Well, my friends, the time has come
To raise the roof and have some fun
Throw away the work to be done
Let the music play on
(Play on, play on)
Everbody sing, everybody dance
Lose yourself in wild romance
We're going to party
Karamu, fiesta, forever
Come on and sing along!
We're going to party
Karamu, fiesta, forever
Come onand sing along!
We're going to party
Karamu, fiesta, forever
Come on and sing along!
All night long! (all night)
All night long! (all night)
All night long! (all night)
People dancing all in the street
See the rhythm all in their feet
Life is good wild and sweet
Let the music play on

Feel it in your heart
And feel it in your soul
Let the music take control
We're going to party
Liming, fiesta, forever
Come on and sing my song!
All night long! (all night)
All night long! (all night)
All night long! (all night)
All night long! (all night)
Yeah, once you get started
You can't sit down
Come join the fun
It's a merry go round
Everyone's dancing
Their troubles away
Come join our party
See how we play!

You do not need to be informed of the gravity of wahala you'd be calling for, if you told madam, without mincing words, ''This food is tasteless''.
In order to avoid trouble or to be courteous, how would you say ''this food nor sweet'' , politely?
Ladies, how would you like to be told?

badmus77:
There r good reasons for employing house help, If my wife can't cook the sort of meals I love, well, house help is allowed or about if I marry one hard working lady n always home btw 8-9pm, I dnt think is a good idea to wait for her to come bk to do the cooking, as for us men, we need to learn how to cook as well, women love their kitchen n always happy to cook their men meals, all they needed from us is a lil bit of help.
Gbam!!!

My husband and I do the cooking. I have never had anyone come in to cook but I have paid someone to cook intheir home and deliver it. I don't care really. The only thing I cannot stand is people who come to my house and expect to get fed or ask "wetin you cook" or some nonsense like that. My advice is eat in your house before you come. Mannerless people
Oh yeah? You must have known the person for a long time and very well. I'm very wary of who goes into my kitchen, but there's a greater chance that I'll let you into my kitchen than have you cook in your home, in my absence, and deliver it.

Lol @ ''Wettin you cook?'' It's usually close friends and relatives that do this, so I really do not have a problem with it.

Not a bad idea. Does this also apply to the days there will be a football match and/or the days you both get back from work late, and are very tired?

pslm23:
I agree with you. Whenever I visit Nigeria, i look forward to the times I will kneel before my grandma and have her place her hand on my head and bless me in the name of our Lord. When my mom was alive, even when we are speaking on the phone, she will always end our conversations by heaping blessings on me.  Everybody has their own opinion and beliefs about whether curses and blessings are for real, I believe that they are. Does this mean that when i have kids i will curse them if they piss me off, No. rather I will pray fro them. But back in those days (the days of my great grand-parents) curses were rampant and people believed in it.
A mother says to a wayward child that has exasperated her to boiling point "your children will do it to you" Is that a curse  or a warning?
I think the effectiveness of a curse depends on the frame of mind of the curser.
The 'E nor go better for you' I tell a friend during one of our usual banters is/should be quite different from the 'E nor go better for whoever is against my progress' I say as 'prayer'.

Call it curse, call it karma, call it nature or whatever, but the principle is the same; You do not act wickedly against others and go scot-free.
Even if they do not use evil words on you, you will eventually get your pay.
What you sow, you reap. . . . What goes around, comes around et cetera are all axioms that support and affirm this principle.
You may not get it in the same way or denomination dished out, but you surely will be compensated.

Of course, some unknown individual cannot sit somewhere, curse me and expect it to work without my permission, but when one makes a hobby out of beating and slighting one's parents, woe betide that soul.

Nothing gladdens my heart more than the weekends my mum wakes me up with a kiss and words of blessing, or when she tiptoes into my room while asleep, lays a hand on my forehead and whispers some prayers, or when we kneel to pray together and she blesses me and my brother. Nothing gladens the heart more than that.  kiss
I bless myself, my biological mother does the same, God witnesses this and gives his consent. . . Who fit curse me?!

