I know na.... I ain't saying they should cast them for so so role. I said any role in the DCU.
I'm sure there would be a prominent or key character in DC any of the cast of HOTD can fit into.

That King Viserys actor, Paddy Cosidine na prime Raas 'al ghul to me.
The Simpson that simping for Queen Alicent would make a good actor in the Batman family.
Nah. I will love him as Kyle Rayner or Jimmy Olsen. But I see your point. But Gunn is going for a young Batman, so that age would be kind of...

King Viserys, he better be Jonathan Kent. He could fit nicely as a farmer from Kansas. Don't know if he could do a Southern American accent. Or is Kansas not in South of US?

RF, Guy Gardner, Constantine, Deathstroke, Deadshot
Deathstroke? Please no. Deadshot? I think we're cool with a black dude for now or Keanu Reeves.

Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't give me hope.
This is everything I have ever asked for from a Superman film. Clark Kent is not Superman. Superman is not Clark Kent. We need to believe both are different. Watching the Superman film of old, I honestly believed the glasses thing could work.
I mean, Ving Rhames and Sam Dede look alike but we all know they aren't the same people, cos they behave differently.

Disney that iced pirates of the carribean and dropped Terrence Howard as Rhodes? Them no go even think am twice.

It is possible the flash poor performance is pushback. Ezra issues and carrying his they them too far.
Only God knows how much I hate that they/them nonsense. They born you as a man or woman, you don't want to be seen as that but in plural form. The guy is weird sef, I wonder how anyone would front him for a superhero role. Superheroes are meant to be role models. I don't see how that guy is.

Lol, some headlines can be confusing at times.

But what Gunn is actually saying is that Superhero films of now you hardly are really connected with the characters portrayed by the actors or how they was written. There's no connection or relating with them.

It's significant in the sense that as stupid and dumb as a character like King Shark was in TSS, he was loved by all. Imagine say King Shark no return for the next TSS movie, people fit protest.
See Birds of Prey, if them recast or change the actor wey play Cassandra Cain, you go complain. See as them murder Cassie. The film ain't bad per se to me but I didn't like the character portrayals and I didn't enjoy the portrayal of Jurnee Smollet even tho she's a phenomenal actress.

How many people wan miss Amy Adams as Lois Lane. She's one of the issue with Superman film sef. Her portrayal is just too plastic for my liking.
There's a reason people love Margot Robbie and can't think of any other person as Harley. Same goes for Viola Davis.
You can't blame Amy Adams. Her Lois Lane was written very poorly. Even Clark Kent didn't have a personality. That's why I say the secret identity thing is as important to writing Lois Lane and Superman characters. Taking it away without explaining it or even referencing it took a lot of dynamics from the story.
If you check, Lois had little to do in BvS with Clark Kent, and even her character was bland in MOS. She found out Clark's identity too early and quick which they didn't use to develop her character to show how Superman influenced her.

Honestly if DC fail to capture any young star from HBO's House of The Dragon I fit swear for WB and DC Studios. 😭😭

Those two ladies, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey are going places. The entire cast is just too sweet not to capitalise on.
I liked what WB did with Pedro Pascal, same can be replicated with him starring in GOT, The Last of Us and WW84.
It depends on the role na. Jamie Lannister appeared in Flash lol. But I can see King Viserys first of his name playing Falcone or Jonathan Kent.

At least, henceforth we can hope WB has learnt their lesson. Who knows whether now they can seriously think of wiping out Amber Heard, but it's hard since she's key to the story.
I never liked Ezra from the onset, and he was one of the few casting choices from Snyder I didn't like. I didn't feel him as Barry then.
Weird enough, some critics actually said Miller has a good performance in the Flash movie.

This is why I say thorough vetting needs to occur henceforth for future casting, not to fail to screen out future powder kegs. From director, writer to actor. Top to bottom.

