Christianity Etc › Re: You Are Spiritually Matured If You Have "Perfect" Control Over These Things by misreal(m): 1:14pm On Sep 20, 2015 |
starlingslimnet: The phrase "Spiritual maturity" seems to many Christains a non-attainable feat while many have been doctrinated to believe "Spiritual maturity" can only be attained by the G.O's and "they"are mean't to be Spiritual reta'rds like the Galatians. Be it as it may, whatever it is,is totally unscriptural; a siege made to limit your full usage of your right as a Christain (A disciple of Christ).Spiritual maturity is attainable and you can grow into it in few days. But first we must understand what Spiritual maturity means.
Contrary to what we have in the churches, Spiritual maturity is not a 'journey' requiring scores of years but a journey requiring simple 'Faith' in Christ. Spiritual maturity is a long maintained state of Spirit supremacy over all things that makes you "you." In saying what makes you,you I mean things that makes you a Spiritual reta'rd.
And If you are have "perfect" control over the areas listed below then you are Spiritually matured by the Standard of Christ irrespective of what your church teaches.
1. Anger: Anger brought down the great prophet Moses and caused him to be the one of the many who sees with their eyes but taste not with their mouth.Anger is a great hindrance to your growth into Spiritual maturity. To become a Spiritual giant in the Spiritual realm you need to subject anger. Remember no one heard a word of anger in his mouth.
2. Flesh: Talk about the fall of Samson flesh caused it in form of lust. The flesh is not the only hinderance as believed but one of the many hindrances to Spiritual maturity, quick and deadly. You must subject your flesh in all it's form.
3. Appetite: "How art the mighty fallen." Esau lost his birthright to appetite. The right to give birth to the natiom of Israel: for God has promised Isaac "To your seed" and Esau was the fist born; rightful heir but he lost it. Your appetite might hinder you from growing into Spiritual maturity.
4. Tongue: What brought plague upon the Israelites? Tongue. What brought leprosy on Miriam? Tongue. Need I to say anything more on Tongue? You have to subject and control
5. Jealousy: An inbuilt trait present in every single individual. Bad when supreme good when subjected.Spiritual maturity requires you to control your innate jealousy.
6. Feelings And Emotions: Seems a major problem among Christain youths. But if you don't control your feelings and emotions your feelings and emotions will control you and when it does you can never attain Spiritual maturity.
7. Thoughts And Imagination: When you have such a past like I had, thoughts and imagination becomes a great hindrance to your Spiritual growth into maturity.Notwithstanding, you have to have control over them and that is why there is number eight.
8. Heart: "Out of the heart comes......." The Bible admonish us to guard our heart. The ability to gaurd your heart is Spiritual maturity. What comes in and goes out,who comes in and goes out must always be under your control.
Seems hard, didn't it? But not when the Holy Spirit is involved. Remember by strength shall no man prevail even to say,you don't have power over your inner though you may do to some extent over your outer and these problems are inner. Not by power, nor by might but by my Spirit says the Lord.Remember, what the heart can conceive a man can achieve. Trust the Spirit and see if all these altogether will not be evident in your life. any man can master all these.. a spiritually matured Christian is one who understands the move of the spirit of God. |

Christianity Etc › Re: The Dearth Of Compassion In Pentecostal Churches by misreal(m): 8:52pm On Sep 18, 2015 |
ebamma: Attending one of this new wave pentecostal churches,
And listening to their sermons, will give you an inkling why their Pastors buy jets and live in opulence like the don't give a damn,
This pastors mention wealth, riches, prosperity, more than the mention compassion , forgiveness, honesty in their sermons.
This pastors create an atmosphere of pretence around their churches, that even a poor member will never voice out for help from the church, and might even be using the little help he gets outside the church to pay tithes,
so that he will not be left out of the heavenly blessings list, while his pastor is not patient enough to wait for heaven,
And rather starts receiving his here on earth.
Pastors sayings like
'he was poor so that you may be rich,
He suffered so that you may have peace,
God did not create any of us poor, our transgressions made us poor, And other fancy sayings,
Create an utopia in the minds of their congregation,
That even the hungry will pretend that the are filled,
To show that God's work has started manifesting in their lives.
. There are still a few good churches out there who try
All their best to help poor members and spread the gospel without needing a private jet.
The Church of Christ is one church I admire in that regard,
In this church, the pastor is put on a salary and lives in a flat provided by the church,
Sick members get visitations from the church and an offering is done on their behalf to help them get treated in an hospital,
And days and set aside for evangelism.
