It's official, Black Panther has found it's director, the same guy that got Sylvester Stallone an acting award, yup. If you have watched Creed then you should be excited, awesome choice.
Also someone did a high res image of that BP mask and it's great. The level of detail on the helmet is amazing, such intricate tribal markings. I know Guykhena wasn't a fan maybe this will change his mind

March 18!! Save the date folks (turns out that BvS/DD rumour was trash) Weird to see Netflix hyping up Daredevil as their prime offer. The mcu has really come a long way

Yup Netflix is now available worldwide. Great news! Streaming has come to stay in Nigeria. Now we need the data providers to make it affordable. The expensive data subscription charges are the last remaining obstacle

It's like DD season 2 is coming out the same day as BvS, March 25th. Like say Marvel dey find DC trouble oo. Unconfirmed for now but it seems like they want fans to compare the two, and DD has an advantage cos it's 13 hours while BvS will be 3 hours at most.
Wise move? Whatcha think?

I don watch this trailer die, this better be rated R, I don't think I'd be able to cope with BS PG-13 or 12A. No child should be in my cinema when I watch this.
Yes it's R rated, bloody good news.
So glad it's coming out soon in Feb, so I don't have to wait long. After that it's BvS in March, DD season 2 in April, Civil War in May. Agent Carter and AoS should both be done by May so then I'll catch up on em. X-men in may too so that's a busy month. Suicide Squad in August, Luke Cage in October. Doctor Strange in November and the year is complete!

I know we're strictly a marvel thread but what do you guyz think about that X men apocalypse trailer ?
Honestly I don't know what to think. One one level the trailer left me disappointed. Apocalypse is an iconic villain and I was looking forward to how they'd portray him until....quite simply he's not big enough! Granted they show him growing at one point but still. He' s a tech wizard, where's all his tech gear? And his horsemen, why did they use Storm, Magneto and Psylocke? Those guys were never his horsemen in the comics and if they wanted to change things there are more interesting X-men they could use, like Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, or Rogue. Oh and while they were changing things it didn't occur to them to change Angel. Angel is possibly the lamest horseman ever but no they said fine, we'll keep him. Grrr
So I'm not happy, but still excited. The Cgi looks great, Sansa from game of thrones is Jean grey.... Yes!, Nightcrawler looks dope, Xavier is bald, Havok and Cyclops apparently find each other, Storm has a mohawk as she should, Quicksilver isn't dead! I like the secret cults angle, Just hope the story is cool and they don't find a lazy way for the X-men to beat Apocalypse. This trailer convinced me it won't be as good as Civil War or BvS, or Deadpool for that matter (that was one dope trailer) but it looks different and that's something I guess
Also where on earth is Wolverine?

TWS has my fav credits...fits the tone of the movie perfectly. My fav score would be Gotg, of course. I also love how Marvel have made mid/post credit scenes their trademark. It's little things like this that make a franchise great. Just look at how the Bond films turned the simple matter of soundtracks and opening sequences into legendary events

