@ moreshow

Ok, I have enough information to believe that the industry needs a total revamp.

first off, are you paying omotolas bills? and if omotola or genny are the only ones you can name, shame!!!! shame on the industry.

The term making it 'big' does not only refer to making money, it refers to every status a celebrity should be accorded. How many of you can hold your hands up when it comes to asking whether you have collected autographs of an artiste, queued in the rain because an artist is coming into town, stay loyal to waiting patiently under the burning sun or the pouring rain just because u need to buy a ticket to see this people? Point out to the things that 'we' as a country have done to show appreciation to the peole we call 'big'.

I remember my brother once saw 'aluwe' at mr bigs in ilorin, that was 5yrs ago, he went up to him to collect an autograph, they even chatted a bit but guess what people were doing! just starring as if den never see person before, now that is appreciating someones work.

Genny has got scandals lurking round her, but yeah, celebrities here and beyond also have it but there you go.

how many paparazzi they run follow this people sef? I don't think I need to delve into their payout before we can say they are making it big or not.
Ok o, imagine the industry banning a few of them for asking for pay rise. Haba!!!!! its unheard of. If una no wan pay them, no worries, dey ma no go act abi 2 ge 4.

It is absolutely wrong to actually put a ban on people because of a demand for their call out fees,

how come your blood just dey boil for nothing? abi u don become their solicitor?

@sisikil

OMG!

ROFLMAO!!!!

This girl don kill me o!!!! That is the best sales pitch Ive ever come across in my life. Ive had the previledge to act it out for my
sista, she thinks we are all going crazy. Nairaland is the bomb. Ive been laffing like bunsuru since.

True, how would we know those awful movies if we dont watch them. I think most people have done a great job on here o
and would be nice if then give us jobs as movie critiques, maybe, just maybe then the whole industry would sit up and change.

Wo! I rest my case.

I really had a good laff. Abeg where you dey?

TV/MoviesRe: Petition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 2:36pm On Sep 08, 2008
O! was just thinking, I saw this movie recently and believe me
I didnt want to see it because it had just two people in it
'Modupe Temi' Said Balogun.

The director did a good job, Doris Simeon's husband I think he is Daniel A
well, the movie was so so funny especially when they were 'praying'

and it was promoting something that made real sense. And my goodness, I love those clothes they wore, very very nice
I want one

Meanwhile, I cant say that for his 'gbogbo ere' a 3 man cast movie
it was useless

we get all this rubbish in the industry really but all in all some are better than some

N no, dont go there, as Im not yoruba
TV/MoviesRe: Petition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 12:21pm On Sep 08, 2008
@iukpe

Sorry guys just posting loads to your replies.

I'm really glad someone is in the same boat with me. You see, in most movies,
they keep going round and round in circles and the only scenes in most of these movies are
like 2 or worst 3.

The house of the main character
maybe they would show us like 'round about or somewhere when changing scenes'
then maybe another house

hmmmm! i wonder why this is,  I think they just need to invest more money into the industry, use it wisely and maybe see the progress of it
TV/MoviesRe: Petition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 12:14pm On Sep 08, 2008
@ blackspade

Were u there when hollywood started?

Did u read the topic very well? I never compared Nollywood to Hollywood or Bollywood,  I only picked on nollywood because I think they need to find critics to make the industry progress and if you think its a rubbish topic, well, your opinion

at least it gives us views as to who and who we need to bring into the industry
TV/MoviesRe: Petition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 12:10pm On Sep 08, 2008
@ deepzone again

'So all the yoruba movies are top notch and there are no stupid ones abi? I do not like science fiction movies and most action movies but i know lots of people that love them, does that mean it should be scrapped because i hate them?'

Well, I dunno about that o! depends on what people think. The main idea was to scrap the whole industry and if we cant go that far, maybe they should listen to peoples view before they can release other movies, at least they should take cue from the others too

Even Bollywood doesnt release movies like that anymore
TV/MoviesRe: Petition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 12:05pm On Sep 08, 2008
@ Krisbobo

Hmmm! ok, if 10 out of 100 is what you call good, then cool. But thats rather too small I should say.
I never said anything about them Tunde Kelani and others u mentioned and that was probably because maybe they skipped my mind
but if I must say I recall mentioning some movies that are worth to be given credit as being who I am, I normally give credit to whom credit is due.

Truth is, if there are movie critiques in Nigeria, then maybe, just maybe they wouldnt produce loads of non quality movies in a short time.

I need to go to work now, but cheers for that
TV/MoviesRe: Petition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 11:48am On Sep 08, 2008

Hmmmm! u try to show urself as a patriot but I see you want to scrap NYSC, NDLEA and some other things, hmm!
well, we all have a right to our OPINIONS so either ways, thanks for making yours known.

