Ikenne Police DPO Patrick Onwu Demoted To The Rank Of DSP For Beating Up Female Traffic Officer In Abeokuta Ogun State. IGP Arase has ordered the immediate demotion of Patrick Onwu, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ikenne who beat a traffic warden to coma on Monday.As it stands, the DPO has been demoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP).

IGP learnt about the incident in the newspapers and immediately called Ogun State Police Commissioner and gave him the directives. The alleged bully is also facing disciplinary actions.

This will serve as a warning to others like him who take pride in abuse of office.

On Monday at UBA bank, a Fulani man goes to the ATM and withdraws all his money. Then goes inside the same bank and deposit the same money he withdrew telling the bank officer that, my money is not safe outside in the ATM.

The "Gender Equality Bill which was overwhelmingly kicked against when it was brought in in the senate house, has been gathering too much sympathy since then. Many Nigeria women have expressed their displeasure on the manner the senate quashed the bill and Nigerian Afro pop singer, Imelda Ada Okwori, popularly known as Imelda J, is the latest to air her mind. Imelda J, who is also a women rights activist and whose song, Breaking Free makes case for women’s rights and equality, condemned the senate’s decision during a courtesy visit to the Abuja office of DAILY POST newspaper. It would be recalled that the gender equality and opportunity bill sought to, among other things, promote equal opportunities, advancement of all persons, and prohibition of violence against women.

Some male senators, mainly from a section of the country, had disapproved of the bill on the ground that it runs contrary to the constitution. While bemoaning the rejection of the bill, Imelda said, “Why should the bill be rejected? Any man who disapproves the bill is certainly an enemy of progress. “Like I always say, I’m a feminsit to the core and it baffles me why such an opportunity for women would be turned down by people who claim to be educated and well-travelled.

“When people, especially men and most women who don’t really understand, got to hear about the gender equality, they thought it was a medium for women to over-ride men. No, that’s not what it means. “I am a rights’ activist. All we ask is to be given an equal opportunity and right just as the men. We go to school just like them and never for once we were treated less or asked to pay lesser bills because we are women. “It is very annoying to realise that after struggling through life just like men, we are considered as weaker vessels. This is wrong and derailing.

Oh Lord, help your people especially from these trailer drivers. An accident involving a trailer and the red car around 11am along Bida road Niger state this morning has left many dead and many injured. According to eye witnesses, the trailer just stopped in the middle of the road and was trying to make a u-turn when the red car coming from behind rammed into it.

Fiver people reportedly lost their lives while 2 are still alive but heavily injured.
