And THE LAW isnt already doing this? Do you know why serial rapists, kidnappers etc are called criminals? Because they impinge on everyone's rights - BOTH MALE AND FEMALE. Men have been victims of serial rapists, kidnappers and serial killers as well. There is no where the law supports the things you listed above and there is no special prefence for men in killings either. The serial killer doesnt look at the male and say "hey, lets not kill him, he's male."
If you had given examples of eqaulity in the workplace or equal schooling rights etc it would have made sense.

so because it affects both genders it means women shouldn't raise awareness over what affects them? whats the ratio of female victims killed by sexual sadists compared to male victims? Whats the ratio of underage girls turned into sex slaves compared to that of underage boys? Whats the ratio of female children forces into marriage to that of male children forced into marriage?

Next thing you will say is because there is corruption everywhere else in the world there is no need for Nigerians to raise awareness and deal with corruption in its own country

Okay let me put it in simple terms for your brain to understand this. If you rape and kill a girl you violate their right to bodily intergrity, right to life, right to not be treated in a cruel or inhumane manner...

What feminism is advocating for is not only so that women have rights but so that they have these rights respected by other people i.e. Not to be raped, not to be killed, not to be used as sex slaves. Thats why they say feminism promotes rights for women. Keyword being "promote" i.e. ensuring the effectiveness or awareness of something.

Its not enough to just say i have rights, you have to have these rights respected by others. This is the simplest i can go, if you cannot understand it at this point, i really can't help you any further.

What respect and dignity are women currently being denied in the west? I mention the west cos that is where feminism thrives more. Feminism as far as I'm concerned has done its job. Women can have any job they want, they are voted into strategic positions, they are not discriminated against when going to school. So what is feminism still baring its fangs for?

There is a difference between simply "having rights" and "having these rights respected".
Go check on the number of women killed and tortured by serial killers and the number of girls raped by paedophiles, the number of girls both underage and majors forced into trafficking in these Western countries, then come back and then come back and tell us if thats what you call respecting their rights.

Although women and men may have different roles they play in society they all still deserve to be treated with equal respect and dignity. What some of these people now think is because men and women have different roles in society they should therefore be treated unequally because of this.

People should just stop involving physical strength anyhow. How many man can willingly endure intense pain thats equivalent to child labour and still volunteer to do it again and again?

The topic discussed other areas apart from physical weakness. Even in cognitive reasoning males are superior. This doesn't mean women are dumb, as a matter of fact women thrive a lot in jobs requiring their thinking faculties. However feminism will have us believe men and women are exactly the same of which they are not. At least not physically, biologically or psychologically.

You are clearly mistaken, feminism promotes equality in the substantive sense. There is is difference between being equal and being the same. You can treat your male and female children equally and not necessarily the same.
Did God himself not say we are all equal before him?

Hmmm, I agree that the man is the stronger of the two physically and because of this traditionally the men have always been in the forefront but I see that in our "evolution" as a society we are recreating the paradigm as we refine our science and technology. Ways in which it was only possible for the physically strong to be prominent are being switched for ways in which the intellectually strong are now at the forefront. Women are no longer limited by their physical strength and can achieve as much success as their male counterparts. On the homefront as co-providers due to the nature of economics now, neither man or woman wants/needs to sit back at home. The need for economic resource has made "professional" care providers both necessary and desired unburdening parents especially mothers of the need to be tied to the home. How favourable this state of affairs is/will be is dependent on how we choose to navigate this developing paradigm but be sure that the traditional view of strength is changing.

I do let things go. I have been on nairaland for over 8 years now(with a different username tho, lost it wen nairaland had a problem sometime ago), I've never been here for advice but I just can't understand why I act like that. By God I love her and the major reason I brought it here is cos I don't want to hurt her. I won't forgive myself if I do but why do I get angry easily with her. And even when I do my best to stay happy, that's when she get temper issues. So I just don't know what or how to prevent all this. Like I said, I don't want to get married tomorrow with an unhappy home and be feared rather than loved and respected. We've talked about it several time and deep down in me, I feel maybe, I fear for the future with her. But I want to build a home with her.
