FamilyRe: My Son's Behavior Is Getting Out Of Hand by Mimicole(f): 1:33pm On Mar 26, 2022
klassyguy:
I have two lovely kids with my wife - a girl and a boy. My son is six years old while his sister is eight. Both were born here in the US. I’ve done what I feel is right as a father to train these kids, but I know not everything can be done accordingly.

My son is restless. He has the attention span of three seconds before he gets distracted by something else. My mum tells says he is a copy of me when I was his age, but that was in the eighties and the way children were handled back then is totally different from today. He hardly wants to do anything in terms of school work and almost every day I get complaints from his teacher that he does not do his work or he is disruptive in class. When other students are doing their work, my son will be the one falling off his chair or hiding under his desk. His teacher told me he acts out when being corrected. Only yesterday my wife told me the teacher met her when she went to pick them up in school and told her that my son started yelling when the lights in the class started flickering. His behavior got so bad, they had to call the school security officer before he calmed down.

This behavior is really bothering me. I know my son is smart. His pre-school teacher once told me he was the smartest student she had. My son can do complex mathematical equations off the top of his head that even his older sister struggles to do. He has a very good memory and can list off all the types of trains that exist in the US, things that even I don’t know. It’s sitting down to be serious about work that he can’t do and can’t seem to focus on.

I enrolled him in a soccer club to see if that would help him expel his excess energy. At first he seemed to be lazy as he gets frustrated easily, and rather try harder, my son would rather give up and cry. I mostly have to encourage him to put in more effort, and most of the time he does not pay attention to what the coach says. The coach told me a couple of days ago that he wants to move him to a lower group level to see if he can build his confidence there.

I want to believe it’s his being the last born for now that’s worrying him. He seemed to start being a bit more mature when my wife got pregnant last year and he learnt they had a younger sibling on the way, but unfortunately, she miscarried and we lost the baby. I’ve been thinking for a while now whether to move back to Nigeria with everyone so that we can build some sense into both of them (my daughter’s story is another one). I’ve thought of taking them both for an ADHD test, but my wife is against that. The only time my son pays attention is when he’s doing something he likes, and that is when he’s playing the PS5 I got them or watching videos on YouTube Kids.

Any advice would be welcome from parents out there.
OP your son has ADHD -Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. The symptoms you've stated here are so apt! He needs therapy. You need to see a pediatrician ASAP! It's controllable with lots of therapy. Good luck

Really alot of Nigerian girls lack tolerance to be honest. Marriage has never been a bed of roses and will never be. Congratulations cha cha you have successfully registered to nollywood single mothers association. You're now free to do anything you want. Soon you'll start snapping nude independent day pictures like mercy toyin lawani and buying range rovers and houses all over lekki like Toke makinwa.
Of course its the woman's fault, blame it on her.
Why must she be a woman in the first place, right?

What do you consider it a fake account instead of an alternate one?

And why comment anonymously to people you know?

That's rather creepy and could be considered borderline stalking.

Not to mention why would people intentionally add strangers on their personal fb pages? huh

And is it a must you have to flirt online? huh Why is self control considered a female thing among Nigerians? (even that has changed now). Must you drop sexually themed comments on someone's page when you know you have sex issues?

Haba mana what is it with Nigerians and this self righteous judgmental behaviour?
The flirting happened 10 years ago and Oga said he has given up d habit... Why are you still asking these questions? And where in the story did you get 'sex issues'??

OP just travel down to see your wife and apologize again, let her feel your sincerity... After all wise people say its only when you cultivate the ability to apologise for no reason that you are fit and ready for marriage... 'I'm truly sorry' will do the trick and save you lots of unhappiness in the future.

In my line of work I come across lots of divorce cases that could have been prevented at the early stage by just apologies. Its really not such a big deal in the end.

This is a smart girl.
She's a successful actress,
She's married and she has kids.
She is also lucky her marriage to Austin can't be threatened again with the coming of her son this year.

I really wonder how she manages to tend to those kids, memorize her movie scripts and still spread her legs for spousal duties.
Anyways, she should just give us one more son so she can stand with two legs in that home.

I honestly wish I could say the same about Ini Edo.

EducationRe: Travails Of Obtaining Transcripts In Nigerian Law School by Mimicole(f): 6:06am On Jun 17, 2019
For an institution of that magnitude its so frustrating that getting a transcript is such a hurdle. One would expect that they would appreciate such requests more than regular tertiary institutions but sadly that is not the case.

My own experience has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, as I have been battling to get my transcript to Canada since March. I have paid the fees they require but I still keep stories every single time I check in to know the status of my application.
The most annoying of it all is that for the past two months, they claim to have finished compiling the transcript but it's awaiting the Director-General's signature. How hard can it be for the man to seat his ass down and sign papers?

Funny enough I'm not alone in my travails. I meet a lot of disgruntled persons coming to check their application statuses but getting the same story of "the DG has not signed" for months now. It is so sad that education is still at this pitiable level in this country.

