davidnazee: I don't feel good about anybody or race being enslaved.. Its you Yorubas that dragged the Edos into this fight and like the warriors that we are, we are obligated to defend our honour and heritage.. If you started following this thread you will see that the Yorubas twisted an ordinary thank you visit by my our Great Oba to mean HE was paying homage.. Do you expect us to sit back and take that insult and lie?? We were not born that way. So I am just reminding the Yorubas their place in history and that this Edo they are trying to trash was once their rulers, but all that is in the past.. In real life I have Edo friends. In real life you have Yoruba friends. Let us move on brother.. All of us here from both sides of the tussle, have something in common We, unlike the majority of our countrymen, have knowledge of history and national pride All these things you know about history, where you self taught? |

steveosaz: While I cannot disagree with what you've said here, it's imperative to understand that this thread was originally started to deride the Edos.
The yorubas were obviously harboring some sinister motives when they immediatelye after this post was made began peddling outright falsehood about the purpose of the Oba's visit to the Ooni. Both parties spoke and acknowledged that the visit was purely on a courtesy basis meant to entrench greater love and cooperation between the two groups, but to the surprise of many, the Yoruba were everywhere including Herr claiming the Oba went to complete his coronation-thats an insult and such insult cannot be left to just cool off at least for posterity's sake. Meanwhile it was repeatedly pointed out to the yorubas that the Oba had a tradition of visiting fellow monarchs of his stature after ascending the throne and in this case, Oba Ewuare actually began by visiting the president, then the Sultan, some other smaller monarchs and then the ooni. But strangely, only the visit to the ooni elicited unnnecessary commentary. This is purely mischief. Edos ordinarily don't tell Yoruba story or that of other groups, we believe everyone should tell their story however they please, but when these incursions by yorubas into Edo hisyis becoming a hobby for them, then, the records must be set straight, no matter what and at any cost. I appreciate that you took the time to reason with me. I had said some silly things to you in the past. I take them all back. I wish you nothing but peace and goodwill in your future sojourns. I also apologize to all people of Edo descent. I made some unguided statements on this thread. I have great admiration for what the Benin Kingdom accomplished. |

davidnazee: My friend your pain is understood.. Keep venting it out.. But please how does it feel knowing that your ancestors where ruled for 500yrs by the Edo people? I will like to know how it feels because I don;t know that feeling.. Chai!! 500yrs.. and like Kanye West said, I think it was a choice by the Yorubas to be ruled for 500yrs, I guess thats why they easily accepted Ekhaladeran to take up the Ife throne.. David, would you really feel good knowing you enslaved the men and women of another culture? You truly wouldn't feel good at that, don't lie I think you are just a man who has a deep love and reverence for his Edo ancestors and you would not tolerate anyone denigrating your heritage We in the Yoruba camp are thesame.. so there will be no end to the supremacy tussle I, though I am out of this online d.ick measurement Peace to you and yours |

