To the best of my knowledge, sadly no. Intl passport is the only acceptable means of identification for Nigerians.

Hello Mitocyan, please i also want to register in benin city but i don't know any centre here, kindly assist.

You can register online with one of two organizations, namely British Council (https://ieltsregistration.britishcouncil.org/)
Or IDP/MOD (ielts.ng) you will find list of centers available there including centers in Benin city and you can make your choice.

I didn't get my CBT result after 12 days until I booked an appointment and went to the BC office. I waited a few hours and my hard copy was in my hands.

My portal still showed "awaiting results" a week later. (:
Wow. Thanks for this info. Will try that also. Only that no BC office in Benin City. Did they say what the cause was though? It’s very unprofessional of them.

Same here. It is very disturbing. CBT wrote it in Benin city. Have called them numerous times but all I’ve been getting are failed promises. Don’t even know what to do right now.

How much do you know about the bible? How you taken the time to find out facts about the bible before being critical of it or just following some trends just because it suits your disposition?

How much do you know about Hindu religion text, how much do you know about other religions' texts??
Have you taken out time to find out facts about these religious texts or the other over 3000 religions known to man for that matter??
I can bet you just said to yourself, "why should I take them seriously because they are not compelling at the very least". Yes that's the same way I feel about the bible and NO, you cannot use excerpts from the bible to prove to me why I should take the bible seriously. They call that arguing in circles.

Oh wait, you expect me to take a book
(written before human knew how to harness the power of heat energy to drive mechanical engines) that says God, inorder for him to stop humans from erecting a tower to the heavens caused a language confusion amongst them now that we have planes, jets and even rockets that can go more than 10 times the altitude of the highest clouds without being stopped by that same God seriously??

How are those stories different from the various fables we were told from African folk lore, just how??
Or do you want me to continue with other ridiculous tales from the bible before you can see that I have read the bible before??

My dear, you don't have to doubt God's existence.
He cares for us all.
Regardless of whatever happens, He would ever remain faithful and loving.
And you say this because someone(or the bible) says so right. Please think again.

My friend you asked a very valid question. The problem is with the way the so called pastors interpret the bible. The almighty God our creator never in anywhere in the bible guarantee his worshipers good health and material prosperity etc. The guarantee that God gave his worshippers is spiritual protection. That is why the same sicknesses and unfortunate events that befall bad people also befalls good people. There are many classical examples in the bible that demonstrates that. Unfortunately, the churches are making everyone believe otherwise with prosperity gospels and all that.
Imagine someone who calls himself a "man of God" saying that it is the will of God for someone to suffer the terrible pain and agony of a cancerous disease for two years before letting them die, what a cruel way to portray a God whom the bible tells us that He is the epitome of love. I don't think the most wicked person on earth will be that heartless. At the end they obscure the falsehood of their teachings with one of their favourite phrase. "You can't question God". Again that is wrong, faithful ones in the bible questioned God, and there is no indication in the bible that God was offended neither did he condemn them for questioning Him. The true God is not a tyrant.
Read Job 21:7, Habakkuk 1:13, Matthew 27:46.
God has clearly shown us in the bible that he will solve all of mankind's problems by means of his Kingdom. True worshippers look forward to the time when that kingdom will reign on earth, Dan. 2:44. Before that time true worshippers knows that they will face the ill effects of living in the last days of this system of things like everyone else, another guarantee that God gave is that he will give His worshippers the strength they need to endure whatever difficulties they might face to help them remain faithful to Him, by means of His holy spirit. 1Cor.10:13. This is the truth contained in God's word.

You sound like a Jehovah's witness to me or at least someone that has been exposed to their teachings/school of thought. Not necessarily so though, but we can agree you share the same school of thought and pattern with them. I need to point out that what they fail to point out is why we should belive the bible. No concrete evidence. Just delusion that their founders felt belief in the bible was in vogue as at then and sought for ways to do it right, commendable but still not helpful. There is absolutely no reason to take the bible seriously, in the same way I will not take anyone that makes an outlandish claim to me today without substantial proof. Good try but no. For the skeptics, don't burden yourself with the logicality of attacking "Christian" ideas just go straight to the source: the Bible and let the propagators know that there is no concrete evidence to take the bible seriously and you see the system of Christian logic fall like a pack of cards.