Another church I admire too is the Jehovah's Witnesses,
Hate them or like them , Even with Oyedepo's private jet, he cannot cover the distance this guys have covered spreading the gospel,
This guys set aside days of the week, just to go out and evangelise,
Using the donations the receive to print religious tracts for onward distribution to people the evangelise to.
Religion is not a business,
And the church is not an industry,
And founding a church does not make you Bill Gates,
There are no dearth of people out there that need help,
And even if the don't worship in your church or don't even believe in your God,
Helping them is the Godly thing to do,
It's shameful that pastors now choose to live like Dangote, and expect us to be okay with it and who says pastors don't help the poor? just because they don't do it at your house doesn't mean they don't do it. if you truly know God, you will know that it is not in your place to judge. no offence intended. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Beware Of The Prosperity Gospel by misreal(m): 7:26am On Sep 18, 2015 |
blackfase: God is contemptuous of prosperity preachers. He says: “They give useless medicine for my people’s grievous wounds, for they assure them all is well when that isn’t so at all!” (Jeremiah 8:10-11). The prosperity gospel maintains the redemption in Christ Jesus is also redemption from financial poverty. It says every Christian is called to be rich in dollars and cents. A favourite scripture in this regard comes from Paul, who says: “You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9). Enticing words This so-called gospel appeals to the rich because it tells them they will become richer. It appeals to the poor because it promises them they will become rich. It appeals to pastors because it has proved to be an effective way to grease money out of Christians by making them believe if they give to their churches, God would give them a hundredfold return. Jesus says those who leave their house or land or brothers or sisters or father or mother for the sake of the gospel will receive a hundredfold return. (Matthew 10:29-30). He is clearly referring here to spiritual returns, for no man can have 100 physical mothers and fathers. However, his message has been distorted on the altar of the prosperity gospel. Thus, Gloria Copeland says: “You give $1 for the gospel’s sake and $100 belongs to you. Give $10 and receive $1,000. Give $1,000 and receive $100,000. Give one house and receive one hundred houses or one house worth one hundred times as much. Give one airplane and receive one hundred times the value of the airplane. Give one car and the return would furnish you a lifetime of cars.” Fleecing the flock The prosperity gospel is convenient for justifying the wealth of pastors who have become rich at the expense of their congregation. Thus, Marcus Bishop says unapologetically: “Financial prosperity is just as much a part of the Gospel as anything else… I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m not ashamed of prosperity. I’m not ashamed that Jesus bought and paid for me to be wealthy. Let me just tell you from the heart of God, preachers are supposed to be rich.” Kenneth Copeland echoes him. He maintains: “You can draw on heaven like a magnet. We don’t have to wait until we get to heaven to get God’s blessings. Now’s when we need them.” The prosperity gospel is also lucrative for selling books. The Christian book market is full of “get-rich-quick tipsters” and “one-minute-solution merchants.” For example, Joel Osteen’s “Your Best Life Now” sold millions of copies. It was number one on the New York Times bestseller list. Osteen tells Christians they can get their best life now; a far more marketable proposition than one saying: “Take up your cross and follow Jesus. Tit for tat The prosperity gospel says in order to receive from God; we first have to first give money to the church. But Peter said the exact opposite to Simon the sorcerer, who offered him money in order to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit: “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!” (Acts 8:20). God is no respecter of persons. He not only prospers the righteous, he also prospers sinners. Bad fortune is not an index of God’s judgement. Neither is prosperity an index of his favour. (Job 21:7-13). Many sinners, atheists and wicked people easily escape calamities, while many are the afflictions of the righteous. (Psalm 34:19). Solomon says: “Exactly the same thing will finally happen to all of us, whether we live right and respect God or sin and don’t respect God. Yes, the same thing will happen if we offer sacrifices to God or if we don’t, if we keep our promises or break them.” (Ecclesiastes 9:1-3). God allows the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Accordingly, he often gives great wealth to the wicked. This tendency baffled Jeremiah who queried God: “Why does the way of the wicked prosper?” (Jeremiah 12:1). Prosperity of fools For the unregenerate, riches can be a curse. If we inherit riches or if our plans succeed beyond our wildest expectations, it is time to pray for the grace to handle it, that it may not alienate us from God: “For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.” (Proverbs 1:32). Solomon warns: “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; and one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.” (Proverbs 13:7). This means there is a seeming wealth behind which lies deep spiritual poverty and wretchedness. Yet, there is a poverty that makes a man ripe for the kingdom of God. Take another look at the special programs and outreaches organised in the churches and you will discover the emphasis is not on righteousness or the kingdom of God. Instead, banners, posters, handbills and radio jingles proclaim “Unceasing Showers of Blessing,” “Twenty-four Hour Miracles;” or “Stupendous Breakthroughs.” Hosea dismisses this tendency: “They assemble together for grain and new wine.” (Hosea 7:14) Prosperity preachers mislead Christians. They hold up the candy of their gospel, saying “count the blessings.” But Jesus does the very opposite. He presents the gospel and says “count the cost.” (Luke 14:28-33). Jesus does not promise us a rose garden in this life. Instead he tells his disciples: “In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). Encouraging the wicked God says to Isaiah: “Cry aloud, spare not; lift up your voice like a trumpet; tell my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” (Isaiah 58:1). Prosperity preachers are averse to doing this for fear of alienating their congregation. Therefore, they fool the gullible, saying: “Get ready, get ready, God is about to give you a blessing that there will not be room enough to contain.” Prosperity preachers strengthen the hand of evil-doers by promising them God’s blessings instead of reproving their sins. (Jeremiah 23:14). They give the wrong impression that God is satisfied with Christians, ensuring that we do not repent of sin. Indeed, as a rule, God does not send messages of prosperity. He is not in the habit of sending messages of peace and prosperity to a sinful world. On the contrary, he sends warnings of wars, famines and plagues. (Jeremiah 28:8-9). “Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; they speak a vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of the LORD. They continually say to those who despise me, ‘The LORD has said, ‘You shall have peace;’ and to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say, ‘No evil shall come upon you.’” (Jeremiah 23:16-17). God is contemptuous of prosperity preachers. He says: “All of them, great and small, prophet and priest, have one purpose in mind- to get what isn’t theirs. They give useless medicine for my people’s grievous wounds, for they assure them all is well when that isn’t so at all!” (Jeremiah 8:10-11).
By Femi Aribisala mr op,, you must never kick against prosperity gospel my friend. you could say that it should not be preached as a priority, that is, not the first reason why Christ died.. but never kick against the prosperity gospel because Christ himself doesn't want his children to be poor . |

N34bn licence to provide digital pay television broadcasting services in Nigeria.
The National Broadcasting Commission confirmed this on Wednesday, saying that it approved for MTN Nigeria part of the country’s 700MHz broadcasting spectrum solely for the purpose.
The NBC spoke against the backdrop of allegations that it had sold the spectrum to MTN without recourse to transparency or the Nigerian Communications Commission, the telecommunications industry regulator that is empowered to sell such spectrum through a transparent auction.
The companies, which made the allegations, had insisted that the spectrum in question must be returned to the NCC as the rightful custodian.
The NBC, however, dismissed the allegations, saying it was not a telecoms spectrum, but a broadcasting spectrum.
The Director-General, NBC, Mr. Emeka Mba, said, “I am pleased to inform you that we have successfully licensed MTN Nigeria to use a part of the 700MHz to provide digital pay-TV broadcasting services. We have thus raised N34bn, slightly less than 50 per cent of our budget.
“I am pleased to inform you, also, that through this singular move, Nigeria has once again pointed the way to other African countries struggling with the effort of finding financing for their own digital switchover programmes.
“It may be necessary to clarify that the use of the band, 470 – 862MHz, solely for UHF television broadcasting service on a primary basis in Nigeria predates both the NBC and NCC.
“As a matter of fact, most administrations in the International Telecommunications Union region 1 use the entire 470 – 862 MHz for UHF television broadcasting prior to ITU WRC-2007 conference.”
Mba said that in 2006, the ITU planned the entire 470 – 862MHz frequency band for digital UHF television broadcasting for the region 1, to which the Nigerian administration belonged.
He stated that the planning of the 470 – 862MHz frequency band for digital UHF television was referred to in the ITU circle as GE-06 plan, saying, “And after the signing of the agreements resulting from this plan, it is now referred to as the GE-06 agreement.”
The NBC director-general said the spectrum was sold to enable Nigeria to meet the June 17, 2015 deadline set by the ITU of transiting to digital terrestrial broadcasting.
He said despite that the announcement was in 2006 by ITU, it was not until June 17, 2012 that the White Paper giving direction t
