Fiyinfoluwa20:
Sorry about your experience but I make bold to say not all first-class graduates share your sentiments. First-class is not the end, it is a means to an end. First does not mean you are smart, just shows you are able to learn and can commit to a goal and that's what some people look out for when looking to hire.

Just having first-class does not guarantee anything, you have to earn whatever would be given to you in this world in addition to your first class which i want to believe you earned !

Plus, first class is not in that paper they gave you in School, it is an attitude, demonstrated in everything you do, how you search for Jobs, how you think about getting your dream job, how aggressive you are in pursuing the things you want, how you intend to deliver tasks given to you.

OP, a first does not guarantee a good life, you would need hard work, God, time and chance to make things happen for you as well.
Make your first if you a able to, but understand it is not the meal ticket to life's buffet, you still have to earn whatever you'd be getting in this life.

Have faith in God and keep on working, hopefully, line would fall in pleasant places.

Shalom.
If people are not smart then how can they have first class? Maybe in advanced countries it is possible to earn a first class without being smart, but with intelligence and hardwork. But here in Nigeria, you need to be smart to achieve first class because you even need to psychologically study each lecturer to be able to have a good grade in their courses. There are lecturers that need quantity before you can have an A, they need you to tell stories and collect extra sheets, their are some that wants quality and quantity, their are some that doesn't even know what they want, their are some that attendance would determine what you would have as your grade, their are some that do impromptu tests especially after a day to public holidays where its is highly possible for students not to be around.

There are lecturers that will grade you because they like you and think you are a good student, their are those that would dislike you and grade you on that, and their are those that's would give your seniors to mark scripts which means the people marking your scripts determine your grade. Except in some exceptional schools in Nigeria which can't be more than 2 that actually mark based on intelligence, others you need to be smart to be able to be consistent with As in your 4years

Congratulations, you finally realised what life is all about but you realised late. You are not alone though, a lot of people walk this path.

Our parents are the main cause of this, they projected their failures into us and made us feel a First Class or education will elevate us and make us SUCCESSFUL. The problem with SUCCESS is that it is solely defined as how much you have.

Sometimes legacy you built is also defined as SUCCESS, money still tops it mostimes.
Thanks, its been long I realized that though

it seems u didn't later get the first class because u lacked the aforementioned qualities? just wondering cos am also chasing it but in my 200L second semester I was frustrated in my results, I had missing script, 4 C's( which I never had), n B's, in fact my G.P crashed from 4.75 to 4.49....So I did my research, that was when I started receiving advice from some of my friends who are lecturers that first class is awarded based on certain criteria(like the one u mentioned above), not just academic.

I will need your counsel, am in my 300L now and am lacking enthusiasm to keep pushing since I know I will likely be frustrated. Please advice a brother n a friend, I don't want to repeat your past in my future

No, people like you need help!
That I decided not to marry another race doesn't make me a racist.

Would you willingly give up your culture, language and religion for mine?

I wouldn't give up mine of yours, that creates room for conflict. The best way to avoid such conflicts is to settle for someone from the same cultural cluster with me.
Of course, marrying someone from ones tribe doesn't make one to be a tribalistic, but publicly saying one shouldn't marry from other tribes is an attribute of a RACIST. And Racists a re mentally unstable people with too much ethnic ego. And truth is that these people are usually with the worst ethnic behaviour

On the contrary, it is people like you who pretend these differences don't exist that are the world's problem. My place is probably better advanced than yours. In the last 60 years, how has this so-called multiculturalism helped Nigeria in particular and the world at large?

Instead, the result is dysfunctional homes, confused children and distorted sexuality. My culture is in NO WAY useless.

I won't let left leaning anarchist rob me of my identity in the name of a globalization.

My people have been shortchanged because of their liberal disposition.

Yoruba to Yoruba, Igbo to Igbo, Ijaw to Ijaw,Ibibio to Ibibio, Fulani to Fulani etc.