Had a similar long argument with a lady last week on the logicality of religion they always first come out with arguments about how their religion is logical until those "logic" are outclassed by pure logic and they end up with, "I'm in this religion because of my spirituality, its not something you can understand" the hogwash that you can expect from a cornered person. Smh.

This change you are talking about has been explained in the bible. But many people like u won't want to accept it even when people show u.
You see, when u understand Hod perfectly, nothing will change you faith in him.
God is not performing many of those miracles in the way he did those days again. It's there in the bible.
Besides, a vain generation ask for sign....the paramount sign that we have now and that should suffice, is the irrefutable fact that Jesus was here, lived for others, preached about God and his loving project for mankind, was killed but rose again the third day. Because he rose, we too will rise. And no matter the injustice and misfortune we suffer here it will be forgotten in the new Jerusalem that God will bring about. Then it will be like the bible stated, as though we were dreaming...this earthly trouble and sorrow we be like it were a dream.
"Besides a vain generation ask for sign[s]". Haq haq haq. Looks more to me like what a conered scammer will say to cover his tracks. Any outlandish claim that has no proof must be done away with in this 21st century it is not taking humanity anywhere.

God is real, his works were real too. Jesus, the Apostles and early Christians made manifest the works of God and people could see, which made many followed Christ and believed his words-. because they saw it real. But Today, you hardly see nothing. What we see is more money less faith, more science less spirituality, more prayers less answers, more preachings less salvation. Maybe when we die, we will all know what to believe.

Skeptical mind you are on the right path. Just to help you set your records straight, the fact that a claim was made ages ago does not make it more real than if it were made now. Save yourself from the confusion. A claim made ages ago requires the same proof as if that claim was made now. Going by how outlandish the claims attributed to Jesus and the apostles are, they were obviously made out of delusion and or deceit. There is absolutely no point burdening your self with them.

The idea of Christianity is being perpetuated today by those who have not taken time to think about it and see how inconsistent with reality it is, by good intentioned (but clouded with delusion) people, or by pastorpreneurs using it for their personal gain.

I Believe GOD with all my Life
I Believe His Word with All of My Life.
I Act on HIS Word with all Confidence!
It works as Real as it is with Ease.

You need a Switch bro!
Christianity is not in Mouth!
Christianity is Believing and Trusting in GOD and HIS Word just as you see it.
"God [of Christainity] is as real as real" because someone told you so? Have you ever stopped to think that the Bible(and by extension Christianity) was made up because of what some people in the past came up with out of ignorance or deceit. I bet you if someone comes out of nowhere today to make the outlandish claims of miracles and other extraordinary claims made in the bible you'll first ask for proof and not belive him/her. So spare me the talks of Christianity been real. For the records I'm not religious.

"His word is as real as you see it", "Trust", "Unquestionable" looks more to me like what a scammer will say.

gimakon:
A quick question I want to ask and know hearts of peeps.

I have a badass programmer pal. Full stack engineer. Recently did a job for someone, and made some real good cash. Like up to $120,000. The money came from building software for 3 microfinance banks in the country.
He earns over 450,000 Naira as salary here in Nigeria as well. We got talking yesterday and he's telling me he cannot stay in Nigeria, that he's resigning immediately after lock down for airports are over.

His argument is 450,000 Nigerian Naira equals
1,162.97 United States Dollar, wheras in the US / Canada for instance, the salary is way higher.

Question is what do you think ?

If I was this good, i will leave at the slightest opportunity. Because as a programmer over there, your money increases with your increase in experience and skills and you can easily switch between companies for higher pay.

While I understand those that come with tax and living expenses argument over there, they should also be aware that there are some programmers that earn as high as $300k per annum. So even after they pay tax and rent, they still have a lot left as savings and can keep on investing.

Now look at naira devaluation. 6million per annum was about $40k about 6 years ago, today at the black market rate of 450, it is about $13k. Don't forget that the cost of cars, phones and some other things we buy increases with the rise in dollar, so the argument that, "are you not spending naira here" is not a solid one.

Family / Re: Do I Build A Small House Now Or Keep Saving? by Mitocyan: 4:45am On May 02, 2020
covid2019:
I am in a dilemma worsened by this covid19.

I am a graduate male of 29 residing in the East. I still squat with a friend, not because I don't have money for house rent. But principally because I have been unable to figure out what I want to do with my life, hence renting a house feels like a commitment that might get me stuck.