@sisi

goodness gracious me! I couldnt help but laff. Dunno what to even write to be very honest
but I'll be glad if I can get those siggies.

Then maybe we can start a new nollywood without RMD in dungarees acting like a 12yr old
or Omotola packing all her yansh into shapewears that we can see showing underneath the dress she's wearing
and trying to act like 'beyonce n rhianna' Good God! what were they thinking?
TV/MoviesRe: Petition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 12:04pm On Sep 02, 2008
@seun,

Thanks for seeing the funny side of my post, 'preciate it.

@ powerofmap,

first off, Im a girl. But all the same, cheers! Anyhoo! Ive never produced a movie before but I would think that movies even series
do follow scripts, at least, I was reading something about 24 yesterday and it was said the writer's went on strike.

Fair enough, scripts might not be followed to the latter, but then would you say our actors and actresses lack common sense?
Sometimes, their spoken english, pronunciation, etc is just so annoying, You see someone wanting to be like the American one minute and the next, its
British english. The directors sometimes don't even think that there is a need to re-take some shots when they can clearly see mistakes in it,
abi then no dey watch the movie over and over again or den no they do they 'cut'!!!!! again thing other people dey do?

I pray they get there soon really as one of my friends almost tore me open when I mentioned that, as much as we hear Nollywood to be no 3 in the world (well, for the number of movies produced) production wise, they still seem to be very very far from it in exception of some really well produced movies. (Violated, maybe out of bounds, keeping faith I think where Bimbo and her friend were calling juju 'jazz') lol. And I wont deny, we have some really good actors/actresses but how are they treated? Bukky Ajai once mentioned that when she went to S/A for a movie shoot, she was given a trailer (with her name on it) here, just use person house even if people dey inside the house dey talk none of our business, make we just use am quick quick, Haba!!!

Probably if there is an association for criticising these people they would buckle up and indeed I'll be queuing to criticise the movie industry anytime anyday.

We will get there someday, hmmmm!!!! ok o! I think they need a kick in the BUTT!!!! 'xcuse my turenchi'
SportsGood Match : But We Take The Silver by mooretes(op): 7:18am On Aug 23, 2008
when i heard it was nigeria v argentina, I went Atlanta 96 repeating itself. So I set my alarm and decided I will not miss this match.

getting  up to 'eru ko ba mi o, yinka aiyefele' on my alarm, i knew it was time to watch the argentina nigeria match, so got the TV on, still under the duvet as its kindda cold, the match had started just a few secs before. The first half was quite intense with the argentines having kept possession of the ball but our defense was good and odemwingie  (good player) did have the drive and all but we did miss our chances.

Second half came, and the boys in great form, kept pressing on. Just mins into it (57mins), the argentines put in their first goal, Angel di Maria tossed the ball over the goalies head and it was too late for us to clear it. Although morales had started dropping and our supporters club had stopped blowing the famous 'its a miracle working God' on their trumpets,  I gave up hope (90th min). I was like thats it. Argentina have won the gold, but said to myself hey!!! it can't be, remember Manchester United and Beyern Munich (1999) that was the best game ever,  though it seemed Manchester United had lost it but in the nick of time, we won!!!

O! yeah, when i gave up hope i remember sending a text to my brother saying 'kai! is a waste of my sleep o. Imagine all d misses n that goal against us was just not it at all', this was like the 85th min, my bros reply 'abi o! no comment'
this didnt happen and so, Argentina won the Gold, shame but we take the silver, thank goodness

I was jealous when they were celebrating though, I went the field would v been something else had it been we won,  all the same good match

and the final result,
its gold for argentina and nigeria takes silver

a better commentary than mine is here

Hoping the footie goes well 2mrw

TV/MoviesPetition To Scrap The Nigerian Movie Industry by mooretes(op): 3:43am On Jul 16, 2008
Hi guys,

Does anyone feel like I do? Scrapping the Nigerian Movie industry would be better than watching the rubbish they give us. Its no wonder what 7days work can produce,  absolute rubbish. We don't have movie critics in the country, neither do we have reviews or screening times,  weird even the scripts are not right!!!! My goodness, they tend to repeat the same statement due to lack of words by the writer.

Or, maybe if we take our time to find some good producer, good writer and maybe good actors/actresses, then it might work. I mean, I only watch these movies when Ive got nothing to do, only to criticise them though but I wont fail to mention that erm, violated was one great movie that ever came out from Nollywood, keeping fate is also a good one but that is just a few out of loads that come out on a daily basis.

