Education › Re: Advise A Medical Aspirant! by Mires: 1:09pm On Sep 18, 2019 |
Ademola47: Hello Nairalenders,
Please, I need your advice experienced medicine graduates, students and consultants.
I am a 19-year-old medicine (MBBS) aspirant. I have written three jamb and MBBS admission has not come my way.
I applied twice in ui and once in Unilag. For the unilag admission, I was 11 marks below the cut off mark in 2017.
In 2018, I was 2 marks below the cut off mark in ui. This year, my aggregate is relatively low.
Now, I need advice on: 1. How to score 340+ in the forthcoming (2020) utme. 2. How to re strategize 3. How to eliminate boredom while reading/preparing.
4. Materials/books I can prepare with.
Also, I'll be glad to learn from your experience.
Thanks in anticipation.
PS: My utme score has always been between 280-318 To have scored between 280 and 318 in UTME and you couldn't secure admission, two things might have hindered you. I will speak of the premier University, the first and the best. 1. For one to secure admission into a competitive course such as Medicine and Surgery in Ui, one needs virtually A1 and few B2 in SSCE. 2. Post-field UTME must be very good. If you want to get medicine and surgery in Ui, there's an easy root but warrants effort. Three As in Cambridge A level or 2 As and B, you are good to go |

emkz: This is the first time I'd see a Nigerian politician hold his umbrella himself. At least, Kingsley Moghalu can learn from this.
There is something about Osinbajo that endears him to us, and the best decision Buhari made was making him his running mate. You can see the genuineness in his efforts and I am sure if he had been allowed to supervise the security forces, the spate of insecurity would have been curtailed significantly. I hope he is allowed to run in 2023 and Nigerians would unite and vote him in. He has the temperament and has shown balls in taking tough decisions like when he fired the DSS boss. Bro, forget it. Southwest will no where come near presidency come 2023. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: CBN Offers Automatic Employment To Ebonyi First-Class Graduates Of Economics by Mires: 9:26am On Sep 14, 2019 |
Addme: In as much as this is good news to Ebonyi State Indigenes but how is this even possible in a country like Nigeria with 36 different components. Is this not selective? How would this even be possible without violating the quota system policies or Mr. Commissioner is high on expired weeds? I think.CBN should have made it a level playing ground for all First Class Economics graduate from all the states. All the same, congrats to all First Class Economics graduate from Ebonyi. It will also serve as an avenue to work hard for other Economics students though only if this is true. Young man, it's not selective. The implication is that Ebonyi state quota isn't filled. |

OtemAtum: RIP father, but is it a crime to put trust in your god to protect you? Where is Jehovah who promised long life and prosperity, but couldn't protect this man? His god had disappointed him.
In other news, the gods of religion such as Jehovah, Allah, Moloch, El, Enki, Odin etc have been banned from having destructive dealings with humans such that now humans can start having mind evolution and liberation from religion.
Currently as I speak, Jehovah, Allah and their likes are locked up in a spiritual cage and this will be so for a thousand years. Within this time, human being shall have mind evolution and global liberation from religious thoughts. They will become more sciences oriented and think deep while attempting to solve problems. Superstitions and religious stories found in various religious books shall be defeated and the world would experience a great revolution.
Currently, Jehovah and Allah have been confined to a spiritual cage for 2 years, 11 months and 6 days already.
Peace to the world. Na dem!!! Atheist |

Right from your first year, your scores and grade would be reduced Why are you being naive? People do graduate with First Class from Nigerian Universities. Stop labelling lectures bad names. |
Education › Re: Chidozie Ojobor, A first Class graduate of UNN, makes waves At the global scene by Mires: 11:46am On Jul 20, 2019 |
calculator123: Glad to know I am conversing with a Ph.D holder. I give you kudos. The major reason I said his comment is an hypothesis is that it's subjective. I am not disputing your ability to make objective inferences, but if another person passes through same institutions like you did, do you think they will come to the same conclusion? In science, an hypothesis must be proven and the result generally accepted. Thus, the subjectivity of his claim makes it an hypothesis since there is a no general acceptance if it. Well, I am not disputing your submission. If you look at mine objectively, you will see it is a balanced analysis. Like you said, most people will always say their mama soup is the sweetest even when it has sour taste. I have a good friend and younger colleague who by God's grace will be rounding up his PhD at UI next year, having earlier obtained his MSc from UI with PhD grade. He keeps saying that the worst thing that happened to his life was to have passed through UNN where he was awarded 2.2 when he's far better than a lot of people who had 2.1 in his MSc class. Bro, UNN believe me is known for what I termed unnecessary stress. At times, I wonder whether all the gragra is because the school wants her products to behave like lions. Lol. Give and take, I prefer UI for a number of reasons. Please, don't ask me why. |
Education › Re: Chidozie Ojobor, A first Class graduate of UNN, makes waves At the global scene by Mires: 10:38am On Jul 20, 2019 |
calculator123: The subjectivity of his comment makes it an hypothesis. A results must be generally agreed to. To one, UNN is better, to another, UI is better. Bro, since I have passed through both institutions for my BSc, MSc and PhD, can't I analyzed objectively the systems I have passed through? Of a truth, if undergraduate students at UNN are treated the same way their counterparts are treated at UI (The First and the Best), believe me, majority of the students will graduate with First Class and Second Class Upper Division. I personally don't want to mention my department at Ui, otherwise I would have shocked you that Ui graduates with 2.1 from the same department hardly make PhD grade at MSc whereas you see 2.1 products from ABU, UNN, and even OOU scaling the hurdle in the same department. In all shall, give it to UI given that it is the frontier in research in Nigeria. Ui to me is more of a sane society when compared to UNN. I went through UNN and for once, I was never issued transcript before graduation to keep track of my progress. But it is the other way round at Ui where undergraduate students are issued their transcript beginning of every semester. That alone, deserves kudos. At UNN, academics are waiting to celebrate students failure. |

calculator123: Why the laughter? His comment hasn't been tested and proven yet. Thus it's an hypothesis Bro it's a thesis and not hypothesis judging by my earlier comment that I have passed through UNN and UI. UI is ranked the best in Nigeria due to research output by faculty members. When it gets to infrastructural maintenance, it is far 100 times better than UNN. But when it comes to quality of teaching given to undergraduate students, Ui is far below when compared to UNN. From my experience, UNN students are subjected to hard life style while I might be wrong to say undergraduate students at Ui are pampered. |

Let me take you through that of Ui formal weighted average which most universities in South West adopt. 0n a weighted average: 40-49% Terminal 50-54% Proceed to MPhil 55-59% Proceed to MPhil/PhD 60% above Proceed to PhD. |