I always feel I might move anytime soon-- to either another state or abroad for masters or just practice of my profession. Note that I didn't study a STEM course.

All these while squatting, I have been saving via my proceeds from hustles.

In the wake of this COVID19, I checked all my banks and found out that money I have in my account has lost so much value given the dollar rate.

I have 11.4 million, inclusive of my working capital, plus a rickety car valued at 350k. Each time, I need just 3-5m as working capital.

It seems that trying to save more is false economy and might be counter productive.

NOW, I AM CONSIDERING buying a plot of land and erecting a small house even if it's 3 rooms. This, I think will serve as investment that will keep appreciating and also serve as residence.

Or just open a domiciliary account to hedge against naira fall and continue saving.
What do you think please?

If you want to buy the house as a long term plan(say 10 years) for the sole purpose of investment and not to live in, I'll encourage you to have a rethink especially if that is where you want to pour all your money due to the volatility of the naira. Investing in real estate is always good but I'm of the opinion that it shouldn't be 100% of your portfolio. You should find ways in which you can make dollar investments even if it is 10% per annum.

Believe that this manshion is worth $100m at your peril. Drake's networth is $150m. Max that this manshion can cost is $10m

Macsjebs:
The Toronto home of mega recording artist Aubrey Drake Graham is something else altogether.

Measuring 50,000 square feet, with amenities such as an NBA regulation-size indoor basketball court crowned by a 21-square-foot pyramidal skylight,

Drake’s astonishing domicile certainly qualifies as extravagant. But instead of vast expanses of cheap drywall and mountains of ungainly furniture upholstered with a hot glue gun, stately Drake Manor, as envisioned by Canadian architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli, is a marvel of old-world craftsmanship, constructed of limestone, bronze, exotic woods, and other noble materials.

Every detail of the sprawling property has been meticulously conceived and executed. And there isn’t a Scarface poster in sight.

If you want something serious with her, NEVER EVER asked her on the phone.

Keep the conversation going, get to know her more via chat, phone calls etc.

KEEP THE CONVERSATION INTERESTING AND GOING.

Use this opportunity to ask some serious questions about her bla bla bla.

By the time she is back depending on your conversation she would already understand the direction you are heading.

Lool depends on how soon you guys can meet. I have a friend that once went this route. It took him about 3 months to meet the girl in person and within that 3 months space another person had asked the girl out and she had agreed. When they later got to meet she said he should have made his intentions known over the phone within that period. I also have another friend that asked a girl out over the phone and she agreed before they met in person.

Above all, your suggestion is cool if they can meet in person soon enough.

yeah, it is a possibility that lots of common men on the streets could already be carrying the virus but they can't know because none of the few centers available for testing would test a common man that has not started showing symptoms, has not had contact with a known positive in the last few days or does not have a travel history to high-risk countries in the last few days.

GTs do not argue about the salary you are seeing. I heard of someone who got a job of 50k, left the job, and company changed salary to 250k later. Be wise! you don't know if NNPC is testing whether you came for money or came to work...Just start working, and you may see that the money may probably be increased greatly.
I'm not disputing this about nnpc cos it's a common knowledge that they do allowances. But this mentality of "maybe they are testing me" should be discouraged when you are negotiating salary with a normal naija firm because you will likely end up short changing yourself.

OgidiOlu3:

Now, IT is a very large field. Good old programming is still the heart of it. I recently introduced two female friends to programming.
One now does data analytics with Python, and the other just started web development. None of them studied Computer Science in school.

So, let's start:

1. Programming: This is quite easy, honestly. Most people find it difficult because they read or watch difficult tutorials. Learn a language and start building little projects. You don't need to learn all the programming languages in the world. Only learn the one you need for any particular job.

a.) Node.js: You can start with this. It is open-source (meaning it is not proprietary and it is free) and it is in demand. There are materials everywhere to learn this. My best however is a tutorial from Angela Yu She's funny and her tutorial will teach you from an absolute beginner to a web developer.
You will learn frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, BootStrap, JavaScript to backend tech like Node.js, REST API, SQL and NoSQL. Don't fear, they are all simple especially when you watch her videos.

Her course link on Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-web-development-bootcamp/
Her course link for free download: https://tutsgalaxy.net/the-complete-2020-web-development-bootcamp/

The file is large though.

b.) C#: This is also a very good language and it is in demand. It is Microsoft's technology and it is robust and very useful for enterprise applications.
When it comes to C# and the .NET Framework, your best bet is Kudvenkat on YouTube. He has a lot of very good and easy to understand tutorials.

