bisoyeg:After reading this line, I couldn't read further. Utter nonsense! ![]() |
obowunmi:Yez! One of the factors my Nigerian-ness is founded on. Whilst it's one thing to be Nigerian [simply because one is born to Nigerian parents], it's another to be Nigerian [Not only because you're born to Nigerian parents, but you're also acquainted with your culture and people]. You're not lost when in the midst of fellow Nigerians. ''Ness'', ''True'' are perceived as 'strong' suffix and adjective respectively, used to emphasize the REAL state or quality of a thing/person. In this case, Nigerian. When you ask how your Nigerian-ness can be measured or determined, I expect that you understand what your question implies - how can it be determined that you're very familiar with your 'background' and know your roots. obowunmi:I don't want to bring semantics into this but let me state that I wrote ''relate'' not ''communicate'' as, one is not a variant of the other. I deliberately did not use the word ''communicate''. Anyone can communicate with anyone with ease. To communicate with someone with ease and fit into an enviroment with ease are too different things. While one doesn't necessarily require familiarization, the other does. I could arrive in the UK for the first time on Nov. 5th and be able to communicate w/o difficulty with the first 3 Englishmen i meet BUT I would like to believe, as obviously would be the case, I'd be LOST and feel left out if I saw thousands of people in London parks and the smell of gunpowder smoke filled the air while they recite their usual 'bonfire night' rhyme. Even if someone explained to me that it's done in remembrance of Guy Fawkes, It would still be of little importance to me or wouldn't stir up much excitement as, I'm not Briton and therefore not familiar with that rite. I was able to communicate but did I fit in? The concept of ''Nigerian-ness'', I can summarize in one word- patriotism. The true Nigerian is a patriot. This is how I, Missy can measure your Nigerian-ness. You do not have to agree, that's why it's my opinion [which you asked for] ![]() obowunmi:Where one resides is irrelevant. Want to explain this further? obowunmi:This is not science-related, that it should need proof/evidence. ![]() I'm sorry, I didn't think comprehension would be a problem. . . . It's your fault, not mine. I can only give you an opinion, not an understanding. ![]() |
You do not have a problem and there's nothing wrong with your post. Interest is the keyword. Are you interested in learning about the Nigerian culture or want to give it a whirl, even though there's very little or no interest? Do! Most of the things you need to know, you'd find on NL. Plus, Google is your friend. You're not interested and do not want to try? Why bother! Peace! by tommorrow when this thread goes into about 500 pages of nonsense, you will forever loose any feeling of being Nigerian and run away from anything Nigerian,Rotfl!!! This is possible! ![]() |
Gorimapa chest jare. Can't remember the last time I heard the word ''Gorimapa''. I hate too much hair on any body part, except on the head. |
Oh! You're talking about the taste? I use it to fry chicken and it doesn't taste bad, neither do I notice any difference. Maybe you should try and see. If you like it, continue . . .If not, don't. |
I do. You too can, if you want. I'm unaware of any negative effect it could have. |
It's a myth. It's not yet been proven true. |
I use it for both- Frying and Cooking. |

Are they what she wants? What are their motives for coming around? Going to Naija or having men approach one doesn't even guarantee one a ring. Odunnu:False! What is/are your reason(s)? |

As for marriage, it’s every woman’s dream to get married. We can’t lie to ourselves. I do want to get married but overtime I have had opportunities to get married but I realise getting married is not actually the problem. Are you in a relationship? What should your ideal man look like?Classic!!! What has been your most challenging role in a movie?Nice movie! |
The Interview What has been your most challenging role in a movie? (Exhales) All of them come with their different challenges. But I would say playing the role of a blind girl in Wind of Glory was extremely challenging and I still consider it one of my favourite movies. Do you have plans of going into producing or directing movies? Yes obviously, I do. Have you ever had any surgical beauty enhancements? No. Not yet. What does love mean to you? Love, (exhales) well, what is love? (laughs,) love for me is when you derive joy in giving not in receiving. When you are happy loving someone and doing things for that person without asking anything in return, that is love, genuine love. Are you in a relationship? In God we trust. Any plans for marriage? As for marriage, it’s every woman’s dream to get married. We can’t lie to ourselves. I do want to get married but overtime I have had opportunities to get married but I realise getting married is not actually the problem. The problem is finding someone you are compatible with because I’m born Catholic, I’m raised Catholic, I don’t believe in divorce. If I get married, I really want to stay married and staying married is not an easy thing. It means you are completely in tune with your partner. It means you’ve found your soul mate because you’ll have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments that would definitely come but then again you have to learn to forgive. For me, before I choose a partner I have to ask myself if this is the kind of person I would be willing to forgive no matter what when the time comes. If the answer is no, then that person is wrong for me. That person is not the person you want to get married to. If you know you can look into someone’s eyes and say yes, this is the most you can do to me. if you actually cheat on me the first time, I can find it in my heart to forgive you. If you can answer that question honestly and truthfully to yourself then you’ll know if that person is your partner or not. So compatibility is the word aside from the physical attributes that have to go with it. I need to be comfortable because I’m a woman and I’m used to a certain lifestyle. What should your ideal man look like? My dear, let’s not go there, I don’t want to chase market (laughs). Any word for your fans To all of you, for whatever reason you love me, I want you to know I appreciate it. I would not be where I am today without you obviously and as much as I come first in everything I do, I always consider you because you are a part of the decisions I make in my life. |
More important things should puzzle you, not His gender which is trivial. Why do we refer to Countries, boats etcetera as ''She''? Does it mean they have boobs and whatsitsname ? Whoever bothers about a thing as insignificant as that? |
I do not have a knack for arguing about the existence of God and/or his relevance to the universe. I seldom post on such threads but . . . . Just to indulge you . . . oolu:Christians know that God created the world and didn't abandon it, afterwards oolu:It would be so, only if we established that God actually abandoned the Universe. i.e I have to agree with the premise before the conclusion. No? oolu:I'm a Christian. God created the Universe and everything in it. He didn't/hasn't abandoned it . . . He's still very much in control. Source? The Bible. Do you have any source to back up your belief? ![]() |
oolu:God is redundant? Want to expatiate on that, please? NubianQ and Fstranger, Give it a rest! |
ragdollz:Yeah, right! You must think I love them to death. ![]() Throw 'em away, please! Everything is wrong with the shoes. |
I think is more of a burden to believe there is no God than to believe there is truly a God. Any rational thinker won't say the former. Unless those who like to hide under the theories and hypothesis of some people who think believing such would place a limit on them in their various fields. To them, is much of a ego thing. To believe or not believe in God is what you need to discover yourself. Forget about the "big bang" idea. Forget about darwins thought about who you are,or how you came about- evolution. These are just the thought of some people. Discover this fact yourself. If this world self-created itself by chance,i tell you, we'll have to live our lives and every other things by chance. The universe, the complexity of creation is just too perfectly complementing that we cannot let "chance" take the credit. I'll rather say i created the universe, instead of given the credit to "chance". Only losers wages all on chances aka uncertainties!
https://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/6.gif |
