Wtf. Man you are mentally ill.
Omo n'Oba n'Edo is the full title. In short it is Oba.
I have already said this. You are pretending to not have seen it. It is common practice in Edo language to have mixed words like Netete, IGBINOBA (Igbi n'Oba), Iye n'Ochwa...

dumb ass how can only oba be removed for short in the whole sentence. Ur example igbi n’oba came out as igbinoba as short which is logic. So omo n’oba n’edo a full word just happens to be just oba for short a word that coincidentally means king in Yoruba. Let’s say it were even true that I believe u which I don’t not in the slightest cuz u brothers are huge liars it still shows that the word oba doesn’t mean shit in ur language and it’s just short for the full title. Meanwhile in Yoruba we have oba, otunba title which has existed for centuries all over every Yoruba land. Oja oba in every Yoruba land too. Local ruler of a particular land are called baale. So tell me how did yoruba borrow the word oba from benin according to u liars in the 1950 and there is the so many words relating to oba that go back centuries.

Did you even read what you are quoting ?
On it I posted a proof that you Yoruba copied the word from the Oba of Benin whom is the only legitimate holder of the title.

What does king mean in English ?
What does roi mean in French ?
And which precolonial Yoruba dictionary are you quoting about the meaning of the word "Oba" ?

What does Oba mean in Edo language:

The emperor of Benin empire .
lies oba doesn’t even have a meaning in edo language as most of ur brother have admitted several times here what u have is n’oba. And oba doesn’t mean emperor in edo cuz to be an emperor u have to have an empire. When Benin was still a kingdom in early stage the king was still called omo n’oba n’edo so stop lying. N’oba means shining and that’s not a name for an emperor. How can Benin be legitimate owner of a title that has no meaning in ur language. In Yoruba oba is king. Title relating to oba is otunba or u Benin go claim we adopt otunba title too. In oyo past traditions those who are buried with the king are called abobaku. Did we borrow it from Benin too. Get it into ur thick skull. Oba is yoruba n’oba is edo. U only borrowed oba. Shikena.

What exactly does Benin have to do with this discussion ?
You Yoruba really like to mention Benin in every situation.

The emperor of Benin empire is titled:
OMO N'OBA N'EDO. Oba in short.

In the precolonial era, Yoruba chiefs didn't refer to themselves as "Oba". Rather they referred to themselves as ooni, alafin...
In the colonial era Yoruba chiefs started naming themselves in the following manner: "ooni of ife, sir adeyemi", "alafin of oyo, sir adetoye"...
Notice the introduction of two non Yoruba words: "of" and "sir".
The "sir" is a word from English nobility which the yorubas borrowed from the British in order to add some prestige to their titles.

However, later in the colonial era, the Yoruba dropped the word "sir" and replaced it with the word "Oba", yet an other non Yoruba word.

The word Oba belongs to Benin empire, it is how Benin empire calls it's emperor as witnessed by European visitors in the middle ages.

Basically, Yoruba copy other tribes a lot:
2) emir from Fulani
3) "sir" from the British
1) Oba from Benin

Even some Benin traditional swords were copied by the Yoruba.

You guys like to imitate other people's cultures, face this fact and live on.
ur brother open this thread dumbass claiming ogboni belongs to Benin after he lost he also tried to claim the word oba. Oba does not have any meaning in ur language so how can it be urs.

All this dumb Benin boys. They have admitted that oba doesn’t mean shit in their language. What’s they actually have is something called n’oba which means shining.and in full it’s omo n’oba n’edo which means the one who shines for edo. So it’s obvious n’oba and oba are not the same thing. So why are Benin using oba when it doesn’t mean shit in their language is a million dollar question Benin cannot answer. Oba means king in Yoruba language. Otunba a very well known Yoruba title for centuries means king right hand man. Every market around the king palace is always called oja oba all over every Yoruba land. In oyo past tradition those that are buried with the king are called abobaku, and so many more. But according to thick skulked Benin a word that has meaning in Yoruba and other words with related meaning was borrowed from edo that the word has no meaning to them. It’s ever obvious who is lying here.

eweka11 was the one who said ewka1 came from ife....

Ok make it simple our oba, oba eweka wanted the benins to join the political part calked yorubas to aviod been a minority but things got sour when yorubas began tribalism we edos

Nigga i still want you to find ife or oromiyan from benin old text recorded by oromiyan or any relationship between benin-ife or benin-oyo

Yoruba have 1000 of different history having different narrative do you expect me to believe one or all

Samuel johson wrote that benin came directly from Oduduwa, oromiyan was the younger brother to the oba of benin and oromiyan wat quest was all in the north and he never ventured to benin

But your says oromiyan birthed oba of benin and called igodomigodo people lle ibinu

I cant just pick the one that suit you and believe

So to make this easier i told you to prove benin-ife connection first
dumbass do u have any prove that ur oba lied and for political reason. And there was no political party called Yoruba. There were many tribes like uhrobo, ijaw and co in the western region. Why didn’t they lie too about connection to yoruba. If he did lie cuz of western region there is no more western region so why is ur current king still lying.

In English, ruler and king are different words but used in relation to each other.
Oba means ruler in Yoruba.. it’s never meant king only in Benin it meant king.
In the Yoruba contest is like calling Ogunwusi “Ruler Ogunwusi”.

The Edo word for ruler is Ogie.. word for king is Oba.

"Uwa" in Yoruba means power, glory, grandeur, honour, etc.

What does it mean in ther language?

Perhaps similar meanings.

"Ade" means crown in Yoruba language.

It probably means the same thing in their language.

But when it comes to Oba

"Oba" means king in Yoruba language.

But in Edo language, "Oba" means "shine-shine" even though it's only their king who is so addressed.

Isn't the inferiority complex obvious??
thanks for the interpretation. With that said I wonder what it means in edo language. Edo said there is nothing called oba that it is omo noba nedo. The child that shine. First of all a ridiculous title second of all who was this first child. How can u call a king a child. Now all of a sudden oba has meaning again and the meaning is shining. Which one should we believe. So does it mean their king is called “shinning ewuare” how does that relate to a king.

The words ade, uwa, egbe, all have meanings in both Edo and Yoruba languages.. If tomorrow Edo uses any of these words as a powerful title, I bet the yorubas will immediately adopt the title too and start claiming its a Yoruba word only and Edo borrowed it.. we know what you guys are capable of..
ade in Yoruba is crown what does it mean in edo. Egbe in Yoruba is like society or community I don’t know what u mean by uwa but if it’s iwa it’s character. With that said oba means king in Yoruba but in ur language it has no meaning so how does what u wrote make sense.

if there was no connection how then did we borrowed the word oba from u. Why does ur oba claim his ancestors came from Ife. Why does he say he is number 40 king cuz oranmiyan was number cuz I don’t seem to remember Yoruba putting a gun to his head to say it. Why does ur edo son egrhaveba who wrote a book where his source according to him is the king and chiefs and lot of prominent families in edo wrote that ur king head is buried in ife and ur king came from ife. even if you have the word Oba in your Yoruba language, you never used it as a title for your kings till after Benin kings started using it.. You copied it from Benin stop denying..
Oba is a benin word even if it doesn't mean king, it means shining in Benin.. just like Alaafin or Ooni doesn't mean king in yoruba language but a title adopted by your rulers.
u are the one who is defeated. And it’s not if we have the word in Yoruba language we definitely have it and it means king. Itsekiri called their king ogiamen king of the water. According to edo before oba dynasty their king was called ogiso king of the sky.
