mukina2: Arsene Wenger believes his ever-improving Arsenal side can prove the naysayers wrong this season.
The Gunners endured a disastrous start to the campaign but have responded superbly to an 8-2 mauling at Manchester United in August.
Arsenal have won five of their seven league matches since the Old Trafford defeat and manager Wenger wants his side to continue their fine run against West Brom tomorrow.
"For us it is of course a vital game tomorrow because we are coming back into a better position in the league,'' he said.
"We feel at home we are managing to win games and we want to continue to do that.
"What was important at Chelsea was that we won the game. That was important for confidence.
"But away from home up until now we have not produced the points you need when you want to play at the top. That's good for the confidence of the team.
"The [midweek Champions League] Marseille game was a difficult one because we were on such a high after Saturday, which made Tuesday night a bit more difficult.
"But, having had chance to watch it again, we produced enough chances to win the game [despite drawing 0-0].''
While Arsenal are starting to find a winning rhythm in the league, there remains those doubting their ability to finish in the top four.
Earlier this week Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart told the Gunners not to get carried away with their win over Chelsea and insisted Tottenham are the best team in north London.
Asked about the comments, Wenger retorted: "Well nobody is guaranteed to be in the top four after 10 games.
"Nobody has enough knowledge or is prophetic enough to say who will finish there.
"Historically we have not been bad in there so I don't see why somebody can say that.
"Let's just let everybody else talk and we will play. If we play better and better, then we have a chance.''
Arsenal have been given a kind-looking set of fixtures over the coming weeks, with matches against Norwich, Fulham and Wigan after tomorrow's encounter with West Brom.
Wenger knows it will not be as easy as some suggest but highlighted the importance of heading into December with a good points tally.
"Football is not as rational and mathematical as [saying we will get lots of points from these upcoming fixtures],'' the Frenchman said.
"I believe in the Premier League you get what you deserve from the quality of your performance.''
Robin van Persie will return to the starting line-up while Wenger is without Marouane Chamakh (knee), Kieran Gibbs (stomach), Abou Diaby (hamstring), Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna (both ankle).
West Brom manager Roy Hodgson admits he found it laughable when Wenger's future came under the spotlight and praised the way he is building another side capable of challenging for honours.
Hodgson believes the Gunners have started to overcome the summer loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
He witnessed at first hand their stunning 5-3 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a Robin van Persie hat-trick, and knows Albion will have to improve on last weekend's performance against Liverpool to have any chance of repeating last season's 3-2 win at Arsenal.
Hodgson said: "Are Arsenal back? Have they ever been away? Where did they go? There was all the stuff about Arsene being under the spotlight and pressure.
"I think all managers at this level will accept they come under the spotlight and pressure if your team isn't winning as many games as people would like to see you win.
"But I would find it very hard to believe if Arsenal FC were considering Wenger's future because for the last 15 years he has done a fantastic job.
"He has proved himself to be one of the best managers in the world and has made that club an enormous amount of money when other clubs are losing money and staring administration in the face.
"He has made that club stronger and stronger, richer and richer. His list of achievements just goes on and on.''
Hodgson added: "I put those moments when even people like Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson are called into question as one of the amusing aspects of the job.
"Arsene has had a chance after the upheavals of the summer with Fabregas and Nasri to accept it is time to move on from those players and to bring new players in.
"Those new players are bedding in better and better, at least if you look at the results it would seem that way because they are doing very well at the moment.''
Match Oh STFU already R VDV, s.t.u.pid c.oc.k.s.u.cker can't stop moaning about Arsenal just because they did not sign him |

Pukkah: I agree with the introduction of toll gates but there must be conditions:
1. The road to be tolled must be smooth and not have potholes. It should also be wide enough for the envisaged traffic on it. 2. The road to be tolled must have emergency accident points. 3. The road to be tolled must have police patrol teams and FRSC men. 4. The road to be tolled must have functional street lights. 5. The road to be tolled must have roads markings and road signs. 6. The road to be tolled must not have trailers and trucks parked indiscriminately on them. 7. The bushes in the median of the road to be tolled must be well-cut and maintained. You Honestly think THIS president will do this?
These are the minimum standards that I expect before government goes ahead to toll any road. In fact, government should first rehabilitate these roads (put them in the conditions described above) and hand over collection of tolls and first class road maintenance to private companies. If not, the proceeds from the toll would likely be embezzled and the people will bear the brunt.
Government should also implement emission rules for our vehicles in Nigeria. There are many instances of old, smoky and clanging vehicles emitting dangerous and thick clouds of smoke on our roads. |

9icest: You should kindly shut up sometimes. You are actually the most useless person here because you dont even have an opinion. I heard GEJ gives you a monthly check for your conscience and your brain. Just leave Nigerians alone and go spend your filthy money. And I hope the money brings you death and sorrow. |

Demdem: These guys are simply useless. Vast majority of Nigerians could be easily fooled but i refuse to be.
The other day before these tolls were demolished OBJ increase the cost of fuel and he promised that part of the funds will be channeled to FERMA for the maintenance of the roads. One of the palliative measures he promised and did was the demolition of these toll gates.
Years after, only God knows if these funds are being given to FERMA because FERMA seems not to be doing anything. Cost of fuel hasnt gone down in price and the govt is planning to return these toll gates. its so unfortunate that Nigerians generally do have a very short memory. The PDP govt knows this and easily making use of this fault of ours to harm us.
SAMMILLA, it wont solve or fix any road. its simply part of the grand deception that has been in play since 1999. True, Very true |

pro01: This guy seems overwhelmed by his ill-deserved (albeit ephemeral) success. Ten years from now P.Square would probably be multi-millionaire businessmen (in line with pragmatic, hard-nosed Igbo business shrewdness), while this delusional crackhead would have gone under like the MC Hammers and Mike Tysons before him. He certainly doesn't have nearly enough money to justify owning a Bentley and Aston Martin; seems he learnt all the wrong lessons from his nebulous association with Kanye West, Jay-Z, Snoop and the other global hip-hop titans. Emulating their lifestyle despite having only a pitiful fraction of their fame and fortune is ludicrous, if not downright imbecilic. But then, we've been down that road before, so unless he 'codedly' has an oil well, or is into oil-bunkering or big time 'Abuja Contracts' and similar racketeering, I know exactly how he'd turn out in a couple of years from now. All this for D'banj , seriously dude YOU need a life! |

Gosh! P-Square build house people talk! D'banj buy moto, dem still talk!! IS IT YOUR MONEY? @ Ogugua, you did not make D'banj who he is today, if you ever bought his album then you have yourself to blame, don't say people made him who he is today just because they buy his CDs and attend his shows: they have a need for his services and he charges for it simple as that! ogugua88: To drive on which road? Mschew. People are hungry and he's flaunting a car he'll never drive. If I was a celeb I'd be giving back. Using my fame as a platform to help others rather than distancing myself from my own. your comment is quite unfortunate, flaunting a car he'll never drive? Jeez that's some haterism you got there, people own more expensive sportscars and STILL DRIVE them on Nigerian roads: take a trip to Abuja and feed your eyes, As for the part about people being hungry, it's his money and it's not in your place to tell him how he chooses to spend it,, you're being plain childish here. We are waiting for you to hit celebrity status and give back! |
