[quote author=Omodadi2 post=64993150]I was interviewed again today(3rd time)
VO: why are you going to the US
To have my second child
VO: Have u travelled outside Nigeria before
Yes. In 2016 to have my first
VO: How long are you staying 3months
VO: Do you have the proper documentations this time? Yes I do, which one would you like to see
VO:Doctors correspondence and expenses I gave her all email communications, appointment confirmation, expenses sheet from doctor, my budget sheet of $20,100
VO: checked very well, and asked for financial cover Gave her Nigeria bank statement, US statement, payslips, employment letter from my office.
VO: checked through and said, sorry you are not eligible for the visa.
I am so sorry dear! This is why I prefer UK applications, there is no ambiguity! I can imagine how frustrated and angry you are right now. Please calm down, especially because of your precious little one.. I spot a few pointers like the other moniker. When you feel up to it, think deeply about previous interviews, especially the first one and then reflect on your last trip. Anything you can think of could be useful in solving this enigma.. Beats me really. Im sorry you have to go through this in your pregnant state. |

goobyparks: Good evening @Dwebb55 . I'm new here, don't even know where and hw to pm here. I have a relative in Norfolk so I'm searching for hospitals around Norfolk, Hampton, Newport New, Chesapeake & co . All the OBGYN I contacted were asking that I send medical record via fax before I can even correspond with Dr. Some even asked I send it before they give price and then Dr will know whether to accept me or nt. I will be due in Nov. but hope to travel 5 or 6wks before EDD ie @ 33 or 34wks. - Do you know any obgyn Dr. and hospitals around this axis that are affordable and easily accepts foreign patients? I'm not sure there's a way around sending your medical history.. if you're registered at a hospital here in naija and have been attending antenatal then just request for your medical history. When you get it, send the fax. Or simply scan it to your host ( if you're gonna stay with family/ friends) and they'll get it done. |

No I did not research about the US requirements, i tried hiring a nanny in the US some months ago but that hourly rate no just gel at all.....does it mean people that travel with their nanny's have to comply with US work policies? @:sugar, that domestic worker route is rather difficult now if you ask me. My sister who lives in the US (diplomat) tried this route for a potential nanny for her kids it was back and forth for a long time..embassy kept denying. This also happened to a friend.. pls don't buy the tickets you need loads of research and first hand info on how to circumvent their "reluctance" to issue visas to domestic workers. Check your agreement; the wages, hours, etc. If you will reapply school the nanny properly even if she will be using an interpreter. |

olajay5: Dear all,
Following the scarcity of Nigerian passport from abroad, is it possible to get the Nigerian passport for my LO in Nigeria and take it along with me to the US for her use to return to Nigeria? Has anybody tried this option? I read people now find it difficult to process emergency travel certificate (ETC), VOA too seems not to be readily available unless you know someone to help you out (as @desouls has helped many here). Quite a number of people are asking for @desouls contact while some are getting frustrated.
Please can @desouls give a step-by-step guide to be taken to process the VOA without necessarily calling for his/her contact anytime anybody wants to process the VOA.
Thank you |

TWoods: Yes you can, but will mostly be ignored. If you did not feel fit to fly then why did you make the attempt to fly to the US in the first place? If no doctor would dare, then you just admitted that the "fit to fly" certification with which you boarded the flight to the US was a fraud. We cannot simply continue to hold other nations to ransom over our own selfish needs. No time for pointless and biased arguments |

TWoods: To be honest, she really was not in a position to make demands. You cannot challenge a decision made by the CBP and they are not legally obligated to entertain your demands. I do not agree, that's not entirely true. I may not contest not being granted entry but i definitely can ask to be certified fit to fly as a pregnant woman. That is MY opinion. There was a related case years back, of course no doctor would dare! |

If I were in her shoes I would have demanded to have a doctor certify me fit to fly! After all, the one she must have gotten from nigeria was only valid for the outbound trip.. SMH some comments on this story are really sad and irritating! Oh well.. Im just gonna jump and pass. Austine2020: @Sophiamax16, its just a pity that people will do everything right as they could and still be deported back,.because judging by this story, they did all they could do starting from using their visas for the purpose it was issued to them, then writing the embassy to inform them of their plans to give birth with the visa afterwards, having sufficient Cash as they said and even paying their hospital bill in advance.. its just bad Luck or may be the CBP officer woke up angry with left hand,Lol. They spent their hard earned money for nothing,.But thank God that his wife and Baby is fine. All in all, thats why people are advised to avoid Houston & Chicago POE's Because what works for one might not work for another especially in this Trump Era. |

drafrican: After you have ur birth certificate (I did 2) For the American passport I downloaded the form and filled them don't sign you take it to a notary public at DHL office or I think regular post office with all required documents and a notary public officer will be there and you and hubby (I Donno d process if hubby is absent) sign in his presence and he attaches his signature with ur passports photocopies and pix then you head to Howard county library and pay for expedited had my baby's pix taken there too. For the Nigerian one you go to the website note how much and what name to address the postal/money order to,there is a place to write ur baby's name then we sent it expedited.they sent us a mail when they received it but for my friend they delayed so she headed to the consulate with the photocopy and all documents speak Yoruba well and pay for expedited you wud get it same day or next,if ur impatient u can get a visa ,the American passport took the longest I don't know if this is still relevant but it might help someone else.. the American passport has an easier option.. All I did was call passport services and provide my travel date ( must not be more than 2 weeks ). I booked an appointment at the regional passport agency (washington because I stayed at maryland) . I went to the passport agency with DH and LO on said date and got the passport same day. All you need is proof of travel ( your ticket). Usually they would say come back next day or two but we appealed to the guy who attended to us that we needed to get a visa to travel.( we had the naija passport already oh,that was just to fast track things). I filled the form online ,saved and printed and took it with me to the passport office. Hope this helps someone! |