The worst part of it all is; the numbers on their website is fake as it never goes through, the emails also are never responded to, so there is no where to even lay your complaints. The staff won't even give you their phone numbers at least to save you the stress of going there. And even more frustrating is the fact that all applications must be directed to Abuja, even when they know they can't handle it. So wherever you reside in the country irrespective of which campus you graduated from, Abuja it must be! *shakes head*

God help us.

Hi Jide,
Great work you are doing here.
Please I've been having network issues on my mtn line for days now, network just disappears for hours, can't make calls or receive, can't send SMS, can't even do my usual bank transactions on the phone. Nut funny enough when I put on my wifi the data service is seamless. I went to MTN Office and a lady checked my sim and told me it was ok after putting it in another phone and was able to make calls with it.
However, I went back home and put the sim into a new phone thinking that the old phone might be the issue, but the same network issue persists on the new phone as well.
Please what could be problem?

Mrs Mother.. the fact that your children are a colony of spoilt maggots doesn't mean you should go about justifying disrespect and playing the "You're not a parent" card.

The Mary in question is obviously much older than Chisom. And an intelligent human will be able to deduce from the conversation that the girl(Mary) is being oppressed and maltreated. You can tell from the way the OP introduced her and how his little brat spoke rudely to her.

I'm not a fan of oppression ( I'm sorry if you are). So fùck off cuz I don't roll with people with dimwitted mindsets
Now with the way you easily spew hate, bitterness, anger and insults at people you don't even know, I can see what a splendid job your sanctimonious parents have done in raising you... wow! kudos to you!

Here you are about to crucify a 3 year old kid for being 'rude' when you are an epitome of rudeness and disrespect yourself!

I pity the kids that will suffer the misfortune of passing through you...

It also shows that you are not married and do not have a child. Infact I'm sure you're in your teen years. That's the only way you will spew all you did earlier.

Talk less and study (your environment) more, so that when you talk (type) a little bit of wisdom can be reflected.

Your daughters statement conveys the atitude that she is a boss to the person she is relating to

Your statement above only show how defensive you are knowing that most children follow the character and attitudes of whoever they were brought up by,
Its better to retreat into your shell and give yourself some cane before coming to spew trash on a public forum
I seriously can't wrap my head around how judgmental human beings can get... I just can't.

I guess this is what you get when you seek the opinion of strangers that feel they have a right to make assumptions in your life.

In one breath you have concluded that the OP is a bad example, a bad parent and that his child is not well-trained... while missing the harmless humor in the post.

May God help you.

Lol...there is absolutely nothing wrong in having windows on all the walls in your living room really, the idea could be to satisfy aesthetics, ventilation and day lighting requirements. However Op, if you are not comfortable with that sort of design, you may bring it to the notice of the architect/designer who drew it up, to see if he/she could make some adjustments that would still satisfy the relevant functional requirements. Afterwards you relate the redesign with your engineer so he could make the necessary adjustments, if any.

Simply block one windows which you consider the most unnecessary with respect to Cross-ventilation. Let a Bricklayer buy some blocks and cement and cover it.

This is not a structural engineering problem so long as you are not knocking off a column (pillar). We structural engineers especially registered ones see concrete and steel members as the skeleton and muscle of buildings. All other finishes are cosmetics and wears that you can change and adjust
Thanks that's exactly what I did.

What did your engineer say?
Now there are four walls in the living room, and there are openings in all of them, the walls facing the street have 2 windows and he says he can't close them because it will reduce the aesthetics of the building from the view of a passerby (which I agree, so that one is out)
The second wall facing the porch has one window, he says he can't close it because that's the only way you can see whats happening inside the compound or who is standing at your entrance without necessarily opening the door (I also agree, so that one is out)
The 3rd wall has both the entrance into the dining area and the entrance into the hallway so it's also out.
The 4th wall however has a window that overlooks the next compound, I suggested that he closes this one because the dining area also has a window on the same side, but he says if he closes it I'll later regret it. For me that is not a good reason, because unlike the other walls he is not giving me a cogent reason to leave it open.
I just feel every where in the living room can't have an opening, where will I arrange my TV set and other electronics. I'm very concerned about this.
Thanks.

This is not a structural design problem. Its an architectural problem. Lucky for you at this stage it MAY still be able to be corrected depending on the drawing plan. Is the house a duplex or a bungalow? Am guessing its a bungalow...
Candid advice: Get a registered architect and a certified engineer to help you redesign the structure. Quacks make us engineers look silly.
It's a bungalow. So far all the advice my engineer has given me concerning the project have been on point, this is the only issue i'm having since the work started, I don't think I should fire him because of that.
I just need other professional views on this issue in order to compare.
But even without any knowledge of designing buildings I just know it will be wrong to place a TV set in between two windows.

Hi all,
I'm about to become a home owner, my house is still in its early block laying stages and this is the time I think is best to correct all design errors.
My engineer actually created a large and spacious living room for me, which I absolutely love, but my dilemma lies in the fact that all the walls in the living room have windows...
I can't imagine how i'll arrange my TV set and electronics in between windows.
My engineer assures me it's ok but I think it's a disaster, Am I wrong?
Please I need professionals to help me out here.
Thanks in advance.
