Education › UI, OAU Orders Resumption Of Academic Activities by Miscellaneous(op): 2:48pm On Dec 09, 2013
Authorities of the University of Ibadan and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife have ordered the reopening of their institutions for academic activities.

While OAU directed that academic activities should start on Monday (today), UI said full academic activities would begin on January 4, 2014.

This was contained in separate statements by the Director, Directorate of Public Communication, UI, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo, and Public Relations Officer of OAU, Mr. Biodun Olarenwaju.

They said this was in line with the decision of their governing councils, to implement the directive of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities and the National Universities Commission that universities should reopen for academic activities. The Federal Government had directed all universities in the country to reopen on December 4, before it was postponed to December 9 to enable lecturers to attend the burial ceremony of late Prof. Festus Iyayi, who died in a motor accident on his way to attend a congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities in Kano.

Education › Re: Nairaland Interschool Debate. :::Planning Thread by Miscellaneous(m):
Damitism: Hey, dude. I wasn't referring to the so-called rudeness as mistake. It was my maths typo and the use of conduction I was referring to. I defined conduct and not conduction as opposed to what one of the Judges said. Well, the only correction I had made to my essay so far was changing 40 to 400. I had gone through the whole pages of the debate again and I was surprised Epaul used some rude words in replying one of the Judges but it was overlooked. But why was I the 'exception'? With what you said now, I now understand better why I was attacked. My past deeds! When you posted the rules/regulations, it sounded so ambiguous that I was infuriated. Don't expect I will keep quiet when I see such things! Now, scroll up again, check the words I underlined in the 'quote'. Take your dictionary and check for the meaning of the first two words. Oh dear! I sounded rude again! Gbaaaaaam! I just win a ban!
You must be thinking I was angry because we lose. It may sound unbelievable but it ain't because of that! It was because I was made to answer the same questions over and over again and with my accuser still saying she didn't understand what I was saying. Well, you weren't in my shoe! No apology this time It seems I have been labeled the villain in this debate. To avoid this kind of things again on here, I'm asking the organisers to kindly remove my name, damitism from the debate. I was planning to have some fun after a very busy and stressful year. Alas!! It had turn to be the exact opposite.

To my fellow uites, I wish you all the best! We'll talk better when we meet
my chairman, what are all these ? You talked like a proud man. . .full of pride. You keep on spotting the blames of others and you have refused to spot yours. You think this is the best ? Mr man, forget name of university because i can see it in your words ''delsu won ui ? . . . impossible!'' I dont know why we have this attitude. . .when we lose, something went wrong but when we win, everything went on smoothly.

I viewed the first page of the debate only and i dont need a soothsayer to tell me that DELSU will win. . . I havnt even seen the scoring but for me, ''Epaul'' was the best speaker. . . his presentation was superb. So man, delsu won that debate even though the topic favoured UI. I challenge you to meet any individual and after they must have gone through that debate, tell them to give you their judgement and you will confirm what i said. We are here to learn we are not here to prove our superiority and as such, be humble. You decide not to participate ? The debate is for your own good. . .you dont know. After giving thanks to God, give thanks to fynestboi for making it happen. So many things we do in life are for our benefits but we seem not to know. . .dont feel too big. Nairaland is just like Nigeria. I actually meant they are the biggest in africa. . . . . .who knows what your writeup might do ? Little wonder why people no longer value certificates but potentials. In the same vain, i wonder why people no longer think about the names of universities but the students they produce. UI is a nice school dont make people think wrongly. Stopping focusing on errors. . .no one is perfect because if you had won, we wont see this. Thanks
