If the next government comes in, preferably, PDP, let them also do a one-sided fight against corruption, then at the end of the day the equation will balance. No body can fight against corruption in a manner that will be perceived by all to be balanced one. May God bless Nigeria. |

plaetton: OK. Do us a favor by letting us know the arithmetic, how you arrived at that figure of N119.
More importantly, did you use N199 or N320 as the exchange rate to arrive at that figure I have been wondering how the N145 Pms pump price was arrived at, because early this week it wasn't up to N100 because the subsidy was N12.60 or so. I read somewhere today that N145 was arrived at because the government used N300/$ in computing the landing cost per liter. Why use N300/$ and not N199/$ which is the official price? |
Politics › Re: The Notable Difference Between Jonathan And Buhari's Subsidy Removal by MIM77(m): 2:18pm On May 13, 2016 |
youngeagle: The worst part is that GEJ raised minimum wage and NYSC allowance as a panacea to the suffering the subsidy might cause, but our dullardiho doesn't give a damn even with the worsening economic condition caused by the dollar hike and still most Nigerians that protested in 2012 finds it hard to even condemn this act...my Hero will live longer than his adversaries wished him. Politics aside. Not a supporter of any party because they are all the same. The current government is in a very tight corner in terms of inflow of resources. It doesn't have the resources to increase salary or allowances. The last revenue shared from the federation account was N299Billion and the share of the federal government out of it is N157.5 Billion while the salary bill of federal government staff for April was N165 Billion. Now where is the capacity to increase salary/allowances? On the issue of subsidy payments, the government spends close to a Trillion naira every year which is about a quarter of the budget, yet pms is not sold at the government pump price across the country. Few people have been claiming subsidy in billions of naira and marketers divert this product and sell it at a high price. The bane of our situation as a country is over dependence on oil. Heard of an example of the sharp practices of marketers in Yola, that 70 tankers were billed to be delivered there but only 7 tankers arrived while the balance diverted. I am in support of the move by the government to remove the subsidy not because i know where the money to meet up the additional expenses will come from but because only few people are getting richer and richer from the policy while the government is subsidizing the product. May God bless Nigeria. |

Still waiting for Buhari and APC to prove me wrong that they've got nothing to offer aside lies, propaganda and incompetency. Mr Man, government is a continuum. Nothing is wrong in adopting/fine tuning the policies or projects of the last government if they would add value to the lives of Nigerians. Amitex: Do you mind these masturbators? It took him 6 months to appoint ministers, while at that he started playing "try your Luck" with the economy. Today is May 6, 2016, he has not yet assented to budget he submitted to NASS in 2015.
Tell me how the last administration contributed to the current fuel shortage! Tell me how the last administration contributed to Zero power generation from about 5000MW handed over to Buhari! Tell me how the last administration contributed to inconclusive elections, inconclusive budget, inconclusive Boko haram defeat, inconclusive electricity, inconclusive asset declaration, inconclusive government!!! Was it the past administration that has created the disaffection between the executive and NASS? Was it Jonathan that re-introduced dual exchange rate? Creating fraud in an otherwise sanitized system!! Was it Jonathan that has made it impossible for a government to pay salaries? Is it Jonathan that has been making provocative statements against a Niger-Delta militants that were at peace with government for 6 years? Is it Jonathan that has made Boko Haram to be in control of over 4 LGAs? Was it Jonathan that "helped" remove Nigeria from list of fast growing economy to nothingness? Or the Fulani Herdsmen are working for Jonathan!!! Thought THERE IS NOTHING LIKE SUBSIDY, today they are paying what does not exist
Confused government with more followers. They thought government was rhetoric!!!
JESTERS!!! The 2016 budget has just been assented. |
Politics › Re: Nigeria Would Have Collapsed If Jonathan Had Defeated Buhari In 2015 – Sagay by MIM77(m): 1:37pm On May 06, 2016 |
Sweetguy25: Corruption is not Nigeria's problem. Besides, this Sagay of a man is a shameless and ignorant liar. Buhari is the architect of his misfortunes. That the economy is in shambles today is purely Buhari's fault. It took the dullard six months to appoint ministers. SiX good months. The economy would have been better if the dullard had hit the ground running. That is 1. If he had appointed ministers three weeks after he was sworn in. 2.[s] If he had discarded Jonathans budget and came up with his own budget[/s] 3. If he wasn't travelling like a lose bird.
The dullard had some goodwill when he was elected - the stock market rallied, there was electricty, the was fuel and his supporters were happpy. People (not me) were expecting change but the dullard blew it away and dashed their hopes. That Buhari's regime has failed and will fail is his fault.
I hate when Nigerians call another country a "failed country". You have no right to call another country failed because is Nigeria is also one - a failed country. How can he discard a budget that has already been passed to law and implementation on course? Mr Man, sentiments aside, so many things were not working right-may be you have forgotten. At that time, all indicators showed that there would be hardship in the future (i. e. now) should the oil price continue to decline which eventually happened. The last time the oil price was above the oil price benchmark of $53 was in July, 2015 i.e. $57. In August, 2015 it was $47.09, September ($48.08), October ($48.86), November ($44.82), December ($37. . In 2016, the highest it went in the 1st quarter (i. e. end of the budget year) was in the region of $39 and at point it went as low as $27 or so. The Federal Government lost nearly 500 billion naira between August 2015 and March, 2016 (8 months out of 12months) because crude oil was sold at about an average of $10/barrel below the oil price benchmark of $53. The amount lost because of the decline in oil price is part of the projected revenue in the 2015 budget. So many projects that were captured in the 2015 budget couldn't be executed because of this singular reason. It doesn't matter who is on throne because the global oil price is not within the control of the person. May God bless Nigeria. |