BabaRamota1980: So I want to remind us all that the bottom line of all this is the hoax used centuries ago to pacify Igodomigodo and impose a foreigner over them to rule and give civilization to the barbaric uncivilized Edo society.
That hoax is Ekaladheran, a condemned fugitive that superstitious claimed became king in Ife and changed his identity to Izoduwa, Omoduwa, Oduduwa and all kind of .....duwas.
We need to revisit Ekaladeran. If you all recall I said in my previous analysis that there was more to come to further demystify the superstition and remove the remaining fear from the minds of these Edos.
Do you all recall that not long ago Edo chiefs brought out some otumokpo and displayed it publicly with chants and claims that those enslaving Edo women into prostitution locally and abroad and the girls that partivipate in the trade will meet with tragedy if they did not desist immediately?
According to them the last time the fetish came out was 400yrs ago. I wonder when was last time before that...and the time before that....
But the point is that Edo has a deep practice in witchcraft and they believe completely in its power to manifest.
So Im thinking to myself, as dumb and outlandishly twisted as the Ekaladheran story is, why would the people be so stuck on it in the face of its rejection by scholars around the world? Then I thought about this otumokpo they brought out recently.
Is it possible the Edo society are acting under fear of questioning the authencity of Ekaladheran, and risk the curse of this otumokpo manifesting in their life?
This is my theory and it might sound funny at first untill you hear the rest of the Ekaladheran saga.
So lets share some more....
I want first to build a background against which I will dramatize the impracticality of an Ekaladheran even stepping foot in Ile Ife, much more being celebrated there as a king.
1 - Edo warriors, we are told, demolished any kingdom or people in their way. They ruled the entire coast East and West of Bight of Benin all the way to Ghana. They conquered all their neighbors...including Yoruba.
2 - Igala fought two wars with Bini. The first they defeated Bini, entered the Oba palace and seized his mask which they carried back with them to Idah. It remains in their possession till today, symbolic of their defeat over Edoland.
On their second war, Edo sent fresh young girls into the Igala warrior camp purposely to be defiled. Their goal being to pacify the Igalas to rethink their invasion and return back to Idah. The Igalas used the girls and then invaded Edo. Overpowered, they sent SOS to Portuguese for assistance. The Portuguese defeated Igala soldiers. Those Igala soldiers did not return home to Idah. They could not take back a message of defeat to their King. So they settled on the outskirts of Northern Edo in Ibaji area, located in Kogi today.
As pertains to Ekaladheran, we are told that he at one time was resident in Ughoton under concealed identity. An Edo chief happened to spot him and took the discovery back to the dimwit Ogiso father. The father sent out messenger to go tell him to return to Igodomigodo. Ekaladheran refused to go with the messenger. So Ogiso dispatched armies to go to Ughoton and forcefully bring him back. It is said that Ekaladheran and the Chiefs of Ughoton had dug trenches to swallow the Igodo Army. They perished and fearing for his life he left Ughoton and went on in his journey.
STOP!
Igodomigodo Army that is a formidable force along thousands of miles of coastal lands from Bight of Biafra to Slave Coast in Ghana, defeated by one small village?
Aaaah!! Kings of old had a protocol for conducting warfare. A defeated King goes on exile or commits suicide. Soldiers retain honor by dying at the warfront or never return home.
This freak Ogiso's Army was defeated in Ughoton and he remaind on throne. Where is his honor?
Oohh, almost forgot its Owodo...his queen already spent his honor in the bush, with chiefs.
We are told Ekaladheran headed to Ife and changed name to Oduduwa and then became King. He had many children in Ife. One of his children was Oranmiyan.
Who are the rest?
Oranmiyan returned to his father's homeland in Igodomigodo which he renamed Ile Ibinu. The Edos have retained the story of Ekaladheran and Oranmiyan since.
None of the other supposed children of Ekaladheran recall anyone in their ancestral line fitting the profile of Ekaladheran, whether before or after the claimed name rebranding.
As we know, Yoruba's Oduduwa is the son of Lamurudu.
Ancient Yoruba's root is interlinked with these people, Baruba (Borgu), Babur(Kanuri)... all have same traditional marks and facial features.
Igodomigodo has never featured as a root for Oduduwa at anytime in history.
So the other children, the brothers and sisters of Oranmiyan do not recollect of an Ekaledheran or an Ogiso background, nor an igodomigodo in their ancestry. This claim is limited only to those who Oranmiyan civilized in Edo.
In fact Oranmiyan returned to found Oyo...and even Oyo has never heard of an Ekaladheran in its ancestral lineage, orally or literally.
What is unique about Yoruba Obas is oriki. In addition to it they also have totem.
The Ogisos have no totem, nor oriki.
If Ekaladheran was a founding father in Ife, he would have been given an oriki, a totem...while alive, and after death would have been immortalized with a shrine or even deified. There is not a single shrine or praise song for Ekaladheran in Yorubaland.
Edos told us where he was born and where ended up becoming King but we havent heard if he died and where he died at and was buried.
So I must ask this of Edos...
Where is Ekaladheran buried? Is his head at Orun Oba Ado's crypt?
I need answer. You just conquered Edo lies with archaeology and logic You taught me things I never knew I say this with no evil intent but Edo people are a shameless tribe |

