PoliticsBREAKING: Boko Haram Attacks Kill More Than 50 In Borno State by Monimatic(op): 6:23pm On Feb 10, 2016
SaharaReporters has learned that two separate
attacks by terrorist group Boko Haram have killed
more than fifty people since Monday, according to
preliminary estimates

Sources speaking with SaharaReporters confirmed that the
two assaults by Boko Haram took place on Monday
February 8th and yesterday on February 9th.
According to sources speaking with our correspondent,
female suicide bombers murdered forty-five people and
injured dozens yesterday in a Borno IDP camp.
SaharaReporters could not obtain official numbers of dead
or injured at the time of publication.
Boko Haram terrorists also raided communities in the
Damboa Local Government Area (LGA) on Monday, killing
at least seven people. News of this attack is just surfacing
because of poor phone network in that area.

Buhari Returns To Nigeria After UK
Vacation And Medicals; To Embark
On Three-Nation Tour Of Egypt,
Saudi Arabia And Qatar

President Muhammadu Buhari is on his way
back to Nigeria from the United Kingdom
following an abrupt five-day vacation he
began in London last week.

SaharaReporters sources said his Presidential jet departed
London for Abuja at exactly 13.45hrs GMT.

The President had abruptly embarked on the vacation after
participating in a Syria donor conference in London.
SaharaReporters reported that that his handlers had merely
inserted him into the Syria conference as a cover for a
medical visit to his doctors. It is unclear why his healthcare
is shrouded in secrecy.
The President stayed at an apartment in the Knightsbridge
area of London, but sent the bulk of his aides back to
Nigeria. Our sources say that following meetings with his
doctors over two days, he rested in the apartment until
today.
Since leaving Nigeria, there have been speculations about
his being sighted in Saudi Arabi, but SaharaReporters can
confirm that the President did not leave London until today.
He is expected to be in Nigeria for the next two weeks, but
will resume his foreign tour on February 24, if everything
goes as planned, with a three-nation state visit to Egypt,
Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
While in Saudi Arabia, President Buhari is expected to
perform the Umrah, as well as visit Makka and Madina.

PoliticsCourt Renews Arrest Warrant On Tompolo, Orders Security Agencies To Produce Him by Monimatic(op): 1:50pm On Feb 08, 2016
A Federal High Court in Lagos, Monday, dismissed an objection by Government Ekpemupolo (also known as Tompolo) to his arrest brought and renewed a warrant order it had earlier issued on the former militant leader.
Judge Ibrahim Buba said the application by Mr. Ekpemupolo’s lawyer, Tayo Oyetibo, urging the court to set aside an order of substituted service was “misconceived, misplaced, and misapplicable.”
“Up till today the first defendant has refused to honour the invitation of the court to appear before it,” the judge said.
“The whole essence of service is to make the person aware of charges facing him.‎ By bringing an application before the court, the first defendant had become aware of the charge before the court.”
Mr. Buba adjourned till February 19th and ordered all the relevant security agencies to produce Mr. Ekpemupolo.
Mr. Ekpemupolo and Patrick Akpobolokemi, the former Director‎ General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, are accused of a multibillion naira fraud at the agency.
Others charged alongside the duo are Global West Vessel Specialist Ltd, Odimiri Electrical Ltd, Kime Engozu, Boloboere Property and Estate Limited, Rex Elem, Destre Consult Ltd, Gregory Mbonu, and Captain Warredi Enisuoh.

Festus Keyamo, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said all the accused persons reported to the Commission’s office by 7 a.m. on Monday ahead of their court appearance, except Mr. Ekpemupolo.
The former militant leader had continued to ignore the court’s order for his appearance.
However, unlike previous court sittings, he sent a lawyer to represent him on Monday.
Mr. Oyetibo, a senior advocate of Nigeria, announced his intention to challenge the manner in which the prosecution effected the court’s order for substituted service on his client.
“On January 12, this court made a specific order for substituted service on the first defendant to be pasted on the gate of No.1 Agbamu street in Warri, Delta State,” said Mr. Oyetibo.
“In purported execution of that order, the prosecution deposed an affidavit of service on 14th January and exhibited a photograph of the premises to which the service was pasted.
“The building shown in the photograph is a completely different property.
“The question is whether the prosecution has carried out the order made by this court. If the answer is yes, then we can proceed with the hearing of this matter.”
The judge, however, made it clear he would not entertain any attempt to delay the trial, adding that the new Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 had ushered in “change.”
He dismissed Mr. Oyetibo’s application.
Mr. Keyamo had earlier told the judge that Mr. Ekpemupolo’s continued shunning of the court as well as EFCC’s invitations were an affront on the judiciary.
He also urged Mr. Oyetibo to sign an undertaking that he would produce his client at the next adjourned date, a request the latter flatly turned down.
“It is the duty of the prosecution to produce the defendant, not his counsel.”
Speaking to journalists after the court’s sitting, Mr. Keyamo said Mr. Ekpemupolo can no longer be issuing directives “from the comforts of his bedroom.”

