Investing in human capital is the best investment any country can do moving forward. Human capital is basically 'stock of knowledge, habits, creativity etc embodied in the ability to perform labor so as to produce economic value' - source: wikipedia Development economists have found that investing in human capital either through education or training could/would add value to the economy i.e. Economic growth. How can we invest in people? Is it possible for the rich to help? Well, it is - if the government refuses to follow policy advice or abandon all their economic developmental policies, then a suggestion could be that the rich, could venture into investing in people. How could they do this you ask? Well, I know we tend to import shows from the UK or US e.g Who wants to be a millionaire, Nigerias got talent and co. My take then is, why cant we do 'The apprentice' Nigerian version? You know the one where Lord Sugar invests £250k on a candidate with a very good business plan after about 10 business tasks - competing among roughly 13-18 people from different backgrounds. The American version is/was run by Donald Trump. Can our own version, if we ever do copy this be ran by Dangote, otedola or any of the rich nigerians available? Let us look inward and help make the country better - invest in us now and develop the country. If given the opportunity, we can make a difference. |
awwww! May God give you the strength to deal with it. I am ok, work started last wk and it wld be chaos from next wk - not really looking forward to it but then need to work. Anyways, wish you the very best with all ur endeavours x |
Evening everyone. Congrats to those who have had their Los, those with BFPs and those who just joined. May God continue to keep everyone safe. To those who lost their LOs one way or the other, the lord is your strength. Our God is not a God of confusion and he would in no time restore all. To those TTC, God is still in the miracle working business- praying for all of us to receive our heart desires by his grace. @cherrychy Sorry babes it will end when you have your baby or just before. I had this beginning of 2nd trimester I think until just before lo was born. It was an awful experience. If you can get yourself a splint it should help. Have you checked with the docs to confirm this though? I am left handed (actually ambidextrous but hardly use my right nowadays) and was lecturing when this started - it became worse during exams so it was difficult to mark scripts, wouldn't wish it on anyone. Sleeping gets difficult, likewise doing anything meaningful with just 1 hand becomes a task but you will get used to it. @forzarush, how have u been? Fortune? Apologies for not coming online, but all mentions acknowledged! @giddyperson, how are u? giddybaby and ur very interesting MIL? God bless liftedhands and alphahandmaiden, how r ur lil ones? u guys too? @liftedhands, hope the triplets are doing well? I always enjoy reading wise words from you both. GBY enjoy the rest of your evening. PS: i am going back to hibernating mode, apologies if o don't respond quickly xoxo |
stevebond007:how do you do too? not a fan of that diners, drive-in and dives presenter at all, 'guy' he does my head in. But when I can stand it I try to watch some of those food and see if I can replicate even though they hardly give away their full recipes! I suppose with baking esp cakes uve just got to b interested. For me I've been baking over 20 years and I'm only just perfecting skills as I'm self taught. Funny enough I'm into carved cakes and using strange ingredients in the cake recipe - that's the reason for watching all those ultimate cake offs |
sorry ehn, next time x |
jagugu88li:how come that table looks like mine and the hand like my friends'? hmmmm ![]() |
stevebond007:well I watch a lot of food network. I love watching ultimate cake off, cake wars, cupcake wars, chopped, mostly baking shows and Bbq challenge I think it's called. When I was younger I used to enjoy watching maggi kitchen. I suppose I just love cooking, working with different ingredients and coming up with something new. |
Well done Thanks a lot. Your analogy is very funny. I enjoy cooking and making things up even without having some of the equipment mentioned. I rembr back when I would pound beef so I can make mince - we didn't own a mincer n I rembr in uni where I learnt to use stove oven to bake cakes though I grew up with an oven but at Uni you learn loads. Life I guess. Fun times too. Thanks again |

@kemifemi so sorry for your loss. Words cannot express how much it hurts when you lose someone so dear to you, someone you love. We might not understand why and might ask why but one thing is for sure, the memories they've created (even if it was for a short while) will fill you with hope for a better tomorrow. Indeed it is well with you. May the blessing of the lord that maketh rich and add no sorrow be with you and yours ijn. He will turn your mourning into dancing. May he comfort you and give you peace ijn. |
Thanks a lot, I hope mine happens same day cuz I chose the date myself cuz it's my best friend's birthday
Awwww! U know whatever God has in store for you.According to my LMP my son was due sept 11 and I honestly did not want that date. Guess wot, he came 1.37am sept 12. As long as ure not overly tired, ul b fine plus like I said postterm is after 42weeks. Hang in there, when she comes like most people have said, it wld b all hands on deck ... things will b different for a considerable length of time. ![]() |
Giddyperson:babes dont worry about it. Honestly just take each day as it comes. No two births can be the same and every BS is different too. Hearing the word induction can be really scary for ftm, like I said, I ate all d hot curries available so as to not go for it but I still went in. I zeroed my mind as to what will happen but definitely wanted a drug free birth. I was booked in on the 9th of Sept (monday) and the first pessary that was used didnt work (il describe it like the thread from a lantern) as I went to toilet, it came off so I had another one inserted. It is meant to work slowly for 24hours. After 24hrs nothing happened so I was asked to rest on day two. I was already bored of staying in the hospital by this time. Day three they decided to insert a 4hourly tablet, by 8pm when the 3rd was going to b inserted, a Doc came and I had to ask him what wld happen if it fails and he was flat out CS. Im like please Im going home (but nope, they didnt let me cos BP was a bit high) and the next VE showed I was still 1cm. Luckily the midwife who put the 3rd one in was like lets hope this is the magic bullet. 3RD was inserted and I was meant to be checked by 1am or so but guess wot when labour started, it progressed so quickly it was indeed like magic. I felt a sharp cut in my pubic region just bf 1am but nurse came and was like its not time to check but il check anyway. I had reached 8cm without knowing and within mins I was fully dilated 1st stage labour took 22mins 2nd stage was 6mins and 3rd stage 9mins (checked my discharge cert). This is my story and is specific to me. After baby came I realised regardless of what we try to do baby will come when baby wants to come. For me, I think you might be more apprehensive reading various stories about induction and how it ends up becoming CS (in most cases, emergency situation e.g baby in distress, prolonged labour). Just keep praying and saying positive stuff. The lord who started a good work in you will perfect it ijn. You are in my prayers. GBY |
Giddyperson:I suspect not being here yet is what is killing u the most. Doh! Baby will be here, dont worry, people will keep asking and calling but in due course baby will come Guess she wants to do it in style. Praying for a swift and easy birth. Enjoy this time because as soon as baby is here its full on (shame it is one of those afters of birth that is not really discussed) but i suspect ul do just fine |
I'll try to eat what I can. I pray everything goes well.
Dont worry ur head everything will be alright. Im not so certain there is a particular feeling about being preg (well until baby starts to kick) however, as long as uve got ur bfp and you are taking folic acid then i guess ul be fine until your next appt when the dr discusses weda ur care will be midwife led or doc led. Who leads care also changes from time to time. A friend of mine did exactly like you said u wld and would exaggerate and see docs. most cases she wld go to A&E. Truth is whilst NHS is gd, there is a lot of strain on them. For me, ive decided my next preg, il only do scans and all that is required, fashi ANC as i didnt gain anything. Only thing is I would b considered high risk since gestational diabetes has now turned to prediabestes. SMH |
@liftedhands its a gd thing to love languages o! rgds to ur LO @kemifemi congrats on the arrival of your baby. Thank God for the Drs swift action. The lord who started this gd work will perfect it ijn. The lord is your strength Happy Easter |
