistan because that place became a hotbed for terrorists to train and plan further killings. The 911 and other attacks on innocent civilians could be linked to the safe haven provided by Afghanistan to terrorists. Not sure Muslims can honestly blame the West for going to Afghanistan or Mali or the FG going after BH, when Muslims themselves are doing nothing about Islamic terrorism - it's reeks of hypocrisy.

Apparently they are Muslims who love and would rather continue in this savage barbaric path taken by Mujahid. And let them know, they can only lose this fight. It's sick, disgusting and stupid really.

tpia@:
i guess so.

once they go that route, its over.

they're never the same.
And it seems it's easy to be radicalized. My advise to Muslims - don't take this religion seriously. The moment a fight against terrorists or extremism by the Gov't be it in Afghanistan or Mali or against BH feels like or is being portrayed by an imam as a fight against Islam, it's time to flee from the religion. Just stop, no do again.

Otherwise, it's to shame humanity someday with this sort of barbarism- hacking an innocent with crude knives and being proud of it, preening for videos and pictures. So disgusting.
PoliticsRe: British-born Michael Adeboloja Labelled A Nigerian: Why? by MiloRambaldi(m): 10:20pm On May 23, 2013
So Michael was peaceful and decent until he turned Mujahid and then became an animal. The truth is that Islam or versions of Islam somehow breeds these violent types. Deny it as much as we want, there's got to be a link between this religion and the conversion of the likes of Michael, Mutallab, etc into violent, barbaric killers against the West.

What did the West ever do to Islam?

This may have fatally punctured the myth that Yoruba Muslims are different from those in the North in terms of susceptibility to turn to radical Islam. Seems the majority of Yoruba Muslims just don't take the religion seriously. Apparently the more serious ones eventually end up hacking people to pieces.

Sad really. I know quite a lot who profess to be Muslims. Can they somehow be this radicalized? This thing just got real.
Politics"We Swear By Almighty Allah We Will Never Stop Fighting You" - London Attacker by MiloRambaldi(op): 8:44pm On May 22, 2013
It’s not clear how or why two men attacked a man believed to be a British soldier in the London neighborhood of Woolwich, but U.K. officials are already investigating it as a possible act of terrorism.

A video broadcast by the U.K. network ITV purports to show one of the two attackers explaining himself to a camera immediately after the attack. His hands are covered in blood, a knife and a machete in his right hand. The victim is clearly visible on the ground with a crowd gathering in the background. Here’s what he said:

"We swear by Almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you. The only reasons we have done this is because Muslims are dying every day. This British soldier is an eye for an eye a tooth for tooth. We apologise that women had to see this today but in our lands our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government. They don’t care about you".

The Guardian cites eyewitnesses as describing the attack as a “beheading.” The BBC talked to an eyewitness who describes what he saw after arriving in the middle of the attack:

I saw two people lying over him and I thought they were trying to resuscitate him. I went down to the garage and another bloke come along and told me they were actually stabbing him. Apparently they actually ran the car into him and knocked him down before they did anything. And the next minute a silver car came along and a man got out and shouted he was going to phone the police. The next thing that happened was he actually pulled a handgun out. It was a gun that looked as if it could take about 12, 15 rounds so I definitely know it was handgun because I actually seen it in his hand.

The same witness also said that some unarmed police were nearby but did not want to approach the men, who appeared to be armed, until armed “Trojan” police arrived.

The two attackers were shot by police and are currently receiving medical treatment.

mu2sa2: American soldiers earn their respect. Have you ever seem one with koboko or molesting civilians in any way? The JTF failed because they were just killing innocent people like boko haram.
As long as Nigerian military continue with bullying civilians nobody will accord them any respect - insult peddlersd on NL excluded.
It's very untrue to claim that US soldiers have never abused and maltreated people. Just one case was the popular Abu Ghraib scandal - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Ghraib_torture_and_prisoner_abuse. While not condoning excesses of the bad eggs in the Nigerian Army or US Army, facts are facts - the US Army is no saint, far from it.

HNosegbe: You really had to quote me TWICE to make your ignorant comment, right?

It is people who make comments like yours that are most responsible for the problems we face. "Provided it is in the north east" can you imagine how stupidly selfish that statement is? What would you have said or done if you were an indigene of Borno?

You talk about "assisting JTF", in what way exactly? By coming out in public? What safeguards have the govt put in place to protect those who are courageous enough to say what they know?

