I agree with this suggestion...
And the calendar year for the award should be January to December, so everyone is clear...
With this method, everybody will know the likely winner....

Who Voted For who?

Romance / Why Messi Swooped All Awards This Year by Minsk24: 12:17pm On Jan 19
Messi won the FIFA best award for 2023, as a Messi fan, i had mixed feelings, i decided to research the format used for the award, now my doubts are cleared....for Ronaldo fans, because of bitter emotions, they won't bother to research, they will let online pages use them, accuse fifa of corruption, cast aspersions and so on... Its been a tough period for Ronaldo fans...

FIFA the best award was voted for the best player within 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023....
Fifa sets up a shortlist, the captain of each national team, coaches , journalists and fans cast their votes....
These votes are tallied up and the winner of the votes gets the award....
Messi and Haaland tied up for same amount of votes, but based on article 12 of the rules, the player with most number of captain votes, wins the award
During this period in view, Messi had similar Goals Plus Assists stat with Haaland and mbappe....
And Messi will top them off on other stats as well...
Haaland had more trophies, 4,
Messi had two

Bottom Line
Every player on the shortlist deserves the award, the player with the highest votes gets to win it

Same thing for the ballon d or 2023

The period in view was from 1st August 2022 to 31st July 2023

Ballon d or was decided by journalist representative of each country, this player with the highest votes wins

For Cr7 fans, where is the corruption?
Fifa does not decided who wins neither does the french magazine decide who wins ballon d or
Why are u guys so bitter, that u cannot carry out a simple research...
I am a Messi fan but i disagree with the voting process because voting carries lots of sentiment, i believe a new process should be used, but untill then, Lionel Messi has 8 ballon dor and 8 FIFA best award....
All of them decided by voters who deemed him to be the best player of the year...

I will open the floor by saying...
Reformation of the international order
I would Love to see a world order where the UN plays a bigger role , a multipolar world order that has no singular hegemonic power... paving the way for the UN to be reformed to fufill its mandate
Reevaluation of Nigerian Constitution
The Nigeria constitution needs to be re-evaluated , the need for restructuring the federation to ensure the federating units can be more productive..
Reformation of the global economic system
With the rise of artificial intelligence, there will be lots of job losses, how do we have an economic system that will ensure reduction of poverty and continue human innovation and competitiveness...

YOU KNOW WHY I DON'T PITY BLACK PEOPLE? I'LL TELL YOU WHY:

They don't know how to properly evaluate the scope of a problem and make carefully guided projections. Please let me explain a bit.

When Boko Haram was ravaging the north east, how many of you used to remember how middlebelters and southerners especially used to boast that "the nonsense can't reach here." Some would even say "as long as they keep the madness in the north". What makes it worse is that Boko Haram split into another faction called ISWAP, with the "WA" in it represnting West Africa. But some deluded folks down south are still thinking its a northern problem when their intentions are clear that they are not only coming for the whole of nigeria but even west africa. Today, from north to south in nigeria, has been affected

Secondly, the year of Covid was the year these terrorists loaded a lot of weapons in the forests. There were videos upon videos of these terrorists and their trucks being searched and assault rifles amongst variety of illegal weapons were found. Do you know what the youth were doing during that period? I'll tell you: they were watching BBNaija. They were argunig Tacha vs nengi vs Mercy, vs Cee-C. No protests, no nothing.

The examples are numerous but let me give you one final example. Corpers from Akwa Ibom were kidnapped in Zamfara or so... till date some of them are missing. Instead of the whole NYSC program to grind to a halt and major protests sponsored by all schools until they are rescued and a list of agenda is made to at least safeguard graduating students and corpers (not the whole country now o, just students alone), no noise was really made and everyone has moved on.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A KIND OF BLACK PEOPLE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, THIS NIGERIAN VERSION OF BLACK PEOPLE. I CANNOT EXPLAIN THEIR OT. BEING THE MOST POPULOUS SINGULAR BLACK NATION, THEY ARE THE DIRECT REASON BLACK RACE IS A CANNON FODDER ACROSS THE GREEN EARTH.

With all this calamity, someone who barely escaped these kidnappers' lair, would find a way to go to church to give one idiotic statement about how the g_d of his ______ (insert church denomination here) saved him... indirectly implying that what he serves is superior. What is painful is that they can't realise their barefaced idiocy. In fact, the rest of the congregation would clap and cement the overall idiocy we are talking about but usually that is only short-lived as there's always some form of other nigerian calamity around the corner waiting to befall one of these warped-thinking primates.
Well said

God exists, God is likely to be the source or system where souls are made...he is not the ruler of the universe or creator, God is more likely a conscious system that produces souls...he loves the souls but has no control...
The God recorded in religion are just advanced alien beings that colonized planet Earth, they created mankind tru advanced technology...

They most stupid thing about the Satan delusion is that, despite how religion has painted him to be the bad guy, the same satan allegedly controls the world and has so much power, yet he has not said his side of the story for thousands of years, he doesn't have an organized following, this is a being that wants as a many people to join his camp, yet he doesn't have common sense to organize his followers and change the narrative about himself..
The concept of Satan is so dumb....

