This is daylight robbery. A fixed charge should be included only if they are giving the meters free or subsidized, which they are not. Granted they have to maintain the infrastructure and their support organisation even when users are not using their power, but they have enough volume from the 1 million or more users to waive any fixed charge. While this is still better than the arbitrary non-prepaid system, this case should be taken up with Consumer Protection Council (www.cpc.gov.ng). |
Good info. Thx Siena |
ccwizard: Dats chidi llyod using the mase on vokor a pro-gej assembly member. And the same chidi llyod is crying fowl. jmaine: Apparently the police supported the PRO- Amaechi group going by the video . .. . .Amaechi and his supporters from video evidence are the aggressors. Not good for him at all. Likely Chidi Lloyd will be charged with assault. |
The wrong side and aggressor in this saga is the side the man in white and red cap belongs to in the video. Is he pro-Amaechi or anti? |
sazycul: Na who hold stick for here?? This is aGood question. Please who is the man in white and red hat beating someone with the mace? Is that really Chidi Lloyd? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM9P9nxNMA8 |
To implement "avoidance of free mixing between the sexes", JNI should urgently consider the following: Separate markets for muslim women Separate shops for muslim women Separate transportation ( buses, taxis, trains, airplanes) for muslim women Separate roads for muslim women Separate office complexes for muslim women workers In fact, muslim women need a separate country, if not a separate continent to solve this problem. SMH. |
Next you'll hear is NYSC Camps being bombed by crackheads. FG should scrap NYSC or make it wholly voluntary. |
CROWÉ: Go and read the constitution again, the police do not answer to the governors, they answer to the president so how is a governor supposed to take responsibility for state security when the security agency in the state is outside of his control and only answers to somebody who can be seen as the governors boss?My point is that a lot of governors, especially those in the North don't want to take responsibility and willingly want to remain powerless - largely so they can blame the FG, which is just politics. To be fair to Amaechi, he wants State Police and he should be allowed to have it, but his Northern friends are opposed to it. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/akpabio-state-police-is-the-rational-way-to-go/123972/ https://www.nairaland.com/941179/fashola-renews-call-state-police http://nnnmorg./2013/06/20/rivers-rise-in-kidnapping-robbery-and-amaechis-call-for-state-police/ http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/northern-governors-reject-clamour-for-state-police/121018/ Those who reject State Police because of possible abuse by Govs, should see how the FG controlling the Police doesn't stop it being abused ( by the FG ). The Governors should join the clamour for State Police - about time some powers are reduced from the centre to the States or LGs. Same should be done for roads - the "federal road" rubbish should be abolished, any road passing thru a State should be the responsibility of that State. True federalism is way to go. |
CROWÉ: The Police in Nigeria is underfunded like everything else in the country, you see pictures of Fashola buying vehicles for Lagos state police, if it was well funded he wouldn't be doing that given the other things he needs money for, so maybe "our president is not" was not the right choice of words but he certainly isn't providing enough money.Governors are not powerless, they are just irresponsible, playing politics with the security of the people under them. When a governor refuses to take the responsibility for his State's security and expects someone in Abuja to secure them in Niger State, or Borno or Rivers, then u know it's the height of irresponsibility. If all the governors clamour for State Police, they'll get it. But most are against taking responsibility for their State's security. |
While Amaechi is just a confused noisemaker, State Police is way to go. But Amaechi's frends in the North would have none of it. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/northern-governors-reject-clamour-for-state-police/121018/ |
Acidosis: Which Oil? The one 1 million feet beneath your soil or the one the F.G dug and refined with billions?Which FG dug and refined oil? Here's how it works. In most Nigerian oil Joint Ventures, the multinational oil producer/operator gets 40%, while the FG gets 60% - Akwa Ibom gets 13%, so FG actually keeps 47%. FG dug nothing, except give license to the multinational. |
The confusion about the pricing has to do with the word "duplex". Duplex could be: - a single house spread over two floors connected by an internal staircase - also called Maisonette. - two-floor house having a complete apartment on each floor with separate entrances for two households. - side-by-side apartments that share a common wall with separate entrances for two households. So OP, which type of duplex are you building? Great thread. |

The senate should also scrap itself, legislative duties should be left to House of Assembly of each state. |