The rule is quite simple- Children, obey your parents so that . . . . Your days may be long, it may be well with you, ''You may be obeyed, you may prosper, etc''.
FoodRe: Everything Pasta by MissyB3(mod): 11:33am On Nov 03, 2011
Ingredients
Salt
4 plum tomatoes
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 whole dried chili pepper
1 garlic clove, gently smashed and peeled
3/4 pound cockles, scrubbed well
3/4 pound mussels, scrubbed well and beards removed if attached
8 small littleneck clams, scrubbed well
1/2 pound whole red mullet, cleaned and filleted
5 fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
1/2 pound spaghetti
1/2 pound cleaned squid, bodies cut into 1/2-inch rings
4 large shrimp, unpeeled

Instructions
Heat oven to 475°. Put 4 large sheets of aluminum foil on a clean work surface. Form an edge, about 1 1/2 inches high, on all sides of foil sheets.

Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Drop tomatoes into water and boil 30 seconds. Using a slotted spoon, remove tomatoes from water; reserve water. Peel, seed and roughly chop tomatoes.

Heat oil in a large wide saucepan over medium-high heat. Add chili and garlic; cook for 1 minute. Add cockles, mussels, clams and mullet; cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, basil and parsley; cook for 5 minutes more. Remove pan from heat; remove and discard chili pepper, garlic and basil leaves.

Return water to boil, add spaghetti and cook just until very al dente. Reserving 2 tablespoons cooking liquid, drain pasta. Immediately add pasta, cooking liquid, squid and shrimp to pan with fish, stir together and cook over medium-high heat for 1 minute. Divide pasta and sauce among foil sheets; fold foil over pasta, crimping edges to make four sealed pouches. Place pouches on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes. Transfer pouches to plates and open at the table.

FoodRe: The Official Nairaland Kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by MissyB3(mod): 1:25pm On Nov 02, 2011
Ingredients
•Rice
•Vegetable Oil
•Chicken (whole chicken or chicken drumsticks)
•Cow Liver
•Plain Yellow Curry Powder –
•Green Beans/peas (a handful)
Carrots
Green pepper
•Salt (to taste)
•Onions -
•Seasoning – Maggi/Knorr cubes & Thyme

Before you cook the Fried Rice

Wash all the vegetables to be used in cooking the fried rice. Cut the carrots into tiny cubes. Cut the green beans into small pieces. Cut 1 bulb of onion. Set all these aside. Cook the liver/gizzard till done and cut into tiny pieces.

Cook the whole chicken with thyme and 1 or bulb of chopped onions, cubes of Maggi / Knorr seasoning and a small amount of salt. Cook till tender. You can later fry the chicken, or do with it as you please.

Cooking Directions
Wash rice with warm water and boil till it's half done [done enough to eat, but not soggy] with maggi, salt, curry and the chicken broth.
Do not pour all the broth at once, add gradually, and only if the water in the rice seem to dry up and rice isn't done.

When rice is almost done, reduce heat to make sure it doesn't get burnt, and water dries up slowly.

Now, transfer the rice to a casserole dish or another pot to help cool it down quickly. This is optional, it helps to keep the grains from sticking to each other. If left in the original hot pot, the rice might continue to cook and eventually stick together.

Set heat to medium low. Now pour a small but  sufficient amount [depends on the quantity of your rice] of vegetable oil into a large pot.
When the oil is hot, add diced onions and stir for 10 seconds, followed by diced carrot. Allow the carrot fry for about 3-4 minutes, and then add your green peas/beans, green pepper and liver/gizzard.

Add more salt if necessary. More curry powder may also be added at this stage if you need to touch up on the colour. Stir till all the ingredients have mixed well and allow to fry for about 5 minutes.

Now, gradually add a portion of your rice and mix thorougly. Add another portion and mix thorougly. Repeat process till you finally have all the rice tranferred to the other pot. Reduce heat to low and leave for 2 minutes.

Turn off heat and serve.

You may fry the already boiled chicken and serve with rice.

Here's a pic of some of my sliced veggies. . . . .I forgot to take a pic of the rice.  cheesy cheesy
