RomanceRe: It Is Now Illegal To Solicit unclothed Pictures Via Blackberry Messenger by Mobsync(m): 5:49pm On Jan 26, 2011
Lagos – Precedence has been set in a Lagos High court ruling making it illegal to solicit naked pictures via BB.

In a suit brought against a Mr Okafor of Ebutemeta, by his aggrieved girlfriend, Miss Iyabo of Matori, the presiding judge ruled in favour of the plaintiff, agreeing that it amounted to sexual harassment and intimidation for the defendant to persistently ask the plaintiff to take naked pictures of herself with the Blackberry Bold he bought for her, and send same to him via blackberry messenger.

Giving witness at the hearing, Miss Iyabo claimed that the plaintiff had earlier promised her a Blackberry phone, but unbeknownst to her he had ulterior motives when he agreed to the expensive largesse.

Barely able to concede her contempt, Miss Iyabo told the court:

“When he say he will buy me the phone, I have to remind him many times until finally he buy it. And every time I ask, he will just tell me that they have not yet pay him his salary and I should wait, so me too I begin to hold back things from him. When he ask me for sex, I will tell him they have not yet pay me my bursary. Then he begin to take me seriously.”

She claimed she began to grow suspicious of his intentions when he finally bought her the phone.

“One day like that, he phone me on my nokia that I should come and sleep in his house. Me I tell him that we wont do anything o, but he said he have a surprise for me, so I went there.

“On getting there, he show me the phone he have bought for me and I tell him that they have finally paid my bursary. But in the morning when I’m preparing to go home, he only give me the battery of the phone. He said he would give me the charger next time, and after that he would give me the manual, then later he would give me the box, then he would give me the phone.”

Laughter erupted in the courtroom as the plaintiff narrated her cunning boyfriend’s ploy. But her travails did not end there. Haven bought her the phone and giving it to her, battery- case, charger and all, Mr Okafor developed a habit of always asking for explanations when he called and she didn’t answer her phone on time. When she objected to his insinuations, he would quickly remind her that he had bought her the phone after all.

This continued for a protracted period of time until she was posted to Gombe for her youth service and Okafor’s request became even more bizarre. He started to call her at odd hours, asking her to send him ‘sexy’ pictures of herself.

According to Miss Iyabo, she obliged him the first few times, but when he began to insist on seeing ‘all or her’ every morning, she decided that enough was enough.

“He only buy me common phone and now he want me to be sending him sexy photo all the time,” she lamented to the court.

Delivering judgement, Judge T.T Immaculate said to the plaintiff:

“Out of crafty an inventive means, you have devised to keep your partner under unnecessary duress and manipulation. While this court may not grant the plaintiff her prayer to have you imprisoned, it is my personal conviction that men like you should not be allowed to have girlfriends, lest they procreate.

"You are hereby ordered to desist from making further lewd demands from the plaintiff or any other women, and you are to compensate her with a new Blackberry Torch and a months worth of BIS access."

This ruling has since made a lot of male Nigerian’s very uncomfortable indeed.

PoliticsShoot-to-kill Orders Issued In Nigeria After Riot by Mobsync(op): 3:38pm On Jan 18, 2011
LAGOS, Nigeria – Soldiers patrolling Nigeria's volatile central region received shoot-to-kill orders after a Christian mob killed a Muslim election worker and set his body on fire, an army spokesman said Tuesday.

The death Monday in Jos, a flashpoint of religious tension between Nigeria's two dominant religions, comes as technical problems continue to plague the nation's effort to register 70 million eligible voters before a crucial April presidential election.

The new orders in Jos allow soldiers to kill anyone trying to hurt another person or destroy a home, church or mosque in the city and surrounding areas, Capt. Charles Ekeocha said. The military has been a dominant presence in the city since violence began there last year that has left more than 500 dead.

"The best option is to make sure you stop the person," Ekeocha told The Associated Press. "Even if it means taking the person's life, it is OK."

The attack Monday began after election workers decided to move a registration point without informing the joint military and police task force in the city, the captain said. A Christian mob gathered, upset by the fact that workers handling the registration were Muslims.

Witnesses to the attack said another two people died when soldiers opened fire to try and protect the other election workers nearby. The military has denied shooting into the mob, though soldiers have shot and killed civilians before over the past year.

The worker was a member of the Nigeria's National Youth Service Corps, a required yearlong program for university graduates in the oil-rich nation. The government created the program in 1973 as a means to bridge the religious, regional and ethnic divisions in Nigeria after its brutal civil war ended in 1970. Those divisions persist today.

Many university students in Nigeria find few job opportunities after graduation. Staffing the two-week voter registration offers the youths a guaranteed payout of $200 for 14 days of work, said Kayode Idowu, a spokesman for the nation's electoral commission. World Bank statistics suggest more than 80 percent of people in Nigeria, a country of 150 million people, earn less than $2 a day.

Idowu declined to comment about the death, saying the commission had yet to receive an official report on the killing. He said security wasn't an issue at other locations in the country and that providing protection at each of the roughly 120,000 registration points would be impossible.

"The police don't have enough manpower to cover every single polling unit," he said.

The April elections include a presidential poll in which President Goodluck Jonathan will face opponents from minor parties. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party, the only force with the money, political connections and muscle necessary to manipulate an election.

International observers called the 2007 election of the late President Umaru Yar'Adua rigged, even though it represented the first civilian-to-civilian transfer of power in the nation's history.

Registration began slowly, as the Saturday start date saw numerous reports of problems with the laptops, digital cameras, printers and fingerprint scanners the government bought for $230 million. Registration in many places has improved, though potential voters complain about long waits and problems with the fingerprinting process. Even well-known figures, like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, have been turned away after the machines failed to work.

In the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, election officials have been registering voters with paper and pen as 200 sets of the equipment were found to malfunction. Six other areas around Borno state have yet to receive the equipment at all.

She Left Me Before, But Wants To Come Back After I Got A Plum Job

HI, Nairalanders, I enjoy reading your comments and contributions when ever I'm less busy in d office. my story goes thus:

I'm a 28-year old chap, i had a girl i tried to woo two years ago when was doin my post grad studies. she failed for me but after I left Abuja 4 school, she dumped me and went for a Banker. I confronted her but she gave no explanation hence I accepted my fate and moved on. Being a decent guy, I never severed my relationship with her we still talk as mere frends. Initially it affected my studies but i later got over it.

It's been 2 years now and I got a job with an oil company operating in the downstream sub-sector of the oil and gas industry, and was posted to South-southern part of the country. after some time, she got winds of happenings around me and started by calling to congratulate me. With time, the frequency of d calls increased and anytime I come to Abuja she she'll always be around me.

Eventually, she discarded the banker and pleaded with me to accept her back into my life. I'm skeptical bout this girl but the truth is that I still have feelings for her. Besides, since I broke up wit her I never entered into any relationship. Please nairalanders what do you think I should do. Once beating beaten, twice shy.

@ all.

No matter what you said, nothing can change this man's resolve.

Take it or leave it, if any accident had happened that day due to over-crowding, its this same set of mouths that will condemn the man for not being able to arrange its program well.

Anyway, i stand on my decision; this man is a star and since PFN publicly started the criticism, he's been becoming more popular and more powerful!

So stop and think before you add your comment!

You're a lIar, i bale to listen 2 Godz word,