godjohnson: The committee further called for devolution of more powers to the 36 states by removing arbitration, aviation, environment, health care, land and agriculture, prisons, public complaints, railways, road safety, stamp duties, wages and youth matters from the exclusive legislative list putting it under the concurrent legislative list to allow states to establish and maintain prisons, railways, airports among others.Good move. Please add Resource Control and Policing (Security) to that list of what should be handled by States - it's long overdue. |
The attack on the woman is disgusting. It's just wrong to harm anyone because of the person's religion. That Muslim crackheads enjoy attacking non-Muslims doesn't make this attack on the poor woman any less disgusting. I hope the perpetrators get caught and face the law. |
This has got to be the best tablet so far. Any docking options? |
coogar: mr jonathan, the onus is on you to purge the police force and get rid of the undesirable elements in there. make the job attractive by employing graduates. improve the welfare of the policeman and they would be well-respected by the populace.Great point, agree completely. To fix the police, their welfare must be improved. I'd say push their monthly pay to N300k at the minimum - slash the salaries and allowances of lawmakers, if you must, to make this happen. This will make it unnecessary for policemen to seek N20 and N50 as bribe on the roads (though that has largely stopped). Might be best to have the State govts fund the police, though. State govts need to be responsible for their basic security with the FG coming in only when necessary. |
I'm getting the sense from personal experience that the SA built Toyotas are of lower quality - 2009 Corolla with about 70k mileage already has the roof trim comming off and I noticed most Corollas of the same year bought locally seem to have same problem. Are the SA made Toyotas of the same quality standard as those made in Japan or US? This is not really about the specs and equipment - clearly the US version have better specs and equipment. It's the build quality I'm referring to. Read somewhere that Toyota Australia stopped selling South African Corollas due to build quality issues and regular problems. Should Toyota Nigeria consider bringing in Japanese or US made Toyotas instead of the current practice of selling the SA made ones here? |
So, if a group of muslims hijack planes and crash them into two tall/prominent buildings in the US, do you expect the world's press to cover r.apes in India? Or if two brain-dead muslim Londoners decide to behead a soldier in broad daylight and then stand around praising Allah in front of cameras till the Police arrive, should the world's press be covering students' riot in UniUyo instead? |
Because muslim terrorists crave media attention, so they go for far more kills and the bizarre. A good example is the London attack. Add BH's love for attention with the video messages. The Indian rape crime might be crime of lust, but with muslim terrorists it's a well calculated religious duty and done to get attention. You can't expect the fewer crime stories to overshadow the mass murdering terrorists. Stop with the self pity and deal with the real issue of the crazed, dumb ideology that drive the muslim terrorists fools - they pose far more serious threat to everyone. |
Soon, Buhari that is now pleading for amnesty and reprieve for BH will be called a christian. The smartest Muslims right now are those among the youths in Maiduigri rounding up known BH members and handing them over to the military. The dumbest remain those who blame the violent acts of their bloodthirsty muslim brothers like Muttalab, the 2 London fools, BH on non-muslims. |
If there's a revolution in Nigeria, will Tinubu survive it? If a mob catches Tinubu, will they spare him? |
Finally, the Northern youths are doing the right thing, while old men and so-called Elders talk crap and play politics with their lives. |
I've banished gens from my life for good. Last one I had was a Kippor inverter generator some 3 years ago - silent thing, but expensive to maintain. But now, where I live must be serviced with 24hr power. Life is too short to keep dealing with gen wahala. |
Dee60: The comments here show how shallow our people have become. How can anyone award pass marks to a regime that has allowed so much corruption in Nigeria? Today, corruption has become so endemic. It has reached its worst level ever. That alone throws all the government's scorecard into the Red! GEJ has 2 years to roll up his sleeves and work, otherwise, he risks being remembered with very low scores. Time flies, remember!Actually, the comments show the right balance which the editorial sorely lacked. While the govt. hasn't fixed all our problems during it's last 3yrs, clearly people can see areas it's scored better than past administrations. One of the most glaring evidence of corruption in Nigeria used to be the sight of policemen harassing motorists everywhere collecting bribes. That has largely disappeared, thanks to this govt. We are still far from where we need to be, but nothing wrong with giving credit where due, and then point out the areas the govt. need to improve. The blanket criticism is dumb and only loses the opposition any respect. The opposition right now is just clueless. And we need strong opposition, damnit. |