Power tussle because of the vacuum is why the Usa has the right to sponsor coups all over the world? Its why the USA have the right to attack those nations and cause destructions there? Its why the usa has the right to sanction any country that refuses to listen to thir biddings and deliberately disobey the UN ? Its the same reasons that makes gay rights more important than savings lives of africans being killed by terrorist?
Sponsoring of coup is a legitimate way to protect your interest, like i said, there's no morality in geo-politics, u have to protect your strategic interest, but what is the long term outcome of your interest as it relates to the world , that is the unit of measure...
Which nation did USA attack after ww2? That is why u need to do ur research before coming out to speak, US wars after ww2 were interventions to support different factions in the tussle for power...
For example US intervened to support south Vietnam, while the USSR and china supported North Vietnam, same thing in Korea...and all over the world...the US and USSR supported different factions in wars, this was to protect their interests and promote influence...
The US has made unilateral sanctions, in bid to protect its interest and promote its influence, any hegemonic power will do the same....for example, if Nigeria were to recognize Taiwan today, China will place sanctions on abuja, this is normal geo-politics...and as the world evolves, we will see new systems that will make the world a better place...for example, the rise of China is creating a multi -polar world order, US place as the sole hegemonic power is fast deteriorating....what will this shift mean for the world? On the positive side, i hope it brings more balance that the world desperately needs....
Supporting gay rights is supporting human rights according to the view of Washington, it is normal for hegemonic powers to push their influence on their subordinates, this enables soft power...and in return , soft power is very effective tool for power influence

Us global order has brought stability? Like seriously? Please remind me again of all the world powers, who has been involved in more wars since after the ww2? Peace and stability loving USA shey? grin u ppl are very funny o

Please what is the peace loving USA still doing in Syria till date? Ensuring stability since the coup they staged didn't work out like it did in Ukraine and in Venezuela partially.
Lol , let me school you, the US order has led tl the greatest advancement of mankind...
When u talk about wars after ww2, remember ww2 led to the fall of colonial empires, leaving a power vacuum which the US and USSR tussled for influence....
This is a normal geo-political scenario where powers seek influence via different methods... ultimately, the US and the west came out tops...
Have u researched on the wars after ww2 and seen the root causes, and understand how external powers tried to take advantage? If u have done so, u wont be here talking bs about US, is US a saint? Not at all, there's no morality in geo-politics, its about strategic interest...
I want to ask you, why do u think US has so many military base around the world? Did they force themselves on the host countries? The countries want the US to have presence because they trust the US....they trust the Rules-based international order instituted by the US, is the system perfect? Not at all...is the US perfect? Not at all.....does US imperfections negate the impact of their influence? Not at all...
U can hate on the US for different reasons, but u must understand the powerful influence the US has had on the world.... apart from the British empire, no other power has influenced the world compared to the US...

You can read about USA's involvement in yemen and Syria, with their usual modus operandi of fighting terrorism or bringing democracy.

Russia didn't bomb Ukraine indiscriminately like Israel is doing. Tanks where what moved into Ukraine first, the places where buildings where destroyed where later on during the war and the people there alreàdy evacuated. As for mariopol there where no civilians there when russia started pounding the place except the ones azov held as human shields which were later released before russia finally leveled the still.

Israel is using dumb bombs and they were firing from fighter jets.
Stop talking about what u don't know , the US involvement in Syria was to fight Isis alongside Kurdish forces, US had no direct involvement in Yemen, iT sold weapons to Saudi Arabia...
Russia did the same thing in Ukraine, there's no point arguing with u oga, so Russia was pounding mariupol, an empty city? Use common sense, why will a population flee from an invading force ,if there is no massive bombing campaign....
Russia used the same strategy in Syria, bombing rebel held areas before the army moved in ... the Russian general who spearheaded the syrian campaign was even called up to do same in Ukraine...
Stop letting propaganda decieve u from using common sense and logic

Israel is carrying on with the war in the best possible way. No better alternative. Most of those who died are Hamas terrorists and their sympathizers.

Before the Israel's ground invasion into Gaza two months ago, civilians were severally warned to flee northern and central Gaza. They were warned through fliers, calls and SMS. Those who are civilians are presently in southern city of Rafah. Therefore, anybody seen in the North part of Gaza should be shot at sight.

The war is an unwinnable war to begin with, obviously they lack adequate intelligence on Hamas.
Just like Vietnam war, fighters has gone underground while they were busy doing area bombardements.
Ground invasion put them at great disadvantage because their soldiers were wasted away on the ground.
They could have dealt with Hamas in a strategic and precise way, now they loose international support, they couldn’t defeat Hamas. They won more enemies among the Gazans, because obviously those whose families were killed will automatically join Hamas
I do not agree with ur assertion that the war is unwinnable.... Isreal is making progress..if it controls a huge amount of gaza, it gives it higher ground in the negotiating table...
Please elaborate on "they could have dealt with hamas in a precise and strategic way" with the objective of dis-arming hamas in view...

