If Nigerians believed in ethics and morals the country would be better and we wouldn't have to leave the country.

True. It's become almost normal to hear of teenagers doing money rituals in Nigeria. Sad but true.

Please did you use your UCI number only or with COPR to attend the courses?
I have the new UCI but still waiting for my PPR, will I be allowed to attend the courses? I need something to be doing to keep busy

If you are referring to the FPHRC course, you can use your UCI no alone and upload your AOR letter as evidence. That's what I did and I completed the course in August. The lady at the Canada orientation session (IOM) said I didn't need COPR.

Obtaining CPA designation through the MRA is with ACCA not ICAN.

Thanks

Cost of living varies by city. It will be hard to give a general cost.
In Winnipeg, a one bedroom will go for $750-$1200. Groceries for a family of 4, between 400-600.

Hi,
Please I read somewhere, you mentioned your hubby getting CPA through MRA. Please which accounting designation did he have before? ACCA?
I searched on cpamanitoba website for info but got somewhat confused? Hubby currently has ICAN and looking to do ACCA. We are yet to land nut will do in few months..

Thanks

Good morning my country people.
Please I'd like to ask like how long does it take to get an appointment at the US embassy in Lagos for an interview?

Please ensure when u go tell em for citizenship. Lol please relate your experience here too.

lol. Well the thing about stating 'for citizenship' is what if the officer is one serious conservative who hates the idea that foreigners come in to have baby for citizenship? And he denies entry? Remember it's also legal for cbp to deny entry.

I smile when I read people go back and forth about whether American (or British) citizenship is beneficial.

My mum also wanted to have a baby in the UK at some point but my dad opposed not for financial reasons but for reasons best known to him. This was back in the day when Nigeria was indeed great.

Well let's just say years later my siblings still get slightly pissed off when they think about the opportunities they never had cos of my dad's decision.

To each his own. I don't care where people have their babies as long as I'm not the one paying for it. And if you think people spend too much having American babies, remember some Nigerians spend similar amounts on a single handbag. Priorities defer in life. Let people be.

I am the one that mentioned about sweeping the floor but I think you misunderstood me. I meant it should not be burdensome as well. If the person is in pain, just understand with the person. Not turning it into a compulsory job. That I am giving you free accommodation means you must wash all the bathrooms and clean the house everyday. So if the person doesn't do it for a few days does not make the person a bad guest.

If that is what you meant then I agree.

IMO have a back up.plan. if your stay becomes uncomfortable, check out!

However that being said maybe I should mention this in this forum....the way we naija people behave at times na wa...many of us stay with hosts and pretend as if those hosts are not incurring and paying additional bills having you around. just $200 on monthly grocery shopping and give their children $20 tokens once in a while they'll treat you with more respect...they're not hungry and they've been surviving before you came but it's just courtesy.

Now that particular person said she wont host anyone again. She don spoil ground for others.

The truth .

My sister you Don talk am finish. When people say how can one expect pregnant woman to be sweeping floor I am dumbfounded. For someone not on bedrest I see no reason why sweeping with a long broom is problematic.
The fact that we can afford housemaid in naija has spoilt us.
If your host was pregnant wouldn't she sweep?

I stayed with my aunt when i went to have my baby and though I didn't have plenty $$$ I sometimes bought grocery, buy fuel in car and run errands and pick the kids from soccer practice (I had a US driver license). I helped with laundry when i could.

I wasn't asked to do these things I just did as a gesture of appreciation. It was the least I could do seeing I was eating free food and adding to their bills.

Let's be considerate please.

Hi mamas&papas, makin dis enquiry for a friend who is not on nairaland. She got medical visa 3 years ago to deliver her 1st baby. She is preparing for baby no 2 and wants to apply for visa for d said purpose but she told me she collected dis free mothers&infant milk during her 1st time but paid all

Free milk shouldn't hurt her chances of getting a visa. What they are really concerned about is if she registered for medicare isn't which case she wouldn't have paid medical bills. If she paid her hospital and doctor bills with receipt to show for it, she should be good to go.
This time around tell her not to register for freebies meant for residents for her peace of mind.

Congrats on ur POE experience. Pls am flying Ethiopia from Nigeria to Newark, what are the things you can advise me on. Also, was Newark your last destination because am having challenges getting a connecting flight since we land at 7.15pm Newark time. Any information you have will be appreciated. Thanks

Hello! I am also going that route o but the ticket I got will be getting me to my final destination in Virginia. Though it's a 12 hour stopover so I plan to stay in an hotel overnight.

Where is your final destination? If you have trouble finding late flights you might want to spend the night at an inexpensive hotel.

My wife is a US green card holder and she want to travel with my 1yr old son to Nigeria. she already got our son his US passport book so I want to know if she will need to acquire Nigeria visa on his US passport book before he can travel back home with her to visit my parents? I want to know if he can get Nigeria passport on arrival or she must get him Nigeria passport before leaving the states? Great mother in the house who have travel to US for child birth and return home should kindly advice on this questions.

Your son needs either a Nigeria passport or a Nigeria visa on his US passport to enter Nigeria.

Thanks a lot.

My sister we will be paying almost 3 times what we paid then. The good thing is we won't be buying somethings like breast pump, car seat, sterilizer, feeding units, blankets, cot, bouncer, play mat, toys etc.

Sis if it's electric breast pump please endeavour to buy new tubing. I heard it's unhygienic to reuse after a period of time but I stand corrected.

Hey people, want to find out about traveling with food. Are we allowed to carry ogi, iru, crayfish and egusi? Thanks

Stuff like egusi and dried pepper has to be blended to pass through. I don't know if crayfish is allowed if unblended. Also don't know about iru but I know someone who brings it in all the time but she wraps it so well that even a dog can't sniff it o.

I haven't booked a flight with them yet so I can't exactly call them up and reserve one.

Want to know for sake of planning and budget.

@omoba88, try southwest airline. They don't charge for two 23kg boxes. Honestly can't answer the first part of your question.

Is it possible to book southwest from naija? For some reason I'm unable to get on their website. Hope they didn't block Web visit from Nigeria

Hi everyone, please I am curious as to whether including ICAN certification (Professional level) in WES will earn one more points in Express entry. I have read the thread and found conflicting opinions. Anyone who actually did this and it helped?? Thanks
