Champneys:
A brief of a recent and successful spouse/settlement visa application. Might be useful for folks planning to apply sometimes soon.

Application Mode - Self ( minor consultation ( free ) with an immigration lawyer to clarify a sentence in the application guidelines )
Application (Completed and submitted on behalf of applicant ) Submitted : 2nd December 2019 - Standard.
Biometric - Priority - 10th December
Generic Email Message from Decision Making Centre - 16th December ( Sent to Sponsor only )
Text Message Received from VAC - 29th January ( To pick up passport )
Approved - One month entry granted validity from 30th January to 29th February 2020

Docs submitted ( All uploaded using the self service and before the 10th of December, the date of the Biometric at Ikeja VAC Centre. )
- NARIC English Language Confirmation
- TB Cert.
- Communication Details - some emails, whatsapp (screenshot of selected messages and calls selected randomly over a period of 2 and half years)
- Family Photographs with some involving relatives and friends ( selected over a period of two years )
- 7 months payslip from UK, a contract role ( March 2019 - March 2020 )

- New accommodation tenancy agreement signed on the 1st of December 2019, with letter from landlord confirming we are family friends and my wife and daughter are allowed to live at the property. (no proof of rent payment sent, no inspection report as accommodation is solely occupied by me, no other utility bill apart from an email confirmation from water provider saying I have registered with them)
- Letter from Employment agency confirming change of address and latest bank statement showing new address.
- Proof of British citizenship for daughter and father (sponsor)
- Marriage certificate
- Travel ticket back and forth between applicant and sponsor
- Proof of address in Nigeria and proof of courier and postal services between sponsor and applicant ( to and out of Nigeria )
- Sponsor cover letter, narrating genesis of relationship, detailing and explaining supporting documents added )
- Applicant cover letter narrating genesis and current status of relationship.
- Passport biodata pages ( Nigeria, expired and British ) - Sponsor
- Passport biodata page ( Nigeria ) - Applicant
- Passport biodata page - Daughter ( 15 months old ( British and Nigeria )

No contact to landlord, employer, employment agency, sponsor or applicant by the HO.

All in all, a smooth and straight forward process, made easier with good travel history between sponsor and applicant, Sponsor a British Citizen and a daughter who was born outside the United Kingdom but has a British Passport.

Best wishes to everyone else awaiting a decision or applying in the near future and if you have any question, let me know!
Congrats. Question please

Lexusgs430:
Why not simply put in a renewal application, once pp arrives....... You file for spousal visa.......

You cannot file a legal application, with an illegal document...... Yes, an expired pp is not valid and can be deemed illegal..... Don't give them any reason to refuse your application.....

When they reject it, it places you back to square one.........

That time you are trying to save, you would still lose it at the tale end...........
I am the sponsor and this is what they asked in the application for the section of spouse. The applicant( partner) have a valid passport

If NARIC has said that it's not possible, I will advise you look at other options. Unless you can prove beyond doubt that you were taught in English.

Please for the English proficiency via NARIC I am a bit confused which I should use for my spouse's master degree and B.Sc.;
On their site there is one for 20 pounds

English Language Assessment,

Career Path Report,
Early Years Service,
Qualification Reference Statement

"Another one is 135 pounds
Visas and Nationality Service (PhD), Visas and Nationality Service (PhD with English Proficiency), Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills for Academically Qualified Persons"

Is it the one of 20 pounds that I should use please as it states English Proficiency in the description?

Hello house my passport has expired but when I was filling the application form, they asked if the sponsor has a valid passport. I click "No" bc I can't submit an expired data page. Is this ok ? Is it compulsory to put the sponsor passport data page ? I noticed that when I put No, it was not included in my compusory document for checklist to be submitted

Bc why I put NO is bc my passport has expired and the process to renew it in UK takes a long time. With the questions that I got in the application form I was convinced to put NO

I don't have a valid passport, it just expired last month

in the question section for spouse, they said if the sponsor can not provide a valid passport, they should tick No. kindly find attached proof and advise. many thanks.

Hello everyone. I did my biometrics on the 8th of October and tomorrow 2nd November will make it 17th working days since. My planned trip is on the 26th of November. I haven’t received any emails for pick up or even refusal. Is it advisable to call or email tomorrow to find out what’s taking so long or should I just be patient. I’m worried they’ll hold that passport for too long and I need it to travel back to school on the 26th of December.
.
Write to them and be patience.

But it will slow down application

I am mainly saying during the pandemic, HO continues to processed application but it was slow and it is because some of the VACs in majority of countries was closed.

So in the event, a lockdown was announced then HO will continue to work and process application but it may be slow. Let us all hope for the best.

Gatess:
Guys I just saw on the news that England will be going into a month partial lockdown starting from next week Thursday, which is expected to end on the 2nd of December. Could this affect our visa application and our tourism in the country this December?
It will not affect it. Read below . Some places will still be open. Essential services will still be open.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a second national lockdown for England to prevent a "medical and moral disaster" for the NHS.