Abagworo: In that case if Buhari was a woman he could be Fayose's mother but not father. Men marry in their 20s and these days even women marry in their 20s except in the North where teenage marriages still prevail. At 18 years in those days, he was old enough to father Fayose. The anomaly in Fayose's statement is calling PMB his grandfather. |

Even wen it was down to about 40 naira or so then, we were supposed to be buying at a lower price around 60 naira or 54naira instead it was plunge to 86 naira. So, if crude eventually goes up and refined product got hiked, there is no difference 40 dollars not naira. |

banki: First of all Why did your super administration allow states go broke without giving them bail out for 7months before pmb started Why did your supeer admistration go borrowing to pay salaries even when oil prices were high Why did they not implement the tsa since it was thier idea Oil has been between 26 dollars and 32 dollars in the last 9months it only went up to 40 because saudi, quatar, etc decided to cut back on production
I can't argue The oil price benchmark of 2015 was $52/barrel and oil price dropped from$57.01 in July to $47.09 in August 2015 and never rose close to the benchmark of $52 till date. This means a reduction of revenue from crude by at least $10/barrel in 8 months out of the 10 months of this administration. Things are hard but they have tried given the lean revenue ( which is below the benchmark) from the major source. |

You are also not aware that the budget was reduced by 17 billion naira? So you believe that the document presented to NASS is exactly what is returned to him? Doesn't it make sense that he has to be sure that the highlight of the budget agrees with the details. Each total in the highlight must have the breakdown of how the figure was arrived at and you want him to just sign with out confirmation. Assuming he signs and eventually disagreements between the totals in the highlight and the various breakdowns emerge, what would you call him? |

Pdp and Apc are thesame. A person moving to Apc from Pdp or vice-versa does not change the real character of the person. Rayhutar: It was GEJ that initiated the cleaning project signed by the major oil companies. Shell is going to provide the bulk of the money for the clean up. It is not Buhari led APC government that started the initiative, The commencement of the clean up is from the agreement signed by oil companies under GEJ and led by UN habitat and other environmental agencies, the initiative is dated back to GEJ administration, is a gradual process that will take upto 30 years according UN research. APC should be telling Nigerians the truth instead of scoring cheap political point by brain washing Nigerians. It doesn't matter when the clean up started, the most important thing is that the cleaning process will continue and life will be better for the people affected.
