Good day all, my wife and daughter F2 visa delayed at Abuja this morning majorly because I stated during my own interview they were not coming with me which was true at the time.
Please any helpful advice? And when is the next available date in Abuja? I am so devastated right now.

How does an I-20 show that Graduate assistantship can support dependents?
Anyways... I will genuinely advise you to show proof of fund if asked (bank statement). not I-20!!!
Cheers!

Thanks for your advise, the I-20 shows a breakdown of fees, living expenses and cost of caring for dependents, but also shows teaching assistantship earnings that covers full amount stipulated.

Good day, please in applying for F2 visa for dependents, if the I-20 shows assistantship can support dependents, do my dependents still need to show my bank statements at the visa interview?

I'm presently on 4.25 after dropping from 4.57 to 4.28 and then to 4.25. I relented due to some issues. Because, I had several options before me so I started losing interest in my course.

Now, my question is, can I still make a first class degree having spent 3 semesters out of 10.

Very Possible. You need to identify and deal with the issues. Aim to be the best you can be, do not limit yourself to a first class (which is just 4.5 out of 5.0). Also do not just go through school, also acquire diverse skillets and all round development, and acheiving these with a 'first class first class' is very possible.

No matter how discouraged you are, know that nothing is worth your life. Look not at what others have achieved, but focus on how you can keep improving yourself. You may or may not get the admission, no matter what keep pushing to achieve your goals. I know the pain of failure, but have learned to always keep pushing. Do not despair, success will come if you don't give up.

Use KeepCalling. It'an app, and an intuitive one at that. I use it and I've had no reason to consider an alternative. Lower rates too (7.9 cents I believe)
Thanks....will check out the app.

How much is that plan? You can try Lycamobile $29/month with 100 mins to Nigeria, or the $19 plan then you can probably use boss revolution to call Nigeria on that with about 9 cents/ min.
Thanks....the plan is for 35/month....problem I have using Lycamobile is they only have 4g and 2g (no 3g) coverage at my location, and my current phone does not support 4g. Will checkout the boss revolution. ...Thanks.

Good day all, please what is the most economical way to call folks back home in Nigeria from the US, my straight talk plan on AT&T does not have Nigeria on the list of International destinations I can call, and the folks in question are not the whatsapp generation ooo, so the call must terminate on their cell phone number.....Thanks.

Wifey has asked to pack foods and I declined. Now I have learned a bit from your experience.

All the best.
Please do, just make sure you declare them with their value. Also my bag of foodstuff lock was broken and checked by security, with a note dropped that it was randomly selected for check. So I am guessing it should not be locked.

Point of Entry Experience at Denver International Airport on 2nd August (on an F1 Visa). I was a bit scared due to the fact I had not secured an apartment before my flight and wifey insisted on me packing some foodstuff. Declared everything on the form issued, and proceeded to the interview. CPB scrutinized my documents, remarked that I came very prepared with a full kitchen, I replied with a smile that my wife made sure of that. Stamped me in after a little chit chat about when last I was in Lagos.
Thanks to this great family for all the help.....

For those traveling soon, please arrange to eat at your stopovers, I almost died of hunger on the 10hrs Lufhtensa flight from Frankfurt to Denver, meals were great, from how the other passengers were enjoying it. But for me that have been over spoilt with our Nigerian Delicacies, the instant transition to a piece of chicken in a greenish soup was just too much.

Good Evening all, please I need some advice. Will an F1 visa holder be required to show where he will be permanently residing at POE? I plan to book a place (hotel or inn or airbnb) for just one week, and then sort out my apartment after arrival. Hope this will not be a red flag as I filled university campus on my DS-160, but had to change to an off campus residence.

One from each state ? I rather stay where I am then.
Flight tickets are crazily expensive now.....but what if you are the only one invited for the phd interview in your state? A friend of mine took the risk of flying down last year and got the scholarship. A tough decision I must say.

Its sad that your friend wasted about $1000. Your friend is probably 29 and above, that's why he/she had to pay $300 P.S.. To the incoming students:: you don't need to take a quote to your school first, on the insurance website, you can check the plan that your school will accept, most schools are listed on the website with the plan that is acceptable to each school. If you are below 27 or so, you might not pay more than $200 and $300 for fall and spring respectively. The price goes up with age, still at that, its far better that the exorbitant fee your school will charge.By the way if you don't know what to use money for..I am a pm away. Lastly, fill your immunization form before you leave Nigeria and ask questions, no excuse for ignorance.
On the immunization form, I just recently got vaccinated and collected my yellow card, but only two vaccines where administered and entered in the form, csm and opv. What others are necessary? Also can anyone help us with a list of necessary documents to obtain and come along with aside school certificates and academic transcripts, someone made a very educative post on this a while ago, but I just cant seem to find it. Thanks.

Good day house. Congratulations to everyone who has got their visa approved recently. I have these suggestions and questions:

2. As it's been said many times, one needs to prepare for the expensive initial living and administrative cost. Checking up the cost of a pair of jeans (N15.000 on conversion), I had to resort to buying as many wears, foodstuffs, toiletries (lol), even pen and notebooks before the day of flight. I'd advise everyone takes time to attend to these issues early while we're here. It's like a stitch in time...
Great suggestion. Please more of such advice, particularly for first time travelers like some of us will be greatly welcome. Unfortunately the life in US As a Student thread, where I think such would be addressed is no longer active.

No, after almost a week, they claimed a break down of alliance between Turkish Airline and United Airline for the entire flight. They refunded me, but the entire process delayed my plans, resulting in further hike in fares.

Fact check:

In as much you're trying to make a point, try get the fact right.

At this point in time, the highest success on this thread was recorded between May 2016 - Aug 2016, which is Part 9.
That statement was not meant to claim more success presently, but to convey a desire to achieve more..... smiley