He said Christmas may be "very different" but he hoped taking action now would mean families can gather.

Pubs, restaurants, gyms and non-essential shops will have to close for four weeks from Thursday, he said.

But unlike the restrictions in spring, schools, colleges and universities can stay open.

After 2 December, the restrictions would be eased and regions would go back to the tiered system, he said.

Mr Johnson said: "Christmas is going to be different this year, perhaps very different, but it's my sincere hope and belief that by taking tough action now we can allow families across the country to be together."

Please answer my queries if you can....

Hi @Justwise and other gurus in the house,

My husband and I live in the UK and I have the dependent visa. We want to apply for my mum's visa so my question are:

1. an I write the letter of invitation as a dependant or my husband is the one to write it?
2. Even if I was not the one that invited her, can I submit my statement of account and stand as a sponsor, or hubby's statement must be submitted? Better still, can we co-sponsor?
3. Can we apply for a 2 year visa as a first timer or it is a strict rule of 6 months application for a first timer?

I will await response. Many thanks.
√I will advise that your hubby be the one to invite her , let him be the one that will sponsor his mother in-law. Let every thing come from his side.
√ let it be your hubby statement of account

✓My advice let her apply for six months first.

 your immigration history The decision I have refused your application for a visit visa because I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of paragraph(s) V4.2 of Appendix V because:  You have applied for a UK Visa to for tourism for a period of 7 days. I have considered the information you have provided about your personal and economic circumstances.  You state that you earn 6240000NGN (£12,599.50 at exchange rate £1 = 495.256NGN as per Oanda.com on 21/10/20) a year from your self-employment, I note that you have demonstrated that you are in receipt of a monthly salary from your business. In support of your application, you have provided documents relating to your business, and your personal bank statement. However, there are unexplained deposits on the account leading up to your proposed visit to the UK, which do not relate to your monthly salary payments from your business. From the information provided you have not demonstrated the origin of these funds, I am not satisfied that the credits and debits are consistent with your circumstances as stated in your application. I am not satisfied that you have demonstrated that these funds are from the sources declared. Nor that they are a true reflection of your circumstances or would be genuinely available for your exclusive use in Nigeria. This leads me to doubt the credibility of the statements made in your application form and your intentions for visiting the UK at this time.  You state that you have savings of £1020. I note that you have provided a letter from Piggy tech. which show you hold the sum of 629765.44NGN (£1,271.60). However, with the information that you have provided you have not demonstrated the origin of these funds. Which leads me to doubt the credibility of the statements made in your application form and your intentions for visiting the UK at this time.  I note that you have also provided your business bank statements. However, I am mindful that the funds held in this account are for the use of the day-to-day running of your business and do not necessarily reflect your personal income. Given the above reasons, I am not satisfied that you are a genuinely seeking entry as a visitor; will leave the UK at the end of your visit. I am therefore refusing your application under paragraph V4.2 (a) and (c). NEXT STEPS NRA v 1.0 In relation to this decision, there is no right of appeal or right to administrative review. https://www.homeofficesurveys.homeoffice.gov.uk/s/visasurveyuk

WHAT can I do, I had no large deposite and the debits I had where for Facebook sponsored adds for my comoany,, I also had o re 100 million in my corporate account
You run a self employed business and y yearly salary is £12,000. The ECO found out that there are unexplained credit entries in your account apart from your monthly salary. It has been said here on this forum that any credit entries in y account which is not part of your salary should be well explained to the ECO. The ECO have the right to know all your sources of income to enable them evaluate your personal and financial circumstances. If you fail to do so it is refusal. The credit entries does not relate to your monthly salary. Where does the source of entries comes from , if you said that you have a personal account where your monthly salary is paid, how come other sources of funds are coming in?

✓ You provided a letter from Piggy tech that you have about £1271 without demonstrating the source of that fund. As I said ,you must explain all sources of income bc ECO are looking for ways to deny visa, u must make sure you do your homework very well and make it as simple as ABC.

Kindly note that the ECO is not after money in your account, even if you have 10M , what they are interested is the authenticity of the sources where the funds are coming from and beside you need not submit your business account, they don't evaluate you with it, y personal account is all they need.

In all, the ECO was not satisfied that you have not demonstrated the origin of the funds in your SOS

The only documents will be from your side since y anti is not working. You only need to write in a cover letter or in y letter of invitation that she has a family here in Nigeria and she can not leave her family do come and stay as illegal immigrant in the UK. U will be responsible for all her bills, flights,(returned) accommodation and feeding. U must make sure she leaves the UK after her vacation is over.

Requirements from y side:
√ letter of invitation
√ Bank statement covering the amount of her flight
✓ your six months payslips showing evidence that you are working and able to take care of her
✓ staff ID
✓ Passport data page. Evidence of y status in the UK.
✓Tenancy agreement of y house

Requirement from y anti
✓Photos of her family
