You are not crazy, you are doing fine for yourself. If you are gainfully employed or you make money through business you will enjoy Nigeria.

I just look at people that condemn those traveling out. They should understand that not everyone will venture into business, we can't all be entrepreneurs. Some will prefer 8-4 jobs. Even majority of the SME in the country are not doing well.

Example after my graduation from the university I couldn't get a job so I started a business, in the process I lost close to all of my capitals and also had to pay back some debt, though am not discouraged but the only positive option I see now is to travel to Australia or Canada then I can think of coming back to invest after I have made money.

Note - in the period I come back to invest in Nigeria my children will never come here to live with me never will that happen.
And moreover the only business that has 98% success rate in Nigeria is CHURCH business, you have easy access to bank loan, you can confirm this from the RCCG franchise.

I really don't see Nigeria getting better anytime soon and I have to do what it takes to live a comfortable life with my family.
Yea

I had to adapt to the s.hithole

And i fell in love with it eventually

Raising kids here is another thing tho

The moment I step into London, the first thing I always wanna do is get on an underground train and marvel at a century old technology .I have done this consistently since I was a teenager,so maybe London or the West has lost its allure.London,Chicago or Dubai dont excite me anymore, because they are the achievements of other people. What happened to our own God given ability to create?
I am so excited whenever I see those train tracks approaching Marina, that is our own, no matter how medieval our own technology is.Going abroad to hustle is like a very talented artist always staying in galleries admiring the works of other artists instead of creating his own. When will other people come to admire his own works.Sadly we have become a nation of migrants going anywhere that is not Naija including Guam,Fiji and Suriname.Sadly we dont even integrate well with our adopted homelands as we still crave naija food ,attend naija churches and generally still cluster in groups where we can still behave like we do in naija. If you dont believe me,spend enough time in Peckham or Hackney in London and you just might see someone driving one way or begging you for money in yoruba.
Can we be friends?

That was rhetorical, but ..

I love interacting with people who think like me

Brother that is what they made us believe that our ways was evil. We certainly had our shortcomings like any other nation. Every society has it's dark side including the United Kingdom.

If you go back to the Berlin conference you will understand that these imperialists were never concerned about our wellbeing. It was about resources. In simple terms, money. They killed more people that opposed them than they claimed to have saved.

Bank of England has more Gold than the whole central banks in Africa combined. Where did they get the gold? Shey na from Kent them mine am and if they bought it who did they pay? See saying we should appreciate the British for saving us sounds more like killing our ancestors all over again.
The strong will always prey on the weak

It is not unique to Europeans

I blame my fore parents because clearly they were the least performing of all nationalities, hence leading to our defeat

I hope we can undo their wrongs so our fore bears will praise us

Africans have been involved in f.uckeries since day one. I cannot ever defend human sacrifices, that’s some animal barbaric s.hit!

When Europe came here they were hardly impressed with what they saw, they assumed us inferior and I do not blame them

We all know it wasn’t a trip on philanthropy yes, but I do not play the blame game

I think the United Kingdom has over the years appeared to be ignorant about the role they played in creating these social vices in most third world countries they colonised.

It's really funny how UK keeps mocking us when Nigeria was their pet project. The same crocks that looted our natural resources. Our art works which they stole still sit on their museum generating millions of pounds every year yet, the Queen is head of the Church of England which has the Anglican Church under it and they have never had any remorse not to talk of honourably towing the path of restitution.

I still wonder why Nigerians send their kids to UK to study. They will only end up brainwashing you to feel less of yourself.

I stand to be corrected if Nigeria has committed 1% of crime against humanity committed by the United Kingdom but, albeit you will never see it on their useless syllabus.

I agree with you totally but the problem is that IFA divination through some practioners had made a lot to loose faith in it even if people still believed in its concept. As far as I am concerned, there are no difference among some IFA practitioners, some Pastors and Alfas because they demand from people, what such cannot provide. This is the first problem of inconsistency by these diviners. And again, Nigeria will not allow Yoruba to grow and develop in the areas, you mentioned. In fact, it was God that encouraged professors such as Akinwumi Ishola (deceased), Wande Abimbola, Bade Ajuwon, and others who had written over
We got about 50 items on our bibliography to make sure IFA divination became part of the UNESCO's masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage. Today, IFA is known worldwide, when oral and intangible heritage is mentioned. In truth, Yoruba will always be better of as a nation on her own without being in Nigeria. The population is there, the productivity to excel is achievable, man power is available etc. Lastly, British didn't conquer Yorubas but Kiriji war made Britain came in as a mediator and eventually seizing power through back door. Even during their years of stay ,Yorubas were the ones that made leave Nigeria.
I also sometimes appreciate the diversity in southern Nigerian cultures especially through the music

For that reason alone, I am somehow open to the idea of Nigeria

Odua nation is also enticing to me, but it will take a war for Nigeria to break up, and I do not want that

I believe we can still further Yoruba civilization while also being a part of Nigeria

And Ifa is the source. We need to create new civilizations that reflect Yoruba

Eri, the Igbo ancestor was a sky king

Ogiso, Benin leadership were sky kings

The orisa’s came from the sky

It is highly probable and incontrovertible proof that ife is the source of all southern Nigerian cultures because only ife expounded on these myths the most

All claim sky kings so there must be a common source of the myths

And from the level of Ifa scholarship from ife, I can conclude that ife is the source