Just on onlinenigeria, which is a good website, credit must be given where its due. I just cannot believe that after reading so hard and decided to go on there after God knows how long it was that I haven't gone on there, I decided to check a movie out 'worst enemy' Omotola has really deteriorated, its like a  Nigerian version of the Indian movie 'the promise' well, from the little I saw o!!!! but is that how bad we've gone? Lack of originality!!!! I remember a Ghanian film like this as well where Jackie Appiah played double roles I think, one of which she was a club singer

Abeg, lets sign petition to scrap the industry jo, not like those people kuku are making it big neither are they regarded as 'celebrity',  even people who come out of big brother house are better known than they are (well, thats just for a laff)

Later guys

RomanceRe: Ogun State Lady And Anambra Man. by mooretes: 7:18pm On Mar 17, 2008
Hiya!

I also heard the same thing  , Anambra people dont marry outsiders. Guess what!!!! you are lucky to have someone who proposed to you. Be happy with what you have and dont let hear say destroy your road to happiness. Truth is, its not easy marrying be it from outside your place or from your place but if you meet someone and you are able to stand thru thick and thin with the person then go for it.

Make the most of now, All the best

expatriate:
An expatriate (in abbreviated form expat) is someone temporarily or permanently in a country and culture other than that of their upbringing and/or legal residence. The word comes for the Latin ex (out of) and patria (country), and is sometimes misspelt as ex-patriot, due to its pronunciation.

that is not true! how would you say 'Nigerians would think you got picked up in a night club' if you were dating a white guy? Unless of course that is the case here. But if it isnt, then, I see no reason for your concern. The only thing is boyfriend?!!?!!!?!!! Sweetie, you can do better than dat, what about 'Marriage'? I do believe in that than you living together but its not my problem now is it? Im seeing a white guy, would love to come to Nigeria anytime soon and interracial rship is the least of peoples worries in Nigeria as far as I know plus if your parents say its ok, then you've got nothing to worry about.

We all know that the decision as to who we are with is solely ours n not the worlds, is it? I wish you all the best

hmm! im quite reconsidering this you know, to b honest what difference does it make if you are with a white person, your child is a molato or, ? I see no point in this thread, its just a way of rubbing it in peoples faces, n lets b honest, no one is difft white, blue, black grey we are all thesame, its like this is a joke or more like you bragging about it

Most Nigerian Films are just useless and senseless with awful names to go with it as well. Dont they have film critics? Back to the trend I think the movie should be called 'the exorcism of , ' cant even remember her name. What some movie eek!
Christianity EtcRe: Pre-Marital Sex Is Not Fornication by mooretes: 12:48am On Jan 12, 2007
My point is, if you are committed to be married to someone, then having sex with that person does not mean you are a fornicator.

Although I do not condone sex with multiple partners, sex with your boyfriend or fiancee is fine, as long as you are both committed to each other and monogamous.

Having a boyfriend/girlfriend you are committed to is one thing another thing is actually getting married. U r only married to a person unless you have both exchanged rings/vows at the alter or wherever u choose to exchange these vows. Haven said this, having sex with ones boyfriend/girlfriend is to me the same as fornicating.

I'm sorry to say trini girly, but r u a sociologist? this is more like 'i am me and my circumstances'. I am not tryin to b cheeky but i think we can never b sure of the level of commitment unless one actually does give u d ring ( which seals everything)

I mean, lets say for example, one was dating someone for like 5yrs believing he/she is the one in fact everyone tot yes they r getting married ( with them sleeping with eachother o) suddenly the man/woman calls d relationship off, they both go their ways n meet someone else, sleep with this person(s) 2, another one under their belt b that,  marriage didnt come out of it until he/she has slept with about 10 people before they now finally get someone to marry,  i mean; then thats like sleeping around but in a logical n better way (erk!!). I'm not diverting from d original post but ive just got instances whr people are committed to eachother but suddenly just leave each other based on some stupid reasons (im out of love). The point is, the Bible frowns at sex before marriage anything outside that is fornication and the dictionary clearly defines it as voluntary sexual intercourse between persons not married to each other  and also, Fornication refers disapprovingly to any sexual activity outside of the confines of marriage, obviously including pre-marital sex.

Also, from the Bibles point of view, Sex before marriage, pre-marital experience, assuming one is talking of sexual intercourse or perversion of the same, the word of God implies it all by calling it fornication. It knows no exception. It allows none. Renaming fornication does not change the act or remove the consequence. Those who commit fornication, sin (http://www.bible.ca/s-premarital-sex.htm)

Paul said, "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body" I Corinthians 6:18. The body of the believer belongs to God. He has been bought with a price and is to glorify God while in the flesh. Fornication is generally committed. in private. This leads one to believe that, since no one knows, or since the act was committed with a prostitute or call girl, that the sin goes unnoticed and the consequences are allayed. This is just not so. Pre-marital sex? An effort to reach compatibility? An innocent game to play? Not according to the word. God says it is fornication, sin, and those who commit such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. It is not sex which God condemns, but it's misuse outside the marriage bond (http://www.bible.ca/s-premarital-sex.htm)