So I finally borrowed the energy to pay my "gbese" to -NLders.. I had my LO 2.30 am 12th August at Inova Fairfax hospital in Virginia via VD. I was induced at 39 weeks 2 days because amniotic fluid was a Little above mark and baby was small for gestational age.. I was in labor for about 32 hours in total (active labour was about 20 hours) Was discharged the next evening after series of tests done on little madam who had traces of jaundice. Pediatrician discharged her after repeated tests showed blood bilirubin was normal ( skin test showed above average levels). I received excellent care, the hospital looked like a five star hotel..the service was impeccable and flawless.. Hospital fee 4600$ Doctors fee 2651 These fees represent 50% discounts which is no longer valid as discount has been adjusted to 25%..(please do the math) Labs tests 315$ ( had some tests such as ogtt done in naija before I travelled) Ultrasound level 2 480$ In-hospital paediatrician 380$ Follow up visit at Tysons corner paeds 312$ Lab tests for baby 52.43$ Epidural 1280$ ( had to take an emergency decision on epidural when induction pain wanted to kill me!) Hearing test 119.50$ Birth certificate arrived 2 weeks after, SSN arrived at3 weeks. Booked appointment at passport agency in Washington DC,expedited fee is 165$. Hubby came in Oct 3 and we went straight to the passport agency. Picked up passport same day.. note that to qualify for appointment at a regional passport agency you must show proof of travel not more than 10 days away or so. Got naija passport at naija embassy in DC for 132$. On the 6th of October I flew from Washington DC via Istanbul to naija. Bought baby's ticket at airport for 84$.. Got to naija on the 7th.. Thanks to everyone who helped in one way or another from the point of visa application and interview to poe by giving candid advice and sharing their experiences. One thing I'm sure of is I'm not going back to the DC/Virginia/Maryland axis to have another baby..too damn expensive! By the way prices of everything in naija has gone up by at least 50%. O ga oo |

nefertitiram: Yer, bt it's not bacteria, it's an animal parasite. Dats y I took interest. Staph is bacteria, am clueless when it comes to those. Psedomonas sp(likely aeruginosa ) is one of those refered to as atypical organisms(its bacteria that has features resembling viruses as well). Truth is if you marry the reviews with the incident, the answer usnt far fetched. Level of cleanliness and attention to detail is quite low. My point- saving money is not always 'saving money' .. Some things cant be bought. E.g. life. |

Dwebb55: As per sending, I just meant that Maryland hospitals are extremely expensive compared to other states. I also took the liberty of checking on the reviews of Prince George county hospital and I'm alarmed. Not to get you apprehensive but please find out more about the hospital. A lot of the reviews are negative and there is even a news story this month about their NICU (See link. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/deadly-bacteria-found-in-neonatal-unit-at-prince-georges-hospital/2016/08/09/e0b5b8fc-5e54-11e6-9d2f-b1a3564181a1_story.html)
Please find out more about them biko! True that! I had my baby last week friday. Same week it was all over the news that a bug killed 3 babies in NICU at PG hospital. My sister couldn't mention it to me all the while i was at hospital. The reviews are bad, and if a bug can enter their NICU then its a big deal. I am staying at maryland but went all the way to virginia to birth. We cant be spending all this plenty money and not bring the result home.. God forbid! |

48 hours starts counting the minute you check in and by 12 midnight that day, the first 24 hours has gone. That's why people complain of being overcharged by hospital.
Finally Dr F got to me by 10.30 am today and I had my very beautiful baby 12.25 pm.weighs 3.57 kg. So I have forgiven him and hope he changes for the better.

Dwebb55: good morning guys,
Please I need the contacts/details of anyone that gave birth with Inova Alexandria hospital in Virginia. As stated earlier, the cost of child birth in Maryland is scary and I'm switching to Inova in Alexandria, VA as their prices seem more friendly. I will appreciate hospital costs(package for mother and child), epidural costs, pediatrician, anesthesiologist and doctors fees- in fact the full works. Hope for a response ASAP! Hi..check my previous posts. I'm billed to give birth anytime at the Fairfax branch. Inova bills are pretty much standard, that is, same across branches. Pm me so I can email you the cost sheet. It wouldn't hurt to put a call through to their obgyn preadmissions though. |

You placed an ad for those interested in giving birth in US both here and in Health section on the 12th of Jan this year.

The same day you placed an ad here offering everything from Dr', transport, accommodation and visa and attached your BBM pin
I will post it here if you keep denying this.