By the way, have you forgotten what happened to the uncle of BH founder Mohammed Yusuf? For your information, he came out of hiding and met with former president Obasanjo. Do you know what happened to him? That's right, he was KILLED.

I maintain my stance: Until the federal government begins to truly utilize more of intelligence and less of brute force, the war against Boko Haram will NEVER be won.

Take it to the bank.
The Army of course will get intel - little from willing informants but a whole lot from captured terrorists. Fact is terrorists are cowards- they readily spill their guts when cornered. And the heart and mind thing is overrated - the US attempts at it in Iraq failed. The Army will, of course, not harm the populace that are not involved in the insurgency. Expect repercussions though, when terrorists are harboured and provided safe haven to launch attacks on the military.
PoliticsRe: Mobile-Phone Service Cut-off In Borno, Yobe by MiloRambaldi(m): 10:49pm On May 16, 2013
pmc01: It is really amazing but not surprising how delighted majority of the Christian Southerners are about the 'military invasion of the north' in the name of 'state of emergency'.
They say: 'kill them all', 'crush everything that is moving', 'spare no living thing, even animal and plants', 'I will readily join the military in the killing', 'destroy their land', 'send in drones to finish them all' e.t.c.
So the lives of the people of a certain region of a country aren't that relevant, even though they have contributed majority of the food that have kept us going till today, just because there are a few bad eggs amidst them? No thought for the innocent ones?

There are two things I have in mind, a wish & a fact:

>I hope Mr. GEJ will be 'concerned' enough to send in the military invade the South-East to deal with the incessant kidnapping cases there.

>These heartless 'Nigerians' will suffer the same punishment as the so-called 'BH' killers before God, since they all share a passion for killing.

CHIKENA!
Sadly, the North brought this upon itself. Generally, from the utterances of the Northern elites and passiveness of the majority it became clear to all that the region overall supports the BH militancy and their violent method to discredit the FG. While BH is predominately just radical Islam, it found support from the North in general for political reasons. Supporting BH may have looked smart when GEJ tried the mild 'policing' approach to the insurgency. Now that GEJ has declared SOE and thus war on BH, there can be only one winner - the FG. Seems the Northern elites picked the wrong side supporting the terrorists, hoping they'll discredit GEJ and his gov't to give the North a way back to power.

honeric01: I'm sorry but you're ignorant politically, you mean pdp is not gaining from the insecurities? Interesting!
It's the crap typically spouted to cover up the largely religious craving that is BH. BH is just a step up from previous religious cravings, and probably not unexpected after the clamour for Sharia in the North. Islamization of Nigeria was the next logical fight.

Why would the ruling party create insecurity based on radical Islam (that is more or less impossible to eradicate militarily) so that it'll struggle to fight it, knowing that it'll get bad name for inability to quell it? Even if it was started by PDP elements for political reasons, no doubt what was foremost in their minds was not political power for the party (since it's already in power), but power for the North.

Also political parties in Nigeria don't need insecurity to steal money -they just steal it.

Collateral damage, as they would say. And I said largely - majority, not all. You over-praise PDP and GEJ - crediting them with BH. I think they are not that smart, and as the ruling party they gain the least from BH insecurity.

No doubt, BH is largely religious, as they've said and shown severally - with majority of Northerners backing them for either religious or political reasons because the current FG is largely seen as non-Northern.

honeric01: Why jump into what you do not understand? Ask the person who brought this up the genesis of the matter.
Anyway it doesn't take much analysis to know that Northerners largely sympathize with BH. Usually when Northerners hate something which insults their religion, they break out in riots- it happened with the cartoons, and videos. From their reaction or lack of, they hate the current FG more than they hate (if they do at all) BH.

One question that should come to mind is, are all the Notherners the real problem or are there specific "Bosses" whom manipulate the minds of these people maybe out of ignorance to guide them to act the way they do? Is there anything that could be done to help? Because when you show a man the light He sure would give up walking in Darkness.
Here on NL, tough to find Northerners who support State Police or True federalism- most oppose or are silent. What they are surely vocal about is same thing their "elites" harp on each day - which is basically blame everything on GEJ/Current FG without realizing that it's really the nation's framework that's broken.

