easykay011:First of all, no one here can tell you your chance of getting into a school. Direct this question to the grad coordinator of your program. He/she will be able to tell you what the average stats of their incoming students look like. 2. The requirements of each school and program are different. Ask the coordinator or any professor in the department about the score requirement of they are not published online. 3. Yes. You can apply to graduate school with those scores. But then, see number 1. Cheers! Edit: Apparently, someone else has answered this. I never knew at the time of writing this. |
Chapecoense:No wahala, Chief. I will do that. |
Is anybody travelling to JFK through Egypt Air on August 1st? Let's connect. Send me a PM. I intend to write about the experience and share photos. Maybe even do some reviews. ![]() |
Coloniel5000:You can use www.foreigncredits.com to get a free conversion. 3.0 on 4.0 scale is about 3.2 on the 5.0 scale. So check it out and see for yourself. |
thebosstrevor:The client is not Mercedes Benz. The client is the owner of a Mercedes Benz SUV. TAC armors all manner of car brands. Your link reinforced my point. |
That's not the CEO of Mercedes Benz. If you watch the video again you will see TAC in the middle banner and the flag of Texas on the right. That is Texas Armouring Corporation. Apparently, that's TAC advertising their service, not Mercedes Benz. |
I expected to see the signature green colour that has come to represent anything naija since we are talking about naija car lover. Instead, I saw a purple color. Not nice for me. Secondly, which is more important. What's that Davido and Flavor post doing up there? Initially, I thought it was a post about Davido's GLE but I just saw that it doesn't relate in anyway with the theme of the blog. Stick to a proposition and let's know you for that. |
tizentos:Don't let that free application from Michigan Tech deceive you. Michigan Tech will not fund your masters. I will advise you apply for a PhD. And even when you do, don't hold your breath. Apply to another school in its place so you won't Jonz at the end of the day. Cheers! |
I read all 24 pages in one day. This is a very interesting thread. |
OluDare01:Bro. I sent you a mail. It's been about a week now. Abeg help me respond to this. God bless you. Enjoy your week. |
Abeg house, how good is the chance of getting a visa with a Pre-masters Program? Any advice? |
Senatorbee:I don't know if they have your course but I know for sure that these schools accept scanned copies. 1. Michigan Tech. (don't apply if funding is a top priority and you are going for Masters. School is stingy. Maybe PhD sha) 2. Ohio University, Oxford 3. New Mexico state university 4. North Carolina A&T 5. TAMUK. Cheers. |
shabol54:You are welcome. |
shabol54:In my opinion, 1. Your friend needs to score high in the GRE to boost his profile. By high, I mean Q and V scores that are over 155 to get a good chance. 2. He should also give a compelling reason as to why he merely escaped a third class in his SOP. The keyword here is compelling. 3.To be truthful, you don't really know what your chances are when you apply. You just ensure you meet most or all of the requirements and keep praying. 4. Does he have research or work experience? If he does, he can start talking to any of the lecturers in those chemistry departments before applying. Cheers! |
Hushee:Thanks a lot. |
phdmscbsc:Thanj you so much. Great!! |
Drocks:Thank you very much ![]() |
Shoaze:Ivy League schools are schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, etc. They are top schools in the US. |
Ndawe:I'm also going to Tennessee Tech for Fall. I sent you a PM. Please kindly respond. |
towbaynah:You are welcome sir. The pleasure is all mine. |
mjksho:Throwback to when this part was started. Dreams do come true. Waiting for God to complete what he has started. |
To follow the tradition of this great section on Nairaland, I will share my transcript with the hope that this might help someone someday. Here we go, I arrived Walter Carrington at 5:50am as I have booked for the 6:30 window. With what I have heard from previous transcripts as per 'shunting' the queue, I just quickly used style to get to the front of the people gathered there since they have not lined up. 6:30 came and I was number 10 on the queue. No wahala. Prechecks done and I'm still number 10 on the line to see VO. My time came and I was made to stand at Window 5, the second person to be interviewed by the very young and beautiful VO. She denied the first person after like 7 minutes. The Asian guy had denied 2 already and was drilling the 3rd guy. I was not even bothered. I kept looking at my Oxblood brogues and Pepper red trousers with one hand inside my suit jacket, forming lady killer. My time came eventually. VO: Good morning Me: (with the most sincere smile in the world as VO na fine white lady) Good morning, how are you doing? VO: (She smiles back and my heart skipped a beat) Pass me your passport, Sevis receipt and I-20. VO: What school are you going to? Me: Tennessee Tech, Cookeville VO: Where did you do your undergraduate Me: OAU VO: When? Me: mentioned it VO: What course did you study? Me: Chemical Engineering VO: What degree are you getting? Me: Masters in Chemical engineering with a focus on renewable energy. VO: Did you do any exams? Yes: GRE and IELTS. VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: Five VO: what are your scores? Me: told her. VO: What will this degree do for you? Me: (Took a deep breath because I was ready to download ) First of all, a masters degree in Chemical engineering is a requirement to take up a lecturing job at OAU where I intend to lecture upon graduation. (VO nods in agreement). Secondly, a masters degree in this school will expose me to research on Microbial Fuel Cell technology which is far better than Biomass Gasification which is what is the case where I currently work. Fuel cells are cleaner, bla bla bla. VO: Where do you work? Me: mentioned it. A renewable energy firm. VO: What are your duties? Me: ( something wey I put for my DS-160 by myself) I monitor key indicators like BOD, greenhouse gases, etc. I write technical report on this and that. I also conduct EIA on New projects. VO pauses to ask colleague something. I don't know if it's about my case. But me no care, I didn't stop looking at her any point so she go know say I dey her case. She comes back after a minute. VO: who is sponsoring you? Me: my dad VO: what does he do? Me: mentioned it. VO: Do you have a relative in the US? Me: No. VO: I'll be... (I couldnt hear anything)...3 days. She brought out white paper from a pile nearby. I just smiled at her and left. My advice: 1. Don't rush to answer questions. Calm down. When you are calm, you will be able to articulate your thoughts. Even though I'm naturally articulate, I took short pauses before answering. The interview is not as bad as many have painted it to be. 2. All these USnews and google stuff don cast. The chinese guy drilled someone on this. I think saying you found your schools in some professional journal is way better. 3. If your school fee is very high and the school is not Ivy League level, be prepared to defend it especially if you have no scholarship. Chinese guy also drilled someone on it. The guy was clueless. 4. Don't pay attention to people being denied when you enter that room. Face your front. You know why you are there. 5. Don't cram your answers. You may forget. Rehearsing your answers is what helps. 6. Believe in something. I believe in God, prayer, and preparation. I fasted and prayed for grace because I don't want shocking questions. Believing in God helped me to stay confident even though I was prepared. 7. Refer somebody here. I probably wouldn't have known how best to answer some questions if I had not found this room. I have read over 40 transcripts here. God bless all of you here. Congratulations to you, I hope you will find my transcript useful for you. Your success is around the corner. Cheers. |
happyday:Thank you so much man. |
Visa approved. 6:30 am. Lagos. Transcript loading. |
happyday:Gbogbo! Lol. We hugged them that year and they did us strong thing. That kinda strong thing that will make you pray for at least a 40 E or 45 D in a bulky four unit course like Organic Chemistry. Well sha, all na story today. |
sirRiddy:Knowing those guys lasan, you are family. Their rooms were below mine in 2014 in Awo Block 8. I stayed at the Med Floor. PM answered Sir. |
sirRiddy:You, brother are a dodger of bullets. Part 1 was a smooth sail in White House but part 3 when we resumed those 4 units CHM courses was like the holocaust. 4 pointers were dropping like the dollar. I finished from Chemical Engineering. The same set with you. ASUU, NASU, FJay crisis, our set was unlucky. We escaped strike in only 400L. Chances are that I will even know your face, except you are one of those efikos that don't show up in faculty lectures ![]() |
sirRiddy:Hehehehe. So I still try. I had B in all the Spider courses, na only those White House Chemistry courses chop my GP like Indomie. CSC 201 and 208 was good for me too. That Yeye Fortran we do that time. 10 people per PC at Intecu. ![]() |
sirRiddy:I found this to be very true. But that TPD 101 na pure water. If you don't get an A, you will probably never get an A in Tech. ![]() |
texazzpete:No. The joke is on you. You veered off course by mentioning Model S when the subject was model P and now you are talking about all the other lineups. Personally, I don't think the design is bad. But it just doesn't fit the mean image of the likes of F-150 and Tundra that we already have in our heads. |
olite93:You know you didn't have to call him a loser right? Someone expressed his opinion. Just disagree and go. Name calling won't make your opinion valid. |

Greetings,greatest Nlanders