Disney/MCU seems set to be thrown into such issues with Jonathan Majors problem.
I think Majors is innocent. Miller's own didn't need vetting sef. I think he was cast after he read with and had chemistry with Ben Affleck. He had auditioned for Nightwing or Robin in BvS.

Even new film and useless rom-com that nobody watches anymore like No Hard Feelings is beating out the Flash. You gotta be fearful.

Imagine Elemental picking up steam and beating out Flash.
Lol, it's frightening actually. The film wasn't bad, if only they dropped the Miller guy. I was really doubtful of the guy way before now (not his acting abilities. He is good) when I saw an interview of the guy in 2015. The fella was so high that you seriously sensed he was going to be a problem.
I thought after the choking a woman thing would force WB into action but no. But they acted quick to drop Johnny Depp from Fantastic Beasts and the movie ended up a BO disappointment. And the ironic thing is, there were no videos proving the guy abused Heard.

Yeah, they shouted back then,

"DCEU is too dark and broody",
"The colour palette is too bland"
"Comic book movies should not be serious"

Today, we have DC movies being opposites of these and yet nobody is watching these "marvel-like" movies again. Lol...
Lol, if you spend most of your days listening to people who consistently say bad things about you, you end up becoming who and what they want you to be, not who you want to be or can be.
Imagine if Game Of Thrones stuck by the sword and fantasy trope, we won't have gotten G. O. T that we all knew. But hey, it's their business, they got investors to please. The more reason I don't think WB will have the balls to keep things consistent with the upcoming DCU. The old managements have already set the brand up to fail.

The Flash currently sits at 210.9M from $139M opening at the box office, not the ideal for a movie of its calibre, but a far cry from the prophecy of doom all over the net.

That's why I always said, let the coming weeks determine the performance of the movie. Who knows, things may go positive.

Divide that by 2. WB still haven't gotten investors money in the project. You think the movie is going to make an additional 300? Hehehe, you should be Superman. I love your optimism.

Yeah, I was very confident of the movie making bank. What's not to like?

Apparently, it seems we underestimated the number of general audiences who actually knew about Ezra Miller shenanigans.

Cos what I'm seeing definitely ain't about the movie being really bad. It's more or less with the GA not supporting the movie because of the main actor. Imagine a Flash movie struggling with Elemental. 😢😢

After going through many people's comments on social media (Twitter) it seems even casual people knew about the shït. Many even knew about Ezra without even knowing about the DCEU impending reboot.

It's how Blue Beetle performs we'd properly gauge Ezra's influence. Either way, I think Blue Beetle will do well, if anything, it's doing better than Flash especially with Brazil and Latinos support.
You underestimated the influence of social media and the coverage of the network news lol. Again, WB hiring people to say stuff like it's the greatest thing ever set the movie up to fail.

Contrary to your opinion, WB actually promoted Joker to the high heavens. It's one of the few marketing genius done by WB in recent years.

WB carried the film to Cannes festival, Venice film festival and it won the Golden Lion. They promoted the hell of that movie once it gained critical acclaim on those festival. And remember how WB was taking it to all the available film festivals and the standing ovations we heard it earned almost every month leading to its release.

Let's not forget Joker had tremendous marketing months before it even debuted with peeps shouting that stupid talk of it "inciting incels and possibly lead to violence on premiere weekend".
Joker release was very controversial then, I don't even think Ezra Miller issue came close to that.

Remember the big negative marketing campaign some Hollywood critics did back then few weeks to the film release and remember the accusations of Disney paying them to discredit the movie then.

Such talks prompted the public to go watch it for themselves. It becomes very evident if you look at the rotten tomatoes score for the movie and how it ironical was up for best movie at the Academy and winning Best Actor.
Please don't compare Joker controversy with Ezra Miller. Joker is a fictional character and a film about mental health. Ezra Miller literally was a criminal fronting a movie. He kidnap kids and was grooming them, he choked a woman. He went on the run.
Apologies for being wrong about the Joker not being marketed but my point is, Superman Legacy can be a huge profit with minimal and strategic marketing.