We will be doing ourselves a disservice if we promote this inter ethnic trash.

Today many people of African descent in the diaspora wish their African culture was largely preserved.

If we fail to preserve our respective cultures, tomorrow our children will ask us why we failed to.
Nothing much to say to you Mr RACIST, I can clearly see that you need help.

Biafra? Nationality!#?!?

Where?

My friend stop getting emotional!

There have been several documented cases of racists getting married to people of a race they don't like. Several racists reluctantly allow their children marry other races.

Racist [wo]men get married to another race because of the kind of child they would like to have, their stereotypes on sexuality, the person's wealth or status in society.

The same principles apply when it comes to ethnicity.

A German would most likely marry a German before he marries a French or English.

In Nigeria we should see things in that same light.

An Igbo should not be demonized for wanting to marry an Igbo or wanting his children to marry Igbo.

Nigeria is not one, we should stop telling ourselves that lie.

Every citizen of Nigeria should be treated within the confines of law. We should stop trying to distort people's cultures through these thoughtless experiments that have failed in other parts of the world.

Inter ethnic marriage can only work to a certain degree when one of both parties submits to one of the cultures. It causes confusion. Many of such children have identity crisis.
You are a disgrace to human beings. Go away with your racism and useless culture that have kept your people behind in everything. Try that with your kids and you will see that you will be disowned by all of them. This is 21st century, people should be allowed to marry who they desire

Thats one of the mistake I made in my life and still regretting it till now. First class is a waste of time and thoughts. If you are connected, not an introvert, then you have a chance, if you are not, please I beg you, while in university, concentrate on things you can do that would bring you money and make you happy in life. Just make sure you don't go below second class upper.
Nigeria is a failed country.

I wish I had used my school fees to purchase Tech equipment and learn the skills, some of us fall into the category of bad advice. I regret the day I saw my result and it was full of A's in 100level first semester, that was my motivation and every body started telling me I would made a first class up and down, and telling me not to relent. I wish I had relented, but I was stupid to keep pursuing nonsense

What are you even saying? You as a Muslim, can you get married to Christian and change your faith? undecided
Its not about that bros, no one decides for me. Its disgusting he's seeking his parent's opinion on who he should marry at this age. Love comes above any other thing, both of them does not have any religion, so even if they marry someone from their faith, it doesn't keep them for being obedient to either Christianity/Islam. And also does not prevent them from having sex with people of other faiths. If these two are not allowed to marry, it will only cause problem for us in the society, as they would continue fornicating, the guy may marry someone he doesn't love, might end up maltreating his wife, his children would become depressed because of their daddy's treatment towards their mother, the children start drinking and misbehaving, join bad gang etc the problem would continue and unfold in different ways which would lead to pollute our society.
I can't marry a Christian because I don't want to and I have a firm faith, not because I'm afraid of my parents or what anyone would say. Thats the difference.
The parents are disgusting because they don't care if they fornicates with opposite sex, but only care if they marry opposite sex. If you train your children well, they would see people of their faiths to marry and not choose from a different faith
The fool parents failed to train their children properly, so they don't have the right to make them sad at old age

Anyway, only a weak person will talk the way you did. If after university your parents still take decisions for you, then I'm very sorry because you are a weakling.
The last time my parent took decision for me was when I entered university, since then, I decide for myself.

Another reason why you are a weakling is that, at this age, you do not have a good reason to be in a faith, you are just practising because you were born into the religion, if not, you won't be thinking whether to change or not. I trust Nairaland religious and atheist bigots, they are convinced on what they are doing and firm on it. That is what a real human being should be, not dwindling between two opposite things. Its just like saying a white is a black without having your firm believe of what a colour is.
Anyway, good luck with your mummys breast sucking at age 42, I wonder how weak your so called gf must be as well. Your parents would decide what you will have for breakfast even if they allow you marry, so, the marriage no go work.
Abeg, please don't bring any children to this world as you are both too dull to combine together in marriage.