His channel link: https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat

c.) Python: This is a very easy and very versatile language. It can be used for web development, data analytics, and even AI and Machine Learning. Its downside is just the speed when compared to C# for example. It's also very much in demand.

Edureka and FreeCodeCamp have some of the best free tutorials on almost all IT fields.
Edureka: https://www.youtube.com/user/edurekaIN
FreeCodeCamp: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8butISFwT-Wl7EV0hUK0BQ

https://www.freecodecamp.org/ is also a very interactive website that teaches you software/web development from start to finish.

There are a lot of other interesting languages to learn. Just do your research and see the one you would like.

My pick for this part is Angela Yu's course. It is actually very interesting smiley

2. Cloud Computing: In the past, when we build apps, we deploy them to physical servers or use some hosting platforms like GoDaddy and co.
Now, we have cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform. For a beginner, you might just check for some tutorials on Youtube to help you start. You can even get a free 30-day subscription on Azure to test and learn with.
After that, you can apply for jobs as a Cloud engineer or a support engineer. One of the few companies that employ a lot of support engineers in Nigeria is Tek Experts: https://www.tek-experts.com/en-us/tek-experts-nigeria-jobs-in-lagos

The good thing about Tek-Experts is that they take you irrespective of your background and experience as long as you can pass their test and interviews. You will LEARN A LOT, especially about Microsoft technologies. They will expose you to the world of IT. The downside, however, is the pay. The pay is meagre but as a beginner, you can't really complain. Just gain experience and move on.

When you learn any programming skill, you can then start applying for internships. Promotion in the IT world is largely dependent on how good you are. It can be very fast honestly. You can also apply for some Junior Developer roles.

Some remote companies also employ junior devs.
Use these links below to find remote jobs. Some of them only employ from the US while others employ from anywhere so take note of the location on the vacancies. These links are not only for IT jobs, so please check if there is any one you can do there.

https://weworkremotely.com/
https://remoteglobal.com/
https://remotive.io/
https://remote.co/remote-jobs/

Hand don dey pain me and I dey work. I might come back to update later.
Lool another person that agrees with me about the awesomeness of Angela Yu's tutorial from appbrewery.co please y'all should check it out. OgidiOlu3, you are a great guy!

I neither have a tutor nor coach, it was self taught.
By God's grace I was able to convinced the panel, how safety related issues could be tackled in the organization using my risk assessment sheet that is yet to be developed..

I am a chronic stammerer, but I still got the APL.

I'm back again lol, albeit I said my previous post, go be my last post on this thread. I read some people's story here, and I feel like dropping mine too. It can only get better.

I graduated from high school in 2006(16 years old). I end staying at home for 5 years, before I gained university admission in 2011, we resumed in Jan 2012.(five months to 22nd birthday)

Can you believe I didn't learn a single skill throughout my 5 years at home. I didn't complete the computer training i enrolled for, na later I learn am lol.

I just dey hustle, i teached in a primary school for about two half years, I resigned and enter the street, with my some friends, we dey engage in some very hard sunny jobs, but the pay was good then, na so I waste my 5 years lol....

College wasn't too smooth, thanks to strike; Internal(ALUTA, my OAU folks can relate and external(ASUU). i graduated from college early 2016.(26 years old).

Unfortunately, I wasn't mobilized for NYSC that year, I had to wait for another year, it was so painful, cos age no dey my side. well this time I use am wella, to cut the long story short I finished nysc 2018(28years old).

As a street boy, I don calculate say job no be for everyone, me included so I step up my hustle and diversify. I lock up, no CV, my pali(certificate) just dey rest somewhere in my wardrobe...

So February last year, NNPC came, I calculated the age, fortunately for me I scaped through, so I decided to try.

I registered and I was shortlisted. i wrote the CBT and was invited for interview, I never saw that coming though, no be say I dull oh, but me interview lol.

The only thing wey pain me be say, the stress wey i went through, before dem give me my NECO certificate, cos e dey part of the documents wey dem request for. dos guys wey dey neco office stressed my life.

My dad followed me sef, i told him to chill say I go handle ma but he won't listen, don't mind himna so e be. I remember sometimes in 2008 wey we go Minna( Niger State) from Abeokuta (Ogun State), wey i go write Jamb, late registration issh, I no con gain admission with the jamb las las.