Bale saw the script and said, "You dey whine me ni"
I mean it would have ruined Nolan's franchise lol. Thank God he said no. Come to think of it, in a better world, Bale would have sold the film better than Michael Keaton and minus Ezra Miller.
Nothing against Keaton but bringing him back was more to do with nostalgia of the past.

I was skeptical about this movie being a success, but Abduleez was so confident in it that made me feel nothing could stop the movie from being a success, fast-forward to today people are still trying to figure out what exactly went wrong.
A lot went wrong for it. Starting with the lead actor. Should have had him off the project after he choked a woman. But hey, if he weren't part of the rainbow movement, he would have been fired.
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Minemrys(op): 9:09pm On Jun 24, 2023
Let's be honest here, if Joker can gross 1bill with minimal marketing, why won't Superman Legacy make profit with minimal marketing?
Let's face it, a film that's going to make money must be ready to defend itself. Most movies that require too much hyping are either of less known characters whose marketing budget is higher than production budget or films the studio know is hard to sell or not that good.
You don't need to do too much promotion for a Superman film. Let's be honest, too much marketing most times turn people off. It has adverse effects on the target that they will want to expect greater quality from that product, and if it's less, their word of mouth would end up negative. The Flash movie had celebrities like Tom Cruise hyping it as a film that changes narrative, test screen audiences hyped it up as the dark Knight level of quality.
Sometimes less is more. Superman Legacy doesn't need James Gunn or those involved hyping it up 24/7. Let the media do it, and be strategic about the marketing.
You can actually make a Superman film with a 175million budget. (Have a good story, minimize the use of high profile Hollywood stars, minimize excessive advertising. It can be done. You really don't need too much CGI if practical FX can be visible)
A film that will make profit will make profit.

This is a massive dub....

Aquaman 2 isn't in the DCU just like Blue Beetle isn't. These are just corporate talk not to de-market the movie who feel less invested since the universe is ending.

Blue Beetle will be the first character for the DCU but it doesn't mean its in the DCU since it was finished filming even before Gunn became president. And there have been no reshoots.

Although, it can be worked out in the future to fit into the DCU, since it was produced mainly as a standalone and far removed from the dead DCEU.
I already told him not to believe that but you know, I don't want to keep pushing the argument. If Aquaman is in it, why let go of Gadot, Cavill and Affleck?
I really no get strength to dey argue on the matter jare. Anyone can believe what they want.

John Campea wey dey mostly talk through his @ss. That werey wey be anti DC.
Person wey don admit before say Disney pay am money for good reviews.

Abeg, make him swerve.
There's still a lot of time between now and Superman Legacy release so I wouldn't be that pessimistic. Besides it's James Gunn. If they can properly market it with them making sure people know it's from Gunn, maybe just maybe it would improve the film's stock.

It's still very early days to be predicting doom and gloom.
My advice to WB, and James Gunn. They should let Legacy sell itself. No too much marketing like they have been fond of. Gunn should shut up and stay off the media. Release the first trailer 6 months to release. The second one 3 months to and the 3rd,three weeks to release. Release just 3 TV spots.
They don't have to make all the money in the first week or opening day. If a movie is good, people will go to cinemas to see it again and again.
Besides they should have lower expectations and make a forecast of 450 million dollars gross.
Let the film be itself and breathe. Let it defend itself. Enough with the multiple test screenings. Sign everyone involved to secrecy, stay off media and reduce presence. This is reverse marketing. Let the media do the marketing and publicity for them without wasting money on hype and stuff.
In fact the first DCU films should follow this pattern. Building too much hype ends up ruining the experience. And people will be less forgiving of flaws in such films considering the over marketing before hand.

Only thing the movie needs is good word of mouth. Many people that rushed to see the movie first were just haters and with the trend DC has been on many Loyal fans were just being cautious.
I think if more people come out and squash this nonsense talk of bad CGI and incoherent story the movie will gain some legs.
Bro, the CGI was bad. It's not nitpicking. It was really bad. Could take you out of the film unless you are used to the CW series.