Nigeria would have been a great and a better nation if not the northern part of Nigeria. There is no country in the world that can share a country with the northerners and record a single success in a year.
All their news will be centered on terrorism, religious war, child marriage, Illetracy, etc.
I support this, Northern Nigeria can never make Nigeria to grow, because they know the root of their problems and they are adamant on changing what lead to that problem.
The only Solution is to pick all the Northern Alfas, Sheikhs, Ustadhs and camp them in a room for detoxification in their brain as regards Islam, then put the right Islamic knowledge there, then send them back to preach to their people. Until this, we will continue to experience this problem of
1. Child marriage
2. Illiteracy
3. Almajiris
4. Killings/banditry
This is because for many years back, they have been given the knowledge to give birth without plans and purpose, quoting Hadith that the prophet said we should give birth to many children so that he can be proud of them during yaomal kiyama

2. This people believe this is the best way to practice Islam and in their own eyes, they are better than all other people and Paradise is specially made for them

3. They quote the Hadith that Allah provides food to humans and thus no matter how many they give birth to, Allah would feed them.

Northerners are a disgrace to Nigeria for allowing such stupidity in the name of Islam.
Northern Nigeria can never make Nigeria to grow, because they know the root of their problems and they are adamant on changing what lead to that problem and keep on defending the root cause of those problems.
An average Northerner will defend child marriage, almajiris and maltreatment of others based on differences in religious beliefs and above all in their heads, they are better than the rest of Nigerian tribes and better than Yoruba Muslims when it comes to practicing Islam.

Seeing the Almajiris I would shed tears, as they are usually with torn cloths, dirty, I used to be so engrossed with pains that I do feel like locating the parents of such children and handing them over to soldiers to kill because they do not deserve to have a womb or a sexual organ for reproduction. And with this, you will still see a Northerner defending such nonsense, saying he would have many wives and many children.

This is why Almajiri is running around now, some Muslims that will see truth and not speak. Wearing PPE and performing ablution is Wrong. Because the work of PPE is to protect yourself from infection. Performing solat wearing that, you will infect the floor, infect the water, infect the kettle and everything you have contact with. PPE is to be worn around infected patients or potential patients, and to be off and cleaned once wearer is leaving the infected people.

But I know Nigeria is Jagajaga, and you practice what you like even if being told what is right

IslamRe: COVID-19: How Can Someone Wearing PPE Perform Ablution For Solah? by ModestGal(f): 11:42am On May 08, 2020
Lukgaf:
Praise be to Allah.

Firstly:

There is nothing wrong with praying whilst wearing PPE that protects against viruses, even if it covers the face and all of the body, so long as the worshipper is able to place his nose and forehead on the ground when prostrating, because of the report narrated by al-Bukhaari (812) and Muslim (490) from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “I have been commanded to prostrate on seven bones: the forehead – and he pointed to his nose – the hands, the knees and the ends of the feet (i.e., toes).”

Ibn Qudaamah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It is not essential that these parts should touch the ground directly. Al-Qaadi said: If he prostrates on the edge of his turban, or his sleeve, or the hem of his garment, the prayer is valid, according to unanimous agreement. This is the view of Maalik and Abu Haneefah. Among those who granted a concession allowing prostration on a garment when it is very hot or very cold are: ‘Ataa’, Taawoos, an-Nakha‘i, ash-Sha‘bi, al-Awzaa‘i, Maalik, Ishaaq and ashaab ar-ra’y.

A concession allowing one to prostrate on the edge of one’s turban was granted by al-Hasan, Makhool and ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn Yazeed. Shurayh prostrated on his burnoose. End quote from al-Mughni (1/305).

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about someone who wears very large glasses or goggles and cannot prostrate fully on the seven parts, because they may prevent his nose from touching the ground.