I left Abeokuta late that day wey i collect my neco certificate. I left around 6PM, I dey go ile-Ife. Dad told me to sleep over and go the next day, I was like I don overstay sef. I've got things to do and time no dey, na wetin make me miss oga Jarus interview be that.

I risked my life that night it wasn't funny. I had a flat tyre at Gbongan(Lagos/Ibadan expressway, around 10:30PM). Chai, my spirit almost left my body when I heard the sound, cos that place dey hot gan that time last year, robbery, kidnapping dey happen frequently.

I sha manage drive pass the thick bush, fortunately there was a fuel station nearby, dem never close, I met a road side vulcanizer, he was about leaving, I begged him to help that my journey still far, I tell am say I still dey go Ekiti lol.

i had experienced again around OUI roundabout(around 11PM), i heard another sound but not loud sha, damn another flat tyre and no more extras.

I was like damn mehn, am I gonna survive this night, to God be the glory here I am today, on top all the stress, dem no gimee job lol. I don get am for mind before say na 50/50.

I will be 30 by June, officially I can't get (GT)job in Nigeria, like I'm looking for one sef lol. na so I jejely went back to my plans, wey I don dey work on, along side waiting for nnpc.

Anytime wey i remember how the journey go be, I just dey shit for pants lol. I was hoping nnpc go safe me lol. now

The thought that, I'm gonna leave my fiancé in nigeria, and I go comot for two cold years, no dey go down well at all, no be say I like book like that but I gat no choice. Man must survive!!!!

My advice to us, be say make we no give up, and don't settle for less. You can do it if you believe, and you work towards it. it's not gonna be easy, it's gonna be hard, its gonna be very hard. You may fall into depression, you'd wanna give up, but eventually everything go fall in place. that's life....

if age no dey your side, abeg dey plan to comot the country, even if na South africa, some of their schools dey top 200(UCT) in the world.

Don't get stuck in naija, don't be a grupo lol, don't be that nigga wey dey always complain, complains like "if Eve no chop that Apple, I no go dey suffer today lol". Go and learn new ways to make money.

Lastly, don't join Amotekun!!! jk lol

We gonna be ok las las, remember say in life everybody get time wey dem go reach their destination.

Be strong!!!! always remember you're not doing this for yourself alone, you're also doing it for your unborn children, you're also doing it for the culture lol.

bobowaja, iyajelili and mitocyan, i go reach out to you guys soon. I've been extra busy since friday, I go settle down soon, I go reach out.

Jetting out of the country very soon.....

I wish all of us well in life. Never give up. be strong!!!

i hail all local men and women, i hail all APLees and us non APLees, I know its painful, but we all gonna be fine.

pS: abeg don't mind my grammar, all ye nairaland professor, i no sabi how to type grammar on NL, its not official, so I freestyle, just so you know, I slayed IELTS. so don't judge my intelligence based on my pidgin/bad grammar post.

Teaser4!!!!
Respect brooooo. The hustle spirit never dies. keep the fire burning. See you at the top.

I did not receive brother.

In truth, it was my bro that pinged me this afternoon, thinking i have gotten,so i rushed here to see thing's for myself.

He himself is still in shock, i told him, that's life (Recall, the day i posted my chat with him here, I never sounded optimistic). I have grown to know, that, disappointments comes in many folds.

I have been down since, it took going to go get a bag of purewater to get me out of the senseless mood. My wife had helped my matter too.

I am giving myself between Today and Nextweekend to finally move on, I have momentarily.

Teaser4, GeniusOla et al. are wonderful people that i will miss, including you too, bro Suraj, Panalyst, Napolitano et al., it isn't my loss, it is that of NNPC.

I wish the successful one's here, a prosperous journey, may death never impale their sourjorn abruptly.

They should do well to post their APL here and give gist about what true amount is the upfront, of course, they should conceal their identity (it is what i will do, if i were in their shoes). This is for progeny sake, those in the pool of next recruitment shouldn't suffer for vital info like we did.

At least, we now know, you receive tfare, you nor receive tfare kò di APL lọwọ.

I bid a partial farewell to people here.

I'm so sorry to hear this bro

Congrats to the successful candidates.

I hope we are vindicated about the EH vs GT thing (and the possibility of "slight shift" from the earlier info we provided).
Thanks Jarus