igala1: Permit me to explain what a northern rep told me. Say in dis same Nigeria, he used his Bayelsa state counterpeit as a study. The Bayelsan enjoys contracts from NDDC, Min Niger Delta, enjoys cuts from ammnesty, his state again enjoys 13% derivation, all four not enjoyed by him from the north under same Nigeria.now, PIB. To make it five. He feels d allocation from d fed govt is over drawn and that his bayelsan colleague is. Over paid for his resources. He equally want govt to develop resources in other parts of d country to prevent over reliance on crude from d south-south
It shows the reps parasitic nature. At least ND is contributing to the economy. In fact, their derivation should be 50%. What is the North's contribution outside Boko Haram? Because of this myopic thinking, they are killing the oil industry and Nigeria. Maybe it's not a bad thing. Perhaps this might hasten the movement to real federalism as the ND seem determined to retain the key clauses in the PIB. Why can't the Northern States developing their own resources- it's because we are not practicing the real federalism they readily oppose. Let them keep waiting for the FG.

It's a very good bill that'll help set the Police right. The tinted glass prohibition increases police corruption and leads to extortion of Nigerians. Police should focus on getting modern crime fighting tech and methods, not simplistic ineffective ideas designed to line their pockets with illicit money.

Banning tinted glasses in vehicles and charging people who can't remove the factory tints will not reduce crime. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a simpleton.
PoliticsRe: Bill Seeking To Unban Use Of Tinted-Glass Pass Second Reading In Senate. by MiloRambaldi(m): 8:06am On Apr 28, 2013
Great Bill. Please pass it very quickly. Let our lazy, thieving Police start doing real police work instead of the childish tinted glass obsession they seem to have. As if all the BH attacks are successful because they drive around in tinted glass vehicles! Police should add intelligence to their work joor - forensics and real investigations.

Lots of cars come with tinted glasses and the advantages are numerous:

Tinted windows aren't just for limousines and other luxury cars. Not only does tinted auto glass look sharp, but it is also a necessity for those who live in sunny climates.

A huge benefit of having your car windows professionally tinted is the reduction of heat. By reducing the sun's constant radiation, you will protect and prolong the life of your vehicle's interior. Tinted windows have the ability to filter out up to 80% of solar heat, while regular untinted glass only filters out 30%. Tinting your windows will prevent fabric from weakening and plastic trim from cracking and fading. Window tinting can also improve the performance of your air conditioner because it won't have to work as hard to cool down your car interior. And when you air conditioner doesn't have to work as hard, you save fuel and money.

Glare reduction is another great advantage of tinted auto glass. The glare coming from side windows can cause eyestrain that can result in a headache, especially on long trips. It can also be extremely distracting to drivers and impair your vision when you need it the most. The glare from the sun can also be a problem for passengers, especially small children and babies.

When you have your car windows tinted, UV exposure will be drastically reduced. The darkest tinted windows can filter out up to 95% of UV light, where regular glass can only filter out 30%. You can say goodbye to uneven sunburns with tinted windows.

Privacy is an important benefit to having your windows tinted, as well. Window tinting will make it difficult for people to see inside your car. That means potential criminals may think twice about breaking into a car to steal something that they can't see. Tinting your vehicle's windows can give you an added sense of security, especially if you are traveling with valuables.

You draw the wrong conclusions from our checkered history, bro. The Miatatsine riots lasted over 5 years killing over 8000. The civil war killed millions. The fact is that the fundamental issues of federalism is yet to be dealt with leading to these issues repeating. BH shows that it'll get more and more difficult if we keep glossing over the underlying issues. Obviously BH is more difficult becuase of the Northern elite support - just listen to the North's clamour for amnesty even after BH rejected it. I don't see what more force GEJ could employ against BH except sanction covert assassination of some Northern elites- possibly leading to another civil war. Only way BH can be quelled is when the North wants it to stop, which will be when/if they regain Presidency.

BH is at par to what led to the civil war, which we couldn't avoid and barely survived as a nation.

When people revolt what will they be asking for? Revolt against corruption? Ok. Nice idea. How do U deal with corruption when the Executive, Police, Judiciary and Legislative are competing for the Most Corrupt Prize? If you topple these, what institutions would u replace them with that won't be as powerful and corrupt?

Best is create competition among states through true federalism. Obviously what is needed is true federalism, but even today many people don't want it. The North are opposed to it as they oppose State Police.

I don't see revolution bringing any real change - just bloodletting on the streets perhaps. There need to be a clear articulation of what different federating units/regions want and negotiations between regions on the basis for continued coexistence. If compromise can't be achieved, then....
