The idea that once you have some tashere you'll be pulling others out of poverty - hmmm. Well in some cases, it's good to help someone in need BUT it is also important not to be taken as someone who will fill the gap for you and be consistently be the MAGA!

I have a friend, who took me for a fool and would always come with one issue or the other and tbh I was a fool - that person that knows truly that she was a fool.

I knew this person over 24 years ago and I literally stopped giving her anything for the last 3 years because - its one excuse or the other!

In our younger days its money for this money for that - serial bigger

After uni, she got a job and then lost the job as the offices were downsizing - this was over 11 years ago now

She's married but yes, struggles however refuses go do anything about where they are financially - because there is someone who would ALWAYS give when she asks - the maga!

It's dad has this issues, it's mum wants this, it's my son doesn't have this, it's my husband has the problem- my sister has done this, I can't overburden her BUT when you say, you've got to work or do something to get you out of this issued you're having then the answer is - I can't do this, I can't do that, I have this pain or that pain!

I can't give you fish but will teach you to fish - BUT ehn, Just give me this - I have back pain, I have waist pain - am I the only one, I've prayed and prayed but it seems no answer, it seems everytime I go to see someone for help, when it gets to me, they ignore it.

OK - you can make cakes - but not selling
You can make clothes but too lazy
You can make hair, again too lazy
A lot of skills has been deposited into you but you refuse to use it to bring yourself out of poverty - why?

You have someone somewhere who would give you everytime you ask.

Imagine even when you're told - I cannot afford to give you as I've got things I need to sort out- you still find a way to ask.

When I didn't have a job, the asking reduced, as soon as job came, asking resumed.

When I calculated how much she got in a year through me, she could as well go and work as its someone's salary. I could have used it to buy a land and raised it a bit!

Last straw - I want to ask for something but dunno how - my husband has done enough, please whatever you and your husband can do for me will be appreciated!

Yes admittedly, I encouraged all of this and the day I said NO and then made sure NO was NO that day I wasn't a friend anymore - which was good for me.

There is a black tax

Did the helper become complacent? Was the helper stupid? Was it emotional blackmail?

Help people to be financially responsible otherwise they will be a burden and you will detest them

Don't promise to do what you cannot

If the person you are trying to help doesn't want to be lifted out of poverty then walk away otherwise your financials will become a sinking ship!

This attitude can make you cut off everyone - you shouldn't feel overburdened by any request. Don't get bullied or emotionally black mailed to do stuff you shouldn't do. Always consider those who would want to bring themselves out of poverty rather than bring you down to their level.

Think before you give

Imagine owning a company and everytime you need something you which you normally sell to customers, you take without paying - on the simple terms that afterall you own the company ... please how long do you think it will take before you go bust?

Romance / Re: Nairalanders Share Experience About Online Dating by mooretes: 6:31pm On Sep 19, 2023
I've got two for you.

1. I have a friend who met someone online many years ago and they have been married for 12 years and still counting

2. I have another friend who just met someone online and there rship is still young but they seem to be enjoying their love - hopefully it blooms into forever after!

All based abroad

Will I say online dating isn't risky? It is, even the recent rship I mentioned, the guy told me that my friend went willingly with him and he could have been anyone. We discussed the risks and he concluded that there is physical risk for the girl but the men too also are not left out.

So think about it and shine your eye well
Food / Gaming And Then Cake by mooretes: 9:32pm On Sep 10, 2023
Hi,
Recently made some gaming cakes and wanted to share.

Forgot to take proper photos of the PS4 before it was devoured! The fidget spinner is nearly finished and it's meant to spin - fingers crossed it works out.

Health / Re: Nursing Mother Loses Her 3-Month-Old Baby At A Crèche by mooretes: 9:11am On Mar 07, 2022
Na wa o! Most comments here ehn!

Mother is irresponsible... mother indirectly killed her baby ...what is a 3 month old doing in a creche? 3mth old still needs to be breastfed! Companies give awful maternity.. why have baby if you're not ready to care for them? keep baby with family member in the car!!!

