What would recommend for someone with fear of heights? undecided
Exposure therapy under cognitive behavioural therapy is the preferred therapy option by therapists when dealing with phobias.

Realistically, we can not always have access to a therapist, so with the irrational fear of heights (acrophobia) the person can try to do the heights with someone who is comfortable with heights and who would be patient with them and chat through the experience as a way of distraction.

Just like toddlers with rickets, most of them fear walking as the bones are weak because the brain is telling the child the legs cannot support him/her. So during occupational therapy for such a child, the parents are encouraged that when they get home, they and other kid(s) at home (if any) should regularly match and dance to their toddler's favourite nursery rhymes while the child observes and it tends to trigger signals to the child's brain that having their feet on the ground is not a bad idea. cheesy cheesy

I laugh because I remember it was an undergrad exam question.

OP, I will encourage you to go read up on Exposure therapy/Desensitization therapy in relation to Alektorophobia, it will be of great help.

That reminds of an incident some years back in Onitsha, a guy in his early 20s wearing his Sunday best went to visit his elder sister. Boys in the hood stripped him off his sneakers, jeans, shirt, watch, chain, wallet and phone. He got to his sister's place in his boxer and singlet cheesy cheesy

The sister knowing the hood very well, had the items recovered. cheesy cheesy

I wanted to be a therapist when I was still in school. Psychology has always been of interest to me but I don't have enough patience to do the job. It's good to know one's weaknesses. wink

Thank you though. I know you are a professional in this field. Always looking forward to your contributions. smiley
Patience! cheesy cheesy Truth is sometimes you will feel like giving your client a knock on the head but you have been drilled on UPR (Unconditional Positive Regard) during training and must keep calm as you are expected to have big ears to hear what is not being said, big eyes to pick up non verbal communication and a small mouth because the therapy is not about YOU! cheesy

It is in you, you can always have a new dream whenever you feel ready and process through the impatient self, na so we all take start. cheesy

First of all, let me commend you for pointing out and acknowledging your wife's contributions. It is refreshing to see someone approach a conflict from a good place, a place of fairness.

But allow me to correct your statement that your marriage has cracks. All I see is a disagreement and it is a normal part of marriage or any relationship between humans for that matter. Embrace conflict and use it to your advantage. If handled wisely, it will bring the two of you closer.

Now let me ask you if you can also acknowledge that your wife did not deliberately want to disappoint you?

And then ask yourself this: What could have I done differently/better?

You have high standards (which I like) and yet you rely on others to meet them entirely. Could you have been more actively involved in the organization?

You should be enjoying your honeymoon stage now. What is done is done. Now focus your energy on shaping your daily life together so that you can celebrate many anniversaries. cheesy Some couples refresh their wedding vows after some years and throw parties. You can do that too and take charge of the organization so that it will be as perfect as you desire it to be. wink

One more thing: Whenever you have an argument with your wife, ask yourself this: What am I doing wrong for it to happen? Tell her to do the same. Agree on a no-blame-approach in times of peace. It will go a long way. You are one unit now. Don't let one day ruin a life.
With this, you will make a good therapist! cheesy
Family › Re: R by Mindlog: 6:09am On Dec 23, 2020
You don't need to repress it, you both need to sit down and talk it out or else it will be in your mental log and you would always consciously or unconsciously draw from it and that is not healthy for your marriage.

You both are just at the starting line and a long race ahead, don't encumber it by piling up anger.

Exhale and enjoy your honeymoon as you both are imperfect halves! cool

Lol.

I'm so angry right now. WTF!

They should arrest all the seniors in that school, the teachers, and also the principal.

How dare those seniors put their rubbish fingers and toes in a little boy's Anus to the extent the boy needs to stitch his Anus?

Ah!

I would have burnt down that school before the news even gets to the media.

All Boarding schools in Uyo should be closed! They only breed lesbians and gays, especially that Lutheran high school and Adiaobong girls school.
Same gender boarding schools are enablers of homosexuality.

Good one. Let Fayose and Makinde tear themselves to pieces.

But Makinde has very serious problems. He is fighting his Deputy, fighting his party leaders, he has extended his madness to Ekiti. No wonder he refused to pick his mother's call until she died, only to be shedding crocodile tears in public.
Not picking his mother's call......hmm.

To cut the long short, since you are not even sure you want to marry the lady then redirect your energy on women around you there in the US who have finished Grad school and get yourself a bride.

At least it eliminates you sharing the tiring story of how ungrateful your Nigerian raised wife is after you relocated to her the US.

You are not her Messiah and stop feeling her future is in your hands.

Be open with her, so she can move on and focus her attention on other men.
