The wages or rewards of sin is spiritual death which is separation from God.
However, this chapter talks about 'crucifying' the physical 'the body of sin', that is, destroying the power of sin in the body (not spirit) by crucifying it as Christ was crucified on the cross resulting in its death so that one is freed from the power of sin.

Once a person accepts Christ as his or her personal Lord and Saviour, the spirit of that person is made alive and reconciled with God. As a result, the Spirit of God would be able to dwell in that person. But, the person's nature, desires, wants, goals, ambitions, etc are still ruled by the old nature of sin. This is where the daily actions of crucifying the flesh or body of sin and renewing the mind come in.

At regeneration, God does something about the spirit by making it alive. However, it is up to us to subject the body to make it obey God's commandments.

In conclusion, as you crucify your fleshly or sinful desires daily you die to sin, and since sin has no power over a 'dead body' , you become free from it.

Already I highlighted how 'brought forth' was repeated twice therein and also drew on a parallel verse in Psalm 139 to show that the word possess is used in relation to the 'brought forth' process. Thankfully, both passages were referring to living beings!

If you will single out 'possess' and throw away the 'brought forth' repeated twice, you are a free moral agent but you would have diminished from the word, deleting vs 24 and 25 because you feel your thinking supersedes the Word!!!

Reference to Lazarus in Abraham's bossom and the Richman in hell beggining for a drop of water, was a discussion of the spirits in Heaven. The Richman's spirit then asked father Abraham's spirit to send prophet to the earth to recover his relations.