We'll know for sure if the haters were really the ones that saw it first when 2nd week numbers drop.
The villain was terrible that if we cut him from the movie, it still won't affect it. In fact there was no villain. However if you watched The Flash season 3, you will understand what they wanted to do.

There's many things going against the movie but I'm still in doubt the significance of Ezra Miller on the film underperforming.

Here's my stand on it. 👇👇But in coming weeks I'd properly gauge the impact of it all and Ezra issues.
The many fan screenings were because WB didn't trust what they made. They wanted to build early hype. This led to over exposure of the whole thing.

They knew the film can't stand on its own and Ezra could not market it. If I blame Snyder for a lot of things, casting Ezra Miller tops the list.
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Minemrys(op): 6:24am On Jun 20, 2023
abduleez1:
This is what I'm hoping for.
Na haters rush go watch that film first to dampen it's word of mouth.

There's still small hope to salvage the movie. WB needs to pump out IMAX screens for this film ASAP.
And it has good word of mouth in China and Japan.
They just need to spread the word to potential movie goers.
Tell me you don't believe that. haters rushing to go see a film to dampen it's word of mouth? Come on. Isn't that a stretch?
If a film is good, it stands for itself. The Flash had many issues. Miller was a PR nightmare and on the news for a lot of reasons which removed interest towards seeing the movie for a lot of people. Instead they wanted to wait for those who saw it to give thoughts on it. The film didn't help in that it had a lot of negative vibes going into it i.e reshoots, ever changing endings, and yea, it had characters contemporary folks didn't care about lol. Michael Keaton as Batman to sell a 2023 film? Lol. Film would have made more if they used Robert Pattinson or Christian Bale.
The film didn't sell itself by taking viewers out of it with poor CGI.

The CW series may have done more harm than good as recently it has taken people off the flash character in a way. Or perhaps some other negative effect.
In general the film was entertaining but not that special. The nostalgia for super hero films are dwindling and to sell it, you need to be unique. Like the Boys.

Test screenings don't determine the performance of the film, recent happenings in Hollywood attest to that.

But Aquaman 2 will perform well although its possibility of grossing a billion is low, but it will make a minimum of $700M. It will take the path of Black Panther 2.

This whole DCEU mess wouldn't have happened if WB hadn't ran from the initial plan they intended with Man of Steel franchise. Film grossed $660mill but WB were greedy to bring in the Trinity in what was supposed to be a sequel to MOS.
Had they done a true sequel to MOS, they would have known what they wanted going forward. But hey, they wanted a JL immediately.

I also don't like Hoult for Superman. He's too broody.
I'd prefer David Corenswet even tho I haven't watched him perform. 🙃

Anyways, these castings does have their fans and some people excited by the outcome.
James Gunn has been doing good so far in terms of creatives joining his universe.
My own is, any actor coming should play Clark Kent and Superman as two separate persons like Christopher Reeves did. We should be given the idea of why people don't see Superman while looking at Clark. I don't mean making Clark too bumbling or a fool but distinct to Kal El. Recent iteration haven't gotten that. Cavill basically just played Superman and not Clark, same with Tyler Hoechlin but Hoechlin is better than Cavill in making Clark somehow different but he still didn't do enough.

Test screenings doesn't determine the performance of films. There are movies with good test screenings that ended up performing badly and vice versa.

When the movie releases, we will know if it will perform well or not. But my bet is on the movie performing. I see it making a minimum of $700M. The possibility of it grossing a billion dollar will be low, but it will perform well. I see the Black Panther 2 scenario here.

And talking about being retained, Aquaman is already been retained. Aquaman 2, according to Gunn, is in the DCU. Its event is set after flash, and post flash era is the DCU.

When the test screenings are bad, there usually is a problem with the film, which will call for rewrites and multiple reshoots. Even then, things might still be problematic. I have never heard of films that tested bad in screenings but ended up loved. Test screenings are for public viewers not critics by the way.