“His lawyer refused to an undertaking to produce him in court, so everybody is avoiding Tompolo,” Mr. Keyamo said.
“So the security forces should make sure they produce him before the court, and that is the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Inspector General of Police, the Director of State Security Services, the EFCC, and all other…. They should produce him before the court.
“This is the Federal Republic of Nigeria, no one person, I repeat, no one person is above the law. It’s not possible. They should produce him.”

PoliticsDSS Files New Charge Against Dasuki, Says He Left The Army Without Resigning by Monimatic(op): 6:15pm On Feb 07, 2016
The Department of State Service (DSS) had filed new
charges against the embattled former National Security
Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, stating that he left the Nigerian
Army with proper resignation.
Dasuki who is currently enmeshed in corrupt dealings and
diversion of $2.1 billion meant for purchase of arms for the
Nigerian Armed Forces will be held by the DSS.
His new ordeal was revealed by Rotimi Jacobs at the last
hearing of the suit against the retired Colonel at Federal
Capital Territory, FCT High Court last Thursday.
Jacobs had attributed the refusal of government to set the
former NSA free, in spite of the bail he has been granted by
three different courts to this military past.
The prosecuting counsel had told the court that Dasuki was
a fugitive, having ran away from the Army without proper
resignation.
Jacobs added that the ex-NSA is being currently held by the
Department of State Service (DSS) on alleged breach of
army service rule.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria who is the counsel to
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the trial of
Dasuki on alleged money laundering, told Justice Husseini
Baba Yusuf that Dasuki was being detained by DSS in spite
of the bail granted him by the judge because of his past in
the military.
Jacobs specifically told the court that Dasuki went on an
exile for seven years and that during the period he allegedly
breached the army service rules.
But Ahmed Raji, Dasuki lead counsel disputed the claims.
Jacobs in a statement published on PRNigeria on Sunday
said his client legally left the Army in 1994 and his exit in
the military was officially gazetted by the Federal
government through the former Head of State, General
Abdulsalami Abubakar in 1999.
Raji (SAN) therefore claimed that the allegation was a
fallacy and a concocted lie to confuse the court as the
prosecution has no answer to the well-grounded objection
raised by the defence.
The lawyer claimed that “the allegation of fugitive against
Dasuki cannot hold water on stand in the face of the law in
view of the official gazette of the Federal Government that
confirmed his retirement from the military.
“It is curious that the prosecution counsel who initially
claimed ignorance of the reason behind the denial of bail is
now coming up with these excuses… I am tempted to
believe that my learned friend Mr. Rotimi Jacob SAN must
be genuinely mixing-up facts or mistake of identity.”
The lawyer further added that: “The allegation is baseless,
unwarranted and malicious because his exit was in the
gazette of the Federal government. We accordingly urge
those holding Dasuki in the custody in flagrant disobedience
to the court order that granted him bail to have a rethink and
respect the rule of law.”
Meanwhile PRNigeria, a website usually used by
government agencies and military for dissemination of
information said it gathered that former military dictator,
late General Sani Abacha held Dasuki in contempt and
marked him down for persecution, when he (Dasuki) opened
up his mind on the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential
election and that the winner of the election, late MKO Abiola
be installed as Nigerian President.
“Dasuki was among the officer who confronted Late Sani
Abacha and insisted that MKO Abiola be freed and allowed
to become President over the June 12, 1993 President
election. This led to the premature retirement of Dasuki and
other officers in 1994.
“The persecution that followed forced him into exile where
he joined forces with other patriotic Nigerians to claim for
the return of democracy in Nigeria.
“Some top politicians in the current administration also fled
into exile to sustain campaigns for the enthronement of
democracy. Dasuki and others were declared wanted by the
Abacha’s police.
PR Nigeria however noted in an official Gazette No 33
Volume 86, Dasuki was granted clemency and pardon along
with others on March 4, 1999 by General Abdulsalam
Abubakar, the then Head of State and Commander in Chief
of the Armed Forces for their innocence and meritorious
service to their fatherland.