He replied: If the glasses or goggles prevent the tip of the nose from touching the ground, then the prostration is not valid. That is because the glasses or goggles are not on the edge of the nose; rather they are in line with the eyes, so on this basis the prostration is not valid. The one who is wearing glasses or goggles that prevent his nose from touching the place of prostration must take them off whilst prostrating.

End quote from Majmoo‘ Fataawa ash-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (13/186).

It is makrooh to cover the mouth whilst praying, but that ruling may be waived in the case of necessity.

It says in ash-Sharh al-Mumti‘ (2/193): It is makrooh to wear a mask that covers the mouth and nose, such as using the turban or head cover to cover the mouth, or the nose, because the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade covering the mouth when praying. [Narrated by Abu Dawood (643) and Ibn Maajah (966) with a hasan isnaad.] And because that may lead to stifling the voice and making the letters unclear when reciting Qur’an and dhikr. An exception to that is made in the case of yawning and covering the mouth in order to suppress the yawn; there is nothing wrong with that. As for doing that with no reason, that is makrooh. If there is an unpleasant smell bothering a person whilst he is praying, and he needs to cover his face, that is permissible, because it is done for a need. The same applies if he has a cold and will have an allergic reaction if he does not cover his face; this is also a need which makes it permissible for him to cover his face. End quote.

Secondly:

There is nothing wrong with a person doing wudoo’ whilst wearing PPE, if he is able to wash the parts that must be washed when doing wudoo’, and to wipe the head, even if that is by putting his wet hand under the PPE. It is permissible to wipe over the khuffayn and socks for one day and one night if one is not travelling, and for three days and nights if one is travelling.

Al-Bukhaari (363) and Muslim (274) narrated that Mugheerah ibn Shu‘bah said: I was with the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and he said: “O Mugheerah, take the vessel.” I took it, and the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) set out until he disappeared from my sight, and relieved himself. He was wearing a Syrian jubbah, and he tried to bring his arms out through the sleeves, but they were too narrow, so he brought his arms out from underneath and I poured water for him. He did wudoo’ as for prayer, then he wiped over his khuffayn, then he prayed.

In a report narrated by Muslim, it says: He was wearing a Syrian jubbah with narrow sleeves.

If someone is able to do wudoo’ whilst wearing PPE, there is nothing wrong with that.

If he is not able to do that, then he must take it off in order to do wudoo’ properly.

If it is too difficult, especially for doctors who have no choice but to wear it most of the time, it is permissible for them to put prayers together – Zuhr and ‘Asr, and Maghrib and ‘Isha’ – at the time of the earlier or later prayer, because one of the reasons for putting the prayers together is to alleviate hardship and difficulty, as the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) granted a concession to the woman suffering non-menstrual bleeding (istihaadah) to put prayers together, because of the difficulty in purifying herself for every prayer.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The reason for shortening prayers is travelling only; it is not permissible to shorten one’s prayers when not travelling. With regard to putting the prayers together, the reason for that is necessity and valid excuses. So if a person needs to do so, he may put prayers together when travelling, whether the journey is short or long.

The same applies to putting the prayers together in the event of rain and the like, or when one is sick and the like, and also for other reasons, because the aim is to relieve the ummah of hardship.

End quote from Majmoo‘ al-Fataawa (22/293).

And Allah knows best.

What you are saying is scientifically wrong, you talking as if you don't know the work of PPEs, if you wear PPE and perform ablution without first removing the PPE., then it has no purpose because you will infect yourself. Please talk like an educated person.

We told you you should stop marrying your girls at age 12, you said you are practising Islam and we don't have the right to tell you
We said you should stop giving birth like animals, you said prophet told you to do that
Now that the result of your actions have turned into problems, you want to give us the children in the name of one Nigeria?
We said you should only give birth to Children you can take care of, you said it is God that feeds, are we now God? Abi why are you bringing them to US. Since we told you to stop from your animalistic behaviour, and you refused, you should bear your problem.

May God punish all of you that made those innocent children to come into this life to suffer
