Religion / Re: Why Are There Different Beliefs In Churches Today by Minsk24: 9:43am On Dec 28, 2023 |
The reason is complex Firstly, the evolution of the bible plays a role, a book that has gone tru multiple editing, thereby leading to inconsistencies in interpretation... Secondly, the most important factor is that there are multiple entities interacting with human beings, each with different agenda and understanding...that is why the same holy Spirit that inspires a Catholic to venerate Mary, is the same spirit that tells a seventh day adventist to keep the sabbath...this tells u that there is no unified entity (holy spirit, God , e.t.c) that interacts with humans....there a multiple entities interacting with humans, thus leading to various interpretation...... Thirdly The separation of church from state... christainity has undergone a revolution, from the days of the religion been the source of power and legitimacy , with this separation, the church can no longer forcefully have a unified interpretation...because people will read, understand and interprete differently |

🔸A 3,300-year-old chariot bridge is still in use today. The Arkadiko Bridge was built between 1,300 and 1,190 BCE, making it one of the oldest still-used arch bridges still in existence even though it’s not suggested to drive on. It was built on a road that linked Tiryns to Epidaurus, and was part of a larger military road system. 4 Likes

🔸This incredible photograph from 1885 AD, of Anandibai Joshi of India, Keiko Okami of Japan, and Sabat Islambouli of Syria, who each became the first licensed female doctors in their respective countries. The three were students at the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania; one of the only places in the world at the time where women could study medicine. As Mallika Rao writes in HuffPost, "If the timing doesn't seem quite right, that's understandable. In 1885 AD, women in the U.S. still couldn't vote, nor were they encouraged to learn very much. Popular wisdom decreed that studying was a threat to motherhood." Given this, how did three women from around the world end up studying there to become doctors? The credit, according to Christopher Woolf of PRI's The World, goes to the Quakers who "believed in women’s rights enough to set up the WMCP way back in 1850 in Germantown.” Woolf added, "It was the first women’s medical college in the world, and immediately began attracting foreign students unable to study medicine in their home countries. First they came from elsewhere in North America and Europe, and then from further afield. Women, like Joshi in India and Keiko Okami in Japan, heard about WMCP, and defied expectations of society and family to travel independently to America to apply, then figure out how to pay for their tuition and board. Besides the international students, it also produced the nation’s first Native American woman doctor, Susan La Flesche, while African Americans were often students as well. Some of whom, like Eliza Grier, were former slaves." 2 Likes

Penthesilea, Queen of the Amazons. She fought Achilles to the death. At the moment of her defeat, they fell in love. Penthesilea (Greek: Πενθεσίλεια, romanized: Penthesíleia) was an Amazonian queen in Greek mythology, the daughter of Ares and Otrera and the sister of Hippolyta, Antiope and Melanippe. She assisted Troy in the Trojan War, during which she was killed by Achilles or Neoptolemus. The asteroid 271 Penthesilea, discovered in 1887, was named in her honor.[1]

Crates of Thebes was a Cynic philosopher, who gave away his money to live a life of poverty on the streets of Athens. He married Hipparchia of Maroneia, who also shared his views on materialism. Respected by the people of Athens, he is remembered for being the teacher of Zeno of Citium, the founder of Stoicism. 2 Likes
