Politics › Nigerian-german Siemens AG Electricity Deal Resumes, Targets 2000MW In 2 Months by Moorish(op): 5:44am On Apr 29, 2022 |
On Tuesday, FGN Power Company, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) set up for the Nigerian-Siemens power deal said electricity equipment like transformers and mobile power substations are expected to arrive in Nigeria in September. The delay in executing the partnership, which was attributed to Covid-19, has contributed to the deterioration of Nigeria’s poor electricity supply. But the Managing Director, FGN Power, Kenny Anuwe, said on Tuesday in Abuja, while speaking on the project, that by the time the power equipment are installed, there would be major improvement in the supply of electricity in the country. Source : https://www.tekedia.com/nigerian-government-german-siemens-ag-electricity-deal-resumes-targets-2000mw-in-two-months/I think this is great news, I just wish president buhari had put more focus on this earlier in his tenure, however it is better late than never |

paris10: Only broke, short-sighted, ignorant, and ill-exposed individuals would for a second think Western countries is any better than Nigeria.
I have lived in virtually most recognized western countries, integrated, got passports, & studied the system. I can categorically & boldly say Nigeria is a better country than any western country IF you have the money, connection, patience, entrepreneurship skills, & creativity.
The freedom from discrimination, bills, boredom, & loneliness is a plus on the Nigeria part.
Travel to get exposure & not to run away. I agree I was educated and lived in England for 8 years and I was so relieved when I left. There are great infrastructures yes, but there is more freedom in our home country, albeit with a lot of challenges |

Peter obi is the best candidate from the east and I like how he carefully articulated what Nigeria’s only problem is>>> Power
No other candidate has laser focused on this, not even my own PYO
Peter obi has also shown one very desire-able skill. And that skill is the Ability to reduce government spending considerably. He did it in anambra state
I am a yoruba man but I don’t care if a particular region rules for ever, just enact policies that puts more money in my pockets |

They hate tyrants and dictators in Nigeria, but they love aborad tyrants, evil murderers, rapists and killers.
Just imagine here in Nigeria where people abuse and insult their president every second of the day with no punishment, but in Russia, you get picked up, locked, up, and sent to prison for decades, and that's if Putin did not poison you.
Opposition members in Russia have all been poisoned and killed, one survived, but he's in prison based on bogus charges. Just imagine opposition members in Nigeria like Atiku, Peter Obi being poisoned or sent to prison forever.
This is the kkind of monster and sadistic tyrants these clueless people are in love with.. They are supporting Putin cos they despise the west |

Politics › Re: 2023 Declaration: "Osinbajo Is Extremely Incompetent" - Adeyanju Warns Nigerians by Moorish: 1:22pm On Apr 11, 2022 |
kingthreat: At this times in Nigeria, we need strong leadership. People of strong character to make strong decisions to move the country forward. To me, Osinbajo is just like Jonathan. A good man with some good principles, but his willpower cannot stop the security challenges of the country. El-Rufai once said, you do not expect that a bandit who makes 1 million naira from a kidnapping deal to actually settle for a monthly stipend of 40k. We have to get to the root of the problems and take some strong decisions like "No to payment of ransom" no matter how harsh it may sound. Now with the corruption going round in Nigeria, do you think Osinbajo can thwart the cabal to favour the people? You need a leader with some strong mind like Trump to do that and to hell with consequences. My idea of a good leader for Nigeria in this trying times are: People-focused Strong will (No negotiation with terrorists or separatists) Economy Charisma Strong character Non-partisan Sorry, Osinbajo is just an intelligent man. But to make things work in a frustrating Nigeria, I doubt so. I will take Peter Obi over Osinbajo. He has more action. But Obi needs to show his no-tolerance for Biafra amongst other things. Nigeria is at the verge of a frustrated youth population, ineffective security architecture, food insecurity, economic downturn, etc. We need someone who can improve on all these. I prefer Peter obi as well because he will most likely curb wasteful government spending and improve the economy But PYO is more sensitive and embodies the kind of character that understands the nationwide issues No sitting leader has visited the length and breadth of this nation as widely as PYO has I will be happy with either Peter obi or PYO but I respect your opinion |

kingthreat: Please tell me how any of the two you listed can improve the security situation of the country. Nigeria's economy is bad. But the security is killing it worse. My bro, no one can predict a good leader but we can make inferences from their character and their antecedents I know either of them will do a better job than buhari Security challenges can be solved by making long term decisions that will make violence less attractive to those currently engaging in it. Economics is at the root for our woes But I will like to hear your opinion on who you think is a better candidate than PYO or Peter obi |

nedekid: But just imagine a combination of Osibanjo and Peter Obi. Osibanjo handling rule of law, governance, foreign affairs, security, while Peter handles the economy. No story, in few months you will feel a breath of fresh air in the country. Correct. Peter obi is economically sound. See what he did in his home state ! However osinbajo has character and is sensitive. Your analysis is an intelligent one I lean more towards Peter obi, even though I am a yoruba man. My reason is I feel Peter obi is more radical. He severely cut spending in his state. Economics is everything for me.. I really like PYO as a person and he has a good character and temperament and he will select economic savants he doesn’t have to be an economic expert himself. He is my 2nd choice But God please give us Peter obi |

DontBullshitMe: I have a very big problem with Osibanjo's declaration.
The declaration for Presidency by Osibanjo is borne out of nothing but greediness. C'mon, this man has been in Aso rock for almost 7 years and spent about 1 of it being the President.
Isn't it obvious to him that Nigeria is fundamentally unfixable. To fix Nigeria, there are some harsh, unpopular policies that need to be executed and promoted nationwide. One of them is : to aggressively slow down population growth. Another is : coming to realization that Nigeria is not a very rich country, and taking active steps to foster industrialization so that taxation can be more aggressive.
Osibanjo himself knows he can't fix Nigeria, who is he deceiving?
A person who has never held any position of authority in Aso rock can still pardoned for thinking they can fix Nigeria on the basis of ignorance. You made excellent and incisive points What candidate would you like to see become President ? |

COMPAQ: This is just typical shallow Nigerian news without details.
Can anyone tell me exactly how Siemens plans to get us from our current paltry 4000MW to 7000MW? Is it by providing gas to existing under utilized gas plants? If so, where is the gas magically going to come from? Or do they plan to deploy grid scale solar and wind?
And then how are we to get from 7000MW to 11,000MW and then on the 25,000MW. Even if money were not an impediment, that sort of jump would still be very challenging to pull off, given the so many things that can go wrong with executing a project like this in Nigeria beyond the financial aspects.
As far as I'm concerned this is all just shallow talk, as there is no concrete plan!! As you rightly said, yes we have power plants sitting idly. I think Siemens plans to optimize our transmission infrastructure so that those idle power plants can come on stream |