Well we don't know what happened and everyone
is just SPECULATING ATM! Whilst it is sad to lose a child of any age ... however the child died is not the point here but SHE LOST THE BABY!

sm1 mentioned he was given paternity for 4 months .. the coy must be generous cos even UK gives only 2 weeks!

others say what is a 3mth doing in creche... well I know some creche will accept from 6weeks

sm said babies still need to be breastfed at that age ... do you know that not all women can breastfeed? And they should not be shamed for it

one person mentioned keep baby in car with sibling... have u thought of the fact the baby can die from overheating? You do not leave a baby in the car under scorching heat with another 'child' that's not ideal

If the creche indeed have no clue what could have happened .. like sm1 mentioned SID could be the culprit but also to be safe we need to put proper regulations and checks on for places such as this ... have they got the correct safety measures ... are the people properly trained ... not just looking after a child but do they know how to administer first aid, baby and child CPR? are the rooms used dedicated to certain age groups? For instance under 1s or is it under 2s have a room and also the number they take shouldn't be more than staff they have ... surely the under 2s need more attention hence the ratio of staff to children should be 1 staff member to 3 kids, 1 staff member to 4kids 2years, 3-5year olds has 1staff to 8kids
But then are there any guidelines for such? Are the providers registered? Do we know how many children are registered under them? That's the kind of conversation that needs to go on and we need to do better

No matter what we say here the child cannot be brought back to life ... the woman will be grieving and will not forgive herself for taking the baby to creche ... heck her husband might hate her for this! Afterall said and done, we should be mindful of our utterances.. think in light of a situation and stop apportioning blame

May God console the woman and her family

u can also use coconut oil on her hair (from memory please dont quite me) but try to wash her hair less as its stripping off oil

it takes a while to go but it will resolve

Good day house

All mothers should kindly come to my rescu please and pls.

My daughter is only 5months, she has been suffering heat rash ( may be is heat rash or ila ) and stubborn dandruff ( looks like craw craw) since she was 1month. Inside cool when my baby is having heat rash.

I live in the UK. I don't have mother, sister or any family here to help me with her.. I shed tears when she itches her hair and face to the extent its brings out blood..people kept telling is the normal here with black children but I don't believe. Her scalp is always very dry, whitish and lost all her hair because of this.

Is there anyone who has experience same? The rash on her face turns dry, makes her red and its itches her.

Pls come to my rescu. Thank u all

In other words it does exactly what its supposed to

well, you tell me - if you think I was taking a swipe at you - sorry bro, I'm only trying to reiterate that turnitin exists however it doesn't really detect plagiarism but assist lecturers when the markers go haywire - and what it does is it checks texts against database to see where papers have been submitted or published

ArlinAddington:
Nigerian graduates that have never heard of turnitin will say foreign graduates have it easy academically. 60% seems very low BTW and reckon the true percentage is in the 90s bar foreign Nigerian universities and some private universities.

people know how to work turnitin- besides it only shows similarities and lecturers start to worry should the similarity report become too high - in most cases, students will just reference anyways and that kind of covers their back! well until that software that would really catch students doing all sorts is released, turnutin only is a tool to help lecturers prevent plagiarism

So sad!

It is to save students from such academic embarrassment that we assembled a team of professionals to specifically offer academic assistance to students. Nigerians are hardworking but the system is making it exceedingly difficult for students to stay on a par with their international counterparts.

And the definition of plagiarism is?

this type of thing should be stopped - I'm sorry but it is not the students work - the idea of an assignment, essay or dissertation is for the person to do it by themself - if it is contracted to someone else then it becomes your intellectual property. It is common in the UK too, turnutin or any other plagiarism software doesn't really detect that someone else wrote the essay on behalf of the student, however as lecturers/tutors we are aware that this is happening - just Google and you will see loads of adverts just like yours looking for academic writers to help students with things like this. It is a shame

it is dishonest should a student turn such essay in