Russians mostly pounded military installations, ofcourse there’s minimal civilian casualties and all every civilian casualty is covered by western and Ukrainian media, and as we all know it’s been nothing close to this Israeli’s situation even though the Isreali war is only about 2 months old.

In Iraq and Afghanistan, US did acknowledged some civilian casualties, and medias from West and East reported it too. Over 2 decades of that war, the civilian casualty no reach this isreali own.

See why many of us see it as ethnic cleansing ? Or genocide When the Hamas they are fighting are still capable to hit them again.

Are they fighting Hamas or the civilian population
Oga stop talking bs, Russia pounded Ukrainian towns before making advances, they utilized artillery without precision to hit areas, this strategy ensured civilians fled the areas...
I said , educate me on US engagement in Yemen and Syria, i am waiting...
Yes u can call it ethnic cleansing, but the fact remains that it is a war strategy, and I'm wanting to know if alternatives exists,

Your last point is noteworthy, only a political situation will tame the crises....

Honestly Israel has very few options especially when enraged. But look at what it's doing in Lebanon...... Precision targeting of Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists ..... It could do that in Gaza too (some of the strikes of Gaza are actually targeted ) no the blanket bombing of everybody everywhere...... That's wrong and Israel risk getting strategically defeated by Hamas if it continues like this because support is drying up and everyone knows that if not for airpower Israel can't face Hamas in street battles on its own home front and succeed ....if not this war would have been long over

I understand ur point, but the two situations are not the same...if isreal were to invade south Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah, it would employ a different strategy...
Isreal risks loosing support, i agree with you... only time will tell what the outcome is....

Why Russia no pound Ukraine first? I'm sure if it was Russia that did half of what Israel is doing in Gaza, the entire western world will be making noise all over the place.

When russia moved into ukraine , automatically civilians fled, all russia did was point the directions to corridors where civilians should flee to, or you relocate those you can relocate to safe areas. ..russia is using precise an accurre munitions so that they can minimize civilian casualties.

Israel is not doing any of this. How can you be using dumb bombs in areas where you have large civilian population? Everything isreal is doing in gaza is deliberate. Theres no plan, they dont care about civilian casualties as long as they ger one or 2 hamas members.

Or can anyone explain how israel/hamas war of less than a year already has more civilian killings than russia/ukraine war of 2years?

Israel is following USA's pattern of warfare. Zero regards for civilians which involves indiscriminate Missile bombing of everything before ground troops come in. Usa did in Iraq, Yemen, Yugoslavia, Syria, japa . etc
Russia did the same thing in Ukraine, do some research before regurgitating propaganda...
Russia pounded Ukraine before moving in, a good example was mariupol...
And important to note that Gaza is densely populated compared to Ukraine that has huge landmass....with big landmass comes with a reduced death toll compared to pounding a small area packed with huge population...
Please what did USA do in Yemen and Syria, i cannot recall any significant military intervention in these countries on the scale we are talking about here, please educate me sir

How about avoiding the war in the first place by ending the Gaza blockade that has been on for 17 years...this is the root cause of the problem.

The fact is Israel only acted in RAGE and was not strategic. Who wouldn't react with what Hamas did but the mad rage and collective punishment rubbished any claim Israel has to right to self defence.

I know they fight every now and then but of recent there have been genuine moves towards peace on both sides spearheaded by US. But since last year when Bibi and his right wing coalition came to power...there have been fears a war is imminent.
Why?
The far right are for annihilation of Gaza, they want Gaza reoccupied, they want increases in settlement expansion, in short if they have their way Gaza will be a beach resort....and they have not disappointed..

Yes that's understandable, the situation in gaza is pathetic and the current government in Israel makes things worse ...
The purpose of the thread is to analyze if there would have been any alternative to the high intensity warfare wager by Israel...

The situation is clear. Israel arrogantly set for itself an impossible tasks right from the beginning. It has failed and it is now in the process of withdrawing from Gaza. The invasion was bound to fail from the get go. It has not achieved its intended strategic objectives in the invasion.

Hamas remains strong, no Israeli hostages have been freed, rather it killed its own hostages, and casualties on the Israeli side are increasing. The continuous rocket attacks from Hamas persist, and Israel has lost global support, facing heightened animosity. Currently, Israel is actively seeking a solution out of the bottomless pit it digs for itself in Gaza. There is no military solution for the situation in that region, Israel's adversary have become stronger and have the ability to fight back. It is time Israel get off its high horse and embrace a political solution to the Palestinian question.
I wonder where you are getting your news from....
Isreal has achieved military control of Northern Gaza and is now moving towards the Central part...the aim of the military operations is to disarm Hamas...
I agree they must achieve a political solution, but it helps when u have the higher ground on the negotiating table...

Considering the enormous death toll in Gaza, what alternative military strategy should the Isreali have used in order to disarm Hamas ...
Considering the gaza is very densely populated.... normally in war situations like this, u pound the area to ensure civilians flee, making it easier for your troops to engage the enemy...
It is very difficult to fight urban warfare with civilians, especially in such a packed place like Gaza...
My question to geo-political experts on NL, could there have been an alternative strategy by Israel?