Nooo he wasn't correct because he didn't travel far to other Yoruba enclaves and didn't compile the proper history but Oyo's loyalist account. Kudos to him though . In fact ,many Eastern Yorubas acknowledged this wholeheartedly because, a lot of princes, priests and hunters settled down in that region more than Western Yoruba princes, Northern Yorubas , whose enclave had more, chiefs and citizens lineage.
I think Ifa cosmology and our indigenous beliefs are highly underrated. Imagine if we were never conquered by Britain? And We had our own calendar system, we developed indigenous tech and architectural styles etc

I feel like most Africans are soulless. We do not create anything new, except in the arts. We have no indigenous philosophy or religious creeds we adhere to. Imagine if instead of churches we had our own indigenous corpus, veneration of our ancestors, arts, reverence for our lands etc the Monies spent on Jewish and Arab religions would have been channeled towards a Yoruba agenda. This would have spurned all kinds of art, crafts, architecture and civilizations

I am also abit confused because while I want to further Yoruba civilization, I am also always filled with pride whenever I see the cultural influence Nigeria has in Africa, from our music to movies etc

So I think the Nigerian project, although it suppresses our indigenous nationalities, it also gives us more influence on the world stage

Do you agree olu ?

IFE was the sacred city, where princes are identified through their crowns. Crowns differs, irrespective of who wears it. The kingly families under Ooni can't wear same crown status like them . Oyo acknowledged the real princes, who are of his patrilineal lineage that founded different kingdoms and they worked on terms, exchange gifts with some and influence some because of her military might, especially in the western Yorubas and place like Ede that was set up as a military Base by OYO. Take for instance, Otun that I mentioned was never attacked by Oyo and was always accorded with respect, so also other kingdoms, which were reciprocated . The Eastern Yorubas, were basically non radical like Oyo in transformation and maintain the cordial relationship with IFE as the home of their ancestors. A place from which everyone draw inspiration from ILE IFE as their power house. Despite, different approach to doing things, all still believed in unity in diversity of their different development. At times, princes were called or invited to help waged war against rebels that were invited from Bini. Luusi did fought for Ado Ekiti to help chase away Nupe,Kwarafas,Ika,Bini invasion, known as Ogun Èléwa. Another instance ,was a clear case when Ondo Égi (Ekimogun) kingdom was threatened by rebels, somewhere along the line, Derin Ologbenla subdued the rebels and invaders from Bini around 1824/5 and restored the Yoruba monarchial system and moved back to Oke Igbo before many years after, that he was made the Ooni IFE. There were other warriors such as hunters, sword men, archers, etc with strong Osanyi(herbs) knowledge that were also used as mercenaries to fight so as to rescue many kingdoms from possible invaders. These were what many princes and other mercenaries etc did for their family and yoruba kingdom when the had problems of invaders.
Wow, reading this was so cool. I am highly interested In the herbsmen, the osanyi

So cool, thanks

So the eastern yorubas also acknowledged IFE as their ancestral home in pre colonial times ? I didn’t know that

I often felt it was Samuel Johnson who first espoused a collective “Yoruba” identity for our people

Literally speaking, in view of making Nigeria great, everyone's view will always be idealistic unless you are in a position of power like Osinbajo. "Change starts with you" mantra and all that is a waste of time without a collective effort from everyone else (statically impossible). Hence, why you need government to force or engineer the change.
Asking me what I have done is merely a deflecting tactics as it wouldn't change the perspective of significant number of Nigerians. Irrespective of my contribution, statically speaking, lot of Nigerians with less privilege has probably made a bigger impact on their society. Does that fact invalidate my political voice or yours? Now, the real question is, why hasn't their contribution been able to make any difference for many years. Nigeria has been blessed with many activist over the years, so what happened to their contribution? Mr Genius, why is it that a region was able to make a significant progress under a man called Awolowo than all others (Only for his kinsmen to let him down)? How was Chao Ming able to make such a significant difference, what about Lee Kuan Yew?
It's because real change starts from the top, in which case your question will be more relevant to your leaders. Whatever you do is merely scratching an insignificant surface.
Well your view then leaves us in a state of Despondency and hopelessness since whatever little thing we do is insignificant according to you.

I do agree that societal development must be driven from the top. However if the leadership is lacking we have no other choice but to do the little we can to improve our collective lot.

I do appreciate your intelligence, and hope to meet an african woman like u some day.

lool.. you could almost predict the same boring idealistic nonsense from these politicians. There are many countries less religious and much more morally bankrupt, that are more prosperous than Nigeria. Humans by nature, are built to do the wrong things if there aren't any consequences. It's the consequences of the behavior that will affect the behavior of Nigerians significantly.

In other words, you need a water tight law that is fair, absolute, less ambiguous and binding to change the behavior of the average Nigerians. You also needs strategies to aid growth, improve education, standard welfare etc.

Let's talk about strategies that brings about real change and less idealist talk please.

“The Yoruba

Some of these states had 150,000 or 250,000 inhabitants. Art objects

Around 12th century, 13th century,14th century , there were migration of princes outside ILE IFE, for expeditions and war mastery....Late Bishop Samuel Ajayi crowther blundered on so many information about IFE history. The first time IFE had heavy issue was with Modakeke , whom were refugees from Oyo, after the collapse of OyO ILE. They were given place to stay when Oyo had serious issue with Afonja Ilorin and when there was a problem with IFE, they formed alliance with Ibadan that had risen to a formidable military bloc to attack and sacked IFE before kings, princes and mercenaries were also called who fought against Ibadan and restore dignity to the throne of Odua that Oranmiyan reignec on as well as his descendants that held and protected it. Funny enough, the Oba Erediuwa who was claiming Odua as a a rediculous Owodo descendants would not be able to do so today, if Ibadan had ridiculed these great men that fought and chased Ibadan Out of the place, despite her might at that time .