And why will Marvel gamble on black panther as the franchise leader when they have the rights to spiderman ?
I'll watch doomwars if it ever makes it to the screen, but even that won't work without dead pool,Xmen and Doom.
They will probably reboot the whole universe after something not every obscure movie will be GotG.
They've been gambling ever since the mcu began. Iron Man was a gamble, Avengers, Guardians, Ann-Man.... The brand has proved time and again that all a successful hero needs is good marketing and target population. Let's face it RDJ is getting old and they need to diversify the brand, make it appealing to different demographics than the usual comic book nerd. They need a White face, Black Face and Female Face, the put it in crude terms. Spidey or Strange as white, BP as black of course. The female face is more problematic but there's still time, scarlet witch may live up to it or whoever they cost as Captain Marvel.
Funny you should mention Doomwars cos it'd be perfect for the movie or sequel. Baron Zero can replace Doom and The Avengers take the place of X-men. Also don't rule out a future where Marvel get X-men and FF back yet
TV/MoviesRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 8:29am On Dec 06, 2015
Black Panther!
Forget the silly cover and headline of the entertainment weekly story and focus instead on the fact that Black Panther is finally getting his chance in the spotlight! This is a big deal cos Marvel are pushing him as the wild card in Civil War. In the comics, Spider-Man had that honour, but it's BP's time to shine. The last hero they really marketed this way was Iron Man back in 2008, understandable cos he was not that popular then and they needed him to sell the mcu, cos they had no X-men etc . 7 years later Iron Man is the face of Marvel....no! not like Randy Orton was the face of the WWE.
So as the mcu enters it's third phase, as the old Avengers - Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow. .. prepare to retire and handover to the new guys... Vision, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Bucky, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, as Thanos comes to end it all, observe the changing tides. I predict Black Panther will take Iron Man's position as tech guru and rich uncle, Bucky/Falcon will continue Steve's legacy, Scarlet Witch will take over Black Widow 's role which is essentially show some cleavage to distract the bad guys and do witchy widowy stunts. Ant-Man will become the underrated member of the team, just like Hawkeye was, except he'll be more useful. Doctor Strange will be the Nick Fury, the guy who looks into the future and knows when shit's about to happen, who gets them all together, and organises mystical methods of transportation for the crew. Either that or he'll be the Hulk of the team, who does all the heavy lifting but without the biceps. I don't see Vision or Spider-Man as long term Avengers members. No idea what Captain Marvel will do, presumably she'll spend most of her time in outer space, like the Guardians. Might be wrong who knows?
Well what is certain? Only this, Black Panther is about to get very very important so you'd better sit up and take notice cos the King is coming
P.S To those who say the mcu is dead, dying, running out of stories or whatever, I say out of this - you ain't seen nothing yet. The mcu can afford to lose iron man, cap, Hulk, Thor....everybody can die at once if God forbid Thanos decides and things will continue cos you know Marvel is awesome like that cos plan A- new Avengers I listed above take over, plan B- Marvel elevates the Defenders, dem DD... And they take over, plan C- Marvel says screw it, gets X-men and FF back and they take over or you see where this is going. Marvel can afford it. That other puny cbm company we don't recognize here, they simply can't. If, God forbid the fans grow tired of Batman/Superman, who's left? WW, MM, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Shazam... Err that's all. Oh wait Teen Titans! Uh... Oh wait Arrow...bruh that's bottom of the barrel. So dear marvel haters and mcu trolls, please wait till the dceu is in it's 3rd phase and then, maybe we can discuss as equals.
I rest my case

The Russo Brothers did amazing interview where they discuss the trailer and how it relates to Civil War
The major quote for me “The theme of the movie is betrayal and it's a very powerful theme,” reveals Joe Russo. “The movie’s
extremely emotional. It hinges on that emotion, and on a
very personal level we didn’t want the movie to become
about politics and people arguing about platitudes"

“When people leave the theatre, they’re going to be
arguing about who was right in the movie, whether it was
Tony, or whether it was Cap,” says Joe Russo. “Tony has
a very legitimate argument in the movie that’s a very adult
point of view, about culpability, about the Avengers’
responsibility to the world, and the world’s right to have
some sort of control over the Avengers."

Nothing special! DC rules! grin
Lol let's leave that one for another day. What I can say tho is after comparing the BvS trailer with this, it's clear how different they both are.
BvS had an epic feel, story about two heroes who distrust each other but come to realize they're on the same side, after duly punching and kicking for the fans to cheer. Then they'll probably unite and take down the bad guy, enter Lex Luthor and whatever surprise he has in store, cue Wonder Woman and Aquaman to show up..... Basically an origin tale for Justice League

Captain America: Civil War on the other hand...this is a conflict that has been a long time coming, foreshadowed in basically every mcu movie leading up to this, we love these guys, seen them fight together over and over, and now it's all falling apart. There's no mission to save the world, the world has already been saved multiple times, now they have to save themselves.

Watching this trailer felt emotional, I didn't get teared up watching the BvS trailer, felt like super guys flexing muscles for the sake of it. Take away the action and this is way better, makes more sense, better background and development

So yeah in summary, Marvel rules cheesy

My fears for this movie not making Cap the main focus due to the presence of the other Avengers has just been lifted off.
This is pretty much a Cap shii, damn, that last scene though.
Word! Cap is the focus which is important so it doesn't feel like an Avengers movie. That last scene broke my heart you can see that they're really reluctant to fight one another until their choices are narrowed down and they find themselves on different sides. They didn't even have to show Ant-Man, Vision or Spider-Man and I'm already hyped! Really glad the Bucky/Cap storyline is coming full circle.
Black Panther' costume tho, nailed it

That's the thing some folks don't understand, JJ is certainly the darkest MCU entry so far, some folks only equate extreme violence & nudity with dark, not as bone crunching when compared to DD, but it was certainly very real. I never thought I'd ever loathe a character played by Tennanty Goodness (that's David Tennant to the rest of the world & the 10th Doctor to Whovians ie Doctor Who fans). Kilgrave is certainly the darkest villain, he just does things simply because he can, then he justifies it in his head and lays blame elsewhere, especially since he gets people to do the dirty work. See how he & Jessica remembered those 18 seconds very differently.

