It continues as this morning people still protesting in the streets of abakpa nike enugu and ogbete markets as people still warn the president against the harm that will befall if there is a bomb in the east.

A 42-year-old mother of four, Joy Obioma, on
Thursday urged an Igando Customary Court in
Lagos to dissolve her 22-year-old marriage for what
she called her husband’s lunacy.

“My husband is not well, sometimes he can just go
naked and start breaking bottles, looking for who to
stab and everybody in the compound will be running
for their dear lives.

“There was a day he ran out of the house with a
cutlass looking for somebody’s hand to amputate,’’
she told the court.

Vanguard reports that the woman had filed a suit
seeking the dissolution of her marriage to Godfrey,
citing his lunatic acts.

Recalling her husband’s actions, she said: “One day
he (the husband) threatened to pour acid on me to
disfigure me and make me less attractive.

“He also threatened to burn down the house and
run away.”

The petitioner said she could not continue to live
with her husband for the alleged signs of madness.

Joy who alleged that her husband was a hemp
smoker, said: “This is the first thing he takes every
morning before food.

“Indian hemp is my husband’s first meal before
breakfast, he takes it around 5.00 a.m., and after
taking it, he will start to misbehave and pounce on
me.

“I have been paying our rent, the children’s school
fees with the support of my parents and siblings.’’
But the hubby, 49-year-old Godfrey, who denied the
allegations, said nobody could separate him and his
wife.

“My wife and I are made from `heaven’ to be
husband and wife, nobody can separate us,” he told
the court.”

He said he could not kill his wife but admitted
threatening her with some dangerous weapons.
Godfrey pleaded with the court to save the
marriage, saying “I am still very much in love with
her.’’

The President of the court, Mr Hakeem Oyekan,
fixed judgment in the case for July 22.

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has criticised Governor Ayodele Fayose over his recent comment on the bailout fund released by President Muhammadu Buhari to states, saying it is ingratitude taken too far.


Fayose said the bailout fund out of which Ekiti State benefited in billions of naira, is not a bailout but an amount due to Ekiti State from the federation account.

This is an irresponsible statement coming from a governor over which his colleague governors, labour unions and all well meaning Nigerians were full of gratitude to the President for the bailout. Fayose as usual, is up to one of his antics whenever money is involved.

His statement that Ekiti wage bill is N2.6billion has given him away as someone who wants to shortchange Ekiti people again. For the avoidance of doubt, the wage bill of Ekiti State workers is N1.6 billion naira and if we include subventions to higher institutions, pensions and political appointees’ salaries which is N600 million naira, everything amounts to N2.2 billion naira. We wonder where Fayose got the figure of N2.6 billion, Olatunbosun stated.

”We have said it many times that Mr. Fayose is paying some election contractors and he has not denied this categorically. His latest inflation of the wage bill of Ekiti State is to prepare the minds of Ekiti workers that he would not use the bailout fund to pay their backlog of salaries and allowances even though he lies to the outside world that he was not owing Ekiti workers.”

We are aware that Fayose is yet to pay Ekiti workers September 2014 salary, 2014 leave bonus, June salary, March to June co operative deduction, core subject and rural allowance from March to June while he has not released 4 months subventions to Ekiti State University. He is also owing pensioners a backlog of allowances as well as traditional rulers.

Fayose’s claim that the bailout fund is Ekiti State is entitlement is very unfortunate as the fund is not Ekiti State allocation from the federation account but a special intervention fund over which he was supposed to be grateful to the President. Fayose’s mentor, former President Jonathan did not give such bailout to any state in Nigeria.

This has revealed that Fayose has not stopped his hate campaign against the President even after electoral campaign is over. At any given opportunity, Fayose has continued to lambast and embarrass the President.

We also aware that Fayose is the coordinator of operation bring the Buhari-led Federal Government down where N400 million is contributed monthly by each PDP state for the devious project.

Fayose’s outbursts is ingratitude of the highest order which does not represent the collective opinion of Ekiti people who are always appreciative of good deeds. President Muhammadu Buhari should be praised for directing that all monies should be paid into the federation account from where the bailout money came from. This is a result of his anti-corruption drive.

The crack reported in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears to be widening as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abdulahi Jalo, has dissociated himself and his party from the statement made by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh deriding the appointment of Hajia Amina Bala Zakari as acting chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Jalo who spoke in a telephone interview Friday, insisted that Metuh made all the assertions on his own and denied that the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP met to discuss or take a position, as was presented by Metuh in his last Wednesday press briefing.

According to him, "As a loyal party member of the PDP, I am not aware of the resolve by the NWC to reject the appointment of Zakari as acting chairman of the electoral commission.

"When and where was that meeting held? It is not fair on the part of Metuh to just say something on behalf of the party without the knowledge of the party leadership and members of the NWC.

"It is not also right or legal for him to say that PDP has given 10-day ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari to produce his ministerial list.

"His statement as reported, to me, is his personal views and not that of the party. I wonder when and where those resolves were made."

Metuh had last Wednesday addressed a press conference where he asserted that the leadership of PDP rejected in its totality the appointment of Hajia Amina Zakari as acting chairman of INEC.

He alleged that President Buhari made the appointment based on sentiment and nepotism, alleging that the presidency planned to use her appointment to compromise the election tribunals in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Metuh, the public no longer had confidence and trust in INEC, saying Buhari appointed Zakari based on her very strong relationship with the presidency and a governor from the North-west region.

You could talk to your religious leader about everything. They could help.
Even the fellow members of your religious organisation, whether it's a church or a mosque, can also help you.