Its an aberration to see a straightforward Yoruba man, they are trivial and tactless set of people. See the disjointed and chequered history they are all just coming up with. I know them very well, na their way. The only thing you owe them is never to accept their crappy bulldung. They are all manufacturers of history.
Their only friend in this country today is the Fulani and that's because the Fulani has married them as f#@ks their dirty asses real gud all the time. Every other group is wary and highly suspicious of them. Yet still, there is no one the Fulanis have dealt with up to how they've pummeled these Yoruba people.
When it comes to being uncoordinatedly loud, they unarguably come first their. I say it again, go to hausaland and see armies of Yoruba people(I mean ex Yoruba people) who have totally renounced anything Yoruba including their name and have become Hausa. Those are the same people that are here talking like the very fools they are.
They brought together so many nationalities and spun their manufactured tales to these people asking them to claim ile ife as their origin, meanwhile, most of these people are independent and have nothing to do with oduduwa and were only victims of cultural assimilation that the entire Yoruba race is facing today in the hands of Hausa Fulani.
Yoruba people go home and save your burning house, Fulani is doing silent jihad against you people. That's where your attention should be. Steven I concede you are right Benin people are loved by all Because Your sister receive all the earthly s.perms |

davidnazee: make you enjoy this one.. Just got it from my research..
"Eastern Yorubaland also felt the impact of its powerful eastern neighbor, Benin. When Benin invaded Ekiti between 1818-1823, the aim was to quell provincial revolt and regain control over the region’s economy. Indeed by reasserting control over the trade routes, which linked it with Yorubaland, Benin strengthened the position of its long distance traders, the Ekhengbo (from Ekhen Egbo) (ekhen, traders; egbo, forest). Akure and Benin traditions agree that the invasion of Akure was precipitated by a commercial dispute following an attack on a Benin tobacco trader, Ogonto, who was accused of violating an Akure law. Even though the information is scanty, it is possible to situate the Benin invasion at this time and the economic dispute at its root, within the context of the rise in the supply of slaves by the wars in Yorubaland and Hausaland. Benin traders would have desired to tap into the northern Yoruba slave fields as well as send foreign goods into the interior. They would have also wanted alternative markets, even if temporary, to counterbalance the disruptive effect of the Nupe political crisis on Benin’s trade with the Niger. Consequently, Benin soldiers, under Ologbosere Imaran and Ezemo Erebo, carried out punitive expeditions, which left so much destruction that the fear of Benin lingered on till the early years of colonial occupation. Several Ekiti, Akoko and Owo towns were sacked and in them were created Benin colonies under the Balekale (consuls). With the victory, Benin reasserted its control over trade in Ekiti, Owo and Akoko, and Benin enclaves in Owo, Akure, Ikere and Ado-Ekiti became the nexus of trade between Benin and Yorubaland. Both Akure and Idanre traditions agree that owing to Benin commercial activities, a nineteenth century ruler, Deji Gbogi and an influential woman, Olokoju both of Akure founded Alade village/market (near Idanre) as a meeting point for Ekiti, Idanre, Ondo, Owo, Ijebu, Benin and Ijesa traders. Imported items such as guns, salt and metal implements from Benin were sold as far as Ilesa, Ekiti and Ilorin. This earned the Ekhengbo the distinction of being called the “first long-distance traders in Ekiti.” Although the Akure king’s list seems to put Igbogi in an earlier century, the reference to the importation of guns would put his reign in the mid-nineteenth century. Most significant was that commercial metal products point to the position of Akure as a regional market.
Immigrants into Ekiti also included traders, soldiers, administrators and their dependants from Benin. These colonists set up farm in the forest straddling the Akure-Idanre border and occupied what is now called the Ọgbọn Ado (Edo quarter) of Ado-Ekiti. Similarly slaves captured by the Benin from some Ado villages and some refugees were settled at Ikere where they established Ogotun, Afao, Are, Iluomoba and Agbado quarters, all named after their previous towns." David i don’t think you’ve ever ventured out of Benin village in your whole life You are an elder from Benin village who has nothing better to do with his life |