Now, JJ was certainly slow, but it did have a few things going on for it, the actors gave a top notch performance, even the annoying ones - Robyn, you've no idea how many times I wanted to kill you. Reuben, I'm sure you thought you were adorable, but you're kinda creepy. Another thing was relationships between the characters. Trish & Jessica had such a strong sibling bond, despite how much Jessica tried to break it. The handling of being a survivor of traumatic events, usually due to Kilgrave's control. They did not sugarcoat it at all. Yes, talking about it helped, but it didn't magically solve it.

The before and after effects of Kilgrave is really a sight to behold. Look at Simpson, look at Trish, look at Hope, look at Malcolm, geez look at the guy whose coat he took. Dude messed up Jessica so bad, she turned from a slacker who liked to drink to someone who had to drink to drown her guilt and nightmares. Even Hogarth, the HBIC even got dropped a peg or two, although that woman is still as calculating as ever.

In fact JJ can be seen as a slow burn noir drama that has superheroes in it. Yes, it was a tad bit odd that a show that had two humans with superhuman strength didn't have much fighting in it, and that most of the fights consisted of throwing folks like frisbees...But, it certainly had its really violent moments. DD might beat you into a pulp, that has to live on a liquid diet or life support or through rigorous physical therapy, but Kilgrave would make you kill yourself or get someone else to kill you, while both of you're trying your hardest not to do so. Or he could just tell you to stand over there forever. Even if you actually survived an encounter with him, you're still left with the mental trauma, that maybe you'd start to think you were better off dead.
Well said. JJ I can recommend to people that don't ordinarily like superhero shows. Kilgrave is probably the most vile villain so far, nothing redemptive or intriguing just sick sick sick. Even Fisk had my empathy but The Purple Man... Just wanted to see him burn. I like so many things from the show, like how there almost no cliffhangers, takes a lot for a drama to be interesting without relying on that. The entire supporting cast, awesome. No one dimensional characters, everyone has depth and back story. I really wished they had fixed the action and pacing issues cos this show would have been a classic. Now it's just great
I want to see Luke Cage now, if DD was the action fest and JJ the thriller.....curious to see what he's about. It'll be set in Harlem so maybe the first Mcu all black movie. Very excited since I heard a lot of my fav black actors are gonna be in it, like Remy Denton from House of Cards. I'm sure the producers of that show will look at DD/JJ and say we have to raise the bar. Both shows felt unique and special and if they can make Luke Cage and Iron Fist even half that, the Netflix corner of the Mcu will be the best.
TV/MoviesRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 12:39am On Nov 23, 2015
Well... Wow. I feel like dancing, just finished the entire season 1 of Jessica Jones! Watched the whole thing start to finish and I wouldn't recommend bingeing it. I rushed through the season 1 of DD so I thought I'd do the same for JJ cos they're both Netflix shows right? Well wrong. Bad idea
Two reasons for this. One JJ is slow, I mean the series takes it's bloody time to grab you. Episode 1 was nice, 2 OK, 3 alright...like that. By episode four I was getting tired, where is the thriller we were promised? I almost gave up and thank God I didn't. The other thing is the show is pretty dark and heavy, I mean some psycho shit. 13 hours of psycho shit is not healthy. So if you intend to view the while thing in one sitting, things might get rough. Maybe watch episodes 1-4, then chill cos things only get better from there
JJ is great. Solid story, great acting, great. Watching it made me realise how lame some scenes in DD were. Everything in this show is consistent. Jessica killed it, Luke Cage killed it, Kilgrave killed it, Trish killed it....you get the idea, murder. Shit felt real, like no superhero show but real life. Jessica's not a princess, Kilgrave is not a demon, just people.
Really impressed, I want another season, want more Alias Investigations. One word... Kilgrave. Sick bastard. I wonder what kinda villain they'll bring for the Defenders to take down cos Kilgrave and Fisk were top notch villains. The bad guy of the Defenders has to be really bad gaan
I prefer JJ season 1 to DD, was more personal and relatable. Pissed cos a little more and this show coulda been the best series of the year. It had everything, just fell short and I don't know how but they really tried. Maybe the action was lacking a bit, and the slow pace I mentioned, it can get boring ish. Small matter tho, great show, loved it and you should watch it. Just don't watch it with your parents