kingoflag: No, its not meant to impress anyone. Its just the only way I know how to respond to tribal idi*ots and bigots.I see you'd rather do name-calling and insults then talk intelligently. I'll leave you to it. It's what your demigod Buhari does so no surprises. Fact remains that an elder Statesman like Buhari and with his Presidential aspirations would have done himself much good by more articulation of his position instead of his usual rants expousing violence or opposing ALL govt decisions just for the sake of it. Now he stands alone in opposing the much required military action against BH. Such articulation would help him and his image more than GEJ, being as he still nurses Presidential ambition. But then you can't give what you don't have. If you honestly don't see that Buhari's popularity is plummetting daily because of his senseless rants (portraying him as empty), among those were ambivalent about him and now even among some who admired him, then good for you. GEJ is not the brightest, not by a long shot but Buhari is showing himself to be even less bright than GEJ. If I was in Buhari's shoes, I'd criticize GEJ when he goofs and praise him when he does well. Some examples: I'd criticize GEJ for not fighting corruption hard enough - I'll ask the Govt to increase Police salaries/better their welfare, strengthen the ban on Police road blocks and try to influence the Judiciary ( being as they are independent) to clean up its house and quicken court cases, etc. I'd commend GEJ for the SoE and commend the soldiers taking part in that effort, but admonish them to act professionally especially toward civillians. At the end, I'll come accross as balanced and what I say will be taken seriously by the populace. If govt opts to implement any of my recommndations, credit to me - I'll make sure everyone knows the origin and would be glad Nigerians get the benefit. My intention is not really to advise GEJ, but to play politics smartly with the aim of endearing people to my side - CPC did this smartly by supporting the SoE. |
Mylove55: a re u not worst than boko haram, saying christian wil not vote 4 buhari,i am a pastor frm benin,i wil not vote if buhari wil not contest.d leader of boko haram (shekau)is even better than Gej.because they are preaching against corruption in d system, don't vote tribally or religiously, vote d bestSo the leader of BH Shekau is better than GEJ because BH has tagged in anti-corruption in their murderous agenda. And you say you are a pastor. You prefer BH who bomb and fire guns into churches killing innocent men, women and children, abi? Because they preach anti-corruption. You prefer BH who go about attacking and killing policemen and women attempting to maintain law and order, abi? Because they preach anti-corruption. You just prefer any mass murderer as long as they put anti-corruption in their message. While corruption is bad, idiotic statements like yours supporting the BH mass murderers gives them drive to continue killing innocents. Those who attend your church are most to be pitied. |
kingoflag: Articulate what? You guys are just so hypocritical it's nauseating. The extent of your hypocrisy is even more outstanding, and astonishing, when one realizes that u guys even know that ure deceiving urselves. What's with the emotionalism? Is that supposed to impress anyone? Keep jumping around and calling people names. Who is rejecting who based on tribe? Buhari has over time by his own words showed he's the Chief tribalist and you are here ranting about people rejecting him because of his bigotry and tribalism. Even his fellow partymen are embarrassed by him. Who said Buhari should advise GEJ? Can he? Buhari would have soared if his criticism and constant opposition to ALL moves made by the current FG, had been backed by a clear articulation of his own alternate view. But the old man just rants rubbish, blood everywhere he goes. Take the terrorism issue, after the extra long stance of the current FG on a measured approach to BH including offering amnesty (which was rejected), only a military action was left. And yet that is what the Buhari haps against everyday. What should the gov't have done? Keep begging BH terrorists because they are Buhari's kinsmen? |
kingoflag: Oh, wow, so you know how he combated terrorism as Head Of State, but mysteriously you have no clue what he did in the power, oil and gas sector during that same period? No hypocrisy. Fact is the man has not articulated how he'd tackle the current problems under a democracy - his utterenaces tilt towards bigotry more than practical solutions. What he did about 30years ago as a coupist and military Head of State using decrees doesn't count as a pointer to what he CAN or will do under a democracy. Buhari is the hypocrite for attacking the current FG for taking same action he did under what may regarded as identical situation, though BHaramists are deadlier due to new arms/tech than the Maitatsine dullards. |
shangpearlz: I agree wiv u totally. He wuda been a gud leader.he got plans dat cud improve dis country bur he done ruining his chances...What plans? Buhari is just an empty bigot with no ideas. Only thing he does is criticize the current FG with no alternate ideas. What are Buhari's plans for the Power sector, Oil and Gas sector - nothing. What are the details on how he'll fight corruption he's been mouthing all over the place? None! Like Romney did against Obama in the US, all criticism without saying what he'd do differently. Now he's even critizing the FG for doing the exact same thing he did when he was Head of State - taking millitary action against Islamist militants. |
